Entry ID: 1801855 | Wow! The season will be here before we know it. I'm excited about what is coming for WPYF in the 2010 season. We earned a spot in the top level of DVYFC, with a much tougher schedule to prove it. What are we made of? 2010 will show it. All the coaches are looking forward to getting started, working towards the common goal of making our teams competitive.
With that, I hope we are all on board with what it takes to make this happen. We need everyone involved to be pulling in the same direction. Get the kids and the parents that have been with us to come out and sign up! We have worked long and hard over the past years to return West Pitt to this point. The numbers have been increasing each year, now is not the time to let the kids or the organization to falter. Differences can be mended, ironed out, and compromised. In the end, as WPYF flourishes, so do the kids and the community that we support. I anticipating more positive things to happen for the WPYF family. Thank you for being a part of it!! |

Entry ID: 1720690 | Congratulations to all of our Cheer teams that competed at JAMZ at University of the Pacific on Sunday! You first had to overcome the challenge of just getting there with a bridge that would not close. But, you weathered that storm, kept your composure and gave us a great show. Thank You Ladies!! |

Entry ID: 1720686 | Seven weeks behind us, and look at where we are!! Can you believe that we have 3 teams that appear to be playoff bound, and one that is not yet mathematically eliminated? I am so proud of this organization! The players and cheerleaders are all doing an outstanding job. My thanks to all of the coaches and parents who are taking an active role. For those of you who are still standing back, letting others do the job, you don't know what you are missing! But, don't stand there too long . . . this train is pulling out of the station quickly! Parent participation can't be left to only a few people. It takes the entire Village to make this organization run smoothly. If you don't get involved, you can't complain about what is not happening! |

Entry ID: 1683514 | Wow! What a beginning! This season has brought both joy and pain already. First day numbers were amazing! But, with increased numbers at the Trojan, Titan, and Spartan levels can the unfortunate and unwelcome task of cutting children. Since I have been at West Pitt, we have been able to say that we didn't do this because we have not had the numbers to make this a necessity. I guess that is the one negative to our growing success. I have to say that it is not something that I or any of the coaches relish. It is also a process that we were not quite prepared to manage.
In stepping through the early practices, I would like to believe that we have been fair and equitable in the decision on which children were released. Our first thought was to be for the safety of the children who did not seem to be grasping the concepts of the sport . . at this time. That is not, in any way, meant to say that these children will not be successful football players . . . just not right now. Moving forward, WPYF will develop a more organized process for tryouts and cuts. It will be published on this website. It will also be made part of the application package and recruiting message. It is my hope that future years will continue to bring new numbers to West Pitt, and that all will know and understand that each individual has an fair chance to become a member of our teams.

Entry ID: 1364631 | I want to thank Trojans Head Coach Terry Pierce. He threw a BBQ for the kids at Stoneman Park and they had a great time. They played and ate and jumped in the jumper! They all came home with little gift boxes full of goodies! I want to thank Coach Pierce for extending himself so far for these kids and also for treating my son like he is part of the family. I really appreciate what Coach Pierce is doing for this organization and I hope to see him around for a long time to come. GO WEST PITT!! |

Entry ID: 1344878 | WPYF did it again!! What an awesome time we had at the crab feed! We had a record turn out and what seemed to be some very satisfied customers. I am so blessed to be a part of such a wonderful group of people. Several of our children amazed me by displaying a generous and compassionate spirit to each other as they worked together on Saturday night. It was so great to see them giving of themselves so freely. Especially my two baby boo's Little Glenn Marshall and Ms. Cheyenne Ford. You guys warm my heart. Seeing these kids work together and the character that they posess just reminds why we are all doing this. Gooooo West Pitt! |
