November 15, 2008  --   Our game is 10:15 a.m. this Saturday against the Dixon Chili Peppers in Dixon. Please try to arrive 30 minutes early and allow 30 minutes travel time to get there. PLEASE WEAR THE GREEN JERSEYS and bring the white jerseys so that we can return them to the club.

    DIRECTIONS:

    - West on I-80 toward SF and Exit Pitt School Rd.
    - Left on Pitt School Rd over freeway
    - Left at stop sign (Stratford Ave.)
    - Right at 2nd stop sign (Parkgreen Dr.)
    - Park will be on your left.

    Information for September 13th Game
Our game this week is against the Land Park Dust Bunnies. The game will be played at 9:00 a.m. at Sam Brannan Middle School Field #2. Please plan on arriving at least 15-20 minutes before the game. The school is located at 5301 Elmer Way near Fruitridge Rd. and Interstate 5. From the Pocket/Greenhaven area, go north on I-5 and exit at Seamas/Fruitridge Rd. Turn right onto Seamas/Fruitridge Rd and at the first street, turn left onto Karbet Way (note: the school you see is not the correct school). Turn at the first street on the right. This becomes Elmer Way. Follow it around until you see a school parking lot. Hopefully the gate is open for us to park. There are three fields. We are playing on the one in the middle.

    Thank You For Your Support
September 11, 2007  --   Everyone did great at the game last week. Yes, YOU, the parents and supporters! I just have a few gentle reminders for everyone. Please remember that this is a recreation league. Our main goal is to have fun while teaching the girls about the game of soccer. On game days, please remember to:

    - Be positive with the children (I am working on this one as well!) Encourage them and if you need to offer constructive criticism, do it after the game away from the field. And use the "sandwich" method - say something positive, offer a suggestion of how they might "TRY" to change, and then say something positive again.

    - Please do not yell at the referees. They can direct me to remove you from the field or they can red card me and throw me out of the game for not keeping our sideline in check.

    - As much as I like see the the girls' pets, please remember to leave the dogs at home. It is an insurance issue on which the club has given the coaches clear instruction. Especially on game day, the noise level is different, there are more strangers, and the chance that a dog could get spooked is more likely.

    - Please help by bringing a plastic bag and helping pickup any trash or litter from the sidelines. Permission to use the school grounds is predicated on our keeping the pitch (field) clean. If the fields are not kept tidy, the school can elect to withdraw the field from the club.

    - Lastly, try to have fun! Win or lose (and I know it gets hard sometimes), the kids can see it in our faces. They are out there playing their hearts out, and THAT IS the victory.

    Thank you for your support.

    Coach Robert & Coach Maurice

    GAME DAY PREPARATION
October 1, 2008  --   First of all I want to thank all of the families for doing such a great job of getting the girls to the practices and to the games. I know it is difficult, and I really appreciate the effort that everyone is making.

Here are some friendly tips to ensure game day goes smoothly for you:

    - Please remove the girls' jewelry (with the exception of a necklace under the uniform) when dressing for the game. The girls cannot wear earrings, watches, etc. during the games - it is a safety issue.
    - Please remember to have the girls tuck in their tops before the game.
    - Please make sure that each player's socks cover their shin guards completely.
    - Please tie their laces tightly for them (double-knot if necessary) to ensure laces are not coming undone during the game.
    - Please tie back the girls' hair as needed.
    - Spectators are not allowed to situate themselves behind the goals or along the goal lines.
    - Spectators are prohibited from stepping onto the field during a game unless directed to do so by a referee or coach.

If you know in advance that a player will not make it to a game, please give the coach as much advanced notice as possible. I usually work on the line up and substitutions for a few hours every week. So, even if something comes up on game day, I ask that you please try contacting a coach (cell phone would probably be best if it is game day).

Please arrive at the games on time (that means at least 20 - 30 minutes before game time).

    - The girls need to get acclimated to the surroundings. Especially away games.
    - The referees need to check all of the players against the player passes.
    - If I do not have the starting lineup present before the game, then I will have to modify the starting lineup (which will affect the remaining substitutions).

Each game should start on time. If it does not, the referees are required to note on the scorecard why the game didn't start on time (it affects the start time of all subsequent games on that field).

    Thank you,

    Coach Robert

A COLORFUL GIFT FROM THE MEYERS
September 28, 2006  --   On September 27, Maci's father Joe arrived at practice with a box full of surprises. The Meyers gifted each player, coach, and the team mom with a beautiful red sweatshirt complete with team name and logo on the front. Everyone was very excited. They look awesome and the team… well the team now looks like a team! A very big THANK YOU from the team to Joe, Liz, and Maci Meyer for their thoughtful and generous gift to the team! GO NEUTRONS!!!
