    UMPIRE & GAME INFO.

FIELD MAINTENANCE: Each team is responsible to maintenance the field after your game. Failure to do so will result in a $25 fine 1st offense, $50 2nd offense, and team removal 3rd offense. Maintenance means to rake mound, home plate, drag field, and clean up your team trash. Both teams need to get together after game and make this happen. Home team needs to rake/drag field. Visiting team needs to do mound/plate and lines. Both teams must clean out dugouts. After the 4:00pm games are complete all fields must look like we never played there. We will enforce all field maintenance rules this year. Let your team know.  ALL TEAMS ARE RESPONSIBLE!!

PAYMENTS: Each umpire shall be paid $65 cash per game. Each team is responsible to pay 1 umpire before the game starts. Each game will have two umpires.

1 UMPIRE SHOWS UP: In the event that one umpire shows up he shall be paid $100 for the game or $50 per team.

FORFEITS: If a team fails to show up and does not give the league 36hrs notice that team is responsible to pay both umpires. The forfeiting team must pay the fee in full by Wednesday at 5:00pm, failure to do so will result in their next game being forfeited.

GAME SHORTENED: If your game gets shortened due to rain/snow and does not get in 5 innings the umpires will refund you half of your fee. The game will start over on the make-up schedule and umpires will need to be paid in full again.

MAKE-UP GAMES: Make-up games will take place on Saturdays or weeknights. You will be given 2 weeks notice to prepare for your game.

PLAYOFF ELIGIBILITY: Each team’s roster will be frozen as of July 19, 2009. New players may be added after this date but will not be eligible to play in the playoffs.

    2009 Forfeit Policy

It’s the manager’s responsibility to make sure their team has enough players each Sunday. Each manager needs to take responsibility for their team. In 2008, the NABA had numerous forfeits that could have been avoided. The Denver NABA has a player pool that is full of players throughout the year. Manager’s need to utilize this player pool to make sure their team fields a minimum of 9 players each Sunday. In 2009, we are adding a few league rules to ensure that forfeits don’t happen.

    1. Teams must maintain a minimum number of 12-13 players on their roster.

    2. Teams must notify the league a minimum of 48hrs in advance if they believe they will forfeit a game. This will give the league plenty of time to give player pool players to their team to avoid forfeits.

    3. Teams must utilize NABA player pool so they don’t forfeit games.

    4. If a team forfeits ONCE they will be fined $50.

    5. If a team forfeits TWICE during the season it will be mandated that the team picks up and extra 2-3 players from the player pool. We will also look at options to remove the manager from the team and turn it over to someone else.

    6. If a team forfeits THREE times during the regular season they will lose all rights to advance into the playoff round and may be expelled from the league. All final decision will be made by the Denver League President and the NABA National Rule Committee.

Please understand the reason we are doing this is to improve the league. Everyone in

the league pays to play. Each of us looks forward to these games all week. Please

make sure that as a manager of a team you do your part in making sure your team

    has enough players each weekend.

    PRE-GAME

"If the game before your scheduled game takes the full 3 hours to complete, the 30 minutes allowed between

games is to be used for infield/outfield warm-up, not batting practice.  Each team is allotted 10 minutes infield/outfield warm-up.

The home team takes infield first, followed by the visiting team.  10 minutes before the game, managers and umpires should

meet at home plate for exchange of lineups and discussion of ground rules. " --- NABA ---

What this means to us:  to take infield/outfield, at minimum the above time must be met.  If we want more time than allowed we need to arrive earlier (and hope the game before us ends quicker than the three hours), but being later than what is listed above means we miss out on our chance to take an infield/outfield.  Just remember the games will always start on time.  It is up to each person to do what they need to do, to prepare and be ready to go (see section 15 on how to throw).  A league wide unwritten rule seems to be that all players should try to be at the field one hour before game time.  This is a great idea, one that the Vandals try and follow, and one that has been very successful for other NABA teams in the past....

    VACATION ?!?!
If you will be missing a game (notice no "s", missing more than one game will result in a hefty beer fine) because you are not a real man and have decided to something else on a Sunday then please make management aware as soon as possible.
