First I would like to start off by saying to all my teammates THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES !!!! over the past seven years I have played for four differnt teams. I've been at the bottom of the barrel and now that I'm on top of the world I'm hanging up the cleets. I've met some guys over the years that I will never forget like Willie,Perm,Big Rome,Tom McClure,Jeff Warren the list could go on on. I would like to thank Moose for the chance to play on the greatest semi-pro team in the history of football. so to all the guys coming back for the 2009 season go out there and take care of business like only the WV LIGHTNING can.

All RETURNING PLAYERS, the Nemo Cyclones that we played in the National Championship game, receive dontations from the St Louis Rams of cleats, gloves and other equipment. Currently they are selling some of this equipment.. Cleats are sizes 10-16 in like new condition.. the pro players wear them one time then discard them... the gloves are 10 dollars.. Nike, Reebok, Addidas, etc.. all brand names of course.. Its a good price for those guys having tough time with gear.. email me at lightningdcoach@aol.com if your interested and I will have them check for availablitily of what you want.. Troy (their owner) can send you pics and you can pay onling with paypal.. thanks.. Coach D

Ok, I have to comment. I have been in contact with the Detroit Seminoles and There are no issues between our two teams. We are both working to try to make a game happen but in all honesty due to the way things work out in semi-pro it doesnt look like it is going to happen. And it is neither the fault of the Lightning or the Seminoles. There are still possibilities this could still happen but it doesnt look like it will. We as the Lightning organization respect the Seminoles more than most can understand.. I personally have one a national championship along with our Owner and I have also played against the Seminoles. To the Dr. Frankinwhatever. We know what the seminoles have and that is why we would like to play them.. Why is it you critisize us for wanting to play the best while you beat your chest??? WE are trying to do exactly what your saying we should do. As far as hostingthe game it is just simply a matter of finacial issues for both teams. We just felt that BOTH teams would benefit playing here because of the crowd draw. For those uninformed in the charleston area this would be a huge event, while im sure in the Detroit area this would barely get a blip on the news.. Its understandable considering an nfl team plays there, as well as the other professional sports teams. You see here in small town usa we dont have any proffesional teams and a National Championship against a National POWER would be a huge draw. WHERE BOTH TEAMS could make money. That alone is the reason we made an offer to host. I want to appoligize in advance to the Seminoles for any misunderstanding this has caused them as well. As I have said before I have had conversations with their Organization and we are both on the same page as to wanting to see this game happen. It just doesnt look like it will happen due to commitments from both teams. Let me make it clear the Lighting are willing to play the Seminoles and they are more than willing to play us. As a member of the organization those on the outside need to keep their mouths shut when they dont know what is really going on. The Owner of the Seminoles knows our intentions and we have a very mutual respect for one another. We will hopefully get them on our schedule in the near future so we can determine if we are one of the best teams in the country as we feel we are. We just want to prove it. And we will eventually. To be the best you have to beat the best teams like the Seminoles, the Pirahna, the cyclones, the Warriors, the Dynasty, the Jets, the list goes one. We will play these teams and put ourselves in position to one day be included in this list. Let ther be no mistake the Lighting will play anyone, But we will not allow someone to spout off at the mouth and put us in a position where we jeapardize the future of this organization. If anyone has any questions please call me at 304-543-3198 anytime. I will explain it to you.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm having trouble getting the site to pull up now for some reason (I get the banner, but then nothing under it). I'm sure I'll have to register for an account, too. I don't doubt that there are some challenges going around, and I'm not going to throw our Commissioner nor our President under the bus. But again, Moose gets the final say. I'm getting ready to step into a 1:00 meeting, so I'll try to check it out later. Again, thanks for the info...

Dr. Frankenstein, Congratulations on finding our web site. Hopefully you'll soon have as much luck in finding the CAPS lock key on your keyboard. I hate to burst your bubble, but you're not going to impress, nor intimidate anyone on this team by thumping your chest on our guestbook. Maybe you're not even associated with the Seminoles, but you feel the need to shoot your mouth off to us. I don't know what is being said on other leagues' message boards, the only one I visit is the one for the USFA. So if someone is making "challenges" somewhere else, and you find it disrespectful, then you may want to address it at that venue. As far as the Seminoles are concerned, I know for a fact that they're a top-notch team and organization. But to be quite honest, it's nothing we haven't seen before. We're a first-year team, but a lot of us have been at this for a long time. To say that we haven't seen talent like yours in our league is a bit of a stretch, especially on an individual player basis. I've seen some VERY tough players this year, but according to you, they're not as good as any player on the Seminoles because we're "J.V." and you're varsity? I don't doubt for a minute that the Seminoles are stacked across the board, but that doesn't mean that we don't have a few ringers of our own. We have some players on my team that I will put up against ANY player at this level... one quarterback and 3 receivers come to mind. As far as the Lightning as a team, and how we've played against our opponents. We're 12-0. That's is, that's our team history... 12-0. We played the teams which were given to us on our schedule, and we beat them. As you said, you have to beat the best to be the best. So how can you fault anyone from the Lightning for trying to schedule a team like the Seminoles? You may totally dismiss what we've done to this point by winning the USFA because we're "J.V.", but having teams in our league like Lackawanna, Wayne County, Grand Rapids, Lima, etc... I consider it a pretty impressive feat. As I said before, we're a first year team. Maybe our play on the field has exceeded our growth as an organization. Starting up a new team is not a cheap endeavor. There are a lot of logistical issues that have to be addressed... like travel money. If the invitation/offer was made to have the Seminoles come down and play us, and that is unacceptable or BENEATH that organization, then so be it. You can't blame someone for trying. As far as our travel is concerned, the only person who has the first, final, and ONLY word on that issue is the owner of this team. So save yourself the time of blowing your horn, or the horn of someone else on our guestbook. We've seen it all before. If you have any other "questions" in regards to "what this is all about", you're welcome to give me a call. My phone number is on the contact page of this website. Jeff Warren

TO THE LIGHTING ORGANIZATION QUESTION? WHO MANY TEAMS HAVE YOU PLAYED THIS YEAR RANKED NATIONALLY THIS YEAR IN THE TOP 20? WHAT MAKES YOU THINK YOU WOULDN'T HAVE TO TRAVEL TO PLAY THE #1 TEAM IN THE NATION? IN ANY LEAGUE THE THE #2 SEED ALWAYS TRAVEL TO PLAY THE #1 SEED. WHAT IS YOUR ROAD SCHEDULE FOR THIS YEAR? HOW MANY ROAD GAMES DID YOU PLAY? WHERE DOES YOUR COMPETITION RANK IN THE POLLS? WHAT'S THE HISTORY OF NATIONAL TITLES WON IN YOUR LEAGUE? MATTER FACT HOW MANY TITLES HAVE YOU WON NATIONALLY. I ASK THESE QUESTIONS BECAUSE I KNOW THE HISTORY OF SEMI PRO FOOTBALL. AND I DON'T SEE ANYTHING THAT WOULD MAKE ME BELIEVE YOU WOULD STAND A CHANCE IN A GAME AGAINST A TEAM WHO HAS A HISTORY OF BEATING OTHER LEAGUES CHAMPIONS, WINNING MULTIPLE NATIONAL TITLES, AND IS HIGHLY RANKED EVERY YEAR. TO BE THE MAN YOU HAVE TO BEAT THE MAN PERIOD. THIS TEAM THE DETROIT SEMINOLES ARE ON ANOTHER LEVEL THAN YOU. YOU ARE THE J.V. OF SEMI PRO THEY ARE THE VARSITY. YOU WANT TO PROVE SOMETHING TO THE NATION JOIN THE VARSITY LEAGUE. BECOME A BIG BOY STEP UP TO THE PLATE AND DO SOMETHING. TO ALL WHO THINK THERE BETTER SCHEDULE YOURSELVES ON THE TEAM SCHEDULE NEXT YEAR AND DO IT NOW. BUT FOR NOW GO BACK LOOK AT YOUR SCHEDULE COMPARE IT TO THE SEMINOLES AND SEE IF YOU ADD UP. ROAD SCHEDULE, TEAMS RANKED YOU PLAYED, MARGIN OF VICTORY, AND QUALITY OF OPPONENTS. AFTER THAT TAKE A GOOD LOOK IN THE MIRROR AND ASK YOURSELF, ARE WE REALLY GOOD ENOUGH TO CHALLENGE THEM. THAN GO BACK ON THE MESSAGE BOARD LOOK AT ALL WHO CHALLENGED THE SEMINOLES AND LOOK AT ALL THE OUT COMES OF THOSE GAMES. THE SEMINOLES WELCOME ALL CHALLENGERS EVERY YEAR. HAVEN'T BACKED DOWN FROM NO TEAM EVER BASED ON THE HISTORY OF THIS TEAM. HAVE TRAVEL TO ALL WHO HAVE STEPPED BEFORE THEM AND WON. SO I ASK YOU WHY ARE YOU AFRAID TO TRAVEL TO DETROIT? MAYBE IT'S BECAUSE YOUR TEAM DOESN'T TRAVEL WELL ON LONG TRIPS? MAYBE HISTORY HAS SHOWN YOU DON'T PLAY WELL ON LONG ROAD GAMES? ARE MAYBE YOUR JUST TALKING THE TALK, WITH NO INTENTIONS OF WALKING THE WALK? THANKS FOR YOUR TIME. DR. FRANKENSTEIN.

Wow, Great win guys... We have now locked at least a share of our division title.. Worst we can do is tie with morgantown only if they beat us. We're not gonna let that happen though. are we? I think we all know we have some things to work on. But we cant complain scoring 58 points on a veteran team like Akron is yet another statement.. Teams in the league are taking notice.. WE ARE now "THE TEAM TO BEAT" Bar-none. So the target is now on your backs.. How are you going to respond?? Thats our challenge now. Stay focused and lets GET IT DONE.. Win out and we have a very good shot at home for the playoffs.. Defensively we game up the most points of the season.... but.. We did get to give alot of guys play time and that always makes us better as a team. I saw alot of teamwork out there. and very profesional on the sidelines.. nice impovement from last week.. As you can see all the hard work and the proffessionalism you are showing is coming back to us with a continually growing fan base.. KEEP IT UP. EXTREMLY proud to be called your coach.. Thanks MEN!!!
