    Reminders to Players and Parents
    1. Our league is celebrating its 29th season in 2009 and is comprised of a 6/7th Grade Division and an 8th Grade Division. Games are played at the PHS 9/10 gymnasium on weeknights at 6:00, 7:00 and 8:00 p.m. and all day on Saturday. Your attendance is encouraged. Practices are scheduled at a variety of schools throughout the season by the individual coaches.

    2. Players and spectators must not bring food, drinks, basketballs, jewelry or valuables to games or practices. The Recreation Department is not responsible for lost or stolen property.

    3. You must provide your child's transportation to and from all games and practices. COACHES ARE NOT AUTHORIZED TO TRANSPORT PLAYERS UNLESS IT IS AN ABSOLUTE EMERGENCY. Please become familiar with your child's schedule dates and times. It is very important that players be dropped off and picked up not more than 15 minutes before and after games and practices. Players will not be allowed to loiter in the school long before and long after their games and practices. You can assist us by ensuring your child has timely transportation and is not left at the gym for a prolonged period of time. This has been a problem in the past. With your cooperation, it won't be a problem this season.

    4. All basketball injuries, no matter how minor, must be reported to the coaches immediately. If medical attention is required, parents must notify the Recreation Department and fill out an accident report. All medical bills must first be submitted to your insurance company for payment. If you do not have medical coverage or your provider does not pay the full amount, any unpaid portions of the bill can be submitted to the Recreation office for payment.

    5. In order to participate in games, all players must wear the uniform shirt and shorts that the league provides. The uniform cannot be altered or lettered in any way. Please become familiar with our Rules Governing Uniforms. Be sure your child is in compliance with this rule at all times.

    6. All players, parents, coaches and spectators are expected to behave in an appropriate,
sportsmanlike manner at all times. We welcome the positive support you can offer your child, their team and our program. Unruly, abusive and inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated. Players who violate our standard of behavior will be suspended from the league. Spectators will be asked to leave the gym. Please try to be a positive role model at all times. All parents and spectators are expected to adhere to the Model Code of Conduct set forth by NJ P.L. 2002 – Chapter 74 and Piscataway Township Ordinance 03 - 41.

    7. IMPORTANT - If a parent removes their child from their team for any reason, the child is removed from the team roster. If the parent or child wishes to return, the child is placed on a waiting list with no guarantee of participation.

    8. Our league has a private support organization known as the Parent's Auxiliary. Although the Auxiliary is an independent organization, it does work closely and cooperatively with our program by scheduling picture taking, providing a post-season banquet and conducting various fundraisers. You will be contacted by the Auxiliary and presented information about the organization and how to get involved. We encourage you to offer whatever support you can to the Parent's Auxiliary.

    9. The bad weather/cancellation telephone number for Recreation Programs is 732-562-2389. Whenever Piscataway Public schools are cancelled due to bad weather, all Recreation programs, games and practices are automatically cancelled.

    10. By now, you’ve heard about MRSA, a ‘staph’ infection that is resistant to antibiotics. Here are some Prevention Tips:
    - Wash your hands often using a antimicrobial, antiseptic skin cleanser such as Hibiclens® (sing "Happy Birthday twice" or the CDC recommends saying the alphabet once).
    - Shower immediately after every practice and game.
    - Wash athletic clothes daily in hot water and dry on a hot setting.
    - Cover all open cuts prior to practice and game activity.
    - Do not share items such as clothing, towels, soap, razors, water bottles.

If you have any questions or concerns about our league, now or in the future, please feel free to contact either one of us.

Together we can make the Piscataway Recreation Middle School Basketball season the most successful ever. In order to accomplish this goal, we must work in cooperation and support of each other. We must always remember that this is not a professional, "win at any cost" basketball league but a "youth recreation" program for the benefit of the children we all care about so dearly. We thank you in advance for your support and cooperation.
