Big News...Miggle Convention announced...January 15-17th!
November 23, 2009  --   The big news of the month...the Miggle Convention is back on! Early in October Miggle Toys announced that the 2010 convention would not take place. Now, after some coaches have made some pleas, the convention is back on. Thank you Michael and Delayne Landsman for putting on this tradition in electric football history. The tournament and Convention is set for January 15-17, 2010, at the Embassey Suites Hotel in Columbus, Ohio at 2700 Corporate Exchange Dr. in downtown Columbus. Book your rooms early, because it is expected to be a larger crowd than normal.

As usual...the HHEFL coaches will be there, so rides are available is anyone wants to carpool. See everyone there in January and LONG LIVE FOOTBALL!

Thanksgiving is here...and so is HHEFL League play!
November 23, 2009  --   It has been well over a month, but the HHEFL kicks back into full swing this Friday November 27th. Location has yet to be determined, but to all coaches remember...once you get done eating that turkey take some time to get your team ready.

In addition, the Mid-Ohio Miniature Football League will be meeting all day Saturday in Columbus, Ohio. The HHEFL's own Matthew Culp will be representing the Dallas Cowboys, and Indiana, as the road warrior continues on his quest for the Mid-Ohio Championship.

Updates to come, but from the HHEFL...HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Our opening weekend was great...November will be even better.
October 27, 2009  --   Welcome to the end of October and Happy Halloween from the HHEFL. Opening weekend was great, as two games opened up the 2009 season, with the Cowboys and Packers getting opening day wins. Next up...our November meeting! All coaches, please e-mail co-commissioner Matthew Culp at mmmculp@comcast.net with your available dates for November. We will then announce a date and time. As for league activities...an updated 2009 rules will be available soon, as will stats and highlights from opening day. Teams and players are still being setup. Those coaches who still need to get their rosters in, please send them to me soon. I need first and last name, number and position-thank you. Also, a new stat sheet for recording plays will soon be available as well. The new stat sheet is a huge improvement over the one currently being used. All coaches will receive it in a e-mail and then I will also post it in our rules section of this website.

See everyone in a few weeks!

Remembering 9/11
September 11, 2009  --   It is hard to believe it has been eight years since 9/11, so today the HHEFL and the rest of the nation takes a moment to remember those lost in the devistation of the attacks. It is a tribute to the human spirit for those heros eight years ago, who risked everything to save the lives of many trying to get out of harms way.

Today...take a moment to remember and say a prayer that peace on earth will someday come.

2009 HHEFL Preseason Action!
August 22, 2009  --   The 2009 HHEFL Season has begun, with an afternoon of tweaking, scrimmaging and preparation. Today the Chargers, Cowboys and Panthers got together for some preseason action. The HHEFL commissioners also got together and discussed rule changes for the 2009 season, which is set to start in early October.

In the first game on the day...the Carolina Panthers, coached by Tim Young, looked good in their opening preseason game, with a successful scoring drive following a 56 yard touchdown pass. Likewise, the San Diego Chargers, coached by Matt Wavra, also scored, as the game ended in a 7-7 tie.

In the second game, it was the Panthers facing off against the Dallas Cowboys, coached by Matthew Culp. In this one, the Cowboys had the quarterback roll out pass play to Jason Witten working; they had the sweep plays working and some trick plays leading the offense to three touchdowns. The Panthers again had another long pass for a score, as the scrimmage was won by the Cowboys 21-7.

It is still not to late to join the action and the 2009 season. Stay tuned for meeting dates, times and locations, as the HHEFL prepares to start our fourth season!

2009 Hoosier Heartland Invitational has been cancelled
August 15, 2009  --   The 2009 Hoosier Heartland Invitational has been officially cancelled for this year. We simply did not get a big enough committment from the miniature football community to accomadate the number of Boy Scouts we had planned on having.

We are hopeful of having this event in 2010. Thanks to everyone who showed an interest.

The 2009 MFCA Convention in Canton, Ohio is a tremendous success!
August 13, 2009  --   Well the MFCA put on another great show in Canton, Ohio over the weekend and this convention had it all. Things got rolling Friday morning, as coaches started to roll in all around the country. Friday afternoon the gym floor at the J. Babe Stearns Center in Canton, Ohio began to buzz to life. At 6:30pm we enjoyed the welcome dinner and then at 7:30pm we inducted three new members into the MFCA Hall of Fame and they were...Mike Turner, Bill Klingbeil and Mark Klingbeil. It was a great evening. The CBSMF (College Bowl Series of Miniature Football) kicked off their tourney, which had coaches playing into the wee hours of the morning.

Saturday-marked the Kid's Tailgating event at the Pro Football Hall of Fame, which the MFCA took part in again this year. Saturday afternoon continued on, with games being played all day and into the evening.

Sunday marked the CBSMF championship at noon and the wrapup of game play by 5pm. Then it was on to the main event...the 2009 Hall of Fame game and tailgating party at "Dan the parking Czars" home. What a party it was! The party and game was a perfect ending to a great weekend...photos of the entire weekend to come soon in our photo albums section...until next year..."Shake the Box"!

Happy Easter from the HHEFL!
April 12, 2009  --   ...and on the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came to the sepulchre, bringing the spices which they had prepared. And they found the stone rolled back from the sepulchre. And going in, they found not the body of the Lord Jesus. And it came to pass, as they were astonished in their mind at this, behold, two men stood by them in shinning apprarel. And as they were afraid and bowed down their countenance towards the ground, they said unto them: Why seek you the living with the dead? He is not here, but is risen. Remember how he spoke unto you, when he was yet in Galilee, saying: The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and then the third day rise again.St. Luke Chapter 24:1-7.

On behalf of the HHEFL, we want to wish everyone a very Happy and Joyous Easter and may we all give thanks for our lives...all we have...and for the gift of Jesus. God Bless you all!

Wrapping up the 2008 HHEFL College season
March 23, 2009  --   Well it is that time of year to wrap things up for yet another great HHEFL season. The HHEFL has now enjoyed three seasons, with three different league champions and as we look ahead to the 2009 HHEFL Pro Season some changes in the rules will be on the horizon. But before we get to that, we need to recognize the coaches and players of the 2008 season.

Before the HHEFL Championship Game last Saturday, the co-commissioners handed out all the awards for the 2008 season. All of the photos of the winners will be available soon in the photo album section of this site.

Your 2008 HHEFL College Season winners were...

The 2008 Heisman Trophy went to Mike Hart from the Michigan Wolverines. Mike Hart was the unanimous choice, as in just five games he rushed for 951 yards on 65 carries. He scored a unheard of 15 touchdowns and carried a 14.63 yards per carry the entire season. Mike Hart now holds the HHEFL records for most yards, most carries and most rushing touchdowns in a season...records that will most likely not fall anytime soon.

The 2008 HHEFL Top Defense award went to the Ron Christianson and his Wisconsin Badgers. The Badgers were just ferious on defense, allowing just 11.6 points per game and registered 12 sacks. They gave up just 617 yards all season and were simply dominate in all games.

The 2008 HHEFL "Top Gun" award went to Matthew Culp and his Florida Gators. Chris Leak finished with 37/63 on attempts earning him a 58.73% completion percentage, just enough to win the award. He finished with 506 yard passing and just 4 touchdowns.

The 2008 HHEFL Top Rushing Offense went to, who else, the Michigan Wolverines. With 880 yards total rushing for the season, no other team came within 200 yards of Michigan. The high mark is a HHEFL record.

The 2008 HHEFL Top Passing Offense went to Matt Wavra and the Ohio State Buckeyes. The Buckeyes Craig Krenzel finished 35/60 for 640 yards and 4 touchdowns with 1 interception. There completion percentage was 58.33%, just one completion away from taking home the Top Gun award.

And finally, this season the commissioners got together and started a new tradition within the HHEFL. Not every year, but when this award is warranted a "Coach of the Year" will be named. It was an easy choice for this first coach to be awarded. The award went to Tim Young. Tim is what electric football is all about and has demonstrated time and time again what true sportsmanship is. A new comer to the hobby, he has continually improved his teams, but more importantly, he has showed that enjoyment of fellowship always trumphs the win/loss column. We are honored to have him in our league.

So Congratulations to all the winners! Congrats to Joe Allore and the Michigan Wolverines on an outstanding season and to Jimbo Dunagan and the Fighting Illini of Illinois for a tremendous season and championship classic.

Coming up for the HHEFL...rule changes will come out sometime in the next month or so. We will have our usual "Training Camp" get together in July, as well as, a recruiting get together to see if we can pick up more coaches for the upcoming season. All season stats and final stats will be emailed to all coaches, when they are completed soon.

Stay tuned for more HHEFL updates and CSL updates...long live football!

Joe Allore and his Michigan Wolverines are your 2008 HHEFL College Season Champions!
March 14, 2009  --   2008 HHEFL College Championship
FINAL
Michigan Wolverines 7
Illinois Illini 6

What a day from Logansport! If you were not here, then you missed one of the greatest championship games of all time. In their regular season meeting, Jimbo and Joe needed overtime to deceide one of the greatest offensive games of all time...Jimbo one 46-45 in that one. So it was a surprise to see defense dominate this game, as sacks and blocked punts made for a wild ending to this game.

To sum up the game...it was 0-0 at halftime...then in the third quarter Michigan got the first huge play with a 84 yard strike from Henne to #1 Braylon Edwards. That setup a 13 yard touchdown pass from Henne to Edwards three plays later...and what a pass it was...between two Illini defenders and Michigan lead 7-0. But Michigan could not put the game away. Back and forth we went in the fourth quarter. Michigan missed a field goal attempt early in the fourth and failed to move the ball the rest of the game. Illiniois faired little better, but their break came late in the game. Michigan had the lead, the ball and Illinois was out of time outs, but they were forced to punt with :09 left. The punt attempt by Michigan was muffed (ball fell off the foot just as he went to kick it)...the result was one final play for Illinois at the Michigan 34 yard line with :09 left and it was one of those plays for the ages. Jimbo went to the pass and with Michigan playing deep he hit #6 down the left sideline for about a 15 yard pass...three Michigan defenders had a chance, but he got threw for a touchdown and it looked like overtime for the Championship...but instead Illinois deceided to end it on a two point conversion...

It was all or nothing for Illinois...the HHEFL Championship or a Michigan trimuph...the play was a designed pass play, but Michigan's defense stuffed every available receiver and Illinois was forced to throw short...Michigan's #55 Dhani Jones sealed the deal with a tackle at the 12...and Joe Allore claimed the 2008 title.

For Matt Wavra and myself...I just want to thank Joe Allore and Jimbo Dunagan for a outstanding Championship game and congrats to all coaches today who participated in the 2008 HHEFL Bowl Championship Saturday...

More to come soon on this great Saturday event, including all the winners from the 2008 season

A 2008 HHEFL season update...Wisconsin downs the Irish and Hart leads Michigan to a win over Florida
February 9, 2009  --   The 2008 HHEFL College season rolls on, as the Wisconsin Badgers and Michigan Wolverines recently recorded victories.

First, on January 24, 2009 at the 2009 Miggle Convention, the Wisconsin Badgers (coached by Ron Christianson) faced off against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish (coached by Tim Young) in what became Wisconsin's first win of the season...28-6. Wisconsin was lead by #28 Anthony Davis, who rushed for 98 yards on 13 carries and scored 2 touchdowns. They were also lead by #9 Jonathon Orr, who opened the game with a 100 yard kickoff return and caught a 41 yard touchdown reception. Wisconsin (1-4) held Notre Dame to 153 total yards and 6 points in the win. For Notre Dame (0-6) their regular season has come to an end, but the BCS Bowl game weekend lingers in the next few weeks, as they will try to redeem themselves against Wisconsin.

On February 7, 2009 the Florida Gators (coached by Matthew Culp) paid a visit to Mundelein, Illinois and the Michigan Wolverines (coached by Joe Allore). The HHEFL league leading rusher, Mike Hart, was held to just 68 yards rushing, but two first half touchdowns would be all the Wolverines would need, as they sacked Chris Leak 7 times and held Florida to just 25 total yards for the game on route to a 18-0 win. The win was key, as now Michigan at 4-1 is in a good position to play in the BCS Championship game against Illinois if they can get past Missouri. For the Gators, at 3-3 their championship dreams are over, as they look to next season.

Complete play-by-play game summaries can be found in the "Game Results" section...just click on the game for the complete highlights.

Next up in the HHEFL...a heavy dose of the Missouri Tigers, as they must play Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin and Ohio State to finish off the 2008 regular season...stay tuned for more highlights!

The HHEFL salutes the new 2009 Miggle Champion-Jim Davis.
January 26, 2009  --   The 2009 Miggle Convention in Chicago was simply one of the greatest Miggle conventions of all time and after 15 years of trying, the time has come for Jim Davis of Detroit Michigan. In one of the greatest Miggle Championships of all time, Jim Davis made the most courageous call in electric football history. After two days of intense competition, 50+ coaches and high level competition, it came down to Norbert Revels and Jim Davis for the title and overtime...to the highlights we go!

It was a great defensive game, as both coaches moved the ball in the first half, but neither could put up any points on the board, as it was a 0-0 tie at halftime, but the second half would bring big plays. Jim Davis scored first and went up 7-0 midway through the second half. But Norbert Revels got a huge pass play late in the half and tied the game at 7 forcing overtime. Norbert and his Kansas City Chiefs got the ball first in Overtime and got off to a rocky start. Jim Davis and his Oakland Raiders came through with two big sacks that forced a 3rd and 25. Norbert converted for a first down, following a long pass play...that lead to a Chiefs score and extra point to make it 14-7 Chiefs. But Jim Davis was not to be denied...as the Raiders drove down into the redzone and scored on his possession in overtime. The play of the year and maybe all time came next, as Jim Davis elected to go for the two point conversion to end the game...one way or another. With the championship on the line, he went with a college full back field formation. Norbert countered with a tight defensive lineup to stop a run up the middle, but Jim went wide. He gave the ball to the outer back on the left side and he ran a perfect sweep to the left...the result...touchdown and a championship for Jim, as the crowd went nuts! Final score Raiders 15 Chiefs 14.

The HHEFL salutes Jim Davis on his championship and Norbert Revels for one game for the ages. The HHEFL also salutes Michael and Delayne Landsman for hosting the Miggle Convention. The convention weekend was a complete success. From the Welcome Dinner...to the main tourney...to the MFCA/Miggle Skills competition...to the Jr. and Sr. Spark Bowl...it was a great weekend.

We look forward to next year...long live football!

THE FINAL COUNTDOWN!
January 19, 2009  --   It is here! The best time of the season! The Superbowl is just two weeks away, the 2008 HHEFL season is winding down towards our Championship Bowl game and the 15th Annual Miggle Convention in Chicago is just 4 days away. This year the Miggle Convention is going to be even more special, because Friday and Saturday night we are hoping to complete four to five of the remaining six games that are left on the HHEFL college schedule. Plus we have the Miggle tourney, Miggle and MFCA skills competition and best of all...the reunion of coaches from around the country all kicked off by the welcome dinner provided by the owners of Miggle...Mike and Delayne Landsman. I have been to almost all of the conventions and I have never been disappointed...this is the event of the year to get the 2009 football season off to a great start!

So get ready...get set...get excited...four days until the reunion and one of the greatest traditions in electric football...the 2009 Miggle Convention!

2008 HHEFL Midseason report.
January 10, 2009  --   With six games left in the HHEFL season, here is the midseason report including your league leading rusher, passer, receiver...top defense and more. With the end of the season approaching we will take a look and see who is leading in each of the categories for end of season awards.

LEAGUE LEADING RUSHER. After playing five games Mike Hart continues to dominate the league with an incredible 49 carries, for 883 yards and 13 touchdowns. That is an average of 18.02 per carry. The next closest rusher is Antoineo Harris of Illinois who has 478 yards on 37 carries and 7 touchdowns.

LEAGUE LEADING PASSER. Craig Krenzel is leading the league in passing with 640 yards passing. He is 35 for 60 with 4 touchdowns and 1 interceptions. The next closest passer is Chris Leak of Florida with 443 yards passing. It should be noted that Missouri has played just two games and Chris Daniels has 336 yards and 6 touchowns in those games.

LEAGUE LEADING RECEIVER. Ben Hartsock leads the league in receiving with 7 receptions for 154 yards, but several receivers are right there with him

HHEFL AWARD LEADERS

TOP DEFENSE. So far your top defense is shaping out to be Illinois with 16 sacks and one game left, but in hot pursuit is four other teams. Florida has 12 sacks with one game left, Wisconsin has 11 sacks and two games remaining and Michigan has 10 sacks with two games remaining. Wisconsin has overall been the most impressive defense in the league, holding opponents to an average of 13 points a game and an average of 137 yards allowed per game. The commissioners may have to suspend the "sack" number to determine the best defense...Wisconsin is simply the best so far this season.

TOP OFFENSE-RUSHING. This is a no contest. Lead by Mike Hart the Michigan Wolverines lead the pack with 812 total team rushing yards. A distant second is Illinois with 631 yards rushing.

TOP OFFENSE-PASSING. Ohio State has had a awesome season passing the ball. With 640 total yards passing, they are holding their own to second place Florida with 443 yards passing. However, Missouri should not be counted out. With four games remaining Missouri has racked up 336 yards passing (average of 168 yards passing-end of season projection of 1,008 yards). This should be an interesting race as the season comes to a conclusion.

TOP GUN. Missouri quarterback currently holds the lead as "Top Gun" in the league with 72% on completions. The rest of the field is tight with Leak from Florida holding a 60.8% completion, Krenzel from Ohio State with 58.3%, Michigan's Henke with 57.9% and Illinois Kurt Kittner with 56.7% completions.

Six games left...who will be in the HHEFL National Championship Game and claim the 2008 HHEFL title? Watch for updates on this site, as we try to wrapup the regular season in two weeks at the 2009 Miggle Convention!

The 2008 HHEFL season rolls on as we welcome in the new year with great football action!
January 3, 2009  --   The new year is here! 2009 is here and the Hoosier Heartland Electric Football League celebrated it in style with a great day of electric football from Logansport, Indiana. Ron Christianson and Jimbo Dunagan made the four hour pilgramige down from Chicago, so Ron's Wisconsin Badgers could do battle with the Ohio State Buckeyes, coached by Matt Wavra and the Florida Gators, coached by Matthew Culp...and if you liked defense, then these were the games for you.

January 3, 2009 Culp Stadium Logansport, Indiana 11am-2pm
Wisconsin Badgers 0
Ohio State Buckeyes 6

In the first matchup it was the Badgers versus the Buckeyes and simply put...defense ruled. Neither team could get anything going in the first quarter, as Wisconsin controlled the ball for all but four plays in the quarter and most of the action took place at midfield. The second quarter was much of the same, although Wisconsin did penetrate down to the Ohio State 33 yard line. A 48 yard field goal attempt was blocked and Ohio State escaped. The teams would exchange the ball two more times, including another deep penetration by Wisconsin down to the Ohio State 36 yard line. Again the Badgers were forced to go for a long field goal and again the Buckeyes special teams came through as they blocked their second field goal of the game-this one a 53 yard attempt. Ohio State then got the play of the game...on the final play of the half Craig Krenzel, QB for Ohio State, hit Chris Gramble on a 60 yard touchdown strike for a touchdown (two point conversion failed) and we went into halftime with what became the only score of the game. Ohio State opened the second half and had the ball for the entire third quarter, but yielded no points. Wisconsin would take the ball and control it for most of the fourth penetrating the Ohio State 13 yard line. The key play of the game came here, with time running out in the game, Wisconsin went for it on 4th and 4 at the Buckeye 13. The quarterback faded back for a pass...had no one open...scambled and was stop short. Ohio State took over, but could not run out the clock. The Badgers had one last chance with :07 left at the Ohio State 33, but the play fell short and Ohio State collected the win. Final 6-0 Ohio State

Florida Gators 15
Wisconsin Badgers 7

In the second game of the day the Badgers faced the Florida Gators. And much like the game earlier...it was all about defense. Florida took the opening kickoff...controlled the ball for all of the first quarter and into the second quarter on a 15 play, 82 yard drive that yielded a 35 yard field goal with 8:30 to go in the first half. That would be the scoring for the first half, as the Badgers controlled the ball the rest of the half, but got stopped at midfield, as the half came to an end. Wisconsin then turned the tables on Florida, as they took the kickoff in the second half and controlled the ball, but got stopped at midfield. Florida got the ball back in the fourth and broke the game open with a 4 play, 44 yard drive and a 8 yard touchdown run by #5 Caldwell (2 point conversion failed) and it was 9-0 with 7:59 to go in the game. Wisconsin's next drive was a four and out, as the Gators took over at the Wisconsin 40 yard line. Four plays later the Gators scored again when Emmitt Smith ran it in for a 3 yard touchdown run and it was 15-0 with 3:51 to play. Wisconsin then got a big play on special teams, as #87 Darrin Charles broke a 95 yard kickoff return to the Florida 5 yard line, then 3 plays later #85 Tony Paciotti hauled in a 12 yard touchdown pass and it was 15-7 with 2:48 left to play. Wisconsin attempted an unside kick, which went high and was recovered by Florida. The Gators ran out the clock and held on for the narrow 15-7 win.

Complete play-by-play to come on both of these games along with stats and player highlights.

We want to thank Ron and Jimbo for coming down to Logansport...it was a great day of action, as both the Gators and Buckeyes faced one of the toughest defenses in the league. Next up for the HHEFL...league games at the 2009 Miggle Convention in Chicago in two weeks...see everyone there!
