New Age Cut Off Information
Parents the new age cut off date for football is September 1. Those players that qualify will play down. (ie. remain at same weight as last year)This policy is being implemented across the board for those kids that qualify. The only exceptions will be because of weight or some other extraordinary need. I would like you to understand that this is being done in all programs across the county and if we do not do the same it puts our organization at a disadvantage because other teams will have more mature and experience players on their rosters and we would not. This will also give players the opportunity to get more playing time and perhaps play a position that they would not have played with a heavier team. The chances of your player being on the same team if he moved up are not guaranteed either, because I have instructed all coaches to hold open tryouts for positions on the A and B teams at all weight classes so the make up of teams will change anyway. We have to look at this from an organizational perspective and not of one player, team or coach. This is what we are trying to instill in all the players in our program and I feel that thos players can be a leader to some of the less experienced kids that they would play with. I hope you all understand my position. If you would like to further discuss this pleasecontact me.

In House Tackle Football for 5 year olds
In house tackle football for 5 year olds. This gives parents an option for their 5 year olds to begin the transition from flag football to competitive tackle football.
Under this new program, players will be equiped with full gear and will learn the skills the big boys do. Since this is an in house program, the strength of the program is dependent upon the number of 5 year olds that participate. It is our hope to be able to field at least two in house teams that will compete against each other on game day. If we can field more than two teams, that will make the in house program even stronger.
This is a pilot program for SAC and we are not aware of any other organization that is offering this type of program for 5 year olds. If you would like to discuss this program with the Commissioner, please contact him at severnsemininolesfootball@hotmail.com
Registration for IN House has already begun, sign up today to secure a spot on this ground breaking program.

About Parent Volunteer Support. This is part of a parents obligation to do as being part of the Severn Athletic CLub organizatin. Severn Athletic CLub is NOT A BUSINESS, it is a community based, volunteer supported non profit organization. Its mission is to provide recreational opportunities to children in our community. We absolutely need as well as require parental volunteer support. This takes form in many ways. Coaching, working in concession stand, helping to set up and take down the field, cleaning up the field area after each game, parking lot control and cleaning bathrooms and emptying trash cans. Parents will have the option this year of paying out of volunteer hours if they do not want to volunteer hours. This fee is high intentionally to discourage this option and encourage parents to be active volunteers within the organization
This fee includes your registration fee and a non-refundable $50
fundraiser fee. This years fundraiser will be raffle tickets which you
will receive at the time of equipment pick-up. Once you sell those
tickets you keep the money in order to recover your $50.
NOTE* This is the first fee increase for REGISTRATION FEES in over 5 YEARS. The reason fees had to be increased is that the COunty increased its league fees, referre fees and equipment reconditioning cost increased dramatically. We can do additional fundraising efforts to help reduce costs but this means we need everyone's cooperation in participating in all fundraisers..
You may also register via mail by going to the forms link on SAC Football
Web Page and printing out the Registration Form, Player Contract and
release (if release is needed), and the Sports Code of Conduct, filling
them out in their entirety and mailing them along with you payment to:

Severn Bad Check Policy
SAC RETURN CHECK POLICY
As a convenience to parents and players the SAC will accept personal checks as a matter of policy for the payment registration fees, fund-raises, and other miscellaneous payments made to the SAC. As such, a strict policy will be adhered to in the acceptance of personal checks. All persons utilizing personal checks for payment will ensure that the following CURRENT information is contained on the check:
• Name
• Address
• Telephone Number (Home & Work)
• Driver’s License Number
• Child’s Name or Names if Multiple Children
In the event that a check is returned to the SAC marked as “Insufficient Fund” the issuer will be charged a twenty-five dollars ($25.00) returned check fee in addition to the original amount of the check. Another personal check will not be accepted and the payment and fees will be collected in the form of cash, money order or certified check. Players will be immediately suspended from any further play or practice until such time as the fee is collected. The check issuer’s name will be placed on a “Bad Check List”. If payment on returned check is not received within thirty (30) days of notification, the player will forfeit their position on the team and the check issuers will remain on the “Bad check List” and be suspended from writing checks to the SAC for one year. If payment on returned checks is not received within forty-five days (45), the SAC will seek relief through criminal prosecution under Maryland Criminal Law Article 7-107 in which a violator is subject to a fine, imprisonment or both. Any persons whose checks must be collected via criminal prosecution will also be permanently banned from writing personal checks to the SAC. The Severn Athletic Club appreciates your assistance in making our programs better for all the youths, which it serves.

Heat Advisory Notice- Practice Restrictions
August 3, 2007 --
FRIDAY, Aug 3rd
Parents and Coaches
The county will be posting a heat advisory for tonight. There will be a restriction on practice with pads this evening. Per the county you will NOT be permitted to practice with pads until 6:30.
You can warm up without your gear on and then get fully equipped after 6:30. Please make sure we are giving all the kids plenty of water breaks.
In the past on a day like today practice has been cancelled all together. A
As you can see the county recognizes that we are just starting practice and that each practice is crucial. They are meeting us half way here and I would appreciate everyone doing the responsible thing and follow the directions. Their commitment to our organization is evident and we need to work together within that relationship.
Once again please no equipment until 6:30. Have a good practice and we will see everyone at weigh-ins tomorrow.
Thank you
John
