2009 13U Fall Classic Champs
The 2009 Lake County Sidewinders 13U team finished the fall season as Champions of the Fall Classic Tournament held in Northfield, Iliinois. They went 5-0 and won the championship game 15-5 over New Trier. The Sidewinders gave up all 5 runs in the first inning, but responded with 2 in the first, 6 in the second, 6 in the fourth, and ended the game by the mercy rule in the fifth. The team finished the fall season with a record of 11-1 and the 2009 season record of 63-15 and their 3 year record of 187-41. Great playing.

2009 Game Day - USA, National Tournament - 3rd Place - 13U
Excellent played game at the highest level of competition. The 13U Sidewinders finished in 3rd place at the 2009 Game Day - USA National Championship Tournament, losing 5-4 in the semi-finals to top 5 nationally ranked Beaver Valley Reds (Pennsylvania).

2009 USSSA International Championships 13U - 2nd Place
The 2009 13U Sidewinders ended their summer season with another exceptional performance. They finished 2nd in the USSSA International Championships in Crystal Lake, Illinois. The 13U international teams included, Panama, Puerto Rico, and the Dominican Republic. The Sidewinders had the pleasure of playing the Dominican team and winning 12 to 5, but were able to trade pins and
t-shirts with them for key rings and bracelets. It was interesting to see their cultural passion for baseball and their way of cheering. After pool play, the Sidewinders were seeded 3rd for the championship bracket. Adam, Simeon, and Qinten pitched great. Tino, Quinten, and Braven played well at the catcher's position throughout the tournament. The team hit on and off, but Alex, Ryan, Quinten, and Tino ran the bases well and put the pressure on the opponent's defense. Alex was selected by the tournament director for teh "Hustle" award. This went to the 1 player in the tournament who played with the most energy. The Sidewinders lost the final to the Oak Park/Burr Ridge Barrons (a combination of 3 teams) 11 to 6. The Sidewinders took a 4 to 1 lead after 3 innings, but did not make the plays necessary to win the game. Overall it was a wonderful tournament and a great season finishing with 52 wins and 14 losses. Winning 2 Championships, finishing 2nd four times, coming in 3rd three times.

2009 13U MSBL Elite League CHAMPIONS
The 2009 13U Sidewinders set themselves apart again by winning the inaugrual Mid Suburban Baseball League - Elite Division Championship. Their season came down to playing the second place team away and then finishing a suspended game with them. With dominate pitching from Quinten(4 inn) and Simeon (3 inn), a bases loaded hit by Austin in a 4 run 5th, 2 key bunts by Braven, and 2 double plays - one which ended the game; the Sidewinders put away the Lake County Lightning 7 to 2. They followed the victory by completing the suspended game with a 7 to 3 win, with Adam closing out the final 2 innings on the mound and Tino making a spectacular diving catch down the right field foul line. The Sidewinders finished with a league record 18-2.

2009 13U TCS - State Tourny - 2nd Place
The Sidewinders finished 2nd in the 2009 Triple Crown Sports Great Lakes Championships 13U Division held in Naperville, IL. This is the State Championship Tournament for TCS. The Sidewinders pulled out a miracle in the semi-final game against Edge Baseball from Naperville, down 5 runs going into the last inning, they rallied for 8 and held the Edge to 1 to win 16-14. The Sidewinders fell behind early against the Quad City Hitmen and did not have enough energy to overtake them. Down 9-1, the Sidewinders battled back to 9-6 and 12-8, but had nothing left for the last inning and lost to an outstanding Quad City team 17-8.

2009 - 13U - Game Day USA Pre-Season CHAMPIONS
The Sidewinders took the 2009 13U Game Day USA - West Chicago Pre-Season Tournament Championship. The tournament was shortened due to weather on Sunday, April 19th. The tournament semi-finals and championship games were not played. There were 16 teams divided into 4 divisions and out of the 4 divisions there were 2 teams that won all 3 of their tournament games; the Sidewinders and the Clarendon Hills Cardinals. The Sidewinders had allowed 2 runs in their 3 games and the Cardinals had allowed 12 runs in their 3 games, so by tournament rules the SIdewinders won the tie breaker and the "mythical" championship. However, as an act of sportsmanship, the Sidewinders agreed to a "Co-Championship" with the Cardinals since we did not get a chance to settle it on the field. This also allowed 2 other teams who only played and won 2 games to share "Co-Runner Up" for the tournament.
The Sidewinders' pitching and defense dominated the 3 games by winning 15-1 in 4 innings, 5-1, and 14-0 in 4 innings. The victories were over the Des Plaines Blazers, who we beat in last year's National Baseball Academy's fall league championship; the South Elgin Thunder, who played us tough in last year's Triple Crown Sports State Tournament; and the Wheatland Ducks, who won the AAYBA World Series Championship last July in St. Louis.

2009 13U Pitch 4 straight shutouts with 2 no hitters
The amazing Sidewinders put together a run of incredible games in the St. Charles, IL Summer Slam Baseball Tournament. They pitched 4 consecutive shut-outs, 2 of which were no-hitters, on their way to a 2nd place finish. They beat the Oswego Panthers 10-0, the Elmhurst Cougars 17-0, the Addison Braves 12-0, and the Winfield Wolves 3-0. Then in the semi-finals they defeated the Geneva Vikings 11-4, before losing the championship game to the Orland Park Magic 12-7. The outstanding pitching was performed by Adam, Simeon, Quinten, Matt, Tino, and Austin.

2008 TCS - Great Lakes 12U Champions
The Sidewinders 12U team beat the TSA Patriots from Buffalo Grove, 7 - 0, to claim the 2008 Triple Crown Sports State of Illinois title in winning the Great Lakes Championship Tournament at Naperville, June 18 - 20. The Sidewinders won all 5 of their tournament games with outstanding pitching and overall great team performance. The tournament victory was well deserved by this group of excellent young men.

2008 USSSA - Illinois State 12U Champions
The 12U Sidewinders are the 2008 USSSA Illinois State Champions after a tremendously dominating 5 - 2 victory over the Champaign Tribe at the "Lumberyard" in Bourbonnais, IL. The team played an outstanding error free game while flashing their great base running.

2008 Nationals Cooperstown, NY
The 2008 12U Sidewinders had a great run at the Cooperstown Dreamspark National Tournament August 16th-21st in a field of 99 teams. Track their success at www.cooperstowndreamspark.com week # 11. They went 6-1 in pool play, earned the 16th seed and a bye in the opening round of the elimination tournament. The loss was to the eventual tournament champion "California Lumberjacks", although the Sidewinders had them down 3-2 but couldn't hold them. The Sidewinders beat the Las Vegas Barracudas in a thrilling 8-7 game that came down to the last pitch. They also beat the Farmington Hills, MI team 3-2 on a straight steal of home with 2 outs in the last inning, before bowing out to an excellent Seattle Select team 12-9, after leading 5-1. It was a tremendous experience for players, coaches, and families.

Our Mission
The Lake County Sidewinders Travel Baseball Association is a non-profit organization dedicated to preparing players for high level competition. Our goal is to compete with class, have fun, and learn the game. We compete in travel baseball leagues and numerous tournaments.
