As stricter regulations come into play--and more emphasis is placed on injury and concussion prevention, there will be continued focus on the condition of helmets. The club has had a supply of helmets that were provided by a combination of youth grant funds and membership dues many years back. New rules and regulations made it necessary for the JV/V players to purchase their own. The club has continued to make helmets available to the MS team, but with growing numbers and aging helmets-we are just about at the point where new players will need to purcase their own for both sizing and safety reasons.
What to buy? --and where?
The rules mandate that all JV/V teams having matching color schemes-so lets start that with youth (if you have a different color already it is ok at YOUTH/MS level only).
You can purchase any brand--Cascade/Brine/Riddell/Warrior, etc--but ensure it is a white helmet with red visor/trim. Try and stick to the basic black face mask and not chrome/titanium.
There are several models/brands that allow for size adjustment or air add/release.
