WEEK ONE RECAP
Our first Saturday of football was outstanding! Parents and Fans are to be congratulated for the showing of support for their teams and overall sportsmanship. Keep up the good work. Here’s a rundown of the day’s action:
The Game of the day was the last game of the day as the Richmond Rhinos held off the Burton Bulldogs 19-13 in a Novice game between two up and coming programs. A close second for Game of the day had to be the Junior level game between King and Seidman. King led the game at halftime 9-0 and held off a charge by Seidman to win by the slimmest of margins 9-8.
In other action King Park (novice) defeated Seidman 27-0 as Coach Bell has his squad off and running. Mulick Park (novice) under the leadership of Coach Tyrone defeated Garfield 13-6. At the Junior level, Coach Roby moved up a level from novice to junior not missing a beat as Garfield beat Mulick 20-0. Richmond edged Burton 6-0 in a defensive struggle. On opening night, Mulick Park defeated Garfield 13-12 in a very exciting contest.

WEEK TWO RECAP
This is shaping up to be one of the most competitive seasons to date. We had upsets, overtime thrillers, new kids testing the kings of the hill, etc...
In the game of the week we had the Northeast Raiders under the Air Assault of Coach Knox's kids ground the Seidman Wildcats 16-14 in a thriller at The Big House. This had to be one of the biggest upsets in recent memory in our league. Although yours truly noticed something special about the Raiders at the Jamboree. In other Wednesday night action, King Park Defeated the Richmond Rhinos 32-0, the Rhinos were down only 12-0 at the Half. More importantly this marked the return of the Richmond Park team to competition at the Senior Level. Keep at it Coach Dave and the Rhinos; we are glad to see you back.
In last Saturday action: Seidman and King Park Seniors had a deja vu moment as they replayed an opening night contest. Part 2 was better than the first as Seidman won 7-0 in OT. This was the most competitive, hard fought, hard-hitting, intense, yet most sportsmanlike game I have ever witnessed. Both Teams, Coaching Staffs, and Fans should be very proud of the way they handled themselves. On the Novice level, Richmond challenged King Park before falling 12-6 (can you say Championship Preview). Garfield defeated the pesky Burton Bulldogs 12-0. While Seidman dispatched the Northeast Raiders 12-0. In the Junior division King defeated Richmond 20-0 and Garfield defeated Burton 14-0.
Thanks to all the fans. Your behavior has been AWESOME!!! You have shown great support for your teams in terms of numbers attending the games, great sideline behavior, honoring the sideline boundaries and most importantly cheering the players and cheerleaders on. The League thanks you for providing an environment where all of OUR kids can be successful.

Wednesday Night Lights
WOW!!! What a Night as we had a doubleheader certainly worth the price of admission. In the first game, the upstart Northeast squad took their place atop the Senior division with their second win of the season. A thrilling 13-6 victory over King Park. The Raiders got on the board first as two of the most exciting skill players in the league, QB #10 DeMichael Ezel and RB #1 Tory Franklin, hooked up on a 60-yard scoring pass out of a non-conventional formation. King had a golden opportunity in the second quarter to tie the score, however, a fumble inside the 10-yard line was recovered by the Raider defense in the end zone for a touchback. Coach Fred’s Packers came back later in the quarter as #10 Jaymare Joseph scooped up a short punt and returned it 40-yards for a touchdown knotting the score at six all at the Half.
After a scoreless third quarter, the Raiders took the lead for good on a 1-yard plunge by #3 Michael Moore. King Park tried to answer driving the ball all the way down to the Raiders’ 20-yard line, This drive was stopped thanks to an interception by Northeast’s #25 Johntae Pardel.
In the nightcap, Seidman rallied in the 2nd half to defeat Garfield 19-12. The Wilcats began the game in the most exciting way. Returning the opening Kickoff 70-yards to go on top 6-0. Garfield tied the score just before the half thanks to a short touchdown run by #24 Darian Williams.
After halftime, Mr. Williams took the opening kickoff of the 2nd half back 79-yards to the 1-yard line. A few plays later #25 Kendall Washington scored on a short touchdown run giving Garfield their first lead of the night 12-6. Seidman responded with a determined 95-yard scoring drive. #1 Raheem Stokes ended the drive with a 25-yard sprint to the end zone. Raheem also converted the extra point making the score 13-12. The ensuing kickoff was recovered by Dekari Robinson for the Wildcats. They finished the scoring with a 1-yard blast into the end zone by #31. Making the score 19-12. Seidman has just finished an impressive run as they have played 3 games in eight days going 2-1.

PLAYOFF FEVER - CATCH IT!!!
With just a couple of weeks left in the regular season, GRYAO fans may find themselves keeping an eye on their teams place in the standings. In the Senior and Junior Divisions, the top four teams make it into the playoffs. At the Novice division we decided to add a new twist this year...every team qualifies for the playoffs. Let's take a closer look at each division:
NOVICE: Right now King & Mulick are battling for the top spot in the division with identical 4-0 records. That is set to change this weekend as the teams meet at 4pm at Northeast field. Garfield is just behind them with a 4-1 mark. With all the teams maling the playoffs at this level, football junkies will have a ball on Oct 25th as a total of Five Novice games will be played to determine who moves on to Championship Sunday (Nov 2nd).
JUNIORS: King Park stands alone atop the division with a 3-0 record. If the playoffs were to begin today, King, Garfield, Mulick and Seidman would join the Playoff Party. Richmond needs a win over Seidman and a little help to leap the Wildcats for the last spot. Great job by Coach Tim and his Ironmen from Burton on an excellent season. Your efforts do not go unnoticed.
SENIORS: In this weekends showdown between Mulick and Northeast, the Cougars prevailed with a great defensive effort to ground the air attack of the Raiders 12-0. The offense was spurred by two scores by #34 "Big Earl", one of the runs an impressive sprint from about 75 yards out. Could this have been a Champiobship preview? Well Seidman and King or Garfield might beg to differ. While Mulick, Northeast, and Seidman appear to be locks for the first three spots, King and Garfield are duking it out for the final spot in this division.
