LAXFEST After thoughts
As disappointing as it was that we faced such atrocious weather for our LAXFEST, there is one thing that made our LAXFEST an outstanding success.... THE PEOPLE!
We've had more people step up this year to help our organization succeed, and that directly translates into more opportunities for the kids... and that's what it's all about.
Give me a few days to unpack, rest up, and pull things together, and I'll follow up with the outstanding items from LAXFEST such as the silent auction and raffle.
In the meantime, I just wanted to say thanks to EVERYONE who helped with LAXFEST. You are my heroes.
Stay dry... and lax on!

This is a Community Event and open to all!
In addition to exciting lacrosse action, LUYAA Lacrosse has
some fun and rewarding activities planned for the the day! Lacrosse games and scrimmages will run from 8:30 AM - 6:00 PM and Carnival Games are open from 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM.

Thanks to the planning efforts of U15 Head Coach and Towson Lacrosse Alumni Frank Aparicio, LUYAA Lacrosse was honored with the opportunity to participate in Towson Day. Coach Franks' U15 Hawks and Coach Rocks' U11 Lancers teams joined in the festivities, along with U13 player Taylor McDaniel.

Tip #1: Wall Ball
"It is critical that lacrosse players work on their stick skills outside of team practices. Better stick skills will translate into more productive practices and a lot more fun on the playing field. There is no better learning tool for players to improve their skills than a WALL. If you do the wall ball drill (link) 3 days a week, you will be amazed at the improvement of stick skills in just 2 weeks."

LUYAA Lacrosse Receives ‘HONOR THE GAME’ Award
Thirteen LUYAA Lacrosse coaches attended the US Lacrosse Level 1 Coaches Training on Saturday, December 13th at Mount St. Mary's University. The Western Maryland Chapter of US Lacrosse recognized LUYAA for bringing the most coaches from any one program, and presented LUYAA Lacrosse with the very special
Honor the Game Award.
Level I on-site training is one part of a 3-step process toward US Lacrosse Level 1 Certification. This first step was an intensive full day seminar that focused on coaching technique, communication, and planning lacrosse skills and tactics.
The other two steps include completion of an On-Line training course, and certification as a Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) Double Goal Coach. Many of the LUYAA Lacrosse coaches who attended the on-site training plan to complete the other two steps and become Level 1 Certified. On Sunday, May 3, 2009, LUYAA Lacrosse will hold our annual LAXFEST. This is an all day lacrosse festival where over 750 players and their families from around the Frederick/Montgomery County area will participate in games and lacrosse related activities. The event is also open to the public.

FIELD LINING & GOAL STRINGING
On Saturday we'll start at NMMS at 12:00. We'll string goals and line the 2 fields there.
Then we'll move to DCES and line that field, then Old National Pike district Park/144 and line 2 fields there.
On Sunday, we'll start at WKMS at 12:00. We'll string goals and line the 2 fields there.
Then-we'll move to Centerville and line that field, then UMS and line 2 fields there.
ONLY IF WE GET VOLUNTEERS FROM TEAMS WHO PRACTICE THERE-(U9 Urbana Boys, U9 Blue Girls, U11 Blue Girls- UMS, U13 Urbana Boys-C'ville)
PLEASE REMEMBER... WITHOUT REPRESENTATION, THERE'S A GOOD CHANCE YOU'RE FIELD WILL NOT GET LINED!
