No practice on Tues, March 4. Come listen to Alan Williams
March 4, 2008 --
There will be no practice on Tuesday, March 4. In lieu of practice, all team members are invited to listen to speaker Alan Williams.
Alan Williams was a star basketball player in high school – he once scored 51 points in a game. His boyhood dream was to play basketball at Wake Forest. In his senior year, he was being recruited by schools like Navy, -- not Wake Forest. He ended up playing at Wake Forest as a walk-on player for 4 years, graduating in 2005. His book is an inspirational faith-based true story about the trials, frustrations and personal triumphs of his four year basketball career where he sat “at the end of the bench” as a walk-on not a “scholarship player” I am currently reading the book and it really is inspirational. It will speak to everyone – especially athletes in any sport to determine who and what you are really playing for.
Alan Williams (author of “Walk On – Life at the end of the Bench” will be speaking at Covenant Day High School on Tuesday, March 4. They will be serving free hot dogs starting at 6:00pm and the talk will begin at 6:30. It will be bleacher seating and first come, first serve on the hot dogs.
