Blue Sox take on new boys Coventry
September 14, 2008  --   New boys Coventry went away empty handed as the Blue Sox showed their greater experience in both games of the double header to finish the season on a high.

Game 1 finished 21-7 and game 2 finished 15-7, many thanks to everyone for an enjoyable day but in particular to Tim Davidson and Will Lintern for umpiring a game each!

Many thanks to everyone this year for all their efforts, in particular a huge thanks to Blue Sox Vice Captain Shaun Hill. If it wasn't for Shaun's massive hard work we wouldn't of had a home field as good as we have at Western Park.

Many thanks to Leicester City Council and in particular Jas Dhillon for providing us with a fantastic area to play baseball on.

Many thanks also goes to Lafarge Aggregates who have supplied us with our special mix for the bases and pitching mound for the second year running.

And lastly many thanks to our Club Sponsor Hancocks Cash and Carry for their continued support, and in particular the portable clubhouse which has kept us dry during the challenging weather this season!

Western Park, Leicester - The new home of the Sox
February 9, 2008  --   After more than half the 2007 season playing all our games away, the priority for the Sox over the winter has been to find a home field. After at lot of hard work by Shaun Hill, Mark Meredith and others in talking to various local land owners and councils, work finally began on February 9th 2008 on our new home at Western Park, Park View off the A563 New Parks Way, in the North East of the City. Huge thanks to to everyone involved in marking out and building the field and obtaining equipment and to Leicester City Council for their willingness to accomodate us and allow us to build our field to our specifications.

A big thank you to our Sponsors and Squad
October 12, 2007  --   After a successful first competitive season in the Midlands Division One, the Blue Sox Management would like to extend their thanks to our Club Sponsors Hancocks Cash and Carry Ltd and Lafarge Aggregates Ltd for their on-going valued support, without which the Club would find life very much more difficult. Thank You.
Thanks and congratulations also go to the entire coaching and playing staff for their hard work and efforts throughout the season. After the set back of losing our home field early on, you continued to show your committment and team spirit despite having to find any bit of land in Leicestershire to train on and travel away to every game played. Thank you to you all. Heres to next year!!

    Sox @ The Bulldogs
    June 3, 2007 - 01:00 PM --   Blue Sox 5-15 Bulldogs

The Blue Sox travelled to Halesowen for their first game against the Bulldogs this season. An unfortunate warm up injury to catcher Brett Melville meant a last minute reshuffle in the line up with James Tanner doing very well in an unfamiliar position. But in truth the Sox found their batting performance limited in the face of some excellent pitching from the Bulldogs.

Maple Leafs @ The Blue Sox
    May 20, 2007  --   Maple Leafs 19-9 Blue Sox
    Maple Leafs 7-8 Blue Sox

With the game against the Bulldogs falling foul of the wheater this was our first home games of the seaon. The Maple Leafs made a great start in the first game and continued to apply pressure all afternoon. The Sox on the other hand started sluggishly but railed to a much improved performance in the second game of the day.

    Blue Sox @ Northampton
    May 7, 2007  --   Blue Sox 9-18 Northampton
    Blue Sox 4-32 Northampton

In this seasons first double header, Northampton continued their great start with 2 home wins over the Sox. In a very long day for the Blue Sox squad, we started brightly with 3 runs in the 1st including a home run by Adam Brown. The delayed first game was very tight with only 3 runs separating the teams going into the last inning, but it was from here that Northampton's experience showed as they pulled away from the Blue Sox and carried that form into the second game of the day. The Blue Sox rallied towards the end of the game, but by then the game was lost. A valuable experience for the rookie Sox squad, in what was at times a fiesty encounter, with many members seeing their first competitive action. This Sunday our first home game against the Birmingham Bulldogs.

    Played one, Won one!
The Sox opened their 2007 League campaign with a convincing 23-8 away win over the Birmingham Maple Leafs. The Sox, after a tight start, pulled away from their hosts to end the game in the Seventh inning on the Mercy rule. The Blue Sox set their stall out early scoring 3 runs in the 1st inning, including a massive home run by 2nd Baseman Ken Chapman and the runs kept on coming all the way through the order. Adam Brown making his first start at pitcher, turned in an excellent performance, restricting the Leafs to only 8 hits and striking out 11 batters. An excellent all-round performance from the whole squad. Next Sunday sees the Sox with a tough away game at the weekends other winners Northampton, who beat the Bulldogs 20-11.

    Annual Awards Night
October 7, 2006  --   At the Blue Sox first ever Annual Awards Dinner, Awards for Best Attendace went to Brett Melville and Sandy Wilson who both managed 28 out of 30 sessions. The night's main award was The Blue Sox MVP (Most Valuable Player) as voted for by the whole squad. Finishing a close runner up was Garry Hedderwick, but the top award presented by Head Coach Mark Meredith went to short-stop Scott McMillan. Congratulation to Scott and all award winners.

Inaugural Game for the Blue Sox
July 2, 2006  --   The 2nd July 2006 was a historic day for the Soar Valley Blue Sox.
At 1pm the very first Game pitch was thrown at the Soar Valley Leisure Centre Diamond against the Manchester Athletics. Ultimately the game was lost to the Athletics but it was a valuable experience for all the new Blue Sox squad members. The game was played in an excellent spirit and a return fixture will be arranged soon. Thank you to the Manchester Athletics.
