    The Travel Baseball Creed
    THE TRAVEL PLAYER
.Plays fair, plays for fun, and plays for the love of the game.
.Wins without boasting; loses without excuses; never quits.
.Treats coaches, teammates, opponents, and umpires with respect.
.Understands that playing time is earned and not guaranteed.
.Never forgets that he/she is part of a team.

    THE MANAGER AND COACH
.Inspires in players a love for the game and the desire to excel.
.Leads by example, and is a positive role model on and off the field.
.Displays good sportsmanship by treating players, opponents, umpires, and parents with respect.
.Knows that the game is played by kids and intended to be fun.
.Places the emotional and physical well-being of the players ahead of any personal desire to win.

    THE PARENT AND SPECTATOR
.Never boos a player, a coach, or an umpire.
.Appreciates a good play, no matter who makes it.
.Remembers the game is for the players and lets them have the spotlight.
.Accepts the judgement and decisions of the manager and the umpire.
.Maintains self-control and helps make Travel baseball fun and enjoyable for everyone.

    Lightning Policy
At any time, during any warm-ups or a game, if lightning is spotted by anyone, (players, parents, managers or umpires), play will immediately be suspended and all players shall leave the field. Players are not to sit in the dugouts or under nearby trees, but should go to the nearest shelter or automobile. Managers, coaches and parents are responsible for keeping the players in a safe area. That does not mean running around near the fields or in the parking lots. Have them get to safety and stay there until an all clear is given or the game is cancelled.

Since the THOR GUARD lightning detection system is now available at all parks, these policies will apply: If lighting is present in the area, the detection system will sound a 15 second siren. All players shall immediately leave the fields and go to shelter. No players may use the high school dugouts. Do not stay under trees. Return to the parking lots and stay in your automobiles. If lightning is spotted and the Thor Guard system has not sounded, the game shall be suspended as per the above rule. While the system is detecting conditions where lightning is possible, a flashing light on top Thor Guard system (on high school roof at Lions) will be visible. Once the system determines that conditions are clear, it will sound 3 short blasts. This is the all clear and players may return to the fields and the game shall resume at the discretion of the umpire. A 30 minute suspension of play will be allowed.

    Tournament Team Q and A
October 2, 2009  --   Frequently Asked Questions about Travel Tournament Teams:

    What is a Tournament Team?

Tournament teams are Travel teams that play in weekend tournaments after the House season ends in July. All Tournament team players must play EG House baseball. House practices and games always have priority over Tournament team practices and games. This is an opportunity for talented EG House players to compete at a higher level without the time committment and expense of full-time Travel.

How many games will we play?

Around 10 - 15 games in 3 or 4 tournaments. The number of games will depend on (1) when the House playoffs are done, (2) how many tournaments your team enters, (3) how many games your team wins in each tournament, and (4) how late into the summer your team decides to play. EG Travel teams traditionally stop playing in late July due to Park District football.

    Will Tournament Teams practice?

Yes, but it will not interfere with House practices. It will be difficult for your Tournament team manager to schedule more than one practice a week during the House season. After the House playoffs are completed, your Tournament team may hold more practices.

How much will it cost to play?

This amount will vary by team, but a good estimate is $150 - 250 per player. Major costs are tournament fees ($350 per tournament), umpires for local games, uniforms, hats, and baseballs.

How many players on a team?

Depends on the manager, but a typical roster is 12 - 13 players.

    When are tryouts?

Tryouts will be held in April
