In Town League Rules

6, 7, 8th Grade Boys and Girls
1. Two 16 minutes halves, stop time.
2. 3 time outs per game.
3. Overtime 2 minutes, 1 additional time out per OT.
4. All types of defense allowed at all times.
5. Fouls: 1 and 1 on the 7th, double bonus (2 shots) on the 10th (per half).
6. Otherwise high school rules apply.

4, 5th Grade Boys and Girls
1. Four 8 minute quarters, stop time.
2. Substitutes every 4 minutes (these are not time outs).
3. 3 time outs per game.
4. Overtime 2 minutes, 1 additional time out per OT.
5. Only man to man defense is allowed, no double teaming, no zones. If the referee stops the game for the double team/zone/full court defense rule a warning is given for the first violation each half (including OT). On the 2nd and subsequent violations one free throw is awarded, and the offense retains possession.
6. Defense must pick up at half court until the last 2 minutes of the first half and last 4 minutes of the second half (including OT) at which point full court defense is allowed.
7. Foul shooting: 1 and 1 on the 7th, double bonus (2 shots) on the 10th (per half). Shooter may cross the foul line after the release (but not advance for the rebound until the ball hits the rim).
8. Otherwise high school rules apply.

The program is open to boys and girls in grades 1-8. Evaluations are conducted (see schedule) for all registered players in Grades 4 -8. These evaluations provide the necessary skills assessment in selecting players for the Travel Teams. The evaluations for the remaining players are then used in the selection process/ draft for the In – Town League.

IN –TOWN LEAGUE- GRADES 4-8 - will field separate boys and girls teams that will compete with like teams from Ashland. In- Town League coaches participate in the drafting of players. Games are held on Saturdays or Sundays, 1 weeknight practice a week.

TRAVEL TEAMS – GRADES 4-8 – will field separate boys and girls travel teams by grade level that will compete in the Metrowest league. This league is a highly competitive basketball league. Sportsmanship, teamwork and fair play are stressed with an emphasis on winning games within the league. Standings are maintained with teams qualifying for Regional Playoffs. There is NO 4th grade GIRLS travel team in the Metrowest league.

2012-2013 AYB REGISTRATION & USER FEES
Grades 1, 2 &3 Fee is $100.00, shirt included
Grades 4-8 Fee is $150.00 Shirt is an additional $22.00
Maximum AYB Registration Fee per family- $350.00
(Does not include – game shirts, Metrowest fee or travel uniform)
Note: If your child is selected to play on a travel team, there is an additional Metrowest fee and uniform fee that must be paid in addition to the AYB Registration Fee. The 2012- 2013 fee is $135.00, uniform fee- TBD.

Grades 1, 2& 3
Boys and girls will meet once a week on Saturday, beginning in January 2013. Emphasis will be on skills development. There are no formal organized games at this level. Groups will be formed in late December. Coaches will contact all players.

IF A PARENT WOULD LIKE A 3rd GRADE PLAYER TO BE EVALUATED TO PLAY UP, A FORMAL REQUEST MUST BE MADE TO THE BOARD PRIOR TO EVALUATIONS.
