3-24 What a comeback. Great game tonight guys. I'm proud that you didn't give up and you fought to comeback and win the game. Josh came in and took control of the game on the mound. Way to pitch Josh. It was our first game of the season and even though we made a couple of mistakes and had some jitters we pulled it together to finish strong. Winning the first game is always a big plus. Let's continue to work hard and play some great Sooner baseball.
3-29 Another good game boys. We shook off the first inning jinx and played great. Defense was really on today. Dakota threw out a runner trying to steal second and picked one off of thirdbase when he threw down to third after a pitch and Josh fired it back home and Dakota made the tag for the out. Derek had some good pitching also. He picked a runner off of firstbase. Corey came in to pitch and earned the save by holding the Ruffnex at bay. TK had a catch out in the outfield and need we say anything about BIG D's catch out in rightfield? Luck? Maybe. Skill? Could be. Was it a big out when we needed it? You betcha !!!! We had some good hits also today. Agressive baserunning helped out as well. Let's be ready for tomorrow night's game. The Coaches are taking these one game at a time. Let's do what we can to win tomorrow's game. We have a goal to reach and we are not there yet. GO SOONERS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
3-31 What an awesome game tonight. You played your hearts out. What got us were the 6 free outs that we gave them. Take those away and we knock off a few of their runs and the outcome would have been in our favor. You showed true fight in your game tonight. I am very proud of you. We have to mention Josh tonight. He went yard ( HOMERUN over the fence ) to start a late inning rally. 2nd time for Josh to go yard for us. Hopefully many more to come this year. GO SOONERS !!!!!!
4-4 Good job today in the tournament. You all played hard and fought to comeback in the first game and then hung on to win the 2nd game. 12 walks ( 8 in the last inning ) helped us win the first game. Bats really came alive in that 2nd game when we were able to score all 7 runs without getting an out. BUT then we turned around and let them score 7 runs without us recording an out. Great job by Jesse today by pitching in his first game ever. We've got to be smarter on the base paths. Let's be ready for tomorrow's action. BOOMER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
4-5 Windy conditions makes it hard to play sometimes and that's what we were faced with today. You guys still played hard but we gave away 6 extra outs today and it's hard to win when you give any team 6 extra outs. But you never gave up and I am proud of you for that. Great tournament over all and now we are still in the Pre-Season tournament. Let's be ready for that game this week because we still have a goal to reach. Come out playing hard. 4-10 You boys are really impressing me right now. You are playing some good ball. Wednesday night you took care of the Sabercats without your regular coaches. We had some parents stand up and take care of the team that night and you made me look good. Then we faced the other Sooner team last night in some crazy wind conditions and when the game was on the line, you made the plays that gave us the victory. Corey pitched well despite the high winds and BT came thru with the game-winning hit. Then we faced our new arch-nemises - the Storm - and we had another really great game against them. This one was closer then the first time this season. You were fired up for it because the Championship game was on the line. They got us 3-2 but we will face them again later and we have a score to settle with them. How about Corey fouling off 7 pitches before he finally went down?? That's the way to battle at the plate. A couple other guys did some battling and fouled off a few pitches as well in their at-bat. The loss gave us 3rd place in the Pre-Season Tournament. Be proud of yourselves. I sure am and I know the other coaches are as well. Let's be ready now for the regular season. GO SOONERS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
4-13 First win of the regular season tonight boys. We are in for a great season by the way things are shaping up. Let's work on the little things to make us better right now. 4-16 Since you wouldn't let me do it at the game, here goes. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DAKOTA, HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAKMAN !!!!!!!! Good game tonight, although we let them stay in the game longer than they should have. BT did a good job on the mound for us and Jesse came in and got some good work in as well. Derek had a great smash to right-center field for a hit. TK had the game-winning hit for us to win by run-limit. We have a tournament this weekend and let's play well. We still have some work ahead of us. Sooners 2-0. GO SOONERS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
4-17 - 19 First game vs the OK Bandits. Nice game tonight boys. It was close at the beginning and then you took control of the game. Josh did awesome on the mound tonight striking out 9 in 4 innings. BT had a nice triple and Dylan isthisclose to his first hit of the season. He is making better contact now and putting the ball into play and when that happens, anything can happen. The Mustang Yankees are up next. Mustang Yankee game was rained out. Next game was Sunday morning against the Kay County Redhawks. Sorry that I had to miss the game. Thanks for playing without me. Thanks to the Dad's that stepped up and helped out to cover for the regular coaches. Sounds like it started off good but we let it slip away from us in the 3rd inning. We still have work to do. Next up is a league game on Tuesday. BOOMER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
4-21 Good job by everyone tonight. You jumped out and started strong and didn't back off. Most of you swung a good stick tonight. Dakota had 2 nice deep shots. We had our second double-play of the year when Caleab took a grounder at 2nd and tagged the runner and threw to firstbase to complete the double-play. Justice took the mound in relief tonight and mowed down 3 of the 4 batters he faced, striking out the side. BT had a nice "heads up" play as he tagged a runner out that stepped off of firstbase. Let's strive to be better. Sooners 3-0. SOONER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
4-24 Another win in the books for us this year. With the Bulldogs down a man, they just couldn't hang with us. Remember what Coach James said tonight, whatever the score, whatever the situation, we must continue to play Sooner Baseball and do the things that we have been teaching you to do. Nice job by TK in his first pitching appearance of the year. Keep on trucking boys. Sooners 4-0. GO SOONERS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
5-7 After almost a 2 week layoff, we looked a little sluggish. But what counts is the win and you guys pulled it off. Dakota did a good job for his first pitching performance this year. We had 2 great plays on defense. BT was first with a falling catch in the infield and then, not to be out-done, Jesse made a great sliding catch from Center Field. Sooners 5-0. We are going to have a full week next week so let's get prepared and get ready to play some great SOONER BASEBALL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
5-11 The regular season is fast coming to a close. We are more than half way thru it now and we didn't miss a beat tonight. It wasn't much of a challenge but we still had to get out there and play solid in order to get the victory. We've got to give it up to Dylan for getting his first 2 hits of the season. YAHOO. We've got a busy schedule for this week. One down, at least 5 more to go. Sooners 6-0. BOOMER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
5-15 Sooners put another notch in our victory belt tonight. We were pretty sluggish to start off the game. We gave the Sabercats 8 extra outs. Like I told you after the game, that's like giving them 3 extra innings at-bat. So they hit 7 innings to our 3. Now you settled down afterwards and played some good ball. You were challenged and arose to the occasion. We've got to get the bats going. We had some good hits tonight. Derek had a couple of blasts and "Flip" got 2 hits as well. See what happens when you put the bat on the ball and make something happen? Good things can, if you give it a chance. Defense was rough in the beginning but you settled down. TK had a good catch out in CF and Dakato threw out 2 baserunners, 1 to Josh at 3B and the other to Corey at 2B. We've got the Moore Tournament tomorrow. Let's be ready for it. Sooners 7-0. 5-16 I am proud of the effort that we gave today. Of course, the first game was a forfeit win but we really needed that game against the Giants. It got us back into the mode of facing tougher teams. We played some great defense in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th innings. We had our old first innings blues kinda ( which we haven't had that often this year ). We didn't play that bad in the first, but in the end it was the inning that got us. But back to the great defense - they only sent 4 batters to the plate in the 2nd and 4th innings, and 3 batters in the 3rd. That's AWESOME !! Corey directed the infield perferctly in those innings, calling the plays for the defense. That's what I expect from anyone playing the "captain" postion. We started hitting better and like Coach James said it was just right at someone. Let's be ready for tomorrow and let's make it to the 2nd game on Sunday. GO SOONERS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
5-17 Well we didn't make it to the second game today like we talked about. It looked like the first inning went well, but then somehow it all fell apart after that. I know that field is not what we are used to playing on but we still have to play the way that we have been taught. We need to be down and ready the correct way whenever we are playing defense on the field. Keep your heads held high. The bar has been set high for this year and we haven't been used to losing this year. 15 wins and only 6 loses so far this season. That is great. We just need to get back to basics and play some Sooner Baseball.
5-20 Another strong game tonight. Justice did a great job on the mound for us tonight. We still need to work on hitting a little bit. We had a couple of good shots tonight, but our 2 toughest games of the season are coming up and we have got to hit the ball better if we are going to win those games. Thanks for taking care of business after I left. It was good to see our other Coach Jeff ( Caleab's Dad ) tonight. Only 2 more league games left. Let's stay on the right path and WIN. Sooners 8-0. 5-26 Great game tonight boys. We came out ready to play and hit the ball hard tonight. Josh had another dinger over the fence, Corey had 2 hard hits and Big Dylan had 2 more hits tonight. Great job by everyone overall. Defense was pretty solid tonight. Just a couple of mistakes but you settled down and finished strong. Let's remember our next goal : finishing league play at 10-0. 6-6 Great ball this weekend so far boys. You guys lit up the Yankees and you hung with the Legends. Bats were on fire for the Yankees as we racked up several hard hits and put 15 runs on them. We had some good defensive catches as well. Defense was really awesome today. And then we had the Legends and I was pleasantly suprised with how well you played them. They are a AAA team and we played our game against them. The kind of ball you are playing right now really excites me. The sky is the limit when you keep your head in the game and do all the little things to help the team out. We are the #3 seed for tomorrow's action. Let's be ready to play some great ball. 6-8 The SOONERS are PERFECT !!! 2009 MYBA LEAGUE CHAMPS. You guys played an awesome game tonight. I am so proud of all of you this season. You have listened and worked hard and it has paid off for you. Let's talk about tonight's game. We had some great hits tonight. BT had a smash to the Centerfield wall that turned into a double. Caleab had 2 hits for us. Dylan had an RBI hit that gave us the 2nd run of the game. Corey was thissssss close to knocking his first homerun over the leftfield wall. Now let's get to the defense. Defense was stellar tonight. We had several pop-fly catches. TK, Justice, and Caleab had catches ( and someone else had one that I will tell you about in just a second,,,, ). We threw out a runner at home. Dakota blocked the plate well and the runner didn't stand a chance. Corey made a play on a ball hit deep into the hole at shortstop that most shortstops wouldn't have made. Bill was hustling to back up every play just waiting for a chance to throw somebody out. Derek was hurt early in the game and was able to come back and help us out at firstbase. Now let's talk about the last inning. Caleab caught his pop-fly for the first out. Next was a ball that was hit in the air towards the hole at secondbase. Corey was trying for it and Caleab was coming hard in on it also. Just when it looked like they would collide and the ball drop to the field Jesse comes flying in from nowhere to make a spectacular catch for the second out. The final out of the game came when Dakota threw out a runner trying to steal third. What a game. You guys have earned it this year. Be proud of yourselves. You deserve it. Next up for us is the Post-Season tournament. Let's be ready because everyone will be gunning for us. Sooners PERFECT 10-0. BOOMER SOONER BABY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
