2006 Blueclaws Select FABL for Spring Season
March 1, 2006 --
The 2006 Brentwood Blueclaws will play the Spring Season in the Federation of Amateur Baseball League (FABL). "Opening Day" is Sunday, April 23, 2006. League commissioner, Len Renna, was estatic that the Blueclaws decided to play in the league.

2006 Blueclaws Budget
January 13, 2006 --
The Brentwood Blueclaws' 2006 budget is $9,500 or $680 per player. The budget includes new uniforms and 4 tournaments-Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, and Columbus Day. There will be six (6)payments to make, starting with $142.50 by January 31, 2006 and $142.50 by February 28, 2006 for the Spring Season.

The Brentwood Blueclaws relinquish 1st place to the Garden City Pride after dropping the first game of a doubleheader 10-5 and a tie in the second game 7-7. The Blueclaws lost it on runs scored differential in head-to-head competition.

The Brentwood Blueclaws played the worst two games of the Fall Season as they were victimized by the Valley Stream Bulldogs 14-1 and 11-1. Terrible defense, no offense, and ineffective pitching were the undoing of a team had shown enormous potential towards being a solid all-around team. Coach, Julio Acosta, said "How can we look so good one week, then fall on our faces the following week. It is frustrating to see a talented, well practiced team, falter."

Sosa's Mother Dies in DR

Brentwood Blueclaws outfield coach Luis Sosa's mother passed away on September 28, 2005 in the Dominican Republic. Our sincere condolences to the Sosa family.

Merrick's Little League Robbie Levine Dead
September 29, 2005 --
Robbie Levine, 9, a little leaguer from Merrick, Long Island, NY collapsed and died while running the bases at the Merrick Little League Complex on September 28, 2005. We believe he played against the 10U Brentwood Storm over the 2005 summer. Our sincere condolences to the Levine family.

Blueclaws DoubleOneRun Long Island Playmakers, Acosta & Aguiar Homer
September 24, 2005 --
The Brentwood Blueclaws double one run the Long Island Playmakers 7-6 and 3-2 to improve their record to 5-1 in FABL play. In the 1st game, John Acosta homered to tie the game and the "Crabs" won on a wild pitch that scored Mario Lopez. Christian Torres was the winning pitcher as he threw a complete game. Likewise, Eric Perdomo threw a complete game victory 3-2 in the 2nd game, with Raymond Aguiar homering to tie the game and Michael DeJesus scoring the winning run on a fielders's choice. Note, the Playmakers are the #1 ranked team in America for their age group 10U, according to the Junior Baseball Magazine. Brentwood's John o'Boyle is a member of the Playmakers--congratulations.

Blueclaws Split Roslyn Buldogs, Perdomo 1 Hitter 13 Ks
September 11, 2005 --
The Brentwood Blueclaws split a doubleheader with the Roslyn Bulldogs 5-1 and 3-0. In the 1st game, pitcher Christian Torres came in relief for Joell Nieves in the 2nd inning and held the Bulldogs to 1 run the rest of the ballgame, but the "Ocean Creatures" were unable to launch an effective offensive attack. In the 2nd game we saw a nearly perfect outting for Eric Perdomo, who pitched a 1 hitter, including 13 Ks for a 3-0 shutout victory. Agustin Maldonado had the game winning hit in the 2nd game.

The Brentwood Blueclaws pop the Port Washington Legends in a dounleheader victory 8-6 and 15-4. Shawn Jenkins #55 battled for the victory in the first game. Mario Lopez #2 hit a 3-run homer in the second game.

Applebees' Travel Team Fun Day at BYA
August 18, 2005 --
On Sunday, August 28th, Applebees will host a BBQ for the travel teams--players eat free, others $5.00 (all you can eat). You can bring your own drinks or buy from the concession stand. Make plans to attend the "Travel Team Fun Day" starting at 12:00N. There will be a dunk tank and softball games. All proceeds will be split among the travel teams.

Connell Moves to Centereach
August 17, 2005 --
Centereach is getting a wonderful player. It is the new home of Seth Connell, infielder, outfielder and pitcher for the Brentwood Blueclaws. Seth will be solely missed on the Blueclaws, he was an original "Crab" with a quick and potent bat, plus a versatile defensive player that can pitch consistently. Number 7, will be a great addition to any team he desires to play for. In the foresable future, this Yankee fan, whose model player is Alex Rodriguez, will project to be a top player at the little league, middle and high school levels, if he continues to work on the fundamentals. Blueclaws Sweep Quebradillas, Acosta Homers, Invited to Play the Puerto Rican National Team
April 24, 2005 --
The Brentwood Blueclaws swept a pair of games from Quebradillas of Brooklyn, New York 6-4 and 16-6. A mammoth homerun to the subway tracks by John Acosta in the 1st inning set the stage for an impressive showing by the 'Claws. Pitchers Joell Nieves, Acosta, Shawn Jenkins, and Dillon Reid threw brillantly, helped by fine defensive plays. The sponsor, Jose Flores, for Quebradillas ommented, "You guys look, act, and play like the professionals... Congratulations". Mr. Flores, then extended an invitation to the Blueclaws to play an exhibition game in their Opening Day, May 7th, and the Puerto Rican National Team in July.

March 31, 2005 --
The Brentwood Blueclaws were bypassed the Byshore/Brightwater All-Stars in an exhibition game on Thursday, March 31, 2005 at the BYA Gil Hodges Field by a score of 4-3 in a daylight shorten 4 inning game. A key two-run single by Bayshore's Shawn Fleming of Brenwood's John Acosta was the "nail in the coffin". Great pitching by the Bluecalws' Shawn Jenkins, Eric Perdomo, and Joell Nieves held the All-Stars scoreless for 3 innings, but the lead was surrendered by Edgar Paredes and John Acosta. Joell Nieves was the hitting star for the Brentwood team by driving in 2 runs with a double to right field.

The Brentwood Blueclaws were melted by Malpica from Brooklyn, New York, 11-7 and 8-2. Blueclaws' coach Julio Acosta commented, "Going forward, we need to focus our practices more on situational baseball. Over the winter, we did a lot of work on building basic skills regarding fundamental defense, but we need to prepare for complex defensive situations."

Blueclaws defeat In-House Mix Team
March 20, 2005 --
The Brentwood Blueclaws travel team defeated the mixed in-house team made up of Rangers and Orioles, 8-6. Stellar no-error defense, good pitching, and aggressive baserunning lead the Blueclaws to victory. The in-house showed good team spirit, fundalmentals, and composure in challenging the premier travel team.
Earlier in the day the Rangers, coached by Mo Matabeek and Julio Ruiz, beat the Orioles 8-3.

2005 Season is Here

Are the crabs ready for some real baseball? The 2005 season is here, we will be practicing indoor at Loretta Park on Mondays 5:00PM to 6:00PM and on Fridays from 6:00PM to 7:30PM. If you want to play for the Blueclaws, you must commit to attend most of the practices and do well in school. We are here to help you become a baseball player and a better citizen through education--if you need help with any subject...simply ask.
As of 01/21/05, the following players have shown interest in being on the roster: John, Seth, Michael D, Justin, Shawn, Mario, Christian, Agustin, Joell, Edgar, Dillon, Jonathan, Michael T, and Brian.
As of 01/24/05, the player fees are estimated to be $160.00, per player, for the Spring Season. Try to get your sponsor(s) to donate more than $160.00, a donation of $300.00 or more is ideal. Please submit your fees to Coach Julio, ASAP.

Blueclaws select NJBL for 2005 Spring Season

The Brentwood Blueclaws selected the National Junior Baseball League (NJBL) for the 2005 Spring Season. Due to the availability to play on a 60 feet bases and 46 feet mound, the Blueclaws' coaching staff believe that those dimensions are very friendly to the quality of players on the roster. NJBL plays Sunday doubleheadeers in the Spring, starting April 3,2005 and concluding on May 15,2005; no playoffs, just placement. Please let the coaches know if you would like to participate in a NJBL holiday weekend tournament(Memorial Day, Independence Day, or Labor Day).

Blueclaws Bash Bayshore-Killeen, Take 1st Place
November 6, 2004 --
Brentwood Blueclaws introduce Shawn Jenkins #55 and bash Bayshore-Killeen 16-7. Shawn added depth to the Blueclaws' pitching rotation by striking-out all the batters he faced, played 3B, and went 1-3. Coach Gary Williams, believes, "The team's pitchers are gaining valuable experience and fine tuning their speed, movement, and control--we are getting closer to our pitching objectives".

The Brentwood Blueclaws missed five key players and got stunned by the Smithtown Bulls 23-1 and 16-2. Outfield Coach Luis Sosa, commented, "The lack of players showed that no team can be competitive without it's stars, we were manhandled".

Blueclaws Bombed by Bayshore/Brightwater in an Exhibition Game
September 22, 2004 --
The Bayshore/Brightwater Little League All-Sars bombed the Brentwood Blueclaws 5-0 in an exhibition game on Wednesday September 22, 2004. The game was played at the BBLL Baseball Complex. BBLL's great pitching performance by Jensen, Rivera, Weissert, and others held the Blueclaws "In-check". John Acosta, the Blueclaw's 1B, had two hits and Seth Connell pitched three innings of shutout baseball in the losing cause.

The Brentwood Blueclaws were bumped by the Bayshore-Colon 14-13. Pitching and defense woes costs the Blueclaws a chance at victory in a game they should have won after posting a five run lead in the 1st inning. Assistant Coach Julio Acosta, said "A lack of intensity and focus caused the Blueclaws to lose the game".

The team's inexperience regarding balking, leading, stealing on the pitcher's release, 1st and 3rd situations, plus the opposing team's quality pitching from Rottkamp and Carboni, cause the Brentwood Blueclaws to be swept in a doubleheader against the West Babylon All-Stars 10-3 and 10-0. Coach Reid commented, "That the fall season in to gain experience in 'real baseball'. That wins and losses are not important, but what is important is that the players gain knowledge and improve their skills to play 'real baseball'".

John Kelske, the "Ace" of Blueclaw the pitching staff is doubtful about playing in the fall campaign, as he is planning to play CYO basketball, re-join karate, and concentrate on school work.

Bayshore/Brightwater LL Calls Blueclaws

The Bayshore/Brightwater Little League has contacted the Brentwood Blueclaws, requesting for its participation in their fall league. John Flemming called to see if the Blueclaws were interested in being part of their fall season, played on Saturdays. Decision from the Blueclaws will be made on 9/08/04.

Blueclaws Move to FABL 11U and 12U Division
August 31, 2004 --
Brentwood Blueclaws 10U will play in the 11U and 12U division for the fall season 2004. Field dimensions will be a challenge at 75' bases and 51' mound. Blueclaws will have a tough schedule for the fall season, and the objective is to improve on fundamental fielding, particularly turning double plays, bunt defense, 1st and 3rd situations, plus pitching velocity, movement, and location.
