CHADRON TITANS SPONSORS MAKE IT HAPPEN
Remember these names:TACO JOHNS OF CHADRON, DONALD'S HOT STUFF PIZZA, AND NEBRASKALAND TIRE CO.If it weren't for these businesses, the Titans would not be allowed to play any of their "three" scheduled home games in Chadron. Without going into detail, the Titans were issued a "Friday closing time" deadline to come up with insurance coverage. The insurance company (name withheld), sensing desparation, gave a quote that exceeded $500. In short, thank you Taco Johns of Chadron, Donald's Hot Stuff Pizza, and Nebraskaland Tire Co. for backing this fine team, enabling the Titans to play their three games on their home field, in front of their home crowd.
The Chadron junior, senior, future Legion players, parents, and fans should keep this all in mind. This year's Titans have paved the way for teams in the future once Legion careers come to an end. They have bridged the gap for ball players to continue well beyond high school. For some reason, the Titans are not welcome to play in Chadron. This is something you'll have to get used to when you're done playing Legion in Chadron. You have no value compared to Legion. The years you've put in, sacraficing for your coach and team will come to an abrupt end once you graduate. Take a minute to think about the four short years you play Legion compared to the thirty-plus years you will have to continue playing town team ball. It's time that the community leaders recognize these opportunities and encourage them instead of discouraging them. To the parents of Legion players: baseball doesn't have to end at Legion or even college. A big thanks goes out to Ty, Charlie, and Jessica for their diligence and vision. NBA Class A rankings

Syracuse Adult Baseball Gets Fundraising Boost
by Kirt Manion, Journal-Democrat, April 8, 2008
A newly-formed men’s adult baseball team in Syracuse got a big lift in the form of a donation from the family of Tyler Clabo last week. Clabo, who played with the Syracuse American Legion program, was killed in a fatal pedestrian accident on April 11, 2006. Since then, the Clabo family has set up scholarships in honor of Tyler at Syracuse-Dunbar-Aovca High School. Sam Haag, Tyler’s mom, said she saw last week’s story on the Syracuse baseball team and was moved to donate some of Tyler’s memorial fund to the effort. It’s something Tyler would have wanted. “My son had played baseball in Syracuse since he was five years old,” Haag said, adding that Tyler would have played baseball all year long if that would have been possible. The summer prior to Tyler’s death represented his last year of eligibility in the Legion program and Haag said Tyler spoke of his wish that some other program be available to former Legion players outside of slow pitch softball. “He would have loved it and I know he would have been a part of it if he was still alive,” Haag said. Haag said contributing to the adult baseball team is a good way to honor her son. “It makes me feel good to do something in his name,” Haag said. An exact donation amount hasn’t been finalized, but Haag said she hopes to contribute $250 to the Syracuse adult baseball team. Ben Steele, who is organizing the baseball team, said the donation is very much welcomed and said that the players on this year’s adult team will honor Tyler’s memory by wearing his initials or Legion jersey number on their jerseys. “I want to show how much we appreciate that,” Steele said. Tyler Clabo was the son of Sam and Russ Haag and Randy Clabo.
