HN Girls Swim Team Important Announcements for January 15, 2008

    Fellow Parents-

I know that the following is much to go through but each announcement is important:

    1) We are reinforcing the following safety rules for all practices, please speak to your daughters:

    > No diving off the shallow end of the pool,
(We only allow those swimmers able to do a shallow dive to do so at a meet):

    > No leaving the pool deck without the permission of a coach,
    (Take bathroom breaks with a buddy);

    > If your daughter has to leave early from a practice, please send Carol or I an e-mail,
(Have your daughter tell a coach that they are leaving); and,

    > If you are hurt exhausted or have cramps, get out of the pool and tell a coach.

    2) A a recent Coaches meeting, we agreed to the following organization structure:

    > Team Manager = Christopher Mason
    > Head Coach = Carol Jolly
    > Practice Session Coordinators =
    N/B - Cathy Hunt/Lee Turner
    J/S - Pat Heiss
    > Coaches
    > Locker Room Helpers
    > Timers
    > Other Parent Volunteers
    > Assistant Coaches

    3) There is no Sunday practice on Martin Luther King, Jr Weekend.
Our next Sunday practice is January 27 from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM.

    4) Our first meet is Friday, January 25, 2008 at 6:35 PM at Richmond Hill HS in Queens. I will send out directions and a list of parents and contact information for those that have to arrange rides to the meet. (If anyone wants to try coordinating the rides please tell me.) We have most of our meets in Queens because that is where most of our opponents are located and the league organizers found it easier to group the meets.
The head of the league assured me that he will try to schedule us in Brooklyn for April 4.

    5) We will have mock or practice meets for the Novices and Bantams during the first practice session [January 23]. Please have your daughter be on time at 6:15 PM. We will have a mock meet for the Juniors and Seniors during next week's (January 23) second practice session at 7:15 PM. Please call if your daughter cannot make the respective mock meet.

6)Remember to tell us if your daughter cannot make the meet on Friday, January 25.

    7) Starting tomorrow, we will be having your daughters sign the team roster as required by the league.

    8) Please tell me if you have access and knowledge of Excel and you can help us transcribe the swim times into spreadsheets.

    9) I will soon be placing the order for sweatshirts, send me an e-mail if you want a sweatshirt.

    10) The Holy Name Fathers Guild, began selling tickets to its 30th Anniversary Dinner Dance (February 9, 2008). You can pick your tickets at $40 each at the Church View Hallmark Store on Prospect Park West across from Holy Name School. Tell the person selling the tickets that you want to be seated a a Swim Team table.

    Thank you for your patience.

    Respectfully yours,

    -Chris Mason

    <>
1.>We are near the end of the waiting list process. We had a successful orientation practice yesterday for new swimmers at St. Francis College. New swimmers that were offered a spot on the Team but missed the orientation practice, can come to the first practice. Please send me an e-mail about your plans.
    <>
2.>We will have a parents meeting on Monday, November 5, 2007, at 7:00 PM. We will be discussing the additional practices at St. Francis College, the new meet structure and what to expect this season. If you have not yet sent in your registration form and check, please bring it to the meeting.
    <>
The meeting will be held in Farther Farrell Shepherd's Hall. The Hall is located in the basement of Holy Name Church at 245 Prospect Park West (corner of Prospect Avenue). The entrance to the Hall is reached through the parking lot on Prospect Park West (make a right turn after the Brother's Residence towards the back of the Church). An agenda will be distributed.

NEW HN GIRLS SWIM TEAM ANNOUNCEMENTS
    September 8, 2007

    Fellow Parents-

Some announcements about swimming and the Swim Team:

1> Welcome back from the summer!

2> The Girls Swim Team will have registration for returning swimmers in October.

3> The Holy Name Fathers Guild will be holding a sports night on Wednesday, September 12, 2007 at 7:30 PM in Shepherd's Hall. The HNFG will be having presentations and registration for Basketball, Dodgeball and Soccer. Although the Girls Swim Team will not be having registration for new swimmers at the meeting, the Swim Team has been asked to make a presentation.

If you know anyone interested in the Team pass on this information. It will be a great opportunity for them to find out more and ask any questions about about the Team. We will also begin taking names for the waiting list of new swimmers.

4> I will send out our presentation after the HNFG sports night. You are more than welcome to attend. You will not only find what is in store for the Team this season and be able to ask questions in person, you may find out interesting information about the other sports programs offered by the HNFG.

5> If your daughter does not plan on continuing with the team this season (we know about the senior graduates), please tell us so we can open up a spot for a new swimmer. I will also take you off our e-mail lists.

6> I merely put this out for your information, without any endorsement: The Berkeley Carroll Athletic Center in-person registration begins at 10:00 am today for swim classes that begin September 28 and run through December 15. For more information go to www.berkeleycarroll.org . Sorry for the very late notice, but I just received the news. [I just drove by the Athletic Center and saw a long line of people that looked liked they were there for hours. So a number of classes will probably be closed by the time you read this. However, it doesn't hurt to ask. You can also check out the Prospect Park Y.]

7> I will be in touch. Good luck with school!

    Respectfully yours,
