The Corsicana Youth Baseball Association provides a summer baseball program to all youth ranging in age from 5 to 15 that reside in Corsicana. We are currently serving more than 400 youth per year. All youth regardless of ability or financial status are given an opportunity to participate in the programs.

Stuart J. Beebe is the “father” of Little League Baseball in Corsicana. He started the program in 1951 at a field on highway 31 where the Navarro College Drane Science Building now stands. The original “freshman” league had 8 teams of 10, 11 and 12 year olds. In 1952, he changed the name to the Texas League and added a sophomore league for 13 and 14 year olds. In 1953 he joined the Texas Teenage Baseball Association. In 1955, the program was moved from Navarro College to the present location at Beebe Field. It has since grown to include five leagues.

Mr. Beebe used donations from friends, patrons, the community and his own personal funds to keep the program running. He was dedicated to the youth of Corsicana and to the game of baseball. He spent untold hours of his life at the field doing maintenance work, mowing, scorekeeping, umpiring and just seeing that the youth had an opportunity to play ball.

With the passing of Mr. Beebe, the Corsicana Youth Baseball Association has had to take on the responsibility of running the programs and trying to maintain the park, which was built in 1955. Time takes it toll on all things and the facilities at the park are no exception. Corsicana Youth Baseball began upgrading the facilities last year and intends to continue with upgrades this year which will include four new scoreboards and new lighting on the freshman field. Our goal is to make the park a much safer and enjoyable place to play baseball, the American pastime.

In order to make these improvements happen, the CYBA is asking for your help. Any assistance that you could give towards making these improvements a reality would be appreciated. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact any of our board members.

Your tax deductible contributions may be mailed to Corsicana Youth Baseball, P.O. Box 638, Corsicana, TX 75151.
