Jalapenos Season Ends on Sunday
December 22, 2004 --
The Jalapenos 2004 Fall Season ended this past Sunday with an 8-5 loss against a very tough Fighting Hellfish.
There were many highs and very few lows this season, we were pretty competitive from the beginning and went down fighting at the end.
Amongst our accomplishments...
We never really gave up all season, and came back from a disasterous = blowout against the Pirates and won 10 games in a row! Half of them we had to come from behind to do it.
We also finished as 2004 Fall regular season champions for the first time, going 9-1.
Yes it sucks to lose but... we had a good fun and competitive season.
Congrats to Esteban for winning the battle title, with a .500 average leading the team with 24 hits and 24 runs. Danny B. fell 4 plate appearances short.
As well as Luis for leading the team with 21 RBIs and 2 homeruns.
Sergio and Sal each finished with identical 4-1 records, and Sergio had a 4.76 ERA.
The spring season is set to begin sometime in February.
Recap and stats will follow shortly.
Happy Holidays!!!!!!!!

Jalapenos win season opener...
March 13, 2005 --
The Jalapenos faced off against Erosion Control this afternoon on the road at San Diego High School. We took an early lead, on a 2 out rally, with 5 straight singles. Erosion responded with a bomb to left center and into the freeway. That would be all they would get.
Dan did a hell of a job on the mound striking out 11, walking 3, and allowing only 1 earned run on 4 hits in 7 innings.
Offensively Bobby (3 for 4, 2 RBI) and Jason (3 for 4, RBI) led the team this afternoon. Everyone contributed with 19 hits.
Next weekend Double Header, Berrys 38s and current division leader The Mighty 1090 at Otay Ranch. Going to be a long day... we need everyone there.
I added the stats... they are still showing up screwed up... as of one I wrote this.

April 25, 2005 --
The Jalapenos got a big win on Sunday over the Fighting Hellfish to inch closer to .500 again.
Salvador Luna made his return to pitch a good game allowing 4 earned runs.
The bats were alive again today, Esteban went 4 for 5 including a solo shot to left in the 6th inning. Alex hit 2 for 3, driving 5 runs in.
Both Omars are on a hot streak, Mafud went 3 for 4, while Vega went 4 for 5.
Nice to win another game. Its been a while.
Next weekend we travel North to meet the defending 28A Champs Saturn Ions on their turf at University City High School at 1:30pm.
All the stats have been updated.

Sunday's Game Cancelled!
September 25, 2003 --
This Sunday's game at Oceanside H.S. has been cancelled! The game will be rescheduled at the end of the season most likely as part of a double-header. Everybody take it easy this weekend! Let the injuries heal guys, and get ready for the next game against Landlord Jim's Pirates at San Diego H.S. on 10/5.

Rained out.
December 7, 2003 --
Well unfortunately we got rained out Sunday. What does it mean? Probably a double-header assuming we win the first game. So I would expect us to play a 9:00am. We will be a little short on players possibly next weekend so... if anybody cannot make it please let me know.
The other 28A American playoff game, Ions vs. Lugnuts at Madison H.S. got cancelled to. So it will be a pretty even situation for all of us next weekend, If we do play double headers.
In the National Div. Erosion Control beat the Pirates 9-7. The Padres vs. Orioles game got cancelled though. So that'll be a tough situation for them I guess having to win the first game and then play Erosion Control back 2 back.
I expect we will know by Tuesday whats gonna happen.

2004 All Star Game!
The Jalapenos made a good showing at the 2004 SDABL 28A All-Star Game.
Our two representatives this year were Luis Luna and Danny Bringas.
Danny went 2 for 3, a single and a 3 run homer to center. As well as drawing a walk in the bottom of the 9th. It was a key play in the game as he stole second base, the catcher over threw the second baseman. Allowing the runner on third to score the winning run on the error.
Luis went for 0 for 4, with a strike out, grounded out, and reached base on an error a couple of times. He did make a nice stop while playing third preventing a run from scoring by tagging the runner.
The National Division won 12-11!

The pictures are dark and blurry... sorry best i could do from a camera phone.

Well thats one way to start the season... not the way I would have liked to BUT... oh well... 10 games to go.

Jalapenos win 2nd straight.
Good job.
Sergio gets his first win on the mound... the first of many we hope. Colchon had an amazing game... 5-6, 2 singles, 2 doubles and big homerun that went about 410(?) almost dead center. That was a hell of a shot!
We are 2-1, and hopefully we can stay above .500 the rest of the way. We have some tough games coming up in the near future, so everyone stay loose, relax and let's have fun.
Stats are online and updated... I will try and add the 2003 Fall Games next. 13 games is a lot so it might take me a while.
The rest of our schedule is online... not enough 9am games... but you guys will be able to catch the following games on TV... Nov 7th vs. New Orleans... oh shit... its at home... probably blacked out. Well I guess if we fail to make the playoffs... you could catch the las month.
By the way... next game, Sunday 10/3 vs. the SD A's at 1pm... Otay Ranch

Jalapenos win nailbitter to advance to second round.
The Jalapenos pulled off another late inning comeback, beating the Classic Cards 9-8 at Castle Park to advance into the second round of the playoffs.
Bottom of the ninth with the score tied 8-8, Oscar Zaragoza led off the inning with an infield single just beating a strong throw by the third baseman. He advanced to second on a balk. Victor Villalpando hit a grounder to short, who nailed the lead runner at third but Villalpando beat the throw. Omar Mafud walked. Both runners advanced on a wild pitch, putting the tying run at third. Vico Moreno came up to bat and grounded out to third. As the throw went to first, Villalpando took off and scored the winning run, to give the Jalapenos a 9-8 victory. The 10th in a row for the team, who advance into the semifinals next weekend.
Stats and game story have been updated!
Next playoff game is Sunday December 19 at 9:00am against the Fighting Hellfish at Eastlake High School
The Hellfish defeated the Mighty 1090, 4-3.

Jalapenos win 6th straight! Two way tie for first!
October 31, 2004 - 11:55 AM --
The Jalapenos beat the Fighting Hellfish, 10-3 at Otay Ranch their sixth win in a row. They remain tied with the Mighty 1090 in first place in the 28A for the second week in a row. Erosion Control beat the Pirates over the weekend to knock them out of the three team first place tie.
The game's highlights include a strong pitching performance by Sal, now 3-1 this season, who pitched his second complete game of the season.
Defensively, Bobby and Oscar turned a pair of double plays. Oscar also made a diving catch at a line drive at second base. Jacinto picked off a pair of runners.
Julio went 2 for 4, with 3 RBIs. Esteban continues to lead the team in batting with a .607 average, 17 hits and 17 runs after going 2 for 5.
Overall it was an excellent team effort once again.
The stats and a summary of the game have been added as well, click on game results.
Next week the Jalapenos meet the BuyWoodBats.Com Bonita Black Sox for an early 9am game at Otay Ranch High School. Should be another good game.
The team would also like to wish Danny congratulations on his wedding to Mari over the weekend!

We Won!
November 19, 2004 --
I'm keeping the cheap headline. It was another hard fought exciting game for the Jalapenos. Both teams were pumped up for the big game. I thought we'd have more runs on both sides but it was a very well defensively played game. The errors were minimal although we did give up a pair of runs which we shouldn't have. I think we are progressing as a team going into the tail end of the season. Eight wins in a row is an extremely insane thing.
Sergio did a great a job getting his fourth win of the season, and Sal did a good job in an inning of scoreless relief.
Defensively, we didn't make any major errors. Victor, Esteban and Jacinto prevented at least three runs for scoring, helping kill the Ions momentum. Some minor props to Oscar for coming from Vegas on gameday morning, with what looked like no sleep, and playing a good game at second.
Offensively, we got the hits and the runners when we needed them. We were outhit, and the batting averages took a beating this week but we pulled through when we had to. Victor went 2 for 2, with 3 RBIs, and scored a run. Julio went 1 for 3 with a walk and 3 big RBIs as well. Bobby wehnt 2 for 4, with an RBI and the only extra bases hit for the Jalapenos this week, a double. Vico went 2 for 4.
We remain all alone atop first place at 8-1, with the Mighty 1090 in second at 7-2.
Stats and game story have been updated.
