Mayor Mark A. Smith announced that Bayonne resident ID cards and golf course cards will be issued now at the Recreation Division office in Room 13 at City Hall, which is located at 630 Avenue C. The ID card operation has been moved from the Bayonne Public Library.
At the new location at the Recreation Division, there will be new hours for ID card applicants. Those hours, which are effective immediately, are: Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, from 12:00 Noon to 4:00 p.m., and Tuesdays, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. These hours will be the same for both Bayonne resident ID card and golf course cards. ID cards will not be issued on days that City Hall is closed for state or national holidays.
For Bayonne resident ID cards, applicants must bring at least two forms of identification with them, one of which must be a current telephone or PSE&G bill. Acceptable forms of identification include leases, driver’s licenses, non-driver ID cards from the Motor Vehicle Commission, and other valid documents. Photocopies of valid documents will be accepted. The resident ID card is free of charge. For admission to the municipal pool and certain other recreational facilities, ID cards will not be required for children below the age of 5. Due to pool charges that are based on age, proof of age is required for issuing ID cards. Acceptable proofs of age include birth certificates, passports, passport cards, and other proofs of age issued by government agencies. Since the ID cards include a photograph, it will be necessary for each applicant to come in person to be photographed. Residents may fill out an application form that is available on the Internet at www.leaguelineup.com/bayonnerec. Paper versions of the form will be available at the Recreation Division office.
The Bayonne resident ID card is valid for entrance to the DiDomenico Municipal Pool at 16th Street, Skutnick Pool at Lincoln School, the skating rink, and running track. There is no need to renew the cards from year to year as long as the bearer remains a Bayonne resident. City of Bayonne ID cards issued in previous years remain in effect for continuing residents.
The golf card is separate from the regular Bayonne resident ID card. The golf card is required for Bayonne residents to play at discounted rates during available hours at the Bayonne Golf Club and other courses in the Empire Golf chain. In order to activate their membership in the Bayonne resident golf discount program, Bayonne residents should obtain a Bayonne Club Card at the Recreation Division in Room 13 at City Hall. The ID card operation will issue the golf card for a nominal charge.
Applications for the card will be available at the Recreation office at City Hall. Golf cards will be issued to the applicants at City Hall, but an additional step will be necessary to activate the card. In order to register with Empire Golf’s discount program, a Bayonne resident must fill out an application form, attach a photocopy of the Bayonne Club Card, and enclose a registration fee in an envelope that will be sent to Empire Golf. Empire’s registration fees vary by age. Bayonne residents who are 62 and over would pay Empire Golf a registration fee of $5. Bayonne residents who are age 16 to age 61 would pay Empire Golf a fee of $20.
Bayonne residents who pay to participate in the golf discount program will be responsible for making their own arrangements for tee times, and must follow all of the fees, policies, and procedures required by each course. Empire Golf will issue participating Bayonne residents a list of guidelines and rules governing the use of this program.
