The Fight For Playing Time Begins!
April 18, 2008 --
With the start of the R.A.F.L. season two and a half months away, the Hudson County Bounty Hunters have been getting down to serious business, with practices becoming more and more intense as the season approaches. Coach Morgan and the Bounty Hunter coaching staff have been working diligently to make sure the team is adequately prepared to make a run to the 2008 Metro South Division Title. It won't be easy with the defending division and conference champions New York Predators standing in the way, but nothing worth having ever is. The players have been pushing each other in practice, trying to bring the best effort out of one another. With scrimmages less than a month away, the climb up the depth chart starts now-and remember, NO EXCUSES!

Inspirational Quote of the Month
May 11, 2008 --
I don't like to lose, and that isn't so much because it is just a football game, but because defeat means the failure to reach your objective. I don't want a football player who doesn't take defeat to heart, who laughs it off with the thought, 'Oh, well, there's another Saturday.' The trouble in American life today, in business as well as in sports, is that too many people are afraid of competition. The result is that in some circles people have come to sneer at success if it costs hard work and training and sacrifice.

Bounty Hunters Hold Off Mustangs 26-23
August 9, 2008 --
Bounty Hunters Got Off To A Fast Start; Holding Off Mustangs 26-23
Jersey City, New Jersey- In a game that looked like a sure blowout for the Hudson County Bounty Hunters in the first half, where they put up 26 points, the Philadelphia Mustangs showed why they are one of the best football teams in the Regional American Football League, by fighting their way back and having a chance to win towards the end.
The Bounty Hunters started the game off by running the ball extremely well on their first drive; with former University of Massachusetts star Bryan Smith rushing five times for 35 yards, and then quarterback Robert Crawford capping the drive off with an eight yard touchdown run. The two point conversion attempt failed. The Mustangs answered back with a score of their own, by making the extra point attempt, gave them their first lead of the game at 7-6. With Smith hurt, nursing an ankle injury, the Bounty Hunters had to look to another player to fill the void at running back, hence Smith’s identical twin brother Brandon. Brandon enters the game and the Bounties do not miss a beat, scoring on their next three possessions lead by Smith running behind the punishing offensive line to the tune of 16 carries for 138 yards with one touchdown. Smith also had a ten yard catch from Crawford for a touchdown, and the score at halftime was 26-7 in favor of the Bounties.
The Mustangs showed in the second half why they are a favorite in the Delaware Valley Division of the R.A.F.L.. They scored late in the third quarter to cut the score to 26-13 with the 2-point conversion failed. The Bounty Hunter defense which was stellar in the first half, took a bend but didn’t break the approach in the second half. Led by former Dickinson High standout Daniel Cooper who had a monster game with 10 tackles and 2 forced fumbles, the defense came up with a couple of key stops. With the Bounties having possession on fourth down at their own 12 yard line, Head Coach Bobbie Morgan Sr. decided to take an intentional safety, rather than have the chance of the Mustangs blocking the punt and scoring a touchdown. This cut the lead to 26-15. The Mustangs then scored a TD pass on their next drive, and with the 2-point conversion cut the lead to 26-23. After an onside kick, which was recovered by the Bounties, things got really interesting. After a first down run by Brandon Smith, the Bounties fumbled the exchange on the next rushing attempt. With 57 seconds left and 3 timeouts the Mustangs moved the ball to the Bounties 35 yard line where they attempted a field goal with 27 seconds left to tie the game. The field goal was blocked, and the Bounties came away with the upset victory.

Bounties Trample Tribe!
August 16, 2008 --
Amityville, Long Island- The Hudson County Bounty Hunters took care of business against non-division Regional American Football League opponent Long Island Tribe, defeating them by a score of 28-6. The Bounties sent a message early by intercepting the first pass of the game which was returned by Rashan Rowan for a touchdown, but a pass interference call on Shyheem Anderson gave possession back to the Tribe. The defense then stopped the Tribe on a fourth down conversion attempt. The Bounties opened the scoring up when former Bayonne High quarterback Robert Crawford found former Lincoln High wide receiver Hector Gutierrez in the back of the end zone for a 6-0 lead.
After the Bounties defense, which was stellar throughout the game, forced another three and out, the offense marched right down the field capped off by a five yard touchdown run by Crawford which made the score 14-0. This is the lead the Bounties took into halftime. After two more stops by the defense in the third quarter, Rashan Rowan took a Tribe punt and returned it 75 yards for a touchdown. The two point conversion run by Brandon Smith made it 22-0. In the fourth quarter, the Tribe finally hit pay dirt in the form of a 70 yard TD pass which cut the lead to 22-6 after the failed 2-point conversion. After a 3 and out by the Bounties, the Tribe offense stalled out yet again, and was forced to punt, Linebacker Earl Thomas blocked the punt, and recovered it, setting up a two yard TD plunge by Daniel Cooper, after the failed 2pt attempt, the final score remained 28-6.

Bounty Hunters Win First Ever Playoff Game
Long Island, New York- Owners Bobbie & Diane Morgan, coaches and staff are in very high spirits with their Minor League Semi-Professional Football team The Hudson County Bounty Hunters as they continue to surprise opponents in the Regional American Football League. After finishing their inaugural regular season with 5 wins and 5 losses, the 14th seeded Bounties pulled off a huge upset defeating the number 3 seeded Long Island Pit bulls 27-21 to move into a second round playoff matchup against the undefeated and top seeded Metro South Division Champion New York Predators, who defeated the New Jersey Lions, 34-33.
Former Bayonne High School and University of Massachusetts product Brandon Smith led the Bounties rushing attack with 16 carries for 150 yards and 2 touchdowns filling in for his injured twin brother Bryan, who went down early in the second quarter. Bryan, who was named R.A.F.L. rushing champion with a total of 895 yards on 95 carries, finished the game with 65 yards on twelve carries and a touchdown.
The defense, led by former Snyder high standout Darrell ‘Ruckus” Heins, and former Dickinson High linebacker Daniel Cooper, had seven tackles each. Special Teams played a big part in the victory over the Pit bulls, with R.A.F.L. Special Teams yardage champion Rashan “Shakes” Rowan putting the offense in great starting position every time he touched the ball.
The playoff contest against the Predators is this Saturday in Staten Island, at Monsignor Farrell High School Field, 2900 Amboy Road at 8 pm.
