Cold Weather- Hot Games - Catch Some
The Varsity ladies are 7-4 and playing good up tempo basketball. With a pair of victories this week they can take command of 2nd place in the 3A/2A/1A West Division. The boys varsity continues to put forth the effort without seeing the results on the scoreboard. They play nice team ball and have very positive stretches that are fun to watch. Both teams feed off your energy so come out on Tuesday and cheer them on. The JV squads are both doing quite well in a tough division for them. Neither JV team will play at home this week, but they appreciate your support as well so go on the road to encourage our "next generation" if you can.
See records under "Standings" tab and Varsity write-ups under "Game Results". Would love to add JV write-ups if someone will submit them.

Gym Dedication Planned
Rockville High School will be naming its Gym in honor of Coach Jim Conner.
Coach Conner was this schools first basketball coach and was a talented and well respected coach. The 1st senior class of 1971 won a State Championship. His team won a 2nd State Championship in 1973. Coach Conner's teams participated in four State championships winning two and
losing two in the semi-finals one in double overtime.
This dedication will take place on Friday February 8th here at Rockville. It will take place between the Varsity Girls and Boys game that night vs. Watkins Mill. The girls game starts at 5:15pm.
A reception will take place after the game in the cafeteria. There are many of you in the community who knew Coach Conner. Also many of you coaches and AD's. Please help us in spreading the word about this night and hope to see some of you here.
Any questions please contact me here at Rockville.

Season Opens with Kennedy Cavaliers - Go RAMS!!!!
SNOW -- Games will be played THURSDAY NIGHT 12/06
New Season -- Same Ram Spirit !!!!
Welcome to new Varsity Boys Coach GJ Kissal and to returning Varsity Girls leader Mark Crichton. Both teams had wonderful seasons in 2006-2007. The Ladies return a strong group that should make some noise in the realigned divisional set up. The Men are young and untested, but will guaranteed leave nothing in the tank at the end of each game.
JV basketball is always exciting to watch as the underclassmen develop the skills that will allow them to step forward as the leaders of future teams.
All teams are ready to get the season going. Come on out and show your support for the kids.

Summer Camp 2007 Huge Success
July 31, 2007 --
The 2nd Annual Rams Basketball camp, held in July, was a great success from all angles. More kids had more fun, learned more skills, won more awards than the year before....the smiles tell the tale.
Rams Basketball Camp 2007 Photo Album (click here)
The camp counselors were many of the JV and V Rams that you will see on the court this winter. It is great fun to watch them help the youngsters that will one day take their place on the Ram hardwoods- thanks counselors.
During the 2 very successful weeks we had Tywon Lawson (Bishop McNamara and UNC), Jeremy Myers (Bullis School and Morgan St.) and Scott Fumai (Good Counsel and Catholic U.) as guest speakers. They shared experiences and philosophies with the campers and signed autographs.
Be a part of Rams Camp 2008 - watch for fliers later this winter.
Go Little Rams!

1st Round Boys Fri 02/23/2007. Girls 02/24. These are the predetermined dates per the State site, but the ADs make the final arrangements based on several factors.
Quarterfinals B Mon 02/26, G 02/27
Mon 02/26 Men play at #1 Winters Mill (15-3) just as we did last year.
Ladies would play at #3 Century
Semifinals B Wed 02/28, G 03/01
Regional Finals B Fri 03/02, G 03/03
Watch this space for more updates as they happen.
Explaination of how it works:
The four teams with the best winning percentage are seeded as 1-4. All other teams are drawn in a random seed so each team, no matter what their record, has a 50-50 chance of a home playoff game. And it also means you might play a team with a better record, equal or lesser no matter what your record is.
Last year we drew seeds that allowed for a home doubleheader for the guys and the girls - and we won both games!!! Let's hope for the same.

The Gazette newspaper has labeled the Rockville Lady Rams and B.C.C. Barons Varsity Basketball game tomorrow as the GAME OF THE WEEK. This is the final divisional game for the Lady Rams and we would love to have your support for the 7pm start. B.C.C. brings the county's #2 scoring guard, Nalini Hawkins to the game and the Lady Rams bring a balanced scoring attack and Junior Shaday Doyley to shut her down. Last year Shaday limited Hawkins touches and the Lady Rams lost by 2 at B.C.C. on a buzzer-beater. Come out and support your Lady Rams at 7:00 tomorrow evening as they look to improve to 10-4 in the division!!

Congratulations, your school’s boys varsity basketball game on January 26th has been selected as part of our “Fox5 High School Game of the Week” poll !
Each week, the staff here at the station selects five area high school basketball games for selection to our poll. The poll appears on our website, myfoxdc.com. We then ask you to choose which game we should cover !
How ?
Encourage everyone who has a rooting interest in your school to go to our website, click on the “sports” tab and look to the right hand side of the page. Click on the “Fox5 High School Game of the Week” and that will direct you to our voting poll. Then click on your game as your voting choice. Whichever game gets the most votes is our winner ! The announcement of the winning game will come on Thursday night during the Fox5 News at 10. Then we’ll be out to give your game the star treatment on Friday. Lou Holder and Sue Palka will anchor the 5pm newscast from the site of the host school. We’ll invite the coaches, players, cheerleaders, band and student body from each school, to join us on the 5pm show, then have extensive highlights and post-game comments on our 10pm show. It gets even better: more extensive highlights and coverage can be found on the website after the game, complete with an article on the game.
This is what we need you to do:
-get the announcement out to EVERYONE and tell them to vote !
-then monitor the voting through the week to see how your game is doing and keep voting.
We’ll coordinate the star treatment for the game with the provided contacts, including guests
YOUR GAME WILL BE AVAILABLE TO VOTE ON, THIS SUNDAY AFTERNOON Jan 21

Playoff Round 2- Teams Must Go through the Best of the West
February 28, 2006 --
Round 2 of the Playoffs has both Rams Teams facing the #1 Regional Seeds.
We'll be there cheering for you.
Gazette Article Boys & Girls V Playoff Wins (02/24/2006)
Scores:
Girls finished second- 18-53. More details coming.
Special thanks to Dr. Munk, Coach and Mrs. Freeman, The Wrestling Guys, Frank Weaver, Mr. Daddone and other parents and fans that made the trip to support our ladies. We love you girls-very good season!!!
Quoted from game result written by the ever energetic FB: "On behalf of the parents and fans, I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Lady Ram players (especially the seniors Megan Mason and Olivia McKendall) and the coaches for a wonderful season. We lost 2 key offensive players from last year (one being 6’1”) and it was uncertain how the coaches and players would respond. You responded by having 5 players hitting the 100 point mark and winning 8 games (compared to 5 from last year). Success can be measured by the number of victories but it can also be measured by different parameters: the amount of fun the players had, how much they learned about basketball, and how they improved as players and a team over the course of the season. Based upon these parameters, we have a VERY successful team and coaching staff. Thanks for memories."
Boys: also finished 2nd 59-87. They played hard and had a nice 12-1 run over the 2nd period start, but in the end too much strong passing and good outside shooting by the hosts did them in.
We all know it was a long season on the hardwoods guys, results-wise. But you fought until the end and showed pride in your school and in your coach and most importantly in yourselves. Thanks for letting us watch you grow. You are our champions. See you Saturday at the Banquet.
