Hunterdon Lions Track Club Goals
The Hunterdon Lions Track Club offers an introduction to the sport of track & field to boys and girls, in the 4th through 8th grades. Our primary aim is to expose children to the multiple disciplines of track & field, and to help them gain an appreciation for what it means to attain and maintain a level of fitness. We hope to instill a love for athletics and a healthy lifestyle that will last a lifetime. We offer the chance to compete with other children of the same general age, at the local and state levels. Perhaps most importantly, we provide a sports activity that offers fun and friendship to all ages and levels of talent.

Practice
Practice will begin on Wednesday, March 18th, and continue through May.
Practices will be held on Wednesday evenings (7:00 - 8:30 PM) and Saturday afternoons (2:00 - 3:00 PM).
The schedule will always be posted on our website calendar.
Any "last minute" changes will be communicated to parents via e-mail, no later than an hour before the practice.
The boys and girls will practice together.
The coaches will make an effort to divide the kids into groups based upon age/ability.
We have reserved use of the track at North Hunterdon HS for our program, however some practices may be held at the upper Shot Put field at the end of the track next to Rt. 31, in the event the track is in use.
We realize that many families have busy lives, and that soccer, lacrosse, CCD, piano, and other activities may, at times, interfere with attending track practice.

Meets
We will have a pair of meets with the Hunterdon Hawks track club (Voorhees), one at each HS. We will also have a meet with the Readington Middle School team at Hunterdon Central HS. We are trying to establish a meet with another area club and plan to participate in USA Track & Field (USATF)-sponsored meets, including the State Qualifying and State Championship meets.
While we feel that running in meets is an important part of the program, we respect that some children might not want to compete. However, the meets with the Hunterdon Hawks are especially low key and fun events, and we’d strongly encourage all kids to run/jump/throw in several events. All meets are conducted by age groups – 9-10, 11-12, and 13-14, so kids compete against kids roughly their own age.

Registration
Registration includes:
- Racing Singlet
- Club t-shirt
- Car magnet
- Unlimited entry in the club meets (e.g. Hunterdon Hawks)
- Practice and competition in the full range of events offered
- End of season party
- Unlimited fun with friends!
Registration for the family's first child is $50; and $30 for each additional child from the same family. Please click on the "Handouts" menu item (link is to the left on this page) to download the "Registration" and "Medical Release" forms.
Forms must be received by Saturday, March 7th.
