On behalf of your Charlestown Little Pirate Football League the board would like to thank all the kids and parents for a wonderful season.  It has been our pleasure spending the last 3 months working with you and your children to make their experience a positive one.  As a parent you have spent many hours attending practices, games, and washing those dirty football pants.  We want to thank you for dedication to those little ones and for taking the time to allow them to be part of our league.  Kids – thank you for working so hard at practices and games to meet your coach’s expectations.  They dedicate a lot of time to help you develop not only as a player but also as a citizen.

We also want to thank the parents that volunteered this season to help make it a success.  From coaching to working in the concessions your dedication didn’t go un-noticed.

We have several unclaimed trophies from our past seasons.  If your name is on the list or you know someone that is on the list please contact us.  We want to get the trophies out to the kids prior to our 2009 season starting and any unclaimed trophies after our 2009 season starts will be broken down as spare parts.

Ladies and Gentlemen your attention please, on August 23^rd, Max Gilpin from PRP Football team passed away from a heat stroke.  Max was the uncle of our flag player, Brendan Hawkins.  Today, our opening day is dedicated in honor of Max Gilpin and his love of football.  We have here with us today Max’s dad Jeff and his step mother Lois.  I would like to read a few words about Max written by Michael Hawkins, Max’s step brother.

Max was an honorable young man dedicated to his family, friends, and football.  He was a role model for both kids and adults.  The way he lived has both touched the lives of so many people.  He was somebody you would want your son to become or your daughter to bring home.  Because of Max we are stronger now then ever.  Gone but never forgotten.
