Assistant Coach Robert Smalls of the second place Burtonsville Lions Club Dragons is not shown. Young Johnny Wright made BAA history by appearing in two All-Star games in the same season. He was selected to play in the 6th grade BLUE team, then agreed to be an emergency replacement for the RED team in the 7th grade game when only eight red players showed.

The blue team was coached by Unity Thunder Head Coach Daryl Paunil and Lands End Landscape Professionals Bats Head Coach John Wright. The red team coaching team was headed up by Giant Food Lynx Head Coach Sean Crabtree, with assistance from the CVS Mudcats' Coach Ronnie Pope and Horizon Health Raptors' Coach Martha Kenes.

CVS/pharmacy Midget All-Stars Come Out; Rain Follows

The first of two BAA Midget All-Star Baseball games got underway on Monday, June 6th at Blake High School, but was cancelled after two innings because of lightning and torrential rains. Former BAA All-Star John White thrilled the crowd with a stunning a cappella performance of the National Anthem. The late game was rescheduled for Monday, June 13th.

CVS/pharmacy Midget All-Stars Come Out Again; Rain Still Follows....

The BAA Midget League All-Stars and their coaches made a good effort to get the postponed 7th grade game completed on Monday, June 13th, but were once again defeated by the mainstay of Maryland late spring and summer evenings -- a "scattered" thunderstorm. Four innings were played before the game was called. Thanks to CVS/pharmacy for their generous support of the BAA and sponsorship of the All-Star Games for all age groups.

BAA PICTURE DAY AND OLYMPICS A ROLLICKING SUCCESS

Despite postponement of BAA Picture and Olympic Day on Saturday, April 26th, both events went off without a hitch on Sunday, April 27th under sunny skies. Thanks to Classic Photography's Mary Beth Gates and her excellent staff for for their friendly, efficient and accomodating style. Many coaches and families expressed their appreciation for Classic's willingness to change assigned photo times to accomodate previously planned activities. "Classy" would be a good word to describe the way "Classic" does business! Special thanks to BAA Olympics Event Coordinator Anne Howard, Riggs Shultz and a host of volunteers such as Mr. and Mrs. John Garza, Dave Ostermeyer, Margaux Portillo, Shannon Howard, John vanderZwet, Dave Toggas and many, many others. A good time was had by all...well, most! The guy who was attempting to pitch BP to his son in the Paint Branch batting cage wasn't really happy about the fact that 30 or 40 screaming kids and parents were gathered outside of the cage watching or participating in the longest hit contest or that we snatched his L screen. Based on his harmful attitude, we feel certain he'll find coal in his stocking this Christmas!
