    E-Town Men Eliminated From Chase
February 19, 2008  --   Elizabethtown, PA, Lancaster New Era It was Lycoming that first put a smudge on the Mona Lisa of a season Elizabethtown College's basketball team was painting four weeks ago. Mike Schatzmann scored 13 points in E-town's 56-54 loss to Lycoming on Tuesday. So it seemed only natural that Lycoming would finish what it started and ruin the whole thing Tuesday night. Lycoming, the surprise regular-season champion of the MAC's Commonwealth Conference, handed Elizabethtown a 56-54 loss in Thompson Gym to eliminate the Jays from the race for a playoff berth. February 23, 2008  --   Chester, PA, Sunday News Nyere Miller scored a career-high 26 points and Charles Jones added 19 to lead host Widener over Elizabethtown 84-68 Saturday in a Commonwealth Conference men's basketball game. Widener (20-5, 6-4) clinched its 13th 20-win season in school history and is headed to the conference tournament for a third straight year, including a second for head coach Chris Carideo in as many seasons. Valley sweeps E-town on Hot Dog Frank Day
February 16, 2008  --   Annville, PA, Lebanon Daily News The hot dogs always go down a little easier after a couple wins. At least that’s the way it should have been yesterday at LVC Gymnasium after the Lebanon Valley College men’s and women’s basketball teams celebrated Hot Dog Frank Day with a pair of key Commonwealth Conference victories over archrival Elizabethtown. The women’s win, an 83-57 rout, was the more important of the two triumphs in that it allowed LVC to clinch a Commonwealth playoff berth, its first since the 2004-05 season. The men, meanwhile, had to settle for simply staying alive in the conference playoff chase with a 78-70 victory over the Blue Jays. Click on the Blue Jay Logo at left for the rest of the article.

LVC Beats Jays Down the Stretch
February 16, 2008  --   Annville, PA, Sunday News - Dan Hodge connected on six 3-pointers and finished with a game-high 25 points to lift Lebanon Valley College to a 78-70 victory over Elizabethtown College in Commonwealth Conference action Saturday afternoon. Hodge broke a 68-68 tie on a 3-pointer with 1:06 left, then added another trey with 40 seconds to go as the Dutchmen (9-14 overall, 3-5 Commonwealth) ended the game with a 10-2 run to finish a season sweep of the Blue Jays (15-7 overall, 2-6 Commonwealth). Sophomore Mike Church (Solanco) finished with a career-high 22 points, and senior Chad Piersol added 20 points for Elizabethtown, which as a team shot 35.7 percent from the field. Elizabethtown Earns 'Must-Win' vs. Albright!
February 13, 2008  --   Elizabethtown, PA, Lancaster New Era - Elizabethtown College coach Bob Schlosser called it a must-win, and his team delivered Wednesday night. Elizabethtown's Mike Church scored 19 points against Albright on Wednesday night. The Jays knocked Albright out of first place in the MAC's Commonwealth Conference with a 79-75 win at E-town's Thompson Gym. Two Lancaster County products, senior Mike Schatzmann from Pequea Valley and sophomore Mike Church from Solanco, led the way. Schatzmann scored 28 points and Church 19 as E-town kept alive its flickering conference playoff hopes. The Jays improved to 15-6 overall but just 2-5 in the Commonwealth. Messiah Beats E-town 71-67
February 9, 2008  --   Grantham, PA, Sunday News Darryl Brown scored the go-ahead basket with 27 seconds left to push Messiah College to a 71-67 victory over Elizabethtown College in Commonwealth Conference men's basketball action Saturday afternoon. Brown, who finished with 12 points, gave the Falcons (15-6 overall, 4-2 Commonwealth) a 68-67 lead, and three free throws in the final 13 seconds sealed the victory over the Blue Jays (14-6 overall, 1-5 Commonwealth). Senior Mike Schatzmann (Pequea Valley) scored a game-high 30 points for E-town, including a career high-tying six three-pointers, and gave the Blue Jays their final lead of the game at 67-66 on a foul shot with 40 seconds left. Jays Blow 23-Point Lead vs. Widener
February 5, 2008  --   Elizabethtown, PA, Lancaster New Era It is almost shameful to think how far Elizabethtown College's men's basketball team has fallen in a span of roughly two weeks. Back on Jan. 21, the Jays broke into the D3hoops.com national poll, at No. 25. They were 13-1 and playing with swagger. Today, they are not only out of any national polls, but they find themselves in a fight to make their own conference playoffs. Tuesday night, they dropped their fourth MAC Commonwealth Conference game in five outings, 88-77, to Widener in Thompson Gym at Elizabethtown. Widener Hands Jays Another Frustrating Loss
February 5, 2008  --   Elizabethtown, PA, Intelligencer Journal If two overtime losses and a seven-point defeat in its last four outings weren't enough for Elizabethtown College's men's basketball team to realize things are never easy in the Commonwealth Conference, the Blue Jays were reminded again Tuesday night. Problem is, this latest reminder might have put a severe hurt on what once was a stellar season. Despite building a 25-point lead with 4:37 left in the first half, E-town fell victim to a furious second-half surge from Widener and dropped an 88-77 Commonwealth decision to the Pride Tuesday night in Thompson Gym. E-Town Can't Stop Bleeding - Drops One to LVC
February 2, 2008  --   Sunday News, ELIZABETHTOWN, PA - Entering Saturday's contest with conference rival Lebanon Valley, Elizabethtown was looking to rebound from Wednesday's overtime loss to Albright. But the Blue Jays, who hadn't lost back-to-back games all season, surrendered their second straight, falling to the Flying Dutchmen 70-63 at home. "Right now — and maybe I'll feel differently about this later — but I really think maybe we're feeling sorry for ourselves after Wednesday," E-town head coach Bob Schlosser said. "We didn't play hard today for the first time in a long time, and I'm disappointed in that." Click on the Blue Jay Logo at left for the rest of the article.

D3 Hoops Podcast: - Coach Schlosser Interview on Elizabethtown’s Start
January 21, 2008  --   With five weeks remaining in the regular season, most teams are in the thick of their conference schedule. But not Elizabethtown who doesn’t begin MAC Commonwealth play until its Tuesday trip to Lycoming. It’s just another effect of the conference realignment that shook the Mid-Atlantic region this year. Elizabethtown coach Bob Schlosser talks about the Blue Jays place in the new look MACC and whether he likes the changes. He also talks about the team’s impressive turnaround from 9-15 last year to 13-1 to date. Click on the D3 Hoops logo for the Coach Schlosser interview.

ETown Featured on D3 Hoops - At the Top of the Middle!
January 21, 2008  --   Coming into Week 6 every region except the Mid-Atlantic had at least one representative in the men’s D3hoops.com Top 25 poll, at least it would be if the NCAA hadn't moved Stevens from the Atlantic to the East. In fact, the Mid-Atlantic has yet to place a Top 25 men's team this season. We caught up with the Elizabethtown team who could change that. With a 13-1 record and a convincing win over DeSales (13-2), the Blue Jays should start to get more attention at the national level. E-town Runs Past DeSales - Piersol, Schatzmann and Tight D Spark 13-1 Blue Jays!
January 19, 2008  --   Sunday News, Published: Jan 20, 2008, ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa - This masterpiece had smudges, but only tiny ones. Elizabethtown did commit 18 turnovers. It missed seven of 21 free throws, and 10 of 14 three-pointers. It was outscored 36-15 by DeSales over the game's final 12:10. But that only serves to drive home the remarkable fact that with 12:10 left, the Blue Jays led a 13-1 team by 32 points. E-town blasted DeSales 80-69 at Thompson Gym Saturday. It had to have been, at least for 32 minutes, one of the most dominant performances of the coach Bob Schlosser Era, now in its 19th year. Crusaders Put Up Fight, But Can’t Down E-Town!
January 12, 2008  --   Reading Eagle Article, Published 1/13/2008 - Alvernia, despite being young and injury-riddled, finds a way to stay in the game against top-notch Elizabethtown. This has been a trying season for Mike Miller and the Alvernia men’s basketball team. Miller and the Crusaders are accustomed to success. He’s never had a losing season as a head coach, and they haven’t had a losing season in 19 years. Alvernia, though, dropped to 4-7 after a 78-72 loss to Elizabethtown Saturday at the Physical Education Center. The non-conference defeat to the Blue Jays (12-1) followed a 91-46 drubbing at Cornell and an 84-62 pasting at Franklin & Marshall. ETown Blue Jays Community Service - A Message from the Coach!
January 11, 2008  --   Coach Schlosser asked that I share his comments with you regarding the team activities for this past week. "Besides getting a good win at Manhattanville on Wednesday, I believe the parents and Blue Jay fans would be proud to know that our guys spent Monday afternoon at Lititz Elementary School where we put on a program for 350 3rd thru 6th graders. The guys demonstrated some of their skills and, more importantly, shared their thoughts regarding goal-setting, school work, and their priorities. Friday, we spent the morning at the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank sorting food and packing boxes to be sent to the needy in our area. This endeavor was an idea brought to me by our captain Chad Piersol. I personally am extremely proud of how this group has handled themselves both on and off the court! Our program is enhanced when it includes broader learning experiences for our players and drives home the point that we collectively are more than about just wins and losses." Bob Schlosser, Head Men's Basketball Coach, Elizabethtown College

Certainly this exemplifies that the Elizabethtown College Blue Jays are more than a group of basketball players. They are learning leadership, character, teamwork, and the value of community. As fans and parents of the Blue Jays, we can all be proud that Coach Schlosser and his staff are developing them into our leaders of tomorrow! An anonymous quote for you to reflect on:
Volunteers aren't paid, not because they are worthless, but because they are priceless!
Snowflakes melt alone - but together they can be traffic stoppers!
Teamwork allows common people to attain uncommon results!
Some people want it to happen, some wish it to happen, others make it happen!

    E-town a Perfect 9 - 0 at Holiday Break!
December 15, 2007  --   Elizabethtown College's basketball team has given coach Bob Schlosser the luxury of pickiness. He vastly preferred Saturday's 79-51 defeat of Rutgers-Camden to the Blue Jays' previous outing, a sketchy 76-63 defeat of Arcadia. "I didn't want to end on a sour note," Schlosser said. What's ending is the pre-holiday portion of the Jays' schedule. It's ending 9-0 for the first time in Schlosser's 18 seasons. Another Stunner: Elizabethtown Pulls Off Upset of Millersville!
December 5, 2007  --   You'd think Goliath would have learned by now. Especially at David's home court. But once again, the Millersville men's basketball team is trying to figure out what went wrong after the Marauders were upset, 77-72, by Elizabethtown. MU, which went 28-5 last season and reached the Elite Eight of the NCAA Division II playoffs, entered Wednesday's clash with its neighborhood rival with a swagger. The Marauders were a perfect 5-0 on the season. But for the second time in three years, Elizabethtown pulled off a stunner — and set a school record in the process.
