Rams Lose to Liberty - End of a Terrific Season
November 8, 2005 --
A fine season of great accomplishments finally came to an end this evening in the rain at Liberty. The Rams fell 0-3 on a goal midway thru the first half and two late breakaways.
The game didn't end the way we would like- but the over achieving Division Champs and Regional Finalists have done things no other soccer team at Rockville has done in five (won division) or ten (gotten to regional finals) years. Be proud.
RamPage Article Boys Varsity Playoff Liberty (11/09/2005)
From Coach Abdel:
Deal with your setbacks: Everyone experiences problems. In times of trouble, allow yourself to experience negative emotions, deal with them and move on. People who win big don't escape failure. Mistakes provide important information to help us deal with changes in our lives. Unfortunately, some people ignore errors or try to forget them. Others berate themselves for making blunders. The inner critic runs wild. While you need your inner critic, you need to keep it focused and under control.
Congratulations from the Coach.
And Congratulations to the boys, to the coach, and to all the Ram soccer teams. You played hard, you played to win.
See you all Sunday at the banquet. Be sure your parent rep (Kathleen, Anna, Kathy or Michele) has your money and knows you are coming. Details below.

Coaches' Words to Inspire #2
Don’t tolerate unacceptable behavior.
Behavior is so crucial to team success or failure that a willingness to abide by agreed-upon values and norms should be a qualification for membership.
Making that expectation non-negotiable sends a strong message: When people refuse to abide by expectations, they are deciding not to be on the team.
Members allowed to remain in spite of their behavior will undermine the team’s morale and performance. Typically, values and norms evolve over time and remain unspoken and unwritten unless they’re violated. Though a team leader can’t control how the members feel about each other, he/she can make behavioral expectations clear.
Team members often test limits to see whether the leader is serious about the standards. A leader who champions positive behavior gains respect, while a leader who ignores negative behavior loses it. A leader’s credibility hinges on modeling the values and norms and holding members accountable.

News & Notes
Friday, September 30, 2005; Page E06
Junior forward Eduardo Flores scored twice in the second half last night to lead the Rockville boys' soccer team to a 4-1 comeback victory over No. 2 Bethesda-Chevy Chase . Flores tied the game one minute into the second half and gave the Rams (8-1) the lead with another goal 20 minutes later. Alex Goycochea assisted on Flores's second goal and scored two of his own in the final five minutes. The Barons (5-1) lost for just the second time in 17 games; the other was to Severna Park in last year's Maryland 3A title game. . . .

Coaches Corner- Words to Inspire
September 24, 2005 --
Be optimistic.
Leaders who are upbeat and positive inspire similar feelings in their teams. Optimists and pessimists view the same events in dramatically different ways.
An optimist sees obstacles as temporary roadblocks. Also, an optimist concentrates on specific events. Confronted with a failed plan, he/she will look for the one mistake.
The pessimist sees only the broken dream rather than focusing on he real causes and real remedies. To boost your ability to deal with change, concentrate on what is going right.
Success is a journey, not a destination. The way you react to change will greatly affect your trip. If you merely cope with the inevitable bumps and hurdles, you can expect mediocrity. But if you seek out and embrace change, you will discover it can be a source of great inspiration.
View change as a challenge. Every change, even if it's negative, presents an opportunity. Change can be an ally-if you take advantage of it.

Season Opener - Rockets launch our season
A new season is upon us. All the "old" seniors are gone and a full new crop of energetic kids is set to take the field as proud Rams.
A new divisional alignment lets the hopes spring eternal. This season the divisional opponents include Wheaton, Blake, Einstein, Northwood and Kennedy. We will meet those teams in the middle of the season as a series of Varsity Doubleheaders. Non-divisional opponents include RM, QO, Damascus, Seneca Valley and Watkins Mill. Those games are played as JV-V doubleheaders. The final game of the season is played after playoff pairings are finalized. This year the Rams will take on the Churchill Bulldogs as a Girl/Boy Varsity only (no JV games) doubleheader and SENIOR NIGHT.
Stay tuned for game scores and reports all season.

Fun Times - Banquet is set - RSVP by 11/05/2008
Now for the fun and awards....
The Banquet for all four teams is set for 11/09/2008 at RHS. Please RSVP to your Parent Rep by 11/05/2008 -- or BEFORE!!!
It is always a fun time and the more that come the better - let's shoot for 100% attendance.
Banquet Form - click here - or link through "Handouts" tab
If you haven’t already signed up to attend the RHS end-of-season soccer banquet, please do so as soon as possible. This is a really fun way for the players to end their season in the company of their teammates from all 4 of the school’s teams, and be recognized by all the coaches for their efforts.
This event has been designed to be as inexpensive as possible to allow the maximum number of players and family members to attend. If any player would like to attend but feels that they cannot afford the fee, please feel free to contact your coach or parent rep to discuss – we don’t want any player who wants to attend to feel that the fee will prevent them from celebrating their season with their team.
The banquet will take place at Rockville High School in the cafeteria, which will be festively decorated.
Above is a link to the sign-up form with details and instructions on how to register.
Parent Reps and coaches, please forward this circulate this message to your full team – parents included – once again to assure team attendance. Perhaps some of the players will discuss among themselves to get their families registered.
Go Rams!
