    Ipo's Update 08/25/08
    August 25, 2008 - 08:33 PM --   Dear Friends,

Just want to update all of you and also thank you all for your prayers!

I have great news! What the doctors thought was a cancerous situation for me seems to have miraculously disappeared and they can not find hide nor hair of it any where. All the tests, all of the MRI's and all of the
x-rays, originally showed that I Had a 90% probability that I had Prostate Cancer. So this is when I emailed all of you and asked for your prayers and intersession. I must say that I am so very thankful to God for answering prayers. The last thing the doctors wanted was a biopsy to determine the type of cancer and the coarse of action needed.

Biopsy's are no fun! They did 6 times as many biopsy samples as they told me they were going to do.

Biopsy and the final ultrasound showed that the growth was no longer there and that I have a clean bill of health! Hmmmmm where did it go? Doctors seemed a bit puzzeled but glad to be able to give good news.

I must say to all of you that I am so thankful for all of your prayers. I will gladly bend a knee with any of you, any time, for anyone and anywhere!...... God is good and I am so humbled by all of this. I am moreso now a prayer warrior for all of our brotheres and sisters who are going thru these type of struggles with cancers and other infirmities that the thoughts of any of you brings me to prayer.

It is hard to write this without getting a bit choked up because I do not feel very worthy of such a gift but it must be written and said to all of you.... to tell you how much your prayers and thoughts have meant to me and my family. These few typed words just don't seem to be enough.... Thank you !,,, Thank you all soooooo much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ipo Ross, Commissioner of the Oregon Football League

I am asking you to pray for me.
I recently sent this out to all of the members of the OFL Board and I was then asked by several of them if they could share it with others in the league and I thought of it for a bit and said that that would be just wonderful and I would be greatful for your (everyones) prayers. So, I am publishing on our web sight, what I sent out to those on the board, on August 1st, 2008.

    Hello everyone,

Over all these years being a part of the OFL it has been & is great to be a part of all that all of you have done. One of the things that I am always the most proud of is, how all of the teams(players) always gathers together after each hard faught football game and we make time to pray for one another. It always says a lot about who you men are and where your priorities are being placed. I am always pleased to take a knee along side of you to give God thanks for watching over you all, your families and friends. The reason I am sending this out to all of you, is to ask all of you to pray for me. I go in today to have a biopsy taken on a growth that I have on my prostate muscle (because the doctors think it may be cancerous). Needless to say this is the reason that I am asking for you to pray for me. Needless to say I know that many of you have had loved ones who have and are going through different types of cancer situations as well(and I am praying for you too). Gods will be done in all things. Thank you all so much for being Godly men and the women, so the next time you bend a knee, please say a pray for me... my family too. Thank you and may God bless you, your families and friends too!

    Best regard
    Ipo Ross, Commissioner, OFL

I will keep you all informed as I learn more.

    End of Year League Meeting
December 9, 2007  --   The OFL concluded the 2007 year with a League meeting between all member teams this past sunday in Eugene. Although the OFL had numerous application from potential teams, only 1 was admitted for the upcoming 2008 season, the Springfield Buzzards. However, the OFL has decided to provide by-weeks for each team this season on its schedule to allow for possible non-league match-ups for potential future OFL teams. Season schedule to be released, barring setback, on Sunday December 16th.

    Last Minute OFL Addition
The OFL was sadden recently by the withdraw of the SWO Raiders, a founding team dating back to their days as the Douglas Outlaws, from the League for the upcoming 2008 season. This opened up a spot in the South Division which the Springfield Buzzards filled. The vacated spot in the North Division was filled by the Vancouver Vipers, a previous independant team who had applied for acceptance into the OFL.

    OFL Champion
    Oregon Outlaws, 2007 OFL Champs.

    The Oregon Football League
The Oregon Football League is a amateur football league providing a opportunity for players to continue playing football after high school and college. The league promotes sportsmanship and a sense of community among players, coaches, and their families.

For all teams, coaches and players! Get all your players on Board and doing the right things with equipment and uniforms please! The right colored undershirts, Jerseys tucked in, the right type of pads (not altered in any way), the right colored Jerseys used at the games, Only approved NCAA gloves (With the Tags on the Gloves), the right colored pants, and the list can go on.... so please take care of business in these little areas unless you care to have penalties issued for these areas. Remember that we have set up these guidelines for ourselves and we ask the referees to enforce them..........!! So, if a referee finds these infractions and acts upon them..... be aware that you all have knowledge of these rules yourselves, they are a part of our rules (NCAA) and you have all been given notice that this has been addressed. So please do not ask for referees to make exceptions because someone forgot... or didn't know. Thank you all in advance for you help and compliance in these areas. Our referees will be calling these to your attention (whenever possible for you to correct) & have been instructed to do so.

    NCAA Eligibility
March 1, 2005  --   To All OF Board Members, Coaches and Players ~ April 2, 2004

Information regarding the issue of Players concerned with the eligibility Status for anyone who plays in the OFL.

Oregon Football League, is a non-profit organization that is for community benefit. We promote the sport of Football by providing opportunity for anyone to play football in an amateur venue by operating with guidelines from the NCAA format and rules with some variations as set by the OFL Board of Directors, bylaws and Guidelines. We are an amateur Football League that does not pay its players to play, nor are we a member of the NCAA.

College or Potential College Players: The Oregon Football League upholds the premises of the NCAA eligibility guidelines (with OFL changes) for the purpose of any and all players playing in the OFL. Should any Player have concerns with regard to their potential eligibility in an NCAA member institution that they intend to participate in, it is prudent and recommended that each player seek the guidelines of that institution before playing with the OFL, because each institutions guidelines may have variations to their Eligibility Requirements.

Review with Players Yearly: The OFL is governed by a board of director, with facilitation thru its Commissioner and officers, who together, are the vested and official operators of each team in the OFL and its body. It is thereby the fiduciary responsibility of each teams board member to monitor and precipitate the guidelines of the OFL's compliance with and thru each team and its players to maintain the integrity of the OFL for its players or potential players.
Currently, after much review and many phone calls to authorities within the NCAA and officials for the NCAA the rule is we do not pay any players to play with in our organization and our organization is a not for profit organization for the benefit for our communities, whereby all who choose to play within the OFL guidelines, are eligible to participate within our guideline of operation without the fear of loss of amateur eligibility, should you be a player who would need to maintain amateur eligibility status for future play within an NCAA environment. ~~ One thing of note however, If a player who is thinking of or may want to play football in any amateur level (Example - a college governed by the NCAA) that player, needs to know the rules and guidelines to maintain that status for themselves. There are many actions and non-actions, on the part of every player that can eliminate there amateur eligibility status.... this means that every player needs to know for themselves, what constitutes amateur and what does not. Know that once any player crosses over from amateur to semi-professional or professional, there is no returning to amateur status in that sport for that individual. The Oregon Football League is currently continuing to operate and will continue operating with 'amateur status play' first and foremost as the venue we will continue to operate under until at such time the OFL body shall dictate to so otherwise.

Thanks to those of you who raised the questions as well as thanks to those of you who also brought the sources for the help. You were all good resources for finding and gathering information and shared insights,as well as having good input and points of view (which only caused the digging to be deeper, and helped to get to the heart of the matter quicker). This is how a good Board works and it always pays off in the long haul where everyone can benefit.
