LEP Brings Home 1st Place Hardware From The North Coast Cuyahoga Invitational!
June 8, 2009 --
The Lake Erie Pirates traveled to North Ridgeville, OH on 6/6/09 to play in the North Coast Cuyahoga Invitational Tournament. When the dust cleared on 6/7/09, the Pirates found themselves hoisting the first place trophy! The Pirates went 2-0 in the first day of pool play beating the Ohio Orioles and a very strong Jackson Jaguar team. Their day 1 performance guaranteed them the #1 seed in their pool and a spot in the tournament championship on Sunday evening. On day 2, the Pirates played their 3rd game and lost an extra inning nail-biter to the Belleview Warriors. After knotting the game at 9 in the bottom of the last inning, the Pirates fell in an extra inning Texas tie-breaker format, giving up 3 runs to the Warriors. Due to their game 3 loss, the Pirates entered the championship game as the #2 seed and faced the Belleview Warriors again! Behind a phenomenal complete game pitching performance by Levi Wright, and consistent hitting throughout the lineup, the Pirates banded together as a team and posted a convincing 8 - 1 victory to win the tournament championship!

LEP Wins 2009 Calhoun Classic 12U Tournament!

The Lake Erie Pirates stormed the Painesville area to win the 2009 Calhoun Classic Tournament held on 5/15/09 through 5/17/09! The Pirates went 3 - 0 in the pool play round beating the Mentro Cardinal Red, the Mentor Cardinals Black and Super Joe's Sluggers. They entered the championship game as the #2 seed and beat a very strong Pittsburgh Diamond Dawgs team to claim the 2009 title!

TOPS Markets Hosts LEP Pizza Party!

Representatives from TOPS Markets in Erie, PA helped the Lake Erie Pirates 12U Team kick-off its 2009 season! A pizza party was hosted at the TOPS Markets East 38th Street store location. Dave Shean, Store Manager for TOPS, coordinated the festivities and presented the Lake Erie Pirates with a 2009 Sponsorship check! A special thanks goes out to Dave's staff, especially Marcie and Linda, for all their efforts! Thanks to everyone at TOPS Markets for their generousity and continued sponsorship of the Lake Erie Pirate kids!
