HAPPY EASTER TO ALL
This time of the year is a time to think about the "Ultimate Sacrifice".
Let's say that one day your at school and you do something wrong, the teacher wants to see you get detention and the school's rules and conduct book says that you must be expelled - you cannot go to your school anymore. You think to yourself that you have never been in trouble before and compared to how some of the other students behave you are a really good kid. The time comes that you have to stand before the principal and he/she says to you, "Why should I let you stay in my school?" You tell the principal that you try to behave properly and that you made this mistake but compared to the other students you really never get in trouble. The principal realizes that you are a good student and doesn't want to expel you and make you go to another school but he/she has no choice, it is the Principals job to make sure that the rules are followed and the punishment is given. The principal explains that you cannot go to your school anymore. At the other school you will not be able to play an instrument, you will not have gym or recess and you will not be able to play any school sports. Also, your parents will have to pay for you to go to this other school. Your parents decide that because of the extra money it will cost to go to the other school they will have to take you off all the teams you are on and figure out a way for you to pay for it...... .....Then someone stands up and says that He will take the punishment for you, that He will take your place and pay for what you have done. Not only will you be able to stay in school but the principal will treat you as if you never made this mistake. You can still play your sports and this will not cost you anything. You have your life back and He says that this is a gift so you do not have repay Him. Wow how cool is He! Oh yeah, he adds that any other mistakes you make He has already taken care of it - all part of this gift. SWEEEET Right!
Well that is what Jesus has done for us. At Easter we celebrate this free gift of Eternal life. So that when you stand before God and he asks "Why should I let you into my heaven?", You can say because Jesus died on the cross and rose from the dead so that I can have the gift of eternal life in heaven. And hey anytime you want to talk to God you can because He made it so that God does not remember the mistakes we make because of the ultimate sacrifce Jesus made for us.
So everyday let's say Thank You by trying not to make mistakes and the way you live, behave and play Ball! In everything we do let's do it as a way to say thank you for the greatest gift we will ever receive.
Some people have heroes that can slam dunk, some can even hit grand slams - my hero died for ME!
HAVE AN AWESOME EASTER!

MESSAGE OF THE WEEK or so.....
MESSAGE OF THE WEEK
The major league baseball season is in full swing now and the way A-rod has been hitting has got me thinking. I started thinking about last year at the end of the season when he wasn't hitting so well and people were complaining about his playing - what would have happened if he made the decision to give up and if he would have listened to all the negative comments that were being made. What type of a player would he be this year? Certainly not the player he has been so far this year. The thing is he didn't just sit back and accept the fact that he wasn't playing to his best potential - no not at all - instead he trained hard to overcome his areas of weakness, he worked at it - he didn't settle for being ok -
Now I'm not saying that A-Rod should be a person we choose as our role model in life (I don't know much about the guy) but I am saying that it just makes sense. Anytime we do not make the best play, get the hit we wanted or do not feel like we are the ballplayers we would like to be - we should not just give up or get down on ourself. No not at all - a year from now what type of player do you think you will be with that kind of thinking? Instead learn from every mistake and weakness. Try harder, train harder, ask your coaches and trainers for help - let them know what your thinking. Work on it until you are satisfied with the results. Hey come to think of it - this kind of attitude will work good in all parts of our lives.
A quote to think about -
"If someone says something unkind about you, live everyday so noone will believe it."
MESSAGE OF WEEKS GONE BY .....but NOT TO FORGET!
We will, together as a team and as individuals, face many opponents on and off the field. We can have a good attitude and good behavior when our opponents are being nice - it is easy to be nice to someone when they are being nice to you -anyone can do that. But that is not what this team is about - this team will continue to have the proper attitude and behavior at all times - even when we are faced with trash talk from our opponents on the field or off. We must set an example that will be remembered. Of course we will train hard and play our BEST to win games but what is even more important is being known for the way we behave and act towards others. We will be watched and we will be tested but You are WARRIORS and you will be attain Victory with Honor!!!!!
Sunday, APril 15th, Jackie Robinson was honored. He was honored for his performance on the ball field as well as off.
Why was Jackie Robinson hand-picked to break the color barrier in baseball 60 years ago? Because he was the type of person who could handle all of the undeserved racial hatred he would face. He set an example for those who followed him--not by retaliating, but instead by turning the other cheek and letting his actions do the talking. Those actions--on and off the field--spoke loud enough to win him the 1947 Rookie of the Year award and the MVP award two years later.
In the Bible, Paul encourages Timothy to set an example for others "in speech, in life, in love, in faith, and in purity." Why? Because, just as in Jackie Robinson's case, people are watching you to see how you live, not how you say you live. Had Jackie Robinson retaliated to the racial hatred he faced, he probably would have been removed from baseball and, thus, ruined the chances of other black baseball players getting the opportunity to play professional baseball. But because of the positive example he set, he paved the way for other great players to follow; men such as Hank Aaron, Willie Mays and Bob Gibson.
I encourage you to take a look at yourself, and see what kind of example you are setting for others in these five areas that Paul shared with Timothy (speech, life, love, faith and purity). Remember, people are watching you today and are influenced by you. What kind of example are you going to set for them to follow? As Jackie Robinson once said, "A life is not important except in the impact it has on other lives."

BE A LISTENER AND A LEARNER!
The players on this team have the privledge of trainers and coaches who are here to help each and every player develop to their maximum potential. They are here to help the entire team to grow, develop and improve together as a group, as a "TEAM".
They are committed to developing you in ALL areas.
Your job is to be A DOER NOT A FORGETTER- the coaches and trainers can teach you and guide you but only YOU can control your behavior. God gave us all our own free will. That means we all choose how we behave.
Therefore, it is up to each and every one of you to decide the kind of ballplayer you will be. Not the coaches or the trainers - YOU.
It is up to YOU to take what you are taught and use it while you practice and play the games. If you only use what you are taught during the training sessions and then you do not apply it while you practice or in a game situation - then you have not learned it. All you have accomplished is leaving and forgetting - but if you leave and DO then you have truly learned something and will be successful. That is what makes a true WARRIOR!

WORTH QUOTING
"Winning is only one way to measure success - the W is not the end all. But make no mistake - we will play to win."
"Watch your thoughts, for they become words; Choose your words, for they become actions; Understand your actions, for they become habits; Study your habits, for they will become your character, Develop character, for it becomes your destiny."
"IMPACT, INFLUENCE, EXAMPLE, ROLE MODEL. These words basically mean the same thing . They describe a person that serves as a pattern to be imitated or not to be imitated , or one that is representative of a group or type. These words define who we are as an organization, as a sports team , and as individuals PEOPLE OF INFLUENCE."
