Bandits History
The Bloomington Bandits was founded in 2006 by George Walker, Rand Huwe, Michael Brendalen and Ryan Wolf. The Bandits jumped into the vacancy left by the Bloomington Redbirds after the Redbirds folded after the 2005 season. The Bandits played 2006 as an independent team going 11-14 in that season before officially joining the Riverview Conference in 2007. The Bandits join the Bloomington Bulldogs, who started up in 1984, to keep two town teams in Bloomington.
After the 2008 season, the Bloomington Bulldogs folded and left the Bloomington Bandits as the only amateur team from Bloomington remaining in the Riverview League.
2009 marked the first trip to the State Tournament for the Bandits. The Bandits finished 5th in the Riverview and defeated the Eden Prairie Eagles 2-0 and the Edina ESOX 2-1 in the Riverview playoffs. The Bandits promptly dropped the first two games of the tournament to the Stillwater Loggers and the Minneapolis Rocks.
