F.A.Q.s

What is the BCABA?
The BCABA is an Affiliate of the NABA (National Adult Baseball Association) www.Dugout.org, Bringing Baseball back to the people who love the game and love playing it here in Brevard County FL. No where else in the County will you find an 18+ ONLY league.

When does the BCABA have Games?
Mostly on Sundays, we share Fields with the High Schools.

When are practices?
Practices will be held at different times for different teams. Once you have been placed on a team, you can contact your manager or Coach to find out what times and days practices will be held. The managers understand that we are all adults and that we have other responsibilities as well as baseball.

What experience do you need to be able to play in the BCABA.
Knowledge and a love of the game is all you need to play. Well maybe a Glove and a Bat too!

What age is needed to play in the BCABA?
As long as you are above the age of 18 you are good to go!

What do I need to bring to tryouts?
You should bring your gloves, a Wood Bat, and Catchers gear if needed. Also, please bring a 10 dollar registration fee for tryouts to assist with the cost of Balls, Fields, and advertisement. Please wear Baseball appropriate clothing, Flip flops and baggy street cloths will not help you look serious about wanting to be there.

How long will tryouts last?
It depends on how many players show up on each day. We will start registration at 0900. Tryouts should start by 1000, if you are late you will miss out on the portion of the tryouts that you missed (No manager wants a player who is always late so be on time). We will start by hitting each player 3 balls on the ground in the infield, then 3 flyballs in the out field, each player will then have 10 pitches for batting (pitches, not swings) last swing you will run down to first base and be timed, following the hitting the pitchers and catchers will tryout together. Please make sure you are there early to ensure you have ample time to warm up.

How will I know if I made a team?
Everyone who tries out will make a team or be placed into the player pool. These try outs are actually what we call Player placements. Once try outs are complete, the managers and League President will convene and hold a draft of the players that tried out that day. Once the draft is finished your team’s manager will contact you via phone call to let you know which team picked you up.

What is the Player pool?
The player pool is a list of current players awaiting a team. Once the managers of all the teams have drafted to their limit the remaining players will be added to this list. Players in the pool will be notified of their status after all players have been drafted. During the season (or pre-season) if a Team needs a specific position filled on their team, they will search through the player pool and call up a player from the pool. If there are enough players in the player pool to create another team for the league we will contact the players in the pool to see if someone would want to step up to manager a Team in the BCABA.

What if I can not make it to tryouts on that weekend?
Your name will be placed in the final draft. Once all the players who showed up to tryouts have been drafted the remaining teams who are still in need of players will draft you by experience and positions that need filling.

What is the cost of playing in the BCABA?
Being an affiliate of the NABA our costs stay fairly low compared to other organizations. Each player who plays in the BCABA will be insured while playing on approved fields (where your games are held). Each team will have a different per player costs depending on their sponsors. Your team’s Manager will be able to give you a more detailed fee’s list once the season gets closer to opening. Each season of BCABA play will differ as well depending on game locations and fund raising efforts. All in All we the BCABA know it is important to keep per-player costs as low as possible for all those involved!

The Season already started can I get on a team?
Yes just send us an email with your information and we place you into the player pool.

Player Pool

The BCABA Player pool is a location of all the names on the stand by list for teams during the season. Once teams have hit their Roster limits anyone interested in the league can send us their Name, age, location they live, Positions they play, and baseball experience.
Once we receive that information we will send a copy of it to all the managers of the league and put your name on this list so the managers can have quick reference in case they need to fill a slot on their roster. If a player does not get picked up out of the player pool during the season they can tryout for the next season when we hold another player placement day.

The Player pool is empty at this time
