Mandatory Certification for All GVAA Coaches

In order that our coaches have a more positive impact on all of our players the Babe Ruth League, Inc. and Cal Ripken Baseball, which the GVAA is affiliated with, has developed a mandatory course for improving the quality and knowledge of our managers and coaches. It is very important for youth coaches to be properly trained to focus more on the child’s baseball experience and less on winning games. Babe Ruth League, Inc. has developed the Babe Ruth League/Ripken Baseball Coaching Certification Program. Under the program, ALL GVAA baseball coaches, regardless of level, must complete the course BEFORE the beginning of the Spring 2010 season or at the latest July, 2010. Successful completion of this course will be used as one of the GVAA Board's selection criteria for managers and coaches.
The course is available now, so you have ample time to complete certification requirements prior to the GVAA Spring 2010 season. The course will take 2 to 4 hours of your time. Coaches who complete the exam with a score of 80% or better will receive the Babe Ruth League/Ripken Baseball Coaching Certification. You will be able to print a certificate of completion and wallet card from the Web site. Each coach will be required to send a copy of the certificate to the following email address, GVAABaseball@comcast.net and it can be done right from the web site. Your name will be added to GVAA coaches registry as having completed the course.
The Level One certification is valid for your entire coaching career with Babe Ruth League, Inc. The course costs $19.95. It is the coaches’ responsibility to pay the fee. This is a personal certification that belongs to you. You can order the online course www.baberuthcoaching.org/coaches/.
