SPRING 2009 - Kid Pitch

07/08/09
Knights,

I can tell from practice the boys are excited about going to the beach to play ball. If they continue to keep that attitude and focus, we could see the Knights roll out of town carry the World Series Banner high over their head! There's no doubt in my mind they can win it all! We have a great group of boys and I have enjoyed every second of this year! I appreciate all that you parents do and put up with in order for this team to be successful... No matter how the beach trip comes out... we have had a great year of baseball and have put our mark on being one, of the Top teams in North Alabama! But mostly I appreciate ya'll for being part of the Knights. And I can only hope they have learned more than just the game of baseball.

*** Remember to bring $30 for the Player Package (WS Shirt, Towel, Pin and Bat) and give to Billy on Thursday at Practice and don’t forget to put the t-shirt size on the sheet.

*** Billy is working on getting your balance on what is owed for the new uniforms, we need to get that money in our account as soon as possible...

Opening CeremoniesWednesday, July 15th (Start at 6PM – Arrive at 5PM) – Gulf Shores Sports Plex

·         Blue Jersey, Black Shorts, White Hat (Clean Cleats)

o        We will meet around the front gate.

Once I get our game schedule from the coaches meeting I will hand out the uniform schedule at the opening ceremonies. We want to try and get team pictures with the new uniforms, before they get dirty… we might try to find a place to meet outside the park to do that before our first game depending on what time we ended up drawing…

Knights,

Well, I think we can chalk this past weekend up as “That’s the way it goes sometimes.”

You know the old saying.... I here it almost every weekend from everyone and it makes good sense to me after this past weekend… “That’s Baseball!”

Runner-up at the Alabama Super NIT is a pretty good thing! We all are very proud of how the boys bounced back after their lack luster performance Friday night. The TEAM that played Saturday morning to work its way back to beat the #1 seed Bounty Hunters -THAT is the TEAM that can WIN every time they step on the field… The team that showed up for the Championship game….. Well, that’s a different story! I am not sure we wanted it as bad as the Giants… We were their 4th game that day... and they looked and played like it was their first… But none the less… We have a TEAM… and in the end I am VERY proud of the effort they put out this weekend – when they played as one! We are a work in progress and we can only continue to work harder in order to keep improving!

Knights,

I am sure everyone is as proud as I am of how the boys kept digging and scratching in the Championship game… Games like yesterday are those type games that mold a player into a PLAYER! All weekend we played well… Our Defense and Pitching were in sync…. We hit ok… but we HIT when we had too and that was the difference… Enjoy it today and forget it tomorrow, as we will hit the practice field Tuesday at 5:30PM to prepare for a repeat this weekend.

Knights,

I hope everyone is enjoying this Spring-Winter we are having…

I am proud of how the boys played this past weekend… though the end results were far from what they were looking for… I do believe they have come a long way in just a short time… and doing so with hardly any field practices…. That speaks a lot about the boys drive to play baseball and there ability to learn on the job so to speak...

We still have a long way to go… there’s no doubt about that… Our hitting is no where close to being where it needs to be as a team, but it is getting better with each at bat… and once adjustments are made and that… whatever, it is that clicks in there head…Clicks… We are going to be just fine at the plate. Defense comes and goes… just as it always will… and the more reps we get the better that too will be… I think most of you have already seen the difference in the team from our 1st tourney to this past weekend…

We will be off this weekend and I hope everyone enjoys the Easter weekend! - Coach Victor

Philippians 3:10-12
I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, and so, somehow, to attain to the resurrection from the dead. Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. (NIV)

John 11:25-26
Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die.
(NIV)

1 Peter 1:3
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead...

Knights,

I want to start out by saying congratulations to Lee Cline for winning the $250.00 Raffle! And on behalf of the Knights  "THANK YOU"! for donating your prize money to the team!

All the fundraisiers have done well so far this year... and I am sure everyone is glad they are behind us! I know... I am! Thanks to all of you for your hard work... These boys don't have a clue as to how lucky they are to have the parents that they do...  Great Job Knights!

The scrimmage game was successful in terms of seeing what needs work... the rust on the boys, is thicker than I had thought... and at the scrimmage those areas that need work shined though...lol.... I want to thank Coach Pat and the Pirates for coming out. I hope we can get a few more of these in before we all start playing every weekend.

Keep an eye on your email for practice times for this week.

See you on the field!
Coach Victor

Knights,

First I’d like to thank each of you for your help Saturday morning! Our first Pancake Breakfast fundraiser was a big success!   A special Thanks to Carmen Roop, Billy and Mary Elledge for doing all the leg work. Camren's donation Items she received for the breakfast kept the overhead down!

So with that said… The weather for this weekend is looking good… And Operation Fundraiser II “Wet Knights” might happen this Saturday. If so, we will start around 9AM and wash cars until 12PM. Break for Lunch and meet over at the Field on Alex Road between 1:30 – 2:00 for a short work day and a short field Practice...(If there is such a thing) Please bring garden tools (rakes, shovels, etc.)  I haven’t been by there, but I don’t expect it to be in too bad of shape… Also Daylight Savings time kicks in sometime this weekend… So we will have a new Practice Schedule next week and should be getting on the field during the week… so keep that in mind….

We will also have Practice at the HSV Sports Academy Friday the 6th @ 6:30PM - (This should be the last one.. I know i said this last week... But I mean it this time..LOL)

The extra TEAM t-shirts that were ordered should be in this week. We should have these at Friday Nights Practice. Cost is $17 each for T-shirts due this Friday.

PRACTICE

  • Friday – HSV Sports Academy – 6:30PM
  • Saturday – Carwash – 9AM to 12PM – Chevron in M’ville (Corner of Patterson Ln and HWY 431)

Knights,

The boys have had some pretty good practices. I know these Saturdays are long and hard on the them... and soon when the time changes, we will get on a normal schedule... So please bare with this for just a little longer. I appreciate everyone's patience and determination to make all this work. It takes much more than the boys to make this thing tick! So Thanks!

I hope all the raffles tickets are selling like hot cakes...LOL.. if not get to selling!
We need all the extra money beyond the player fees that we can get our hands on...LOL

I have e-mailed a event flyer for our pancake breakfast... Please print and pass around/hang up at a local store or anywhere you feel might get us some walk in customers.

Also Half of the Player Fee was due Saturday. This money is needed to get our uniform order going. If you forgot to pay Billy please get this to him ASAP.
