    11U Blazers Win Bandit Classic
The 11-U Indiana Blazers competed in the Greenfield Bandit Yard Invitational tournament this past weekend. With rain and temperatures in the Low 40’s the Blazers lit a fire that could be seen from Cincinnati to north of Lafayette and of course the fire is always burning in our home town of Columbus Indiana. With the Blazers being on fire no one nor the rain was able to put the blaze out. The Blazers had four straight wins winning the Championship game against the Indiana Bandits 11-0 for their second straight tournament championship in April earning a spot in the HAP Dumont World Series in July. The 2005 season is well on its way and the Blazers record just keeps improving each week. The Blazers season record now stands at 12 wins with only 3 losses. The Coaching staff is very pleased with the team’s a success this early in the season and with continued hard work from all players and coaches along with the parent’s support theirs no doubt the 2005 season will be a season to remember. Our sponsors are who make our program number one so again the 11-U Indiana Blazers would like to thank all our sponsors for what could be the very best season for travel baseball that Columbus has ever participated.

13U Blazers Midwest Baseball Chapionships Runners Up
The 13U Blazers played good baseball over the weekend at the Midwest Baseball Championships in Fishers. The 13U team finished pool play 3-0 and the number 1 seed going into the single elimination part of the tourney. Sunday the Blazers continued their run with blazin bats and good defense winning the two games they needed to make it to the Championship Game against the Devil Dawgs. The Blazers started out the game still looking hot as the home team putting the Dawgs down in order 3 up 3 down and starting the bottom frame of the first with 4 runs. The Blazers bats continued to hit the ball in the next innings but this time directly to the outfielders and they could not put up any runs. Heading into the 6th inning the 13U team held onto a 4-3 lead when the Blazers defense broke down a little for the first time over the weekend and allowed the Devil Dawgs four runs on a bunch of errors. The Devil Dawgs were then up on the Blazers 7-4. The Blazers fought back and tied the game 7-7 in the bottom of the 6th. In the 7th the Blazers could not hang on as the Devil Dawgs put up another 4 runs from walks and errors in the field. The Blazers were only able to muster 1 more run ending the game 11-8 in favor of the Devil Dawgs. It was an exciting tourney and the Blazers bats and defense looked the best they have all year with four individual players going yard.

13U BLAZERS PLAY WELL IN LOGANSPORT
The 13U Blazers traveled to Logansport for the Pre-Season Warm-Up tourney over the weekend and played well. The 13U team finished pool play undefeated and the number 1 seed in their pool. Unfortunately the weather rained out all of Sunday play. The Blazers had good offense for the weekend scoring 24 runs. The only negetive things were some errors and walks in game 2 which allowed the game to be much closer than what it should have been. The 13U team had the momentum heading into the Championship round.

12U Big Weekend Capped Off by Tuesday Night HSL Opening Win, Ready to Roll Into Martinsville Tourney
April 19, 2005  --   The 12U Blazers had a huge weekend defeating Madison and the Pony Express. The Madison game was an exciting extra inning contest in which the blazers pulled out in the bottom of the seventh inning. Tony Kummer drove in the winning run with a base hit. Good pitching from the Blazers with Joe Lange starting and going 2 1/3 innings, Tony Kummer 2 1/3, and Cole Hardman 2 1/3 innings. Cole allowed no runs in the last 2 1/3 innings to get the win. Tony was 3-4 for the game, David Montgomery 1-2, Justin Aimers 2-3, Nick Banister 1-2, Matt Johnson 2-2, and Joe Lange 1-2.

On Sunday the 12U Blazers faced the Pony Express from Indianapolis in a Double Header with both games counting in the league. David Montgomery got the start and pitched three good innings. David only gave up one hit and the last two innings were perfect with him sitting down 6 hitters in a row with three strike outs, a fly out to short, and a ground out to second and a ground out to back to himself. David's arm was bothering him a little so Cole Hardman came in relief in the 4th inning. Cole's first batter he faced reached on a single but after that Cole pitched a perfect game also. Cole sat down the next nine hitters in a row. Cole struck out five, three grounded out to second, and one grounded out to third. One of the highlights of the game was a three run home run by Tony Kummer with two outs in the third. This put the Blazers up 6-2 and they never looked back. Jess Harris was 1-2, Tony 2-2, Joe Lange 1-2, Nick Banister 1-2, Cole 1-2.

In the second game against the Poney Express Joe Lange started the contest on the hill. Joe pitched a strong two innings allowing only two hits and no runs. With Justin Aimers shoulder ailing and David Montgomery having a stiff arm Cole Hardman came in to relieve Joe after two. Cole pitched another good 3 1/3 innings allowing only two hits and striking out eight with no runs allowed. In the sixth with the score 2-1 the first hitter got a double, Cole struck out the next batter on three straight pitches, the next hitter bunted and Cole made an errant throw to first allowing the Pony Express first run to cross the plate. With the score 2-1 and a runner on second it was obvious Cole was tiring. The Skipper Shawn Lange pulled Cole and brought in the big Lefty Tony Kummer to finish the game. The runner on second attempted to steal third and a great throw from the catcher Jess Harris nailed him for the second out. Tony got the batter down 0-2 and continued to battle with the batter fouling off three more pitches. Tony finally put him away striking him out for the last out and saving the game.

13U Blazers 2006 Cave City Classic Runners Up!!
March 5, 2006  --   The Blazers had a good weekend opening their season against some good competition. The Blazers defeated the Louisvilled Bulls and Southern Kentucky Bulls to set up a match up against Kentucky's 2005 USSSA #1 ranked team the Kentucky Bearcats. The Blazers were the visiting team and put two runs up in the top half of the first. The Bearcats countered with two runs of their own to tie the game 2-2 after one. In the second inning the Blazers could not get any offense going and the Bearcats pushed 1 across to make the game 3-2 after 2. In the third the Blazers scored one run to tie the game at 3 after 2 1/2 innings. In the bottom of the third the Bearcats got two runs off of good hitting with 4 hits in a row. Then with two runners on base, a grounder was hit to short in which a runner ran into our shortstop causing him to bobble the ball and not make the play. The missed call by the Boys in Blue allowed the Bearcats to put two more runs across the plate. This ended up being the final score 7-3 for the game. The Blazers played hard against a really good team. We are all looking forward to the rest of the year.

In the third the Thunderstix scored two more runs and after 2 1/2 it was 7-2 in favor of the Georgia team. The Blazers got hot again and put two runs across in the bottom of the 3rd to make the score 7-4. In the 4th innings the Blazers defense finally quieted the Thunderstix and allowed no runs. In the bottom of the fourth the Blazers scored 3 runs to tie the game on a two run home run by Levi Pollart and Sacrifice fly by Tim Hoffmeister. With time expired in the 5th the Blazers again shut out the Thundrstix. In the bottom of the 5th the Blazers pushed across the one run to win the game and move into the final game for 5th place. On Friday the Blazers faced the Grove City Vipers that finished pool play as the 3rd seed overall.
