     Bulletin Board Guestbook

The Body Shots ship finally set's sail for another voyage of pillaging, plundering, drunkness and mayhem. We take on the teams in Sante Fe Springs leagues and go back to where there are some of the best kept fields. We have lost some major players and key contributors, gone are: Janae, Katrina, Daniel and Cheyanne. We will miss them all and hope prosperious sails and rich booty.

Coming on to the team is Arlene Hernandez, Norman Hernandez, Jonathan and lastly Capt. Jack. We look forward to a fun season and a rich tradition forged by those players today and those from the past. Our priorities are not of championshis to win, but the alcohol to drink and the mayhem that purses afterword. So on a cold dark night with the water still and the fog rolled in be weary for ye might just see our mighty Body Shots vessel coming to reek havoc!!!

Game #6 Would see us go for our 14th win against Crossfire, a team we mercied the 1st time we played them. With myself and Rene out, we had again no show's Arelene - out, Mario - out, Manny - out, Kari was left capt. of the ship, With Arlene out, we had to call on Katrina to help, but even that wasn't enough, we only rolled in with 4 girls and 3 guys, Kari done her best by picking up one of crossfire guys only so he can leave in the 3rd inning, "oh great", She was also able to recruit a guy from the basketball courts. Fernie showed up and pitched and shore up some of the holes. One thing about Body Shots is we will give it our all for 7 inngs and my understanding was as a team we tried to respond but there was just too much damage and too many holes left for a vessel unfit for the ocean and before you can say ball game our 13 game win streak was snapped and the mighty body shot's vessel laid at the bottom of Davey Jones locker!! Well there is next week and a start of a new streak.

    Final Score:
    Crossfire 13
    Body Shots 7

    Next Game
    vs. $30 Cleats

Game #7 would be against $30. Cleats, with our girl side of the roster being depleted I was left with the task of trying to find girls that would fit into out chemistry. I knew Norma would be out, I get a text from Kari, she is out. So I picked up Brittanie from an old friend who use to play on UpnOver. Brittanie may be small but she is a mighty might :). Thinking ok she is a go to shore up our dropping girls, I get to the park to find out, no Aida? no Arlene? great we are in trouble. Rene play's but is hurt with her fingers and ankles, and my wife Fess helps out as well. We roll with 4 girls with Brit, our 5th girl we pulled by me being able to beg Kitty Kat to show up. So we take the field with only 9 players.

We go neck and neck with $30. cleats for 4 innings. In the 5th is when we were able to goose them and able score 3 runs. We goosed them again in the 6th and scored 3 more runs to make it 15, Their last bats they could only answer with 3 runs and it was over. We did lose Rene for the rest of the season. The arthritis in her hands was so severe I had to take her home. Get better Rene!!!

    Final Score:
    $30. Cleats: 12
    Body Shots : 15

    next week vs. Young Guns.

Game #5 Is usually the mid point for the league and a team. The team should be set and jelling. The other teams are also coming into their own. I honestly feel even with some major losses, we still are top of the league talent wise. Well the Body Shot ship has taken on some major damage in it's battles leading into game 5. Injuries to Rene, and not signing a 6th girl has made us vulnerable. So we roll to the game with our usual crew of Aida, Jonathan, Manny, Eli, Capt. Jack, Norma, Kari and myself. Kari brought in old friend Milly. We take the field against Bomb Squad, who only has only 2 wins in the league, how hard can this be?? Well they gave us everything they had and then some. 13 games on the line, 13 wins, 13 victories. When we started this team it was something I never imagined happening. Well we are here with a battle going against B.S. and they have hammer. Rene is needed, she is battling through injuries and takes the field as catcher with the wrong sided glove. Everything is coming up aces for a lose. We roll 4 with their pitcher walking everyone and their mom. They have girls that can hit and catch. They answer with 6 runs of their own. The whole game it was a battle, we were patient with walks, but they would answer with hits every inning. Only one inning we goosed them, but they goosed us also that inning. We didn't have the hammer and we go into the final inning it was tied up and we roll a 4. I wasn't comfortable with us taking the field, players stepping up to play out of postion and doing a great job but there is always that question mark. Ok up 4 runs and here they come, base hit and an out, base hit and another out. 2 outs we are up 2 runs man on 2 and 3, their manager hit's a single to right, and the runner comes charging from 2nd to home. Rene is covering and and Eddie throws a perfect strike from right field to Rene, Rene makes the catch with the wrong glove. The runner comes home he jumps up to avoid the tag, Rene makes the tag on his foot for the final out and we escape with the win.

    Final Score:
    Body Shots 15
    Bomb Squad 14

    Next Week
    vs. Cross Fire

Game #4 saw us take on Team Exreme. With our 11th win in a row under our belt, we have to feel pretty good about ourselves. So we take the field with only 4 girls.......Great, Rene is out due to having her wisdom tooth extracted. So we ask her to take the field and she does as a real trooper, She was hurting but enjoyed playing. As it is I am concerned about us running up the score against inferior teams and my name being mud with the Director. The first 2 innings we just were flat, but by the end of the 2nd we found our groove and just dismantled team exreme. When the smoke finally cleared we saw us mercy them and us getting our 12th win.

    Final Score:
    Team Exreme 2
    Body Shots 20

    Next Week
    vs. Bomb Squad

Game 3 pitted us against Young Guns, the team that is going to give us the most competition. With Rene and myself out it left the running of the team to Kari and Mario; Mario show's up late and Fernie pitches. My understanding is with us batting for our 11th win, this was our worst game played. Luckly everyone convinced Manny to take a baseloaded walk for the win.

    Final Score:
    Body Shots 10
    Young Guns 9

    Next Week
    vs. Team Extreme

Game 2 saw us face a new team called $30.00 Cleats. We are at game time and know Arlene, curse her!! I figured FLAKESVILLE....So Fess is about to suit up when my youngest son VETO's the move citing he dosn't want him mom getting hurt??? Great a little drama before the game. On a positive note Capt. Jack returned form the abyss. So I do the line up and we are visitors and Manny is pissed because he has too much work and decides to take it out on the ball. Plus with him using one of the banned bats it was lights out. HR 1st at bat. Then Arlene decides to play and say's I'm here!! uggghhhh thanks for giving me more white hairs.
Jonathan comes up with base's loaded and hit's a Grand Slam and we are rolling on 8 runs. $30. cleats answer with a zero. We kinda went on cruise control and we were up 14 to zero and thinking mercy, I'm freaking because if we do, I am picturing the Director giving me crap. Well we blow a couple of defensive plays and before you know it we have a game. It is 14 to 9 us, but just as fast as they rolled 9 on us we rolled a 10 spot to answer back. Kari was pretty much hitting her shot's with a double and triple on the righ side and Manny hit another HR. We win this in 5 innings giving us our 10th win in row.

    Final Score:
    Body Shots: 25
    $30. Cleats: 18

Next Week: 6:30 vs. Young Guns
PS: Myself and Rene will be out this game

With game 1 vs. Crossfire and us losing some key componets, I really didn't know how well we would do in our 1st game. I usually had my hands full when I battled with w/Ya Estuvo against Crossfire. Well this isn't Ya Estuvo and the 1st inning pretty much told me how we would do. Like a comfortable pair of jeans or an old sweater. We found our grove and we didn't so much role against a weaker team, it was more of finding a grove upon each other, knowing our outfield is going where and where our infield was playing. The little things, we just clicked. With Crossfire missing players and it being a team of lesser talent it wasn't much of a game, we rolled in 3 inning to a mercey.

    Final Score:
    Body Shots: 17
    Crossfire: 5

    Next Week:
    Body Shots vs. $30 Cleats

So we go into the playoffs as the #1 seed facing Come What May. We just watched Get Down dismantle Nuts and Jugs. NnJ pitcher Rick and I go back to Touch of Power days. He pulled me to the side and asked about Jessica playing with Get Down, I commented about does she have enough at bats to qualify for playoffs? So we get to playing our game and after a rocky start roll past Come What May. In the championship game, during the rules, I get crap for calling out Jessica? What the fuck?? Well that is the last time I comment about a person's elgibilty.

So Get Down is fired up to beat us and tell me stop crying, and they have their cheering section of drunks chirping away. Again there is that tension in the air and they are fired up to beat us. Can't blame them since we owned them during the regular season. Soon their fans start chirping in about going middle on me as well as the guys? Like it would be a challenge to tag a bean bag with arms?? What is disappointing is what one does in the name of competition for what amounts to a $5.00 shirt. After insults exchange back and forth and unpleasant compliments. The umpire finally takes control of the game or tries to. They have 3 guys that go middle with authority. Us maybe 2. Sure enough Dave send's a shot to him and tag's me on the chest. What is f'd up about it is the comments afterword by Get Down. The game moves on and it's a battle of scratch and claw. We are up and I went with a pitch by Eddie only for me to buzz past him. He goes balastic thinking it was intentional and threats me as if I stole his last dollar. Umpire starts to argue with him and I finally tired of all the crap and tell the umpire it's ok, lets just play. If I get hit AGAIN!!! then so be it. Try as hard as he did he hits a candy hopper that goes barely over me all of 1 inch jump. During this time they had the lead throught out the game. I give so much prop's to my team for staying the course, being positive be it down by 12, 10, 5, or 2. With Mario out due to work and Daniel covering, our infield made some great plays. In the 6th we finally caught them and tied it up. Also Mario had come rushing back to make the finaly inning. Again controvery assumed due to Get Down believing I couldn't add Mario in for the finaly innings. He pitches a perfect inning and shut them down 1-2-3. Having been in the game for about 20 years and going, I thought I seen everything. What I seen next disappointed me of my past players. In protesting which for me putting in Mario, they thought they were right and I couldn't. Their fustrastion manifested to the point it got the better of the WHOLE team. Opting instead of taking the field because we were home team, THEY QUIT!!!! Didn't take the field. Maybe they didn't want to be left on the field?? Why?? They just gave up Who know's but themselves. I would never allow that on my team. Even if I have to go out there with 8 guys, 7 guys. I don't care, you never quit!!Never give up!! The scorekeeper was shocked and confused the umpire was happy and we were glad to get out of there.

    Final Score:
    Get Down: ????
    Body Shots: Champions!!!!

With a huge win for us last week against Get Down, I was concern it we would have a let down and come out flat in this game. Well I ran late, Rene ran late, and the team was there looking at us as if saying,
"Dumb Ass why are you late". I get the line up going, Eli is out and Daniel filled in for him. Katrina had asked if she could bat in the game. With such a pretty girl, I was like ahhh, so my response was "F YOU KATRINA!!!, YOU DON'T WANT TO ADD ME TO YOUR LIST OF FRIENDS ON MYSPACE WHY SHOULD I ALLOW YOU TO BAT!!!? HA HA HA No I didn't say that, I said for sure!!!. We rollED with 7 girls in our line up, which we haven't done before. It didn't matter our girls our solid. the best in the league bar none!! So she rotate's at 3rd with Janae is is solid. We started off against Come What May slow, just plating 3 runs to their 1 in the 1st. In the 2nd we saw them roll a 7 on us, with some terrible miscue's on defense. Not covering bag's, throwing the ball away, etc. So they roll a 7 and I'm thinking great we now have a game. We answer with a mesley 2. I honestly felt the ump had something against us cause Janae was robbed early of a infield hit and it happen again. I am thinking man let's get back to what we do best and get out of here. So we continued to play. We finally goosed them(0) for one inning and rolled a 2 again. Damn, freakn 2, we just couldn't get going. In the 4th they plated 1 and we rolled a 10 spot, from there our defense shut them down and we won.

    Final Score:
    Come What May: 12
    Body Shot's 19

next game vs. Nuts n Jugs
For the 1st place seed going into
    the playoffs.

For me being around this game for over 20 years, I pretty much seen everything. The one time I hate playing this game is when it's against good friends and one's you even love; be it tournament ball or league. BEING COMPETATIVE - Being Competative, to me is a basic in human nature. It isn't a cultural thing or a nationality thing. It is human nature, and with that sometimes it get's the best of us. It effect's me and as with anyone else and those around me have seen it get the best of me as well; ask Kari, and Monica. I have learned......... or try to learn from such experiences, to walk away and say it's only a game.

GET DOWN is a solid team that can rack up the runs at will. Once they learn to play with each other and trust each other, it will be light's out even against the better teams. Right now it is still a guys/girls team. We get to the field and there is a little joking amoung the players, but u can tell they(Get Down) wanted a piece of body shot's and preferrable a shirt on a stick to burn. When one play's against friends and the way bat's are today there is usually a rule, no middle. Robert and Co, can go middle at will and with authority with the best of them. I preach to my team about staying out of middle cause your talking about a bean bag with arms covering it on our side.

There is tension, electricty like a play-off game, you can feel it and feed off of it. We our visitors and plate 4 and they answer back with 3 runs. The ump we had was fair but lack a good control for a game like this and verbal command, what can you say it is what it is, you roll with it. So the 2nd inning Eli comes up and he has been stinging the ball all season. What happen's no bat control and goes middle, I yell at him and Robert look's at me with the "What the Fuck look", I can't blame him since Rico AKA Iron Man is pitching and not Eddie. I like all these guy's I know Eli doesn't know them, But Eli isn't the type of player to go middle on purpose. Robert is pissed because it is the preception that it makes it look intentional, which again I totally understand. This is a scratch and claw game. We plate 4 more again, they answer with 2 runs themselves. The game time is going fast, in the 3rd I come up to bat and Rico pitches me short, I went with the pitch, unfortunetaly it went back up the middle, a place I didn't want to hit it to. Man with us having the lead and a couple of miscues by Get Down, Robert look's at me like I should be hung. Not even getting to 1st I am yelling at Rico, "Sorry Bro", I look at Pito and tell him bro it wasn't on purpose. None of it matter, they are pissed. We scratched out another 5 runs and they answered with 3. It was like that up to the last inning. We plated 3 runs they answered with 2. They will be in the championship, right now it's mental with them, we have the edge, hopefully we can ride it out and get out of dodge. GAME MVP goes to Rene Brill for playing 3rd.

    Final Score:
    Body Shots: 20
    Get Down 13

NEXT GAME VS. Come What May

One thing I love about this team is versatillity. We can switch pitchers when I suck(almost always) or missing, to switching infielders and outfielders. Usually with coed teams you are limited to the girls, and what they feel comfortable playing. I GOD I LOVE THIS TEAM!!. Our girls rock, straight out. It has to be one of the best teams I have assembled as far as coed goes.

With that being said we take the field against blue balls. With a name like that I would hope that was something they didn't live up too. So they are short handed and we flip. We take home and they score 1 or 2. We proceeded to get the out's 1-2-3. Then it was our turn to hit and we did, we rolled. When the 3rd out was recorded we plated 14 freakn runs. We pretty much sent a message to the rest of the league. We are for real!!!You better bring your A game against us or it's out. Body Shot's style. We plated 35 runs to their 10. Ump finally seen enough and said mercy.
MVP AWARDS GOES TO ELI FOR HITTING THE CYCLE, CONGRATES ELI.

    FINAL SCORE:
    BLUE BALLS: 10
    BODY SHOTS: 35

    NEXT GAME VS. GET DOWN

So with us sporting our new shirts, we take the field against Under Dogs, who where over matched. We put on a great hitting display and rolled past The Under Dog's 24 to 7. Game Honor's went to Kari Esparanza for hitting a HR and Ron Leo's for hitting the cycle.
    Final Score:
    Underdogs: 7
    Body Shots: 24

Next week game vs. Blue Balls @ 6:45

With myself and Rene gone for BSA Training it leave's the team with Kari and Fernie running the ship. Wish I could have heard that we won but due to error's and not enough hittting we lose this one by 1 run.

The game is reschedule due to rain out conditions.

The team is set and I'm pumped... Everyone that hasn't played with each other has raised eyebrow's to see if it's a legit team I put together. "Would I assemble a team if it wasn't??" On our schedule for the 1st game is "Get Down". This is Robert Soto and Co.: Monica, Melissa, Celeste, David, and Marina, Wow what a way to start the season. I know each and everyone of the player's Pedro assembled and I know they are going to be there when everything is said and done at the end. His guys can bring it almost at will. Monica is the girls team leader and can bring her own thunder when she wants as well. So we do all the formalities of hug's and good seeing you, but once the ump say's take the field..............It's all business.

Their lead off Eddie hit's a shot and stretches a double from a single. Next at bat was Celeste, she hit's it straight to Janae, who pump's fake to 1st and get's Eddie in a pickle, she chase's him to 3rd where I tag him out. This pretty much set the tone for the game. It was a scratch and claw battle. I was trying my best to kept the guy batter's off balance, have them chance bad pitches and not making too many mistakes. For the most part it worked, but the defense also made some key play's as well. Controversy came in the 3rd when I distracted Monica enough to ease up on a pitch she was going to swing at. She ended up striking out and needless to say I ended getting her wrath to my dismay. Later in the 5th with her standing on 3rd, Eddie hit's a shot down the 3rd baseline and it hits' Monica. Monica will always bring intensity to the game which I do love about her. Remind's me of well.....ME!!! So being commpetative like I am and wouldn't expect less from her. I instructed to the blue she is out. He agreed and sent the "Get Down" dugout into frenzie. In all reality she looked to be on the foul side of the bag when she got hit and it should have been ruled foul ball, but with them pressing and us only up by 4 I wasn't going to object. The game kept going back and forth with us having the lead the whole game. Even at the end with us up 9 runs. Pedro and co. made a run and before you know it scored 5 runs and had people on the bag with Robert up. I knew he would try to go for the homer and I was lucky to get him to pop up to end the game.
    Final Score:
    Get Down: 15
    Body Shot's: 19

Next Game vs. Come What May
    9:15

With the dismantle of my Friday team Ya Estuvo I was left to either find another team or not play on Friday's. I tried Pedro's team Get Down. Turn's out Pedro recruited most of my girls from old Sunday team and my good friends Robert and Monica Soto, Couldn't go wrong starting a team with any of these girls. But alas, due to the season fast approaching in only a week; their team was set. So with that being said it was the decision to try to recruit some of my other sunday player's and hopefully would mesh with those of us from the Friday Ya Estuvo team. I placed a call out to one girl I really wanted to see play and that was Janae Mosley. I always wanted to see if I could get her to play again and she was interested. With her came the other book end, and that was Aida Abuhakmeh. Now with these girls, youu can build a team around them. They are young and can bring it; it's just a matter of time before the rest of the softball community start's to come calling. So I pretty much had the core girls I wanted. It was now just filling in the slot's with quality guys. I knew I couldn't start my season with out the combination of Eli and Capt. Jack, So again with them and Manny Montes from Ya Estuvo my 3 core guys were set. Now just plugging a short and a big utlitiy player. I also needed to fill in a 1st base girl. Due to default beyond my control I asked Mario Sencion to help us out. My utility guy really came as a fluke, Fernie, play's on my Sunday team and couldn't make the drive to where his team relocated to which was BLD in West Covina. So he asked if I had room, which my response was sure. So boom we were solid now with guys. My 2 girl subs were Rene Brill and Cat Zarate. Again great pick up's and team player's as well. The last piece of the puzzle has been Cole, she is our work in progross who enjoy's being out there and being part of the team. So with the team set it's just a matter of the how strong teams in the league, to be cont.........

So we continue the swing of facing off against the new teams in the league. Up next was our old players and friends Adolpho and Crew(Diane, Jose). They spun off to do their own thing with supposed Diane's family yet only one of her sisters was playing; not other sisters. I take pride and it is a reflection on our team when you see a team try their hardest due to being competative in bringing out players you normally wouldn't see week in and week out. Just goes to show how much they wanted to win us.

Adolpho brought in John, who did a great job keeping us off balance pitching and Bunnie who has yet to be seen on this side of 60 fwy in Pico Leagues. This game was about not focusing on what we need to do to win but more of they can't beat us attitude. It's just another game

We continue the swing of facing off against the new teams in the league. This week we went up against XXplosion. With them being short, they picked up Marissa from Goodtimes and were still only 9 players. In turn we picked up Diane to give us our 10th player due to us being short as well. :(

In the 1st inning with us being visitors we plate only one run and they answer with 2 runs. In the 2nd we spun a cap and rolled through the line up scoring 14 runs and didn't look back. I think that is a 1st in Body Shots history. In a nut shell we pulled out the win due to our girls finding ways to get on base to eventually score. They did this by either taking walks or errors by the other teams defense.

    Final Score:
    Body Shots 17
    XXplosion 10

    Next Week vs.
    Yours Suck @ 1:15 p.m.

Team: This season is going to be won and lost by our girls. The men on most teams are stacked. Alot of these teams we are facing has guys that play 3-4 times a week plus tournaments. Our wins might be less frequent because of this. But when they do happen it is only more satisfing. I say this mainly because we are not like the rest of the teams out there. My decision on picking up players is not just based on talent, but a huge chunk is based on CHARACTER.

We start the season with 4 new teams coming in: Trojans, Xxplosion, Yours Suck, and Bite Me. Our first game draw is against Trojans. They didn't look much like a team, but once the game started they played every bit of one and then some.

With the team revamped and feeling confident we come up first and could only plate one run against the Trojans. Janae Mosely is the real deal. She has game and will only get better as she gets older. So we take the field and now roaming the outfield is Aida. I couldn't get into a groove an walks lead to runs. Two walks = 2 runs they scored. We go up to bat an again only plate one run, The fustrating part is David hits a double then Eli follows with a triple. Our girls in this inning went 1-2-3-. Trojans come up and continue to hit and roll a 5 on us. We are digging a huge hole and is looking at being 6 runs down. In the fifth inning, we're looking at the score being 3 to 12 them and again our girls struggled with their bats. It wasn't until the 6th inning that we were able to plate 4 runs. I finally switched pitchers and let Elvia go at their hot bats. She finally was able to control their hitting and gave us a chance to catch up. In the last inning down by 5 we rolled exactly that to push the bottom of the 7th. With two outs and the winning run on 2nd their girls clutched up and got the winning hit.

So we start the season with a lost and continue next week.

    Final Score:
    Body Shots: 12
    Trojans: 13

    Next Week:
    2:30 vs. Xxplosion

    Pre season talk

We start the 07 Winter season with a new look. At 3rd comes Janae Mosely. We expect good things from her in the hot spot. The rest of the infield is still solid. It's our outfield that has been overhauled. Gone is Adolpho and Jose. We still have Eddie, Frankie and Eliase to roam the outfield shoring it up with David Betancourt and Estaban Guevarra. Ada Abuhakmeh spelling Monica in the outfield. Lastly due to my scout outings on the weekend Elvia Rivera was picked up to pitch when needed. We have seven teams coming in. Expect D-X to be reloaded, UR-Sucks to be stacked and you never know who Hugo will have but he will make a run as well. We should be in the thick of things guys. We start this week and need to play like we are capable of, a unit. Not individuals but a tight group, we know what each other is capable of. Time to lace them up and take them down. Body Shots style..........

    softball guy out

We ended up the 3 slot in the playoffs having to face D-X after we just beat them in the final week of the season. They are a very solid team but like in any sport, sometimes teams just has another teams #. The good thing about that is we had D-X's. We had emphasis all week and the week before that for the guys to do their job the girls needed to do theirs. True enough the girls came out the gate hitting in this game. We put up enough runs to cruise to a playoff win.

So we were in the show, against our arch rivals Goodtimes. Now Goodtimes has had our # all season. We knew going in to this game it wasn't going to be an easy one. Sure enough we battled, both teams did; making some great defensive plays. I kept their bats off rytheme for a couple of innings but it just wasn't good enough. I started to throw to many balls which lead to walks. To me that was the game, the walks. They took advantage of it and then a couple of miscues in the outfield and we went from a 1 to 1 ball game in the 5th inning to a 8 to 1 run ball game. We tried to answer back but the lead was just too much and the final score was 7 to 17 :(.

It's just a game that we all take sometimes to competative which in turn leads to bad blood between two teams. As much as I don't want to, I have to give props to Goodtimes with the talent they had they accomplished what they set out to do. I think what dissappoints me is not being able to watch my team enjoy that celebration last season. I guess it still bugs me there was no opportunity to relish in winning a league championship. Which eveyone should have the op to do onetime or another. It isn't about winning a league champ t-shirt, because those that the league give out are crappy.

On a finally note to cap of the Fall 07 season, Adolpho along with his wife Dianne and Jose had left to form their own team with family members. We want to wish them good luck and thanks for the past couple of seasons.

So with us basically playing for 2nd place and hoping D-X takes out Good times we are in playoff mode. Goodtimes is undefeated and we had our shots against them to give them a lose but came up with zero's, chances are they win the division with no play-offs if they continue their winning ways. We continued with our schedule and found ourselved playing against Kari's team Down N Dirty. They are struggling at staying consistent with their players showing up. We know we can beat them 9 times out of 10. It's the 10th time facing them that concerns me. The bright spot this season is seeing Monica and Aida come around with their bats and on base percentage. Monica is leading us in walks.

Playing Down n Dirty with Kari, Pearl, Gil, Pancho and Millie is always good times whenever we get together. It's tood bad someone has to lose or do they?? As usual they ended up short and league rules state you can pick up players to prevent forfiets but they must play at right field and catching. They picked up Gus from Sun Devils to play short and he done a great job and they picked up another guy for the outfield. I wasn't going to call them on these rules because I felt if we can't beat them with who we have we shouldn't win in the first place.

We take the field and DND score 2 runs of me, I am not feeling this game and walks again kill me. In essence the walks carried innings longer then they should have been giving their guys a chance to put the ball in play. So they score 2 and we come back and score 4. We goose egg them for the next 3 innnings, in the 3rd I let Jose4life pitch, he did a great job and made some plays up the middle I have no chance on. We plate 1's in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th innings. In the 5th the score 2 and we answer with 3 making the score 11 to 4 us. In the 6th the score 3 and we can only answer with 1 in our bottom. So going into the 7th we are up 7 to 12. Jose and I switch, with me going back on the hill. The time off with me not pitching killed me and the team. I went cold and walked 4 and couldn't find a groove. Before you know it they roll an 8 on us, a freakn 8 damn. I am thinking I just blew our chances for 2nd. What bothered me is the following, watching our team with us having the hammer(meaning last ups) walk into the dugout like someone took our lunch money while in grade school, or we just got a wedgie from the school bulley. We have played on the same team now for two season's and we have been through the battles and scraps with other teams we are not a rookie team yet we walk in like we just got bitch slapped. Fine I made a bad call but the game isn't over with yet. Pick your head up people and grab a bat, if we cant' score 3 runs we should just quit playing this game.
So I lead off with a triple because my fat ass can't run any faster. Our girls just couldn't get the bats going this game. Following my hit, Adolpho got on with a single and Robert continued with a HR. This tied the game, we had again an opportunity to win but couldn't do it. The tie although not a lose hurt our chances of securing 2nd place and helped D-X for it. We just need some help now from the other teams.

    Final Score
    DND : 15

Next Game is a double header on the 14th
    1:45 vs. D-X
    3:00 vs. D&D

With us basically having to win Goodtimes to force a playoff, us defending our championship was at stake in this game. Two weeks before I wasn't on the mound pitching and the team just didn't have an answer for this Goodtimes team. The score then was 17 to 5. After talking to several players the mistake made was not putting myself on the mound and actually seeing the team flaunder with no direction. We couldn't play like this again and have a chance of winning. I took the hill and sure enough it was night and day with the way the team played. I wish this could have an happy ending but life is always filled with them neither is softball.

Lets face it between Goodtimes and Us there is bad blood. They don't really like us and we don't like them, well just a couple of players. We started the game shutting them down and coming and plating 3 runs. I like what I saw and with us having the hammer we had every chance to win this game. But we couldn't add to the runs we sat on them like chickens on eggs. In the bottom of the 4th we added another 2 and I was pitching good enough to keep them off balance. I give their girls credit because the were hitting everything I was throwing at them. In the 5th is when the walls came crashing down. They plated 9 in the top, damn there went my shut out and now we have a game. Again give credit to their girls because their guys were in check for the most of the game. We didn't answer the next two innings and were goosed. The only thing going for us is we had last ups. So with the league championship on the line we musted a come back and plated in 3 runs with some hits from our girls "YES OUR GIRLS". With come back mounting we had a busted play that only had us resenting Goodtimes even more. Monica comes barreling home and try's to slide at the last 2nd. Robert is covering and lay's into her pretty hard. If it was me, I would probably given her a pass and made a sweep tag, but to make matter's worse Robert didn't even bother to check on her only to bitch to the ump about she need's to go down. Thanks A-hole, where is your sportsmanship RICHARD!!!! So with 1 out we are thinking the possible down 3 runs and we are home. Our Aida makes the 2nd out and we have runners on 1st and 2nd with the tying run at the plate. Even with a tie we force a playoff. Frankie comes up and if I would put money on anyone this would be it, yes he has struggled but I do believe in the kid, but he just couldn't punch the ticket and we lose by 3.

    Final Score:
    Goodtimes 11
    Body Shots 8

We roll again in a double header next week and see if maybe D-X can take out Goodtimes.

We face off against Goodtimes where 2 weeks earlier we endured a good ol ass whomping. Our playoff chances start today. If we win we well see them again, if we don't then we'll be needing help from the rest of the league.

Well the season finished with some confusion and dissappointment. With the understanding of us dropping down to the lower division once the playoff started had us confident we would for sure take the division hand's down. How could we lose we had are only lost to Bite Me in the upper and finished out strong. Well the confusion happen when the playoffs started and the #1 seed wasn't invited to the dance?? How can that be, well only with MLS would that happen, so there we were thinking we would have a playoff game only to get the familiar call on Sunday morning, no game you guys will be awarded 1st place prizes and friends this is where the disappointement set in. Instead of us getting the satisfaction of winning a championship on the field after a win it was like yes you won congrats and see you next season. What the F?? Yup pretty much,
With the playoffs continued only to encourage the floundering teams to return. Teams that were struggeling to go 4-6 had that chance of a wonderful feeling we were denied. Oh well just bitch about it, move on and hopefully it won't happen next season.
So instead we BBQ and had a great time with Gil from Down N Dirty watching the teams we would play in the fall.
OH GUYS WE ARE THE CHAMPS AND CONGRATS ON A GREAT SEASON

With us taking a much needed day off due to the Holiday Break we finally got back some healthy players from the injuried list.

We continue play in the upper division and again faced off against Kari's Down N Dirty team. Right from the get go, Down N Dirty hit me hard, scoring 6 runs in the 1st, ouch!!! With Adolpho and Jose"I'm bringing sexy back." back in our line up we answer with 7 runs of our own in the bottom of the 1st. In the 2nd they rolled 2 and we rolled 5 but without controvesy. It never ever, EVER fails me, that there is some sort of drama in our dug out. Thank God it wasn't due to me this time. Jose for life had batted out of order and we skipped Eddie's turn in the rotation. Once the inning was over I pulled both aside and told them the error and to recorrect it next time up. The score keeper Arlene knew it as well.

The thing is, is Kari's team didn't catch it until the game was already pretty much over with. Gil their pitcher was smart enough to know something was wrong but didn't know the correct position on how to appeal the batting out of order rule.

The rule states that it's up to the other team to protest it, usually when the infraction occurs. They should notify the ump who confirms with the scorekeeper the infraction before the next pitch. If doing so then an out is recored. It is the other teams responsibility to bring it up to the ump and scorekeeper not the other way around. Once a pitch is thrown and then brought to their attention The penalty is the correct batter will resume his place in order and the play we be replayed. After some question about it, play was resumed and the game completed.

    Final Score:
    Down & Dirty 8
    Body Shots 28

So we finish the 1st of our double header with a lost against Bite Me. We played our 2nd game against Kari's Down N Dirty team. The advantage to us is we have our bats warm and we score 7 runs in the first innings. I take the mound and they only score 1 off of me. The 2nd saw us plate another 5 and they score 2 at this point we can feel the game is ours. We watch them plate 1 and 2 in the 3rd and the 4th with them having the hammer. we continue to plate another 3 runs and the game last only 5 innings.

    Final Score
    Body Shots: 15
    Down N Dirty 6

    Next Game:
    vs. Down N Dirty

With the possible melt down in the dug out in our 4th game no thanks to me. We were left on top in the #1 spot of our division. We just blasted out D-X the last remaining undefeated team bysides us. Yet instead of us having fun, I let winning take presidence over what we are really there for. Being in this game for over 18 years you sometimes see things happen before they actually do, like a slow moving train wreck. Sometimes it's best to leave things alone and let them be. Something, I, at my age have yet to master. I thank those on the team that were able to see past my short comings and acknowledge any and all postive out of the drama I stired.

So we are in 1st place and feeling good because no one is touching us and we had a melt down, along with 2 of bigger sticks went down due to injuries. All this only lead to me getting a phone call from the director stating, "You done a fine job of waxing everyone that your team gets the privledge of moving up??" I said what?? Sure enough we swap with the upper division's last place team and move up to where Hugo and his boys are, Bite Me. Returning repeat champs Frankie and his Bounty Hunters, along with Kari and her Down and Dirty squad. I figure how hard can it be?? What hasn't already destoryed us can only make us stronger right?? I at least hoped so.

We get a double header going into the new division and our 1st game is against Hugo's Bite me. Jose is again MIA this game, but we have all our girls showing up and are the strong point of the team. But on this day we all played like do-do. I didn't pitch due to my hamstring still sore from playing in a tournament the day before. Elvia was up for the challenge and we started off really good. We only allowing 3 runs in the first 2 innings; that was about as good as it got. After that it went bad, very bad!!! After 2 innnings we were only down 1 run with us having the hammer. In the 3rd we saw the flood gates open, the xpress lane light on, the car pool lane open, any and all analogies you can think of to use happend to us. It got ugly. Hugo's team just rolled on us, putting up 17 unanswered runs. I came in to relieve Elvia after 11 runs. We finally got the 3rd out but we didn't know how to respond. It was like us getting knocked out or someone throwing cold water on our face. Plus I believe the thought of us plaing in the upper division might have had some of our players a little intimidated. Any how we just couldn't get anything going offensively. The came up to bat in the 5th ad scores 4 more runs and we could only answer with 4 ourselves. Game Over

    2nd Game of Double Header
    vs. Down & Dirty.

So on the 4th Game we played the last undefeated team called D-X and just rolled past them. I don't have the stats for that game but will be posting it once our Asst. Mgmr Robert returns from a much deserved vacation.

Well the shots we have been taking have been going down really smooth compared to last season's. Yet we knew it wasn't going to be a cake walk, this season. We took are first blow when our leadoff hitter Adolpho Reyes was put on the DL for at least a week maybe three due to a high sprained ankle. Our triplets returned from camping in the woods. We have faced 1 decent team and 1 weak team and still haven't jelled like I know we can. This season is a learning process that have gone our way and has made playing fun. So we take the field against a team that is 3-0 and called Down and Dirty.

Down & Dirty are vistors and retire their side with three quick outs. We come up and plant 4 runs right away. With Adolpho out, we had Frankie Gonzales spell for him. In the 1st at bat we are again hit with another injury. Jose 4 life goes down with a hamstring pull it's bad enough he can't take the field. We make the necessary adjustments and Down n Dirty comes back and rolls a 6 in the top of the 2nd inning. We answer back with 2 of our own to tie the game up at 6 a piece.

I have been real fortunate on the mound pitching, with us being in the lower division the guys are not as patient and have been bailing me out by swinging at ball 4 pitch's. On the other hand our guys for the most part have been the opposite and are willing to take a walk. That usually the difference in a win or a lost in coed games at this division. Our team I think is near the top of the league if not the top team. We have players stepping up each and every week, this week was no different. In the 1st inning with the guys playing shallow, Celeste blast the ball over their head for a double. Frankie a kid still learning the game came in at the right time and is showing he wants very much to be part of this team. This particular game saw time being a factor, we were only going to get 5 innings in and our last up would be in the 4th. In the 4th we pretty much closed the door and rolled a 7 to make the score 15 to 7 us. With me giving way to Elvia on the mound D&D did get their chance to tie the game if not push it to an extra inning; instead they went down in a 1-2-3 fashion to end it.

    Final Score:
    Down N Dirty: 7
    Body Shots: 15

    Game Honors:
Celeste Betancourt- Celeste blast for a double not only fired up the girls but made D&D think twice about who they were playing.
Frankie AKA "Whats Shappening Momma's" Gonzales - Filled a major gap allowing us to continue our win streak.

    Next Game:
    vs. D-X at 1:45

Rivaleries are born by shear hatered sometimes, others times it can be caused by admiration or a reflection of one's self. Lastly it may be brought to life by mere chance. Either way it doesn't matter, because once it's going there is nothing else like it. Lucky Lucky can be considered a rivalry with Body Shots. We know them and they know us, well at least Robert and myself. Both teams reloaded for the summer season and it would only take our 2nd game to find out who has the better team.

Like mentioned already rivalries can be fun and or a pain in the azz. Lucky Lucky led by Robert Hernandez and his daughters Arlene and Maritza had the hammer(Home Team) in our 1st match up. They jump on us for 2 runs. In the 2nd inning we answered with 4 to make it 5 to 2. They answered back with 1 in the 3rd and 4th inning. The 5th inning saw us get a little seperation with the score being 10-6 us. Now our guys are good but this season are girls are awesome. Lead by Diane at 3rd and Margarita at the dish along with Elvia and Monica. We have the best women in the league bar none. I say this just by watching these women play, play with heart and having fun playing. We played great defense by the end of 6 innings the score was 12 to 8 us. In the 6th inning came contraversy, with our Robert at 2nd base Diane hits a infield fly ball towards Lucky Lucky's pitcher Robert. Well our Robert still standing at 2nd yell's, "Me, it's mine." Hearing this Robert H from Lucky lucly lets the ball drop thinking his shortstop called him off. Maritza and Robert called time and argued the ruling with verbal interferance. This is a rule I don't agree with but thanks to the softball god's and Big Daddy who stated, "I didn't hear who said it." everyone was safe. So with 2 outs we score 3 more runs before the 3rd out is finally recorded. In the last we finally put the game out of reach by scoring 11 runs. The play of the game came with Jose's blast in right field for a HR with 3 people on. Margarita was rounding 3rd and everyone telling her to go and she responded "Are you sure???" that was classic. That is what sunday coed is all about.

    Final Score
    Body Shots: 23
    Unlucky lucky: 8

    Game Honors:
Diane Reyes: this women played her ass off with a bad knee and with a NO FEAR attitude at 3rd. She took a couple of bad hops off her hand and isn't afraid to slide.
Eddie Sandoval: Eddie has been consistant with his hitting and was one hit away from the cycle.

    Next weeks game
    vs. Down n Dirty 3:00 p.m.

After having a disappointing season losing to teams we should have owned realization set in. Monica Soto along with her brother Robert who she brought in last season felt we needed to revamp the team and a recruiting we went. Coming back besides them two and myself was Eli and Margarita, great people who we wanted to build the team around as well.

Showing signs of promise where Celeste Betancourt along with her younger sister Marina. They filled in gaps in the end of the last season to the point where we wanted to pick them up on a permanate basis. Also with them came Nadia and Adia Abuhakmeh, sisters who are not only good enough that they can hang with season veterans; but also are great off the field as well. Eli recruited his neighbor and friend Eddie who fit's in pefectly with the team.

With the need for speed in the outfield I went after a kid brought on by Robert Lopez in my men's team. This kid has the tools to be an impact on any team. The flip side was not know him well enough to feel confident he'll commit. Jose Gutierrez is that kid. When calling he was upbeat and positive. Once we found out we knew a mutail party it only sealed the deal. The party in question turned out to be Adolpho Reyes.

The best pick up by far was the addition of Adolpho Reyes and his wife Diane Reyes. Adolpho and I have history when he ran on my tourney team No Fear. He is a proven winner and doesn't have the ego like other prima donna's. He is great person to hang with off the field as well. Diane is solid at 3rd and has a stick on her. With a team that is consistent in showing up you can count on being in almost every game which is a major improvement then last season when we couldn't even score 10 runs a game. This should be a fun season upon us I hope everyone enjoys the team and the friendships that come from it. Also please leave your comments in the guestbook section
