19 minutes into the 2nd half, 0-0 with the Scorpions dominating the game. AR calls offside, but Head Ref overrules and allows a free kick for the only score. GREAT GAME BY ALL THE BOYS!
5/2/08: Round 4: Scorpions beat East Islip 2 to nothing, our 3rd State shut out game, to advance to Round 5, the Final 8, the North/South Crossover games.
Powerful defense by Danny, Ollie, Jimmy, Paddy, Johnny & Nick to provide the shutout. Danny sacrifice the body to deflect a shot by EI. Jimmy racing in to clear the deflected shot. 14:30 into the 1st half, Johnny races in to keep the ball inside the 18 to set up a corner kick. Stefan serves it up, Gabe brings it down, BANG, Scorpions up by 1. Two minutes later, Joey send a pass into the 18 yd-box and Nico bang its in for goal # 2. Play of the night. Paddy sends the ball down the left sideline. Bernhardt breaks away to race down the sideline. EI's goalie comes out of the net to slide tackle Nicky, but Nicky sees the Scooter out in the open and lays the cross to the far post. The Scooter puts it into high gear, all along in the flats, to try and tap the ball into the net. One step short before the ball misses the net and a goal.
4/27/08, Round 3, Scorpions 5 vs Smithtown Bulls 0, Scorpions advance to round 4
1:30 into the game, Scooter & Nico applied the pressure to force the Bulls to turn off the ball inside the 18. Stephan strikes quickly for the score.
12:20, Paddy hits a bomb into the box. Gabe & Bernhardt battle to win the ball. Bernhardt slides it past the goalie.
23:00, Joey from the left corner drills one to the top of the net.
1:40 into the 2nd Half, Joey back out to Gabe, inside the 18, bang goal.
11:23, E makes a defense stop just outside the 18 and with his right foot, bangs it to the top of the net, far post. Great playing by all the boys: Jimmy, Bigilin, Johnny, Paddy, Stephan, Hunter, Gabe, Bernhardt, Ollie, Danny, Nico, Scott, Joey, Ronnie and E.

Ollie with the 1st big save, set the tone for the win.
Joey, E, Johnny, Ronnie & Stefan bang them in for the win. Great Defense by all the boys (Ollie, Jimmy, Bigilin, E, Paddy, Nanos, Ronnie, Hunter, Stefan, Bernhardt, Joey, Scott, Theo, Gabe & Johnny) enabled the win. Jimmy again with the huge defensive stop in the final minutes of the game that got him high praises from the Refers.
Scorpions now warmed up and fine tuned with some adjustments, start their Rock & Roll way to the championship.
Semi-Finals: LSTS FC MILAN (NJ) 0 Vs MASSAPEQUA SCORPIONS (NYE) 3
The Scorpions rose with the sun with a burst of energy, dominating the game, putting Milan on defense the entire game. 8:34 into the game the battle erupted in the box, with Gabe passing to Stefan, Stefan slides it over to Ronnie, Ronnie makes a move and slides it out to E for the 1st Strike! 2nd half, gets even more exciting, with Milan trying to take out E, with a high slide tackle. The Scorpions rally behind the cheap shot. Paddy races across midfield to keep the attack going, placing a shot directly into the 18-yd-box. Joey receives the ball, beating 2 defenders to place strike 2! Minutes winding down, Milan on their heels, Bernhardt drives the ball down the right side, crosses the ball to Theo, who crosses back to Stefan for STRIKE 3 and Milan is out of there!
Finals: MASSAPEQUA SCORPIONS (NY) 4 vs CAROLINA SELECT (NC) 0 (ranked 16th in the Nation)
Scorpions have all cylinders running now. 19:00, Theo passes the ball out to E, who crosses the ball into the box for Joey to dance the ball into the net. 2nd half, with Carolina thinking we just got lucky with a ‘miracle’; miracles start flying after they took down E, with an elbow to the eye. E sidelined, demanding to go back into the game, but his trainer (me) would not let him go back in until he could see the 2 fingers I was holding up. 11:00, Stefan launches a corner kick into the box. Hunter brings it down and blasted the ball by 11 Select players. 15:00, E back in the game, places a perfect lead ball out to Joey for the 3rd miracle. 29:00, Hunter makes a big defensive stop on a goal kick and drives home the final MIRACLE.
Other highlights: Zino got a lot of funny feelings about the games, but got to stand proud up to BWG over the championship. Gabe Sr got a new wardrobe to be in the “in-crowd.” Famous Daves and their BQ Sauces were a big hit with the Boys. The Boys learned to play Hackey-Sack from Clay in the airport. Clay became the new team photographer. The airport waiting area became a new Futsal court while we waited and until airport security shut us down. And the MSC Scorpions got national recognition for a job well done.
3/9/08, Kristine Lilly Tournament, Beachside, Ct. Scorpions - Undefeated & Unscored upon, Champions, 3-0-0.
W 2-0 Vs Arsenal Gunners, Ronnie 2 goals, one off Joey's shot bouncing off the top of the goal post, for the assist.
W 1-0 Vs Beachside Soccer Club, Joey served up a perfect corner shot into the box and Gabe banged it in. "You have to have Gabe!/(GAME!)
W 2-0 Vs FC Westchester, the toughest game of the day. On a defensive clear-out from the box, E steps up to drill the ball back into the box for Joey to nail it into the net. 2nd Goal, The Scooter battling hard inside the 18-yd box, strikes a shot at the goal that skins off Bernhard's head for a Goal. When Scotty was asked after the goal, "what are you going to do now?" Scotty responded, "I got to PEE." (not I am going to Disneyland.)
Jimmy had the tackle of the day, winning the ball away for a BIG Kid, on a break away to keep the day scoreless for our opponents.
As Paul told the boys, great effort by the whole team (Ollie, Danny, Jimmy, Bigilin, E, Paddy, Nanos, Ronnie, Hunter, Stefan, Bernhardt, Joey, Scott, Theo, Gabe & Johnny that provided the wins.
PS, Mr. Healy did not get runover or hit with the ball when crossing the field to retrive a loose ball!

11/4/07: Scorpions (5) Vs Beachside Academy, CT (2): Scorpions hit the Beach!
The Scorpions recovered from their tough division lose yesterday, by schooling the academy team on beautiful Sunday afternoon. It was a great battle by both teams. Scorpions dominated the 1st half, with 6 minutes into the half, Ronnie is fouled in the box. E takes the PK and strikes quickly to the top of the net. 2nd Half, Beachside comes out hard and determined, quickly scoring to tie the game, but the Scorpions keep on coming. 19:00, Ollie takes the ball to the left side, passes back to Joey who crosses quickly to Hunter racing in towards the top of the 18, BANG-GOAL for the lead. Hunter’s 1st Scorpion GOAL. 23:00, Beachside retaliates to tie the game again. 27:00, Scorpions increase their drive and attack on the net. Gabe battles hard into the right side of the 18-yd box, against several defenders. Gabe running out of stream hits a volley over the goalie reach. Bernhardt races in to head the ball into the NET & the Scorpions take the lead. Scorpions stay HOT! 28:00, Rony on a throw-in to Stefan, who chips a 25-yd shot into the net. 29:00, Bernhardt crosses a rebound off the post to Hunter at the top of the 6-yd line, Bang-Goal! Great job by all the Scorpions; Patrick, Conor, Bigilin, Nanas, Bernhardt, Stefan, Joey, Ollie, Johnny, E, Danny, Jimmy, Gabe, Scott, Hunter, Rony and Dan.
11/3/07: Scorpions (0) Vs Bayport Lightning (0): Scorpions battled hard to the End.
The Scorpions put on a light show for their 1st night game, but it was one bad bounce that can change the outcome of the game. Both teams battled to a scoreless 1st half. Then will 15:00 into the 2nd half, a chip shot takes a high bounce into the net. Great job by all the Scorpions; Patrick, Conor, Bigilin, Nanas, Bernhardt, Stefan, Joey, Ollie, Johnny, E, Danny, Jimmy, Gabe, Scott, Hunter, Rony and Dan.
10/27/07: Scorpions (2) Vs Stony Brook Knights (0): Scorpions slay the Knights
Rain & a muddy field made for a dramatic finish by the Scorpions. 8 minutes left in the 2nd half, Joey drives wide to the right and lays up a volley across the goal box. Bigilin crashes the box, the defender & the goalie to get some serious height to head the ball into the net. 4 minutes left in the half, Danny V & Joey battle hard to score inside the 18. Shot by Joey is knocked out by the goalie. Gabe waiting patiently at the top 18-yard box strikes a low shot into the net. Great job by all the Scorpions; Patrick, Conor, Bigilin, Nanas, Bernhardt, Stefan, Joey, Ollie, Johnny, E, Danny, Jimmy, Gabe, Scott, Hunter, Rony and Dan with 2 saves.
10/20/07: Scorpions (3) Vs LI B96 Academy (2): Scorpions train the Academy
13:45, Joey in the right corner, passes back to Johnny, Johnny back to Gabe, Gabe crosses to the middle of the field, Bigilin passes out to Stefan on the left, who spins and blasted a 25-yard Strike! 17:50, Stefan on a corner kick, serves up a beauty. Scott, the Scooter, crashes through everyone to head the ball into the top of the net. 19:00, E serves up a perfect corner kick, with Bernhard & Scott both crashing through the defenders. Bernhard with the height advantage, heads the ball, just over the net, crashing down into the goal post. Nicky is OK, but who is paying for the dent in the goal post? 2nd Half, Bernhard heads a ball back down to Bigilin. Bigilin passes it over to Joey who makes his signature moves to beat 2 defenders for a goal. Welcome Hunter, Great job by all the Scorpions; Patrick, Conor, Bigilin, Nanas, Bernhardt, Stefan, Joey, Ollie, Johnny, E, Danny, Jimmy, Gabe, Scott, Hunter, Rony and Dan with 2 saves.
10/13/07: Scorpions (3) Vs MSC Arsenal (0): Scorpions shutout the Arsenal
8:52 into the half, Johnny pressures the Arsenal defense and steals the ball. Johnny from the outside right corners laces a shot to the top of the net for a goal. 2nd Half the Scorpions turn it up. Stefan with a free kick 30 yards out places a perfect shot just off the finger tips of the Arsenal goalie for the score. 27:00 into the 2nd half, Rony gets a perfect pass from E. Rony dances around 2 defenders for the score. Danny had 2 saves. Great job by all the Scorpions; Patrick, Conor, Bigilin, Nanas, Bernhardt, Stefan, Joey, Ollie, Johnny, E, Danny, Jimmy, Gabe, Scott and Rony.
10/7/07 YMS Columbus Cup Tournament, PA, Championship Bracket, Flight 2 winner, finished 3rd overall out of 12 teams in Championship Bracket (2-1-0)
Great job by all the Scorpions this weekend; Patrick, Bigilin, Nanas, Bernhardt, Stefan, Joey, Ollie, Johnny, E, Danny, Jimmy, Gabe, Scott, Reilly, Hunter and Rony. We missed Conor’s intensity, hope he feels better. Great weekend for the Scorpions, the only 2 goals scored against them were off dead balls, way to battle!
Game 1: Scorpions (0) Vs NJ Celtic (1) Scorpions robbed of a Victory
The Scorpions matched the intensity of the #1 ranked NJ State team, to fall to the most confusing call by a Ref. The Scorpions traded equal SOGs with NJ. Danny provided 8 HUGE saves. With less then 30 seconds left in a great game, the Ref calls a foul that goes against NJ just outside the 18 yd-box. The Ref then reverses the call, given NJ a Free Kick. NJ taps the ball, Scorpions all charge the ball and block the shot, BUT, the Ref calls it a do-over, why, reason # 1, NJ didn’t touch the ball, # 2, Ref stated we were line up in-correctly & # 3, threaten the boys with yellow cards if they charge again, becaue it would be dangerous play. Poor call in a great game that should have ended in a TIE (Zero-Zero) and advanced us into the Winner’s Bracket.
Game 2: Scorpions (4) Vs WCUSC (0) Scorpions come out on top.
The Scorpions beat PA’s #5 ranked team, by putting on a show and bouncing back from the morning upset. Joey 2 minutes into the game, on a break away bangs in a goal. 17 minutes late, E from the corner, crosses into the box. Scotty makes a great effort to get a foot on the ball, enough to deflect the ball over to Stefan, who drills it to the top of net.
2nd half, 12:00, Gabe from the right corner, under pressure crosses to Hunter at the top of the 18, who heads the ball over to Joey just outside the box-bang-goal. 25:00, Joey knocked down in the box on a break away, nails the penalty kick to the top of the net. Danny had 3 Saves.
Game 3: Scorpions (2) Vs Baltimore Bays Casa Mia (1) Scorpions Finished Strong.
Casa Mia ranked #4 in MD, we knew would be an intense HOT game. The Scorpions have battled Casa twice before, losing 2 to 1, both times, but with the Scorpions dominating both games. Now the Scorpions stepped it up and turned the table for a big win between these two top teams. 7:00, Stefan takes a shot off the top of the post that is scooped up by Gabe to volley a shot into the net. 23:00, E crosses through the box. Scotty races into the goal box to just get a foot on the ball to slow it down for Reilly, who races in and bangs in his 1st Scorpion goal, just inside the post.
9/29/07: Scorpions (3) Vs HBC Devils (4): Scorpions battle the Devils.
Jimmy Harris set the record for setting up the quickest goal in a Scorpion game. The Devils started off with the ball being passed back to a midfielder. Jimmy raced to the ball, quickly stealing the ball and knocked the ball over to Bigilin for the kill strike-goal. Devils battled back to score 2. With less then a minute in the half, Bernhard dances around 3 Devils’ defenders to bang one into the top of the net.
2nd Half, tie 2-2, the battle continues with 5 minutes in to the half, Stefan crosses to Joey at the right corner of the goalie’s box. Joey bangs the shot off the goalie, but Ollie lying in waiting at the top of the 18, drives the ball into the net. Ollie also made one huge save, diving across the goalie box, at the line to head a ball out for the save. Devils won on a tough deflected shot by Danny to top goal bar and out. Great job by all the Scorpions; Patrick, Conor, Bigilin, Nanas, Bernhardt, Stefan, Joey, Ollie, Johnny, E, Danny, Jimmy, Gabe, Scott and Rony
9/15/07: Scorpions (4) Vs East Islip (2): Scorpions Dominate Over Suffolk’s Div. Champs
Scorpions stayed hot dominating the game over E.Islip with 18 SOGs. Danny V provided 4 saves for the Scorpions. Scorpion defensive held the line shutting down Suffolk’s division champs last year.
Jimmy, Johnny & Joey created a build up down the right side of the field. Joey then laces a cross to E in the box, bang goal! 2nd half, Scorpions go out strong, with Bigilin driving through the defenders, gets drag down in the box for a Penalty Kick. Joey nails the penalty kick to the top of the net. 7:40 into the 2nd half, Stefan lays out a pass to Bigilin, who dances around 4 defenders and drives the ball into the net.
23.02, E passes a through ball out to Ollie. Ollie on a break away, nails it into the net. EI finally scores with less then 3 minutes in the game. Big Defense and hustle by all the Scorpions; Patrick, Conor, Bigilin, Nanas, Bernhardt, Stefan, Joey, Ollie, Johnny, E, Danny, Jimmy, Gabe, Scott and Rony contribute to the Scorpions 2nd win.
9/08/07: Rivalry at its best, the ‘SOB Series’ Returns: Scorpions (3) Vs POB Piranhas (0): Welcome to 11 V 11 Soccer, Big field, Deep Talent on the bench and the Passion to climb back on top!
The season started with the Scorpions beating last year's State Champions, 3 to nothing. On a beautiful flat and wide field the Scorpions shut out POB for the 2nd time in our travel games. The Scorpions quickly spread the ball out all over the field forcing POB to chase. With speed and drive, the Scorpions quickly took control of the game and with 8:08 on clock, Joey pops a pass over 2 defenders to Bigilin in the box, who spins and chips a beautiful shot over the goalie for the SCORE. With less then 2 minutes left in the half, Ollie gets a through ball at mid-field and dances his way around 3 defenders and the goalie to nail a goal before the half.
In the 2nd half, the Scorpions were determined to keep the drive going. Joey serves up a beautiful corner kick into the goal box. The Battle begins with shot after shot to bang the ball into the net. Ollie gets a rebound at the top of the 6yd-box and bangs it through the defenders for his 2nd Goal! Welcome to the big leagues!
The Scorpions had 4 SOG. Danny V provided 4 saves for the Scorpions. Big Defense and hustle by all the Scorpions; Patrick, Conor, Bigilin, Nanas, Bernhardt, Stefan, Joey, Ollie, Johnny, E, Danny, Jimmy, Gabe, Scott and Rony.

6/16/07, Scorpions (4) Vs Jericho (1), Final win of the season.
6/10/07, Scorpions (7) Vs Montclair Gauchos (2), Scorpions banged up the Gauchos!
After a long ride in heavy traffic down to NJ, and Scott telling us all about his stardom of handing out the official draft Hockey shirts to draftees, the Scorpions came ready to play. But, 1st we had to fine the field in the Meadow. Then we had to fine a Ref. Then, we when looking for paint to mark the field. Well we found the meadow that hadn’t been lined or seen paint in a year. Then someone took a ride to dig up a Ref.
Gauchos are described as very rough individuals, with heavy manners, that would travel alone across the land. The Scorpions more then matched the Gauchos rough & tough manner within the 1st - 3 minutes of the game. 3:18, to be exact, with Ronnie at the 18yd-line passes over to Johnny, who rifles a shot to the top of the net. 21:21 Joey lays off a pass to Johnny, again at the top of 18, to pop a shot over the goalie for his 2nd goal. 25:00, Scott, the Scooter, strikes a perfect cross into the box and Stefano bangs it in to the net.
2nd Half, 3 to nothing, the Scorpions go into high gear. 8:16, Johnny battling a defender, passes back to E, who spins and chips in a shot from outside the 18. I don’t think the goalie even seen the shot coming. 13:00, Jimmy the boot, plays a strike into the box that Stefano bangs into the net. 17:00, Brian makes a big defense stop and muscles his way down the field with the ball. Brian thinking of taken the shot, exhausted, wisely, lays off a pass to Stefano, who finished the great run by Brian, with a pop shot over the goalie for the score & the hat-trick. 29:10 Bernhardt takes a shot that bounce off the goalie to rebound the shot back into the net.
Brian, Paddy, Ollie, Scotty, Conor, Bigilin and Chris provided some serious body contact to win the ball and prevented the Gauchos from scoring.

6/9/07: Scorpions (3) Vs Garden City Demons (1): Scorpions dominated the Demons
The Scorpions played their last game at Walker, as they move on to bigger fields next year. With 1:30, into the Game, Joey at the 18yd-line, passes back to Johnny, who bangs a rocket from the outside for a goal. 2nd Half, 12:00, Johnny volleys a nice throw-in over a defender that Brian makes a nice defensive pick. The ball lands in the center of the box. Bernhardt races in and beats the goalie to the ball, for the score. 21:00, Paddy on a break away down the left side, centers the ball to Brian, who makes a nice move on the goalie and slides to punch in the ball into net. Great job by all the boys to DOMINATE the game.
6/3/07: MAPS (11 V 11) - Scorpions (1) Vs PASCO Junior Stallions, NJ (1):
Scorpions dominated the game, given up one goal on a flute shot from free kick just outside the 18, early in the game. The Scorpions out hustled and out muscled the Stallions with a big goal in the 2nd half by Bernhardt from a great cross from Johnny into the box. Bart made 3 saves, deflecting a bad bounce shot over the back of the net that could have been the Stallions winning goal. But, Joey dancing his way towards the goal, gets tripped in the box, but Ref, denies the call, given him a free kick from outside the 18. Joey was ready to win the game when he was taken down. Scorpions put up 15 SOGs to the Stallions, 4. All the Boys; Conor, Bigilin, Harris, Paddy, Flecker, Ollie, Joey, Johnny, Justin, Scott, E, Ronnie, Nicky, Danny & Bart, played outstanding.
6/2/07: Scorpions (8) Vs Albertson Attack (0): The Attack Collapsed!
Scorpions generated their own heat on a HOT Saturday afternoon, winning 8 to O. 4:15 in, E starts it off serving a perfect corner kick that slides off the tip of the goalies hand, but Johnny is right there to bang it in. 6:48, E again on a corner kick, serves up a meatball for Ollie to head the ball into the net. 10:48, Bigilin sends a nice through ball to Ollie, who out hustles everyone to bang it home. 22:00, Mullie trying to figure out which club to use, heads a ball back out from the 18, to Jimmy who strikes a goal. 24:00, Jimmy lays out a pass to the Scooter, who blasted a shot into the net. 27:00, the Scooter, working hard, places a perfect corner kick into the goal box for Jimmy to out jump everyone to head the ball into the net. WOW, Half Time!
2nd half, 5:35, E crosses to Danny V at the top of 18, who passes it out to Conor to strike a goal. 13:00, Chris crosses to Danny V at the 18, V spins and bangs it home for a goal. Great defense by Bart, Dan, Paddy, Bigilin, Jimmy, Conor & Chris shut down the ATTACK.

Second year in a row the Scorpions have played top ranked teams and won the NYS Ranked Tournament. Scorpions chalked up two shut outs and dominated every game.

6:30, Ollie sends a nice through ball up the middle. Bernhardt chases it down and places a nice chip shot over the defender that takes a nice bounce over the goalie.
7:30, Brian from the outside corner, takes a deflected shot off a defender and drives a shot from the outside corner of the field to the top of the net.
Saves: Dan V (0), Bart (3), with one outstanding dive on the ball to save a goal.

15:00, Scott blasted a shot across the box from the far right-hand corner. E taps it back into the box; Ronnie & Johnny right there to tap it in.
2nd Half, 6:46, Scott again makes a nice cross through the box. Johnny is there to bang it home. 17:00, Paddy makes a nice defensive stop and cross out to Conor. Conor continues the cross out to Bernhardt. It is a race to the ball between Nicky & the goalie. Nicky makes a nice toe-tap pass around the goalie. Open net, Nicky laces it into the net for the final score.
Great Defense by Conor, Bigilin, Harris, Chris, Paddy, Flecker, Ollie, Joey, Johnny, Scott, E, Matt, Ronnie, Nicky, Danny & Bart have let the Scorpions dominate the 1st two games. Saves: Dan V (0), Bart (3), with one outstanding wide receiver catch to save a goal.

The Scorpions put on a strong showing against the highly talent Arsenal Gunners, dominating the entire game. 1:56 into the game, Jimmy sends a great cross out to E. Eric quickly centers the ball out to the middle of the field. Gunners’ Goalie & Ronnie race for the ball. Ronnie beats out the goalie and laces it into the net. 24:45, Battle in the box, Ronnie kicks it back out to Johnny who puts the bullet in the gun and fires the ball into the net. 2nd half, 5:23, Joey serves up a corner kick and Danny V bangs it in. Saves: Dan V (0), Bart (3), with one outstanding wide receiver catch to save a goal.

Special Thanks to our Cabana Boy, Don Harris with the cold towels. The towels were a big help to cooling the boys down in between breaks, so they played refresh going back into the game.

6:08, E crosses to Brian at the top of the 18. Brian blasted a shot that the goalie couldn’t hold on to, so Joey bangs it in. 13:00, Joey makes a big defense stop and lays out a pass to Brian. Flecker takes to down the field to strike a goal. 27:00, Brian on a big defense stop, take the ball all the way to the goal. In 2nd Half, with Ollie in the Net, Brian lays out a great lead pass to Jimmy. Jimmy dances his way in to the box with 2 minutes left in the game to bang in a big goal.

3:05, Scorpions jumped out quickly with Jimmy making a great defensive stop and sending a through ball out to Ollie. Ollie out races the defender to the ball for the score.
10:03: E places a perfect corner kick to the center of the box. Ollie just missed heading the ball in. Brian grabs the rebound and just missed knocking it into the net. But Johnny is there to nail in the final rebound. Scorpions up 2 nothing at the half. POB ties the game in the 2nd half and wins the game in OT. But the win was not without one great battle and effort by Jimmy Harris. Jimmy reacted so quickly to a deflected slow rolling ball that was just before the goal line to prevent the goal. POB knocks down Jimmy shot and tries the bang it in again. Jimmy deflects the shot again before POB was able to knock it into the back of the net.
It is always tough to write when we lose, because there are so few. Great effort by all. You BOYS are still the best team out there! NO DOUBT about!
4/29/07: Scorpions (4) Vs Manhattan Kickers’95 (0) Scorpions win big over the #1 ranked team in the state.
What a game! A lot of hustling, banging and shooting, that helped the Scorpions out play the KICKERs. The Boys battled hard the 1st half, with both teams going scoreless. The coaches made some strategy adjustments with the boys and within 7 minutes the boys scored 4 goals.
8:10, Johnny places a great cross to Z. Z’s shot is just blocked by the goalie, setting up a corner kick. E serves up a beauty to the center of the goalie box. The ball just sails above the goalie head & Justin goes ‘Air-Jordan’ to head butt the ball into the net. 9:36, Scorps building up stream. The Kickers try to clear the ball out. Bigilin races down the center and from about 30-yards out laces a strike to the corner of the net. The Kickers starting to fall back more to a defensive stand. Several shots (sorry, missed who-taken care of Joey), the ball is deflected off a defender and Bigilin races in from just outside the 18 to strike a goal. 15:20, Danny V makes a great defensive stop and passes over to Bigilin. Nick crosses out to E, in the flats. E drives and strikes a bullet into the net.
Danny V & Bart both had an outstanding save each, when the Kickers got a great through ball. Both Danny & Bart out raced the Kicker to the ball, laying out on a great slide tackle, all ball and a little bid of a Kicker to block the shot. Dan had 3 saves and Bart had 2.

Great defensive plays by Conor, Jimmy, Andrew and Paddy. Scotty and Stephan battled hard to make plays happen.
4/28/07: Scorpions (4) Vs Port Washington Real (1) Scorpions make it ‘real’ with their 100th WIN! Congratulations!!!
10:50 into the half, Brian crosses out to E, who drives it deep to the left side of the field and strikes a goal. 29:30, Joey serves up a corner kick. Ollie head-balls the shot straight up into the air. E launches a rebound headshot that bounces off the top post. E says, one more time and heads the ball into the net.
2nd half, 15:25, on a defensive corner kick, Ollie heads the ball out to Danny V. Dan drives the ball across the centerline and passes out to Joey, who drives it home.
22:00, Jimmy in the striker position, crosses the ball through the box and E bangs it home.
Two big defensive plays: Bart deflects a shot off his body that rolls towards the corner goal post. Bigilin jumps in and clear the ball out, almost kicking Mullie’s head across the field with the ball. Paddy on a PW free-kick, launches his body into the air to head butt the ball out, saving a goal.

4/22/07: MAPS (11 V 11) - Scorpions (2) Vs PISC Chelsea, NJ (2)
The NY Scorpions and NJ Chelseans cross-rivers to meet in Manhattan for a royal battle. The Scorpions went into high gear from the start. Conor even tried to climb the Empire State Building to out head a ball against King Kong. 28:20, the Scorpions were down by 1, with less then a minute in the 1st half. The Scorpions on the attack, Z places a pass to Joey’s feet. Joey alone at the top of the 18, makes his move & dances pass 2 defenders for the score.
13.50, into the 2nd half, E drives deep to the corner & laces a power kick through a defender for the score. The Scorpions showed how tough they are, battling hard for the ball, leaving 4 opponents to be carried off the battlefield. With less then 30 seconds on the clock, Bigilin lines up a free kick, 30 yards out for the win. The ball just sailed over the top of the goal post.

4/21/07: Scorpions (7) Vs Hewlett Blue Thunder (2)
Where there is Thunder, there is lightning. The Scorpions struck like lightning, with 21 SOGs. It was like the goal posts were acting as lightning rods.
11:45, Joeys chips a lead shot just over the center line and Ollie out races everyone to the ball to chip his own shot of the goalie for the score.
16:58, Danny V, all alone battles & wins the ball striking like lightning from just outside the 18-yd line.
In the 2nd Half, the storm picked up intensity. 1:43, Joey to E in the box, shot – block, and Ollie is there to slam it home.
6:55: Brian places a perfect pick given Joey a clear strike to the corner of the net.
17:34, Joey corner kicks is deflected out of the box, but Jimmy is there, 25-yds out, to lace a strike through the crowd, to the corner of the net.
18:50, Bernhardt makes a great spin move on a defender to lace the ball into the net.
20:20, Bernhardt again, drills through the defenders, up the middle to slam it home.

Great defense by Patrick, Bigilin, Chris, Conor & Jimmy. Bart as always put on a show up top, as a striker. Nice job by Brian defending our goalie on a Thunder Free-Kick. Brian made sure that Lightning stings harder then Thunder. While some one played golf, the Scorpions battled the storm for the win.

The devils went down to Walker. They were looking for souls and fame to steal from the spirit of the Scorpions.
They were in a bind 'cos they have never beaten the Scorpions and were behind us as the top team in Long Island.
When they came across this team of young athletes, playing on a field and playin' it hot.
And the devils jumped upon this field and said: "Boys let me tell you what":
"I bet you didn't know it, but we’re soccer players too.
And if you'd care to take a dare, I'll make a bet with you.
Now the Scorpions play a pretty good game, but give these devils their due:
I bet a Waldbaum Cup of gold against your soul, cos I think we’re better than you."
The boys said: "Our name is the Mighty Scorpions and it might be a sin,”
"But I'll take your bet, your gonna regret, 'cos WE ARE the BEST that's ever been."
The Scorpions took the field and play the game hard, with 20 SOG.
'Cos hells broke loose in MASSAPEQUA and the devils tried to play as hard.
And if you win you get this shiny CUP made of gold. Just like last year.
But if you lose, the devils get your soul.
The devils opened up their game and said: "I'll start this show." and scored 1st.
And fire flew from their fans’ on the sideline, as their devils got stampeded as the Scorpions ran by.
And as the Scorpions made their moves pass the devils, the devils made an evil hiss.
Then a band of demons joined in from the sideline and it sounded something like – whining.
When the demons finished complaining to the Ref, the Scorpions said: "Well you're pretty good ol' son. But if you'll sit down in that chair, right there, and watch us show you how it’s done." Bang - Bernhard wins the ball away from 2 defenders and places a shot to the corner of the net, from just outside the 18-yard box.
Fire on the moun, run Scorpions, run. Brian & Ollie are on Fire.

The Game now goes into double overtime, with the Scorpions building up steam as the game goes on.
The devils bowed their heads because they knew that they’ve been beat’en with Bart in net.
The devils laid that golden cup on the ground at the Scorpions’ feet.
The Scorpions said: "Devils just come on back if you ever want to try again.
"I told you once, you son of a gun, we’ve the best that's ever been."
And the Scorpions placed fireballs into the net on PKs, run Scorpions, run.
Bart looked the devils in the their eyes and denied 2 PKs.

Paddy, Bigilin and Conor displayed an outstanding defensive presence on the field. Brian and Ollie created a huge offensive push on top. Joey, Chris, E, Bernhard and Scott contained and controlled the middle of the field. Johnny’s heart and support on the sideline provided the team spirit for his teammates. Jimmy Harris was a force greatly missed.
3/31/07: MASS BOWL: Scorpions (3) Vs the Arsenal (3)
What A GAME! Ironically, just like last year on April Fools’ Day, we tied! The event was the game of the week just like the Mets & Yankees Subway Series, drawing a huge and LOUD crowd. The battle started quickly with a lot of action coming from both teams. As always, with the talent pool from Massapequa, the games are always action packed and tough games for both teams.
13 minutes into the 1st half, Joey making his move towards the goal, is tripped up from behind. Bigilin takes the free-kick just outside the 18-yard box and drills a strike to the top of the net to tie the game. In 2nd half, the Scorpions played an outstanding game, down 2 to 1 with 5 minutes left in the game. The Scorpions stayed composed and went on the attack. Eric battled 3 defenders to win the ball just outside the 18-yard mark, to lace a strike into the net. Game tied. Scorpions stayed hot, quickly winning the ball back with 3 minutes left in the game. Joey again, making his move, gets tripped up from behind for a free-kick. On the free-kick, 30-yards out, Bigilin drills a shot to the top of net for the lead. Arsenals then come back to score with less then 2 minutes in the game. The Scorpions make a great last minute drive to try and win the game. The Ref and I talked after the game. He expressed to me how impressive the boys played during the game and that at this age how much talent they displayed.

Waldbaum Cup - Round 1: 3/24/07
The Scorpions (4) Vs DP Lawn Dawgs (1): Time to mow the lawn.
The Scorpions mowed the lawn today, with a big 1st round win over DP. The Lawn Dawgs launched a bomb with less then 2 minutes in to score. The Scorpions stayed in sync with 9 minutes in, Joey steals the ball at mid-field and lays off a pass out to Scott. The Scooter returned firepower, launching a bomb strike just out of reach of the goalie for the score. 17 minutes in, Joey launches his own strike, lacing a blast from 20 yards out to the top of the net.
15:20 into the 2nd half, E makes his move and steals the ball up the middle. E chips a shot up the middle and we are off to the races. Ollie in hot pursue, barrels through the defender to chip a shot over the goalie coming out at him for the score.
19:00, Joey all alone in the open field, rips another 25-yarder shot to the top of the net to seal the win.
Great defensive presence by Conor, Chris, Jimmy, Paddy, Joey and Brian to shut down the Dawgs. Great offensive pressure and drive by Johnny, Eric, Scott, Bernhard, Ollie, and Joey.
BART, Outstanding presence on the field with 4 saves. 3 were outstanding saves, sprinting out of goal box to deflect the shots and crashing through anyone in his way.
Oh! - and congrats to Coach Neil on his 1st professional win.

The Scorpions came out of hibernation and lit up the Superdome. During the 2nd game, the Ref ran over to me after we scored our 2nd goal. He said Coach, I have one thing to say about your team, “WOW!!!" Coach & WOW all in one day – I smiled ear to ear.
Highlights: It is always funny/interesting to me that the boys always call Mr. Healy during the seasons. Today they called me COACH! It was pretty cool and exciting, with a LITTLE pressure to maintain our winning way, but then I realized I had a lot of help. Paul told me, keep coaching to a minimum. Now I know why. The boys went and operate on autopilot once they took the field. It was like flipping a switch and watching the lights go on, power surges through them like a lighting flashing through the sky, Brilliant! My little helpers, were a staff of assistant coaches on the sideline next to me, providing a wealth of excellent constructive comments. Scotty, the Scooter, double-checked everything I did & said. My pressure when away, except for Doug, Don & John telling me, we better not lose – pressure returned. Paul, Do not believe any rumors I let the boys eat junk food or run amuck at the tournament and that was why they won. I thank Doug, Don & John, for not dumping the Gatorade bucket on me at the end of the Finals.

Goals: (1) E, assist by Paddy; (2) Johnny, assist by Flecker to Ollie in the box under pressure quickly & smartly passes it back to Johnny, who banged it home.
The biggest & most exciting play of the tournament came when Bart races out of the box, lays out his body to block a break away shot. Bart slides through the ball & knocks the player down on top of him. The ball is loose and bouncing around in the goal box. Jimmy & Brian leap over Bart & the other player to try and clear the ball. Jimmy & Brian formed a wall in front of the net to block several shots/rebounds, finally clearing the ball out. The Scorpions quickly turned it around with a goal by Johnny.
Scorpions (4) Vs Clifton Park Yellow Jackets, NY (0):
Goals: (1, 3 & 4) Bernhard – ‘hat trick’, (2) Paddy.
The ‘Shot of the day”, Paddy lacing a shot on goal and a Yellow Jacket could not get out of the way in time. Thank God the kid is OK.

Bart: 4 consecutive shutout games during a tournament, a Scorpion record. Bart had a total of 4 saves for the Tournament with unbelievable defense and support from the entire team: Danny V, Brian, Jimmy, Paddy, Ollie, Joey, Johnny, Nick, Eric & Scott.
