Las Vegas Kings #20 Brandon Gahagan

Brandon Gahagan (21) was shot and killed outside a bar.

Metro Police have arrested the suspect who they say shot and killed a 21-year-old man outside the Olive Mediterranean Grill and Hookah Lounge early Sunday morning.

Friends of Brandon Gahagan don't know why anybody would take his life.

Loved ones held a candlelight vigil to share their memories and prayers at the same spot where his life was taken.

About 40 people gathered to remember their dear friend.

"I love him and always will. God rest his soul because I know he's in a better place," said Desirae Berry, who was dating Gahagan.

Friends say Gahagan worked at The Palms and was also a model.

They describe him as an energetic spirit, who had a bright future ahead.

"He had so much going for him. He was so young. Nobody deserves to go out like that, period," said friend Ashley Carrillo.

Metro won't say what may have started this, but they say two other people were also injured during some sort of scuffle.

Both are expected to be OK.

Meantime, a security guard who was watching over the lot during the incident tells Action News it all started as a fist fight by the front doors of the Hookah Lounge.

He says the suspect was not involved in that fight, but basically came out of nowhere, firing a barrage of shots before firing at Gahagan.

"He just extended his arm and shot him multiple times. He executed him right on the spot," said witness Stanley Clifford.

Metro believes 23-year-old Carlos Orellana is responsible for the murder.

According to officers, he was last seen in possession of a pistol while fleeing the scene.

Officers arrested Orellana Monday night, but there are no additional details as to where he as arrested.

Brandon Dominic Gahagan, 21, of North Las Vegas, died Feb. 1.

Gahagan was born Sept. 20, 1987, in Las Vegas.

He is survived by his mother, Voletta Ireland of Norht Las Vegas; stepfather, Deon Ireland of Las Vegas; sister, DeLesha Ireland of North Las Vegas; grandmother, Carolyn Davis of Las Vegas; grandfather, Wesley Crockett of Burbank, Calif.; stepgrandparents Cynthia and Leon Ireland of Las Vegas; and great-grandmother, Margaret Crockett of Las Vegas.

Services will be held at 4 p.m. Feb. 7 at Palm Mortuary-Cheyenne, 7400 W. Cheyenne Road.

    Palm Mortuary-Cheyenne handled the arrangements.
