Welcome to the Parents Corner!
Hello and welcome to the Parents Corner! Here you will find news and information in regards to being a parent in our League. Included will be recommended reading, articles, links, and publications to keep you updated in regards to being a parent/parents of a young athlete.
I've been involved with Mountain Ridge Little League as a parent, coach/manager, and active board member. My experiences in the past 6 years have taught me quite a few lessons in the different ways kids and parents are involved in sports. I have found that parents aren't as informed as they should be and that this would be a great way of getting that information out.
Here are some books that I found at the library I highly recommend reading. These titles are found in the "Fitness" section.
"Whose Game is It Anyway?" Ginsberg,Durant, and Baltzell
"101 Ways to Be a Terrific Sports Parent" Dr. Joel Fish
"Your Kids and Sports" Koehler
"Home Team Advantage..the critical role of mothers in youth sports"
Brooke
"Parenting Sports Mom Style" Phillips and Stahl
"Play Baseball the Ripken Way' Cal Ripken Jr.
"Baffled Parents Guide to Coaching T-Ball" Unknown
My advice is to be informed and stay updated as possible. Youth sports has changed since we all played. Do it for yourself and most important do it for your kids.
