Wilkins Pro Am evolves, merges with Southeastern Pro Am/SEBL
June 27, 2004 --
After 15 years, the Wilkins Pro Am will merge with the SEBL to become the Southeastern Pro Am Summer League. The Southeastern Exposure Basketball League, which held the SEBL Atlanta Showcase in October of 2003, will now essentially fuse with the Wilkins Pro Am in creating a more regional program.
The Summer League regular season will run from July 10th until August 5th, with the playoffs beginning on August 7th. The Finals will conclude on August 15th in Cartersville. For the first time ever, summer league play in Cartersville will reluctantly move to a new location, as relations have withered with the Etowah Area Housing Authority and Director Johnny Massey, which owns the historical J.H. Morgan Gym on Aubrey Street. Excel Christian Academy, as it seems, will be the new location for play in Cartersville. Excel, though it seats around 500, does possess better overall facilities.
The Southeastern Pro Am will consist of an A-League and B-League. The A-League will see three divisions, with the North Division competing with 8 teams at Excel Christian Academy in Cartersville, Georgia, the Central Division with 8 teams competing in Morrow, GA at Clayton State University, and a new South Division that will host 6-8 teams in Macon, Georgia. The B-League of the Southeastern Pro Am will be comprised of a 6 team East Division and 6 team West Division, also slated to compete in Cartersville.
A-League play is scheduled to begin on July 10th, as the league will see long-time powerhouse and 2003 Defending Champs, ServPro-1, return, along with Baseline-1, the Celtics from Reinhardt College, GA Vikings from Berry College and C'villians in the North. In the Central Division, the Lakers (2003 runnerups), Metro Stars, Team Georgia, Tri-County will all return, along with a contigency of players from the WBA's Rome Gladiators, and possibly the Gladiator's Metro area rivals, the Southern Crescent Lightening. We are still waiting on word from Lightening Head Coach Litterial Green to see if they will be able to delve into the summer league so close to the ending of the WBA playoffs. Hosting the South Division, will be the Macon Blaze, who just completed its inaugural season in the WBA, a contigency of Georgia College & State University players, and possibly a squad from Robbins AFB, among others.
The B-League, which will start on July 11th, will see 2003 Champs Baseline-2 begin its Title Defense. Joining Baseline, will be other traditional entries, including the ever strong Servpro-2, the Sixers, Squad Mundane, Adairsville, Cedartown, Rockmart, Franklin Ford, Calhoun, and others...

Baseline-1 survives GA Vikings 83-66 in other North Semi-final...
August 8, 2004 --
Sunday's playoff games, originally scheduled to be played on Monday night, had to be moved back a day due to venue conflicts. The scheduling change left some teams with out key roster players.
Nevertheless, Baseline-1, with out Cliff Washington, Ray Luque and Terrence Hill survived 83-66 over a nard-nosed GA Vikings team. The Vikings, the #5 seed, were determined pull off another upset to end Baseline's perfect season. They had ended #4 seeded Dalton's season the day before. The Vikings were also with out top scoring guard Cameron Fitch, and small forward JD Pollock. The dilemna left for some interesting defensive matchups for Baseline-1, as they eventually pulled away in the second half to advance to the North Finals (League Semis) on Friday night.
The Vikings actually led much of the first half, behind Ben Elliott's 21 first half points. But, over the last 6 minutes of the first half Baseline was able to adjust, begin to limit the Vikings' offensive boards and reclaim a 40-35 lead. Bobby Brown led Baseline-1 with 11 in the first half. In the second half, Baseline found a way to shut down Elliott and begin to pull away, but Johnathan Reddell drilled a couple of threes to keep things interesting. Baseline-1 finally began to use its inside strengths, as Courtney Stanley (pictured at left) wheeled inside the lane for a dozen of his 21 total in 2nd half, and Rod Ashmore repeatedly slashed to the basket from the corners for 10 points after the intermission. Asmore finished with 19 for Baseline-1, while Brown tallied 20, Marcus Henderson 12 and Georgy Joseph 11. For the Vikings, who finished at 5-5 overall on the summer, Elliott took game-high honors with 27, while Reddell finished with 16. Anthony McClain and Jamie Palmer helped with 9 each for the Vikings.
Baseline-1, now 10-0 overall, moves on to face a re-juvenated Servpro-1 squad in the North Finals, essentiall the League's Semi-final round. The winner will represent the North Division as the #1 seed in the Final Four on Saturday and will draw the Central Division's #2 seed. The loser of the North Final will face the Central's #1 seed.

Baseline-2 Advances, Seeks "Re-Peat"
August 8, 2004 --
Baseline-2 moved into the City Conference B-League Title game, after blitzing East #1 Seed Future Entertainment 90-62 on Sunday night at the Old Cass Freshmen Complex Gym in Cartersville. Baseline-2, who ran through the 2003 field undefeated, came into the Semi-final matchup as the 2nd seed this summer, after suffering two regular season losses -- one due to forfeit, the other in a hotly contested 65-62 battle with ServPro-2. Baseline-2 did face Future Entertainment in the regular season, trouncing them by almost 50, but this time around new addition Jermaine Spivey brought a different dimension to their roster. Spivey joined Future at the player acquisition deadline and promptly led them to a regular season victory over Cedartown. In this matchup, Spivey paced his team in the first half, keeping it close, before Baseline-2 went on a run to end the first half up 45-32. Courtney Stanley and Jay Warden combined for 21 points in the first half for Baseline-2, while Spivey notched 13. Baseline-2 came out after the half and deployed a defensive scheme that seemed to allow them to gradually inch further away, turning the game into a rout. Warden finished with 22, Stanley with 15, while Georgy Joseph and Marcus Henderson each had 14, Rod Ashmore 13 and Bobby Brown 10. Future's Spivey, who plays for Albacomp in the Hungarian Pro League, took game-high honors with 24, while Chris Morgan hit 14 and Amodd Kent 11. Future Entertainment ends its season with an overall record of 8-2. Baseline-2, also 8-2 overall, will now attempt to complete a "Re-peat," as they will now face ServPro-2 in the City Conference B-League finals on Friday evening.

ServPro-2 outlasts Cedartown to set up Re-match in Finals...

ServPro-2 exacted revenge for the third straight season over Cedartown. In each of the last 3 regular seasons ServPro-2 has not shown up to play Cedartown, ultimately forfeiting the game and damaging their playoff seeding. This year, Cedartown pulled the #1 West Division seed. Both teams won their first round games, setting up the same scenario that has happened in the playoffs the last 3 seasons. The same results occured, as Cedartown could not match ServPro-2 depth, ultimately losing in the Semi-final round. ServPro-2 pulled away in this one, to claim a 69-50 win. Cedartown actually led 21-10 early on, before ServPro-2's transition game tookover. Johnny Goodman and Jamarl Bryant, who played with the WBA's Rome Gladiators this past season, each collected 14 points, while Darnel Cox and Derek Carey both downed 10 for ServPro-2. Scott Brown had a game-high 16, while Schyler Pace and Tracy Murphy each hit 11. ServPro-2 advances to the City Conference B-League Final for the 5th straight season and looks to avenge last year's Final loss to Baseline-2. The Final Game is slated for Friday evening August 13th at 7:00pm in at the Old Cass Freshmen Complex Gym in Cartersville, Georgia...

ServPro-2 & Baseline-2, the "keys" to their Summer League "Staying Power"...

It's ServPro-2 & Baseline-2, again, in the B-League Finals...
Consistency is the key to longevity in the Southeastern Summer Pro Am. Keeping rosters in tact from season to season seems to be the ingredient that produces constant top finishes in the long-standing competitve summer league.
The City Confererence B-League over the years has seen strong teams, with many great players, come and go. Franklin Ford won two B-League Titles and garnered a runners-up trophy in the late 90's, Squad Mundane who has not been very competitive lately was a strong team in the early years of the City Conference of the Pro Am, and Dalton was strong for a few years but could only manage 2nd place finishes, Cedartown has also been strong the last couple of seasons.
But, ServPro-2 and Baseline-2, are the strongest B-League teams to ever play in the Pro Am here. They have battled in the regular season and playoffs for the last few years, as well as, in exhibition games through out the year. Last summer, Baseline-2 outlasted a ServPro-2 squad that was without a few of its top players. Baseline-2 took advantage and ran away with the 2003 City Conference B-League Title.
ServPro-2's 6-3 SG Jamarl Bryant (Middle Ga College), 6-4 SF Derek Carey, 6-4 SF Jamie Reynolds, 6-0 PG Jay Nelson, 6-10 C Darnel Cox (Jr College), G John Melvin, 5-9 PG Mo Mitchell (ABAC) and 6-0 SG Wes Adams (SCAD) are all mainstays for the team that hails from Rome. Roster additions, such as 6-6 small forward Johnny Goodman, have only bolstered ServPro-2's fire-power. Likewise, Baseline-2 has mainstays in 6-5 SF Rod Ashmore (Kennesaw St.), 6-4 PF Courtney Stanley, 6-8 PF Marcus Henderson (Athens St.), SG Darrell Wilkins (Gordon Coll.), 6-5 SG Jay Warden (Ga College) and 6-7 SF Bobby Brown (Kennesaw St.), but have made a couple of key additions by adding Cliff Washington (Ark. Pine-Bluff), shooting guard Ray Luque, 6-7 forward Justin Thompson, 6-7 PF Georgy Joseph and 6-5 G Terrence Hill -- the latter four of the new additions were major contributors to Kennesaw State University's NCAA D2 National Championship this past season.
Well, the two are primed to meet again, in a repeat of the 2003 Finals, after both won in the Semi-finals Sunday evening. ServPro-2 will be trying to get the Title back, after winning it 3 years straight from 2000-2002. Baseline-2 will be looking to repeat. ServPro-2 and Baseline-2 each came into the playoffs as the #2 seed in their respective Divisions, largely because of suffering forfeits during the regular season. Cedartown and Future Entertainment were the benefactors from those forfeits, but had to answer the call in the playoffs. They could not own up to their #1 Tourney Seedings, as ServPro-2 handled Cedartown easily 69-50 and Baseline-2 throttled Future Entertainment 90-62 -- leaving, arguably, the two top teams to clash again. The Championship Game will be tip off Friday at 7:00pm. These two teams have split this summer, with Baseline-2 winning an exhibition matchup and ServPro-2 returning the favor by slipping past Baseline-2 65-62 in their regular season contest. The tone is set for a great game between two teams that have come to respect each other both on and off the basketball court.

Central Division Quarterfinal Results...

Central Division Quarterfinal Results from Wednesday night at Clayton State Univ. in Morrow, Georgia…
The Lakers were down by 5 with under minute to go, but somehow found a miracle to come back and clip the Lightening 63-59 in the end to advance to the Semi-finals. Darien Chavis darted his way to 16 to lead the Lakers, while Michael Sloan and BJ Puckett each hit 12. The Lightening, who season comes to a close, got 22 from Larry Thompson and 9 from Brian Thompson.
Team Georgia led most of the way in its 61-57 win over the Metro Stars, but it was not easy, as Metro would not go away until the final buzzer sounded. Ronald Thompson had 19, Cam Dailey 14 and Lorenzo Davis 9 for Team GA, who now moves on to battle the Lakers in the Semi-finals on Thursday night. Metro was paced by Austin Ewing with 18, Charlie Frazier with 13, Robert Lawrence hit 11 and DJ Thomason 10.
Tri County took advantage of a roster depleted Atlanta Fire team in a 76-62 win. Tri County lost handily to the Fire just last week in the regular season, but exacted revenge on this night, as Earnest Scott hit 19, John Prise 17, Ahmad Lovving 14 and Mike Crain 12. For the Fire, Mike Phenizee hit 18, Tyrell Reynolds 16, Tahaun Tuitt 15 and Omar Cumberbatch 13. Tri County now moves on to the Semi-finals to face the Rome Gladiators, who are the #1 seed in the Central Division.
The Rome Gladiators ran its win streak to 9, with a 71-59 win over the SW Tigers. The Tigers did not make it easy as they led much of the first half, but ran out of answers for Rome’s inside game and clutch 3-point shooting later in the 2nd half. Adrian Jones led the Glads with 27, while Jamal Johnson hit 18 and DeJuan Clark 11. The Tigers’ Michael Woodard drilled 30, while Gary Springer collected 10. The Glads will face Tri County on Thursday evening in the Semi-final round.

Servpro-2 Player, Wesley Adams, passes Thursday after auto accident

Southeastern Pro Am player passes away after auto accident... - Aug. 12, 2004 - by David Archer
Residents of Rome, Georgia are in mourning today, after Wesley Adams died from chest injuries sustained in an auto accident early Thursday morning. Adams, a long time member of the ServPro of Rome squad, played collegiately at Savannah College of Art & Design (SCAD) from 2000-3. Adams, while averaging 13ppg at SCAD his senior season, helped lead his team to 21-6 season, the most successful season in school history. His career high at SCAD was 25 points. He was also very instrumental in ServPro-2's Summer Pro Am success over the last 5 years, and last Sunday helped his team advance to the City Conference B-League Finals, which was scheduled to be played on this Friday night. His career high in the Summer Pro Am was 37 points. The decision not to play the City Conference B-League game has been made by both the ServPro-2 and Baseline-2 teams. In honor of Wesley, both teams will be crowned as Co-champions for the 2004 summer, and a presentation of trophies to the teams will be held on Saturday night at the A-League Finals, along with a moment of silence in memory of our fallen friend. Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time. We will miss greatly the always smiling, mild mannered Adams, who awed the Pro Am faithful often with his long range shooting and electrifying slams!

Tri County Shocks the Central Division, dominating play on Thursday night...

Central Division Semi-final Results Thursday night at Clayton State University:
The Lakers battled to a 63-59 overtime win over Team Georgia in the first Semi-final matchup. The Lakers, who miraculously pulled out a win over the Lightening on Wednesday, still had some luck in their corner. Team Georgia seemingly had the game locked up but could not convert late in regulation. In the overtime, Darien Chavis took over for the Lakers, scoring 7 of his 14 total in the extra period. Craig Butts was the only other player to reach double figures for the Lakers with 13. Team Georgia, who ends the season with an overall 6-4 record, got 17 from Mike Davis, 14 from Ronald Thompson and 11 from Joe Harris. The Lakers advanced to the Central Division Finals...
From the opening tip Tri County meant business, as they drilled three long bombs to go up 9-0 in the first minute of the game. The Gladiators, who came undefeated as the #1 Central Division seed in the tournament, was forced to battle from behind the rest of the way. Each time the Glads attempted to make a run, Tri County countered with its quickness and re-built their cushion. Down 46-33, Rome went on a run that that trimmed the score to 46-42, and seemingly had righted their difficulties. But, suddenly Tri County, in almost a dominating fashion, burst into a run that pushed their lead back out to 56-42, all but deflating a team that had found a way to win 9 straight games through the regular season and first round of the playoffs. Tri County exposed the weakness of the Glads, who were with out several key guards in Adrian Jones, DeJuan Clark and Lamar Rodgers. Tri County then went on to blow out a stunned Gladiators team. Earnest Scott led a balanced attack with 16, while Brandon Childs and John Prise each netted 15, and Marquette Northington and Mike Crain had 10 each. League MVP Candidate, Jamal Johnson, did all he could for his team with 21, while Mike Benton hit 15 and James Maye 12. The Glads season came to a close with an overall 9-1 mark, while Tri County, the #4 seed in the tourney, moved on to face the Lakers in the Central Division Final Game...
Tri County blew in on Thursday night and completed a trilogy of revenge, after again stunning a team in the playoffs that it had lost to in the regular season. In this one, as with the Rome in the Semis, Tri County jumped out early against the Lakers and essentially led the entire way, winning 77-63, behind its quickness and transition play. In a game that was really not as close as the score indicates, Mike Crain downed 23 in the win, as Brandon Childs got 19, and Earnest Scott and John Prise 11 each. The Lakers, who struggled from the field, got 15 from Sawadago Aristiole and Darien Chavis, along with 12 from Maxie Rios.
Tri County will not be able represent the Central Division in the Final Four tournament on Saturday. Therefore, the Lakers will go as the #1 Seed for the Central, facing North #2 seed ServPro-1. And, the Gladiators will replace Tri County and represent the Central Division as the #2 seed, facing North #1 Seed Baseline-1 in Saturday's Final Four matchup.

Tri County has their day, but must defer Final Four appearance to Lakers & Gladiators...

After coming on Thursday night with a mission and crushing the competition in the Central Division Semi-final and Final rounds, Tri County has informed the Southeastern Pro Am that they will not be able to put a team on the floor for the Pro Am Final Four on Saturday in Cartersville. Tri County has several players, who have had to leave to return to school or professional playing positions overseas.
Tri County Head Coach Terry Jones stated that he was extremely disappointed, but had no control over the situation. He said, "we will live happily with what we were able to accomplish in the Central Division of the Summer League, by putting it all together and finally playing as a team, and shocking the top two seeds in the division -- but, feel it more appropriate that the Lakers and Gladiators represent the division in the Final Four." He went on to say, he did not want to mis-represent his team or the league and will defer to the Gladiators team."
The Gladiators, who were undefeated on the summer, get a reprieve after dropping the shocking Central Semis to a hot Tri County team, but they must go in as the #2 seed and face the #1 seeded Baseline-1 squad from the North at 6pm Saturday evening. The Lakers will now take the #1 Central spot and tackle the defending 2003 champs, ServPro of Rome, who are the #2 seed from the North at 7pm Saturday.

Baseline-1 runs table, captures Metro A-League Crown...
August 14, 2004 --
Baseline-1 claimed its first Summer Pro Am Metro A-League Title since 1999, with a convincing 76-63 win over ServPro-1 on Saturday night in Cartersville. Baseline-1 inched out early and lead 20-9, when ServPro's Charles Burkett and Aaron Kelly drilled two 3-pointers to cut the lead to 20-15. Baseline, realizing that ServPro had scored only by way of triples through the first 10 minutes of the game, called a timeout to change defensive tactics. The remainder of the first half, Baseline held ServPro to only 12 points, with only one basket coming on a three. Baseline held a 41-27 lead at the half. In the second half, Baseline increased their lead to as much as 17, when again, ServPro went on a tri-fecta tirade, closing the score to 8. Baseline stabilized and answered with a few big 3-point baskets of their own by Ray Luque and Cliff Washington, along with a drive and bucket by Bobby Brown. Though ServPro never gave up, they never got closer than 10 down the stretch. Bobby Brown took game-high honors with 23, Georgie Joseph 16, and Ray Luque 15 to lead Baseline. Also, Rod Ashmore, Courtney Stanley and Marcus Henderson each hit 6 and Cliff Washington 4. For ServPro, Burkett finished with 21, Jamarl Bryant 15, John Williams 13, while Aaron Kelly and Unice Washington each had 6.
Baseline/Skyline Summer League History:
In 1997, Baseline finished 5th in the Summer Pro Am, then in 1998 the team won the regular season Title, going 10-0, but did not participate in the league tournament. Baseline-1 then won the 1999 Championship 83-75 in OT over the Marietta Outlaw. Then, in 2000, finished as runner-ups to, who else, but ServPro of Rome. In 2001, as the Baseline organization split into two teams, the Baseline team finished 4th. The newly organized Skyline team went on to defeat ServPro of Rome in the Finals 121-116. In 2002, Baseline finished 4th again and Skyline bowed after starting out the season 5-0, collapsed and eventually lost in the first round of the playoffs. In 2003, Baseline-1, after losing to ServPro, finished 3rd in the Metro A-League, while Baseline-2 claimed the City B-League Title going 13-0, and Skyline sat the season out. This summer of course, Baseline-1 and Baseline-2 claimed Titles, with Baseline-2 completing the "repeat." The returning Skyline team struggled in 2004, going 1-8 on the summer, with 5 of its losses being by 4 points or less. Incidentally, Skyline played Baseline-1 the closest of all opponents this summer, losing only 65-62 during a regular season matchup.

ServPro-1 & Baseline-1 advance to League Finals over Central Divsion foes... - Aug. 15, 2004 - by David Archer
The North Division served notice on Saturday evening, as Servpro-1 and Baseline-1 advanced to the League Finals with wins over both Central Division opponents. ServPro, the North #2 seed, squeeked by the Central #1 seeded Lakers team 63-62, in rematch of last year's League Final. Unice Washington lead ServPro with 20 points, while Darien Chavis downed 23 for the Lakers. The Lakers end the summer with a 9-3 overall record.
Ray Luque hit 18 and Courtney Stanley 15, as Baseline-1 breezed by a reserve-less Rome Gladiators team 78-50. Jamal Johnson, who was named League MVP, pumped in 22 for the Glads, while Quintin Hollis also hit 14. The Glads' season came to an end with a 9-2 overall record.

SEBL Set to Return for Winter Slate...
November 12, 2004 --
The Southeastern Exposure Basketball League (SEBL) is in the process of scheduling a winter slate of games, set to begin in a matter of weeks. Participating in the league will be independent teams from the Southeastern region, including the Gwinnet Gwizzlies, BaselineUSA, Rome ServPro, WBA Stars of Atlanta, Jonesboro Allstars, Canton Mustangs, Fort McPherson Military Base, and the Charlotte SBA Allstars. Team Georgia, based out of Fayetteville will also be invited to participate in the SEBL. Each team, some of which have already begun a fall schedule, will continue to play independent schedules, along with scheduled games against one another in the League. Teams will be able to carry their current records into inter-league play. The Georgia Shootout, which will also serve to crown the SEBL Champion, will be moved to a later date to be determined, in order for the participating teams to complete their winter schedules.
BaselineUSA and Fort McPherson have already squared off in contests that count towards team overall records and November 20 will see Baseline square off against the Canton Mustangs. Also, Embry Malone's Gwinnett Gwizzlies will host Baseline on December 3rd and 10th, followed by the WBA Stars on December 16th. We will keep you posted as teams set additional games.

Morrow, Georgia - The 2006 SEBL Summer Pro Am League opened play on Tuesday night at Clayton State University. Game summaries are listed below...
BC Lakers 89 OC Alumni 51... The Lakers opened the 2006 summer season against the team that upset them in the '05 playoffs. Last summer OC Alumni pulled off a huge upset over the Lakers in the opening round of the Championship Tourney, but a score was to be settled on this night. The Lakers started a little slow agains an OC Alumni squad that was slim on regular roster players, but heated up with a 15-0 run to blow open a 19-13 spread in the first half. The Lakers, behind the stellar play of Mike Sloan and Jeff Trotter took a 43-19 lead into the intermission. The Lakers continued the onslaught in the second half to complete the opening night blowout of OC. Jacob Grise scored 16 to lead OC, while Victor Wilcher scored 12 and Carter Deems had 11. For the Lakers, Sloan hit 19, while Brandon Kelley had 15, Trotter 14 and Aristiole Sawadego finished with 12.
Tri-County Crusaders 55 Gainesville Knights 52... The Crusaders fought off a late charge by the Knights to open the season on a good note. Darian Burke (6'9''-C-81, college: Colorado St.) had a field day in the middle with 19 points and 12 rebounds, while Mike Williams scored 12 and Marcus Hughes 11 for the Crusaders.
D.O.T.S. 85 Metro Stars 75... D.O.T.S. took advantage of a weary Metro Stars club to pull away in the final stages. Metro who took a 43-40 lead into the half, led for much of the game, but seemingly ran out of gas in the latter minutes. D.O.T.S. and Ernest Scott (6'7''-F-82) seized the opportunity and bounced back to take the lead. Scott led the winners with 24 points while Ken Farley downed 15. Terico Smothers (6'4''-G) led Metro with 23 points, while Terrence Woodyard (6'9''-F/G) of Anderson Heat (6'9''-F/G, college: W.Carolina) collected 17.
Atlanta Speedboys 57 BC Clayton Vets 55... The Speedboys debuted in the SEBL Summer League with a hard-fought victory over the Clayton Vets. After taking a 31-24 lead into the half, the Speedboys continued to keep a comfortable spread for much of the second half, but relaxed long enough to allow the Vets to climb back in the game late. Mark Davis got a big bucket with 30 seconds left to put his team up by three, then fed a pass to a wide open Ramel Wright under the basket to put the Speedboys up by five. But, Clayton got a huge three from T. Boss cut the score to 57-55 with only 3 seconds left on the clock. A quick foul put Atlanta on the freethrow line. C.Williams missed the front-end of the one and one, but the ball fell loose and Clayton could not grab it in time to call a timeout.

Knicks-2 102 BC Howren 83... The Knicks-2 had two big runs to end each half of the game that spelled doom for BC Howren. The Knicks were clinging to a 33-31 lead with 3:20 remaining in the opening half, when James Jackson and Travis Floyd sparked a 15-5 run to take a 12-point lead into the intermission. BC Howren came back in the second behind the 3-point shooting of Robert Cleveland, Mike Howren and Junior Gonzales. The trio combined for eight treys in a stretch that saw BC Howren trim the Knicks lead down to 75-71 with 5:10 remaining. But, the Knicks heated up again as the father and son tandem of Eddie Lee Wilkins and O'Brian Wilkins collectively drained seven tri-fectas down the stretch to run away from BC Howren. Robert Cleveland turned in a big effort for BC Howren finishing with 21 points, while Gonzales had 16, Howren 14. Carter Deems also finished with 13 for BC Howren. For the Knicks-2, Jonathan Johnson pounded in 21, while Jackson got 20, O.Wilkins 15, Travis Floyd 14, E.Wilkins 13 and Byron Henderson 10.
Future Entertainment 79 Cedartown 68... Future got balanced scoring in a hard-fought win over Cedartown. The lead see-sawed in the first half, before Future went on a 8-2 run to close the half. Demond Bryan had eight in the first half to lead Future, while Brian Stevenson (6'1''-G, college: Jacksonville St.) had six. Quan Martin helpd keep things close for Cedartown by notching 11 first half points. In the second half, Cedartown made a run to knot the score at 44. Ivy Boozer and Tracy Murphy each contributed four points in the spurt for Cedartown. But, Future got an infusion of offense from Darrell Wilkins (6'1''-G), who did not play in the first half. Wilkins came off the bench to score 10 points after the mid-point of the second half. Cedric Ward (5'9''-G) also hit a couple of huge buckets to help Future put Cedartown away in the latter stages. For Cedartown, Martin finished with 18, as Price got 13, Boozer 12 and Nick Diamond collected 10. Ward's 15 led a contigency of six Future players with double-figures. Chris Morgan notched 14, as Stevenson had 11, to go along with Michael Linley, Wayne Henderson and Wilkins, who each netted 10.
Summer Hill Blue Devils 99 Polk County 74... The Summer Hill debuted in fine fashion as they jumped on Polk County early and built a 30-point cushion at 56-26 right before intermission. Mike Reynolds and Latrail Moore paced the Blue Devil offense in the first half as they scored 12 and nine, respectively. Polk's Naj Smith tallied 14 first half points to lead his team. Behind a furious 3-point barrage to begin the seconf half, Polk made things interesting as they trimmed the score to 60-44. Smith and Lamar Hudson provided the spark for Polk. But, the Blue Devils' Monterio Fezzia hustled his way to six consecutive points to push the lead back to 20, closing the door on Polk's comeback plans. Smith took game-high scoring honors with 31 for Polk while D'andre Blackmon hit 12, Cedric Clark 11 and Hudson 10. For Summer Hill, Rod Ashmore worked his way to 24, while Moore finished with 16, Fezzai 15, Reynolds 12, Darrel Jones 10 and Reggie King nine.
ServPro-2 82 Team Croft 80... In the night cap, the 2005 defending champs had all they could handle with Team Croft, as they had to come from behind in the waning seconds to claim victory. Servpro-2 held a slim margin most of the first half, before going on a late surge to take a 55-44 lead into the break. But, Team Croft came back behind the long-range shooting of Jeff Croft and Emmanual Holloway. Holloway drilled a trey at the 7:30 mark to give Team Croft a 67-66 lead -- its first since early in the game. After trading buckets and leads, Croft hit consecutive bombs and Servpro-2 was suddenly down 75-71. Ronnie Donaldson got open for another three and suddenly Team Croft was up 78-71. But, ServPro bounced back with four straight, after Derrick Carey made two nifty buckets in the paint. Team Croft answered with a tip-in by Scott Windom to take an 80-75 lead with only 1:53 left in the game. Servpro's Shan Finley nailed a huge 3-pointer to trim it to two. Then, ServPro's defense put the clamps down, as they came up with two blocks to thwart Team Croft. ServPro then answered on consecutive possessions, as Carey got a tip in and Finley got a runner to drop. Team Croft missed an attempt to tie and ServPro ran out the final 14 seconds to take the win. Croft paced Team Croft with 19, while Windom had 18, Holloway 17 and Donaldson 10. For ServPro-2, Shan Finley downed 23, while Carey finished with 10, Jay Nelson (5'9''-G) nine and Mikaiel Carter nine.

ServPro-1 81 Baseline-1 65... ServPro broke open a close game to pull out to a 41-29 lead at the half. Baseline had trouble finding an offensive rythm, while ServPro was repeatedly going strong to the cup. After ServPro pushed their lead to as many as 18 in the second half, Baseline made a run to trim the deficit down to two. Chris Jones had an opportunity to tie on a drive down the lane but could not get it to drop. ServPro answered with four straight buckets to bury Baseline. Rod Ashmore (6'5''-F/G) of Cartersville Warriors with 13, Jones had 12, and Joseph Montgomery (6'1''-G-79) of Cartersville Baseline scored 10. For ServPro-1, John Smith netted 24, Darnell Cox had 17 and Shan Finley downed 16.
BC Knicks-1 68 Interactive Sports 46... BC Knicks used a balanced, attacking style of play to thwart Interactive's ability to score. The Knicks led 27-22 at the half, but increased its spead during the second half. Derrick Lyons (6'4''-G-78) led Interactive with 13 points. The Knicks were fueled by John Johnson's 15, while Ricky James notched 14.
Cartersville Warriors 76 C'villians 55... The Warriors gradually wore down the smaller C'villians and pulled away in the second half. The Warriors led 34-26 at the half. Mike Linley's four 3-pointers helped the C'villians stay close for the first few minutes of the second half, but the Warriors began to pull away behind the scoring of Lamar Karim (5'11''-G-83, agency: BeSeenHoop.com, college: So.Polytechnic St.) and Joe Hamilton. Linley finished with 14, while Junior Gonzalez and Lamar Hudson (6'0''-G) each got 12 for the C'villians. For the Warriors, Hamilton led the way with 25, Karim drilled 17 and Latece Williams (6'8''-F-79) dropped 11.
BC GA Vikings 72 BC Force 65... The Vikings created a slim spread in the opening half by trading threes for twos with the Force. The Vikings had a combined six threes and 10 total baskets, as the Force dropped 15 field goals in the half but still trailed 34-30 at the intermission. The Force fell down by double-digits in the second half, but came back to make it interesting with a late run. Several missed layups by Force players were followed by Vikings makes to thwart the come back attempt. Chris Morgan led the Force with 21, while Darrell Wilkins (6'1''-G) and Brian Stevenson each hit 16. For the Vikings, Tramaine Aaron and Jess Mullins each hit 17, Jake Darling scored 11 and Ben Elliott had eight.

ServPro-2 74 Summer Hill Blue Devils 73... ServPro got down by double-digits, but took advantage of Blue Devil miscues down the stretch to come roaring from behind to squeek out a win again to start the season at 2-0. Summer Hill led 44-35 at the half and increased its lead to as many as 12 in the second half, before Shan Finley took over scoring 19 in the second half alone. Summer Hill's Rod Ashmore was tossed from the game at the mid-way point of the second stanza after questioning a call, subsequently hurting the Blue Devil's offensive capabilities. Darrell Jones and Monterio Fezzia tried to keep pace for Summer Hill, scoring big buckets late to keep the lead. Servpro took charge with Finley giving his team a three point lead at 74-71, but Fezzia hit a bucket to trim it to one with 19 seconds left. Servpro turned it over and Mike Reynolds missed a shot with eight seconds left. A Blue Devil offensive rebound and subsequent shot by Reynolds missed the mark again. Summer Hill's Chris Brown grabbed the loose ball in the corner and with his back facing the basket threw the ball over his shoulder. The ball bounced just shy as the buzzer sounded, narrowly missing what would have been a miraculous winner. ServPro-2 moves to 2-0, while Summer Hill slips to 1-1 early in the season.
Future Entertainment 77 BC Howren 67 (OT)... Future Entertainment moved to 2-0 after clinging to a lead the entire game, with BC Howren never too far behind. BC Howren was able to come back to force overtime. But, Future held BC Howren scoreless in the OT to pull out the win. BC Howren, despite 16 points from Jason Ritchie, 15 from Junior Gonzales and 14 from Carter Deems (Oxford College), dropped to 0-2 on the season. Gibbons finished with 17 for Future, while Brian Stevenson had 14, Mike Linely (Tallahassee JC) and Cedric Ward (Reihardt College) both hit 13 and Wayne Henderson had 12.
BC Knicks-2 69 Cedartown 59... The Knicks moved to 2-0 with a convincing win over a tough Cedartown team. Cedartown kept things close as Kendrick Sewell had nine points in the first half. But, a late first half run allowed the well-conditioned Knicks build a 37-25 at the break. The Knicks staved off several Cedartown runs and eventually wore them down to push the lead back to double-digits. Cedartown did manage to cut the score down to four several times, but could not get over the hump. Travis Floyd (Atlanta Metro) led the Knicks with 13, while John Johnson (South Georgia Tech) had 12. For Cedartown, who fell to 0-2, Weston Price and Cory Guardhigh each had 10 points.
Team Croft 88 Polk County 85 (OT)... Team Croft got off to a good start, but slowed down in the first half as Polk opened up their transition game to take a 39-31 lead into the half. Polk built its lead to as many as 18 in the second half. But, the talented Team Croft bunch began cranking things up, making a methodical climb back in the game over the last six minutes of the game. Chris Morgan's trey bomb with two seconds left finally knotted the score at 80, forcing overtime. Polk opened the OT with a three by James Smith, but Team Croft got a couple of freethrows and a huge bucket in the paint by Jeff Croft to put them back up by one, 84-83. Several misses by Polk, put them in a position to foul in the final seconds. Croft went to the line on consecutive trips and sank two of four. Then, Cedartown's Ray Lynch nailed a long trey, trimming the lead to 86-85. But, Scott Windom iced the game for Team Croft with two clutch freethrows. Team Croft moved to 1-1, while Polk dropped to 0-2 on the season. Smith finished with 25 for Polk, while Naji Smith had 24 and Lynch had 17. For Team Croft, Chris Morgan (Wallace State) downed 29 while Emmanual Holloway (Mercer) hit 23, Croft (Shorter College) had 16 and Windom 12.

SEBL Summer Pro Am action for Sunday July 16 at JH Morgan Gym in Cartersville, Georgia...
Knicks-1 64 ServPro-1 63... ServPro may have under-estimated the youthful Knicks squad and it was a mistake. Though they got down by as many as nine in the first half, the Knicks' helter-skelter quickness allowed the to scrap their way back in the game. ServPro led through out but did not put the Knicks away, allowing them to hang around until the end. The Knicks were able to knot the score at 63 on a lay-in by James Jackson with 16 seconds left. ServPro could not answer and the Knicks' Byron Henderson drove down the lane as time ticked away. He was fouled as the buzzer sounded. With no time remaining on the clock, Henderson calmly stepped to the line and iced the victory on the first freethrow attempt. ServPro-1 who slipped to 1-1, was led by Shan Finley's 22 points, while Darnel Cox had 13. For the Knicks, who stand alone a top the A-League North standings at 2-0, Travis Floyd (5-9 PG Trevecca Nazarene) downed 23, as Henderson finished with 13 and Jackson 12.
Interactive Sports 66 BC C'villians 59... The "new-look" Interactive Sports squad -who dropped the Marietta Storm name - also played a new aggressive style of game, jumping out on the C'villians early and never relinquished its lead. The Blankson brothers gave Interactive the size and power to hold off a late run by the C'villians. Mike Reynolds paced the C'villians (0-2) with 19, while Antone Anderson hit 14. Odartey Blankson (6'7''-F/G-82, agency: Interperformances, college: UNLV) downed 26, while Ryan Blankson (6'6''-F-80) scored 16. Jason Redmond (6-0 PG Georgia SW) also chipped in with 10 points for Interactive who moved to 1-1 on the season.
Baseline-1 95 BC Vikings 91... Despite a slow start and a 40-point outburst by the Vikings' Cameron Fitch, Baseline was able to bounce back from an opening day loss to move to 1-1. The Vikings, a collection of current and former players from Berry College (Rome, Ga), led by as many as 35-21 in the first half. But, Baseline's Chris Jones (6-5 SF Reinhardt College) and Rod Ashmore (6'5''-F/G) combined for 13 points during a 20-4 run that saw them race back to take a 41-39 lead. But, an unstoppable Fitch connected on six consecutive points to close the half putting his team up 45-43 going into the break. The lead changed hands numerous times in the second half. Jake Darling and Fitch sparked a surge putting the Vikings up 83-75 with 5:10 remaining. But, Anthony Slater (5'9''-G-79) heated up to score four consective buckets, followed by a Joseph Montgomery trey, capping an 11-0 spurt as Baseline darted back into the lead. The Vikings came back with buckets from Fitch and Jess Mullens to reclaim the lead. But, Slater answered again, along with another lay-in by Ashmore. The Vikings got another bucket to make it 93-91 with six seconds left, then fouled Montgomery on the inbounds. Montgomery sank the two shots at the charity stripe to ice the win for Baseline. To go along with Fitch's offensive antics, Darling got 14, Ben Elliott 12 and Mullens 10. For Baseline, Ashmore downed 30, Jones 23, Montgomery 20 and Slater scored all of his 18 points in the second half.
BC Force 77 Warrirors 67... The Force took advantage of a roster-depleted Warriors squad, as they iced the game late at the freethrow line. The Warriors led for much of the first half and by as many as eight behind the early shooting of Mike Linley and Dee Henderson, who combined for 19 first half points. But, towards the end of the half, the Force caugt up, taking a 33-31 lead into the intermission. In the second half, The Force were able to cling to a slim margin. The Warriors came back to take a brief 62-60 lead, but could not keep pace down the stretch, as The Force got big buckets from Darrell Wilkins (6'1''-G) and Dexter Shaw. With the Warriors forced to foul, the Force responded by going 9 of 11 to increase its lead in the final minute. For the Warriors, who were with out Latece Willams, Lamar Karim and two other key players, Joe Hamilton led the way with 23 points, while Linley hit 16, Bobby Rouse (6'5''-G/F-76) 15 and Dee Henderson 12. Wilkins hit 21 for the Force, while Dexter Shaw had 19, and Chris Morgan 12. Both teams moved to 1-1 on the season.

Primetime making early statement, Lady Devils notch win, SerpPro-2 edges out another close one...

SEBL Summer Pro Am results for Monday July 17, 2006 at JH Morgan Gym in Cartersville...
ServPro-2 67 Future Entertainment 64... This matchup has been a hot rivalry for the past three summers and tonight proved to be no different as the two teams battled to the end. Shan Finley got things rolling early as he scored six early points to help SerPro build a 22-14 lead. But, Future's defensive intensity sparked a run, as Wayne Henderson dropped a couple of buckets in the paint and Demetrius Gibbons canned two jumpers. Brian Stevenson and Darrell Wilkins nailed three pointers to cap Future's run to take a 29-28 lead at the mid-way point. The two squads traded buckets in the opening minutes of the second half. Future generated a couple of baskets to get out to a five point lead at 39-34, but ServPro-2 again countered to march back and re-claim the lead. Behind Derrick Carey's inside presence ServPro-2 thought they had pulled away for good several times, but Future would not go away. Mike Reynolds who just joined the team on this night would nail three tri-fectas in the second half and Henderson went to work inside with a couple of touches as Future cut it to 66-64 with only 12 seconds left. ServPro went up three after Darnel Cox was fouled and hit the first freethrow. He missed the second and Future called a timeout to advance the ball to half-court. The inbounds pass went to the hot-handed Reynolds, who dribbled left and launched a three at the buzzer. The shot was just off and ServPro captured another thriller. Henderson led Future Entertainment (2-1) with 17 points, while Reynolds had 14, Gibbons 11, Wilkins 10 and Stevenson 10. For ServPro-2 (3-0), who have won its three games by a combined six points, Carey and Finley each hit 16 and Cox got 14.
Prime Time 57 Team Select 31... Ariel Anderson downed 23 points and Shannon Williams had 18 to lead PT to its second win to open the inaugural WSEBL season. Prime Time led 21-14 at the half, but gradually pulled away from the weary Select squad after the intermission. Timolyn Dudley also notched eight in the win, along with Portia Harris' five, Hannah Hibbard got six and Racquel McGee three. For Team Select, who fell to 0-2, Mensha Wilkins hit 22, Tanesha Foxworth four and Brandy Henderson four.
Lady Devils 43 Lady Ballers 34... The Lady Devils got balanced scoring as they bounced back from their opening day loss on Sunday. The Lady Ballers led by eight late in the first half, but the Devils closed on a 5-0 run to trail only 23-21 at the break. The Ballers could not must enough offense to keep pace, as Daniel Edwards and Jasmine Wilson combined for 12 second half points to propel the Lady Devils. Demetria Almond paced the Lady Ballers (0-2) with 18 points, while Tiesha Jackson got nine, Ashley Pickney three and two each from Shagera Irwin and Shirley Maxwell. The Lady Ballers (1-1) got 10 each from Melissa Bunce-Winters and Wilson, while Edwards finished with eight, Hart Harrison five, Kimmie Turner four, Dana Green three and Kendra Turner one.

Lakers, Speedboys continue to roll in Metro South Division....

SEBL Summer Pro Am Metro Conference South Division results for Tuesday July 18, 2006 at Clayton State in Morrow, Georgia...
BC Lakers 85 D.O.T.S. 72... The Lakers had five players in double-figures en route to a convincing win over DOTS. Cedrik Kalumbo and Brian Kelley combined for 20 first half points to lead the Lakers to a 44-34 cushion at the break. DOTS tried to make a second half run behind Ernest Scott (6'7''-F-82) three point shooting and Kitwana Rhymer (6'10''-C-78, college: Massachusetts) pounding the middle. But, the Lakers were to balanced and too deep on this night, with Todd McLaurin and Mike Sloan picking up the slack in the second half, combining for 23 points when it most mattered. For DOTS (1-2), who would boast one of the strongest rosters if they could have everyone on the same night, Scott finished with 21, Kenyatta Farley had 17 and Rhymer dumped in 15. For the Lakers (3-0), who have proven to be the early front-runners in the SEBL Metro Conference, McLaurin paced with 20, Sloan 16, Kelly 14 and Kalumbo 12 and Aristiole Sawadego had 10.
Atlanta Speedboys 89 Gainesville Knights 75... The Speedboys moved to 3-0, with an impressive win over the Knights, who fell to 0-3. The game was interesting for the first eight minutes, until the Speedboys began to take care of business by taking advantage of a Knights team with no post players on this night. The Speedboys pounded the middle as Marcus Byams and Martez Horne combined for 20 first half points to take a 45-27 advantage into the intermission. The Speedboys continued to push to the middle in the second half scoring repeatedly, but the Knights stepped it up a notch valiantly trying to come back. They were able to cut the score to six on two occasions, but the Speedboys' LaRoche Jackson went on a dunking exhibition to open the offense back up. The Speedboys rode the wave to victory to remain undefeated on the season. Anothony Brown had 29 to lead the Knights, while Darian Floyd hit 17 and Gilbert Wilson 14. For the Speedboys, Keith Payne had 22, Horne finished with 20, Byams 17, Jackson 17 and Romel Wright had 13.
BC Clayton Vets 74 Tri-County Crusaders 66... BC Clayton raced out early in the game as Tri-County stuggled to find the hole for the second straight game. The Crusaders were down 15 in the first half before a mini-run allowe them to trim the deficit to 31-23 going into the half. Again BC Clayton pushed their lead out in the initial minutes of the second half, forcing the Crusaders to play catch-up. Clayton led 58-38 at one point, when Tri-County began to click as Matt Mitchell went on a 3-point barrage. Mitchell sank six threes in the second half and helped the Crusaders fly back to cut the lead down to 68-64 in the final minute of the game. But, it was a little too late as Clayton's Calvin Goss and Corey Cameron combined to go 5 of 6 at the line in the waning seconds to ice the win. Mike Williams and Mitchell had 25 and 24 points, respectively for the Crusaders (1-2). For the Vets (2-1), Jamal Johnson (6'7''-C-81) of Alges / Tecnitema (POR) tallied 22, while Goss had 17, Cameron 12 and Jordan Windisch 10.
OC Alum 87 Metro Stars 66 (exhibition)... Luckily for the Metro Stars, this game was ruled a forfeit win for them before the game began. Because of a scheduling confusion, OC did not have enough players to begin the game. The game was played as an exhibition, with OC thoroughly blasting the Stars. Mike Sloan exploded to shoot an amazing 13 of 16 from beyond the three point arc on his way to 52 points for the game. Metro could do nothing to sway Sloan' "zone," as he repeatedly drilled treys with defenders flying at him. He canned 11 in the first half, recording 39 first half points, to lead OC to a 53-31 half time spread. Metro would only get as close as 12 in the second half. Terico Smothers (6'4''-G) and Terrence Woodyard (6'9''-F/G) each had 18 for Metro (1-2), while Nate Bellamy got 12 and Hakeen Hickman 11. To go along with Sloan's outburst, Jay Dobbs had 12 and Sean DeSouza scored 10 for OC (1-2).

Baseline blows past Force, ServPro-1 drops 2nd straight...

SEBL Summer Pro Am Metro Conference A-league results for Saturday July 22 @ JH Morgan Gym in Cartersville, Georgia:
Interactive Sports 76 BC Vikings... Odartey Blankson (6'7''-F/G-82) of CoopSette Rimini (ITA) battled his way to 36 points to help Interactive take a tough-fought win over BC Vikings. Interactive had a 38-33 lead at the half, but was in for a war in the second half with the always tough Vikings. The lead changed repeatedly through out the second half, with each team being able to work their way to five point spreads. Each time the other team would fight back. Kirk Feinswog and Jon Reddell both caught fire for the Vikings, hitting three three-pointers each, to keep their team in the thick of it. But, Blankson was too good down the stretch and he got help from his brother Ryan Blankson (6'6''-F-80, agency: Interperformances, college: Loyola, IL) and Kellen Kellen Miliner (6'3''-G-83), who each got huge buckets in the waning minutes. Feinswog led the Vikings with 22, while Cam Fitch hit 20, Jess Mullins 19 and Reddell 14. For Interactive, who moved to 2-1 on the summer, Odarty got help from Ryan and Milliner who both tallied 15 points.
BC Warriors 93 ServPro-1 86... The Warriors upped it record to 2-1 after overcoming a 15 point deficit in the second half. Servpro-1, who took a 42-39 lead into the half, after being down by as many as eight in the first stanza, came out on fire to begin the second. Mike McGowan and Mike Dean (6'2''-G-82) helped ServPro-2 open the half on a 17-5 run to build a 59-44 lead. But the Warriors gradually fought back behind the steady scoring of Lamar Karim (5'11''-G-83) and Joe Hamilton. Still down by four with 6:50 remaining, the Warriors inserted AJ Mastin for his first minutes of the second half. Mastin promptly drilled two treys to give the Warriors it first lead in quite a while. Hamilton later sank a long three as the Warriors went up by five. Down the stretch, Karim hit a 12-foot jumper on the right side of the lane, then got free under the basket for a reverse layin, as ServPro saw its chances begin to wither away. Karim then took the ball in his own hands during the final 30 seconds, drawing fouls from ServPro. He went four of four at the line to ice the win. ServPro-1, who slipped to an uncharacteristic under .500 1-2, was led by the always great Mike Dean (6'2''-G-82) of Cartersville Warriors. Dean, who just returned from playing in the Dominican Republic, downed 30 points, while Darnel Cox got 13 and Ryan Madrey 10. McGowan finished with nine. For the Warriors, Hamilton notched 24, Karim 22, Rodney Kirtz 21, Mastin 11 and Kenny Saunders seven.
Knicks-1 73 C'villians 68 (OT)... The Knicks continue to show they are for real this summer, despite their youthfulness. By far the smallest but best defensive squad in the SEBL this summer, the Knicks pulled out a hard-fought win in overtime to move to 3-0 in the SEBL Metro North Division -- alone in first. The C'villians, who led for a large portion of the game let the Knicks work their way to a 36-32 lead at the half. But, the two teams fought to the wire, with the C'villians missing on several chances at the end of regulation to ice the win. Up 67-65 with only 30 seconds left, Jonathan Small drew a foul and missed the front end of the one and one. After a Knicks miss, Tyrone McMath then missed another one one opportunity for the C'villians. The Knicks' Travis Floyd drove the lane hitting a layup with only 14 seconds left to knot the score at 67. The C'villians Tyrone McMath brought the ball across half-court and ran the clock down to seven before driving the lane and kicking to a wide open Derrick Allen, who launched a three pointer with five seconds left that was just long. With the C'villians in the bonus it was somewhat puzzling that Allen did not drive an open right baseline. The Knicks pulled the rebound, but did not have time to get a good shot off before time expired, sending the game to OT. In the OT, the Knicks won the tip and immediately went inside to Jon Johnson, who drew a foul. Johnson sank both freethrows to give the Knicks all it needed to hang on. The C'villians could not drop a shot and were forced to foul the rest of the way. Floyd did the damage going four of four from the line for the Knicks. Small led the C'villians with 16, whle Antone Anderson hit 15, Hudson 11 and Allen 10. For the Kicks, James "Duece" Jackson downed 23, Floyd 16, Johnson 11 and Eddie Lee Wilkins collected nine.
Baseline 127 BC Force 70... Baseline bolted to a 13-0 lead to open the game. The Force finally got going behind Ivan Jones who scored his team's first eight points, including two treys. The Force raced back to trim the score to 16-13. But, that was as close as they would get. Baseline would move to a man-defense that agitated the Force player's clean looks at the basket. Baseline converted rebounds into quick transition and built a 26 point lead by the half, at 59-33. Newcomers Jay Nelson and Ricky Garrett came off the bench to combine for 29 in the Baseline spurt. In the second half, Joseph Montgomery (6'1''-G-79) heated up from the outside, nailing seven threes enroute to a game-high 34 points. The Force's Darrell Wilkins (6'1''-G) was the bright spot for a Force team who could not get things going after intermission. Wilkins downed 13 second half points and had 19 for the game. For the Force, who fell to 1-2, Chris Morgan got 18, Jones finished with 16 and Desi Bryant 14. For Baseline, Rod Ashmore (6'5''-F/G) of Cartersville Warriors aided Montgomery with 29 points, while Garrett finished with 20, Chris Jones 15, Marcus Henderson 11 and Nelson 10.

SEBL City Conference B-League scores for Sat. 7/22/06 @ JH Morgan in Cartersville, GA:
Team Croft 114 Cedartown 60... Team Croft used a huge 70-point second half outburst to demoralize a short-handed Cedartown squad. Cedartown played tough in the first half, until TC closed with a run to take a 44-34 lead into the break. But, Cedartown ran out of gas and Team Croft fuel up and raced away. Chris Morgan poured in 30 points, while Scott Windom had 29, Emmanual Holloway hit 27 and Jeff Croft 26. Mike Tobin chipped in with two for TC, while Quentin Kent remained scoreless but did an admirable job of handling the ball at the point spot. For Cedartown, who fell to 0-4, Weston Price continues to be a bright spot as he downed 22 points. Tracy Murphy hit 18, while Kendrick Sewell and Coco Montgomery each had eight.
ServPro-2 58 BC Knicks-2 51... ServPro-2 showed just why they are the front-runners every summer. In the battle of the two Division leading teams, hey came out strong against the only other undefeated team in the Knicks-2. ServPro held the Knicks to only 16 first half points and took a 29-16 lead into the locker room. The Knicks fought back to cut the score to four in the latter stages but ServPro-2 would let them no closer, hangin on to improve 4-0 -- and remain as the only undefeated team in the City Conference. James Jackson and Jon Johnson each got 13 for the now 3-1 Knicks-2. For ServPro-2, Ricky Garrett got 11, while Jamie Reynolds and Makaiel Carter each netted eight and Jay Nelson and Derek Carey both contributed seven to the winning team's balanced performance.
Future Entertainment 77 Polk County 74... Future Entertainment moved into a tie for first place as they were able to hang on against a tough Polk County squad that is much better than their 0-4 record indicates. Future Entertainment (3-1) took a 37-27 lead at the half, but Polk fought back behind the scoring of Nagi Smith, Corey Gardhigh and the team-hopping Quan Martin. Gardhigh and Martin each moved over from the Cedartown squad. Martin also logged a game early-on with Team Croft, but has finally found a home in which he can not make another move. Nevertheless, the trio pushed Future to the brink, but Mike Linley and long time summer league star Lamar Hudson drained clutch threes down the stretch to keep Polk at just enough distance to hold on. Smith hit 26 for Polk, as Gardhigh and Martin had 19 and 18, respectively. For Future Ent., Brian Stevenson got 15, Hudson 14, Mike Reynolds 12, Linley 13 and Wayne Henderson 10. Ced Ward and Demond Bryan rounded out the scoring for Future with seven and six, respectively.
BC Howren 69 Summer Hill Blue Devils 59... With a revamped roster BC Howren looked like a contender against a normally solid Blue Devils team. The Blue Devils jumped out to an early eight point lead, but BC Howren's Jason Ritchie and Desi Bryant teamed to bring them back to take a 29-26 lead by half time. Summer Hill's Rod Ashmore did all he could do in the second half, but his teammates lost their composure down the stretch, making rookie-like mistakes both physically and mentally, choosing to not work together as a team and failing to defend the transition. BC Howren, who moved to 1-3, got 19 from Ritchie, 11 from Bryant and 10 from Mike Howren. For Summer Hill, who dropped to 2-2, Ashmore chalked up 32 points, while Latrail Moore had nine and Darrell Jones hit eight.

Vikings surprise ServPro-1, Knicks stay on top, Baseline & Interactive each win 3rd straight...

BC Vikings 92 ServPro-1 82... ServPro-1 was clinging to a slim 42-41 lead at the half, trying desparately to get back on the winning track after dropping two straight games. The Vikings perimeter, fast-paced style of play began to control the game in the second half. ServPro-1, traditionally a well-conditioned team, seemed to be out of sink offensively and began to unravel down the stretch. Jon Redell and Jess Mullins each sank long threes to help the Vikings begin to pull away with under three minutes left. Mike Dean got free for a couple of layins to keep ServPro with in striking distance, but the Vikings were too strong offensivel on this day. Dean's 24 points led ServPro, who has now dropped three-straight after an opening day win. Shan Finley also had 21, Brandon Byers 12, Darnel Cox 11 and Tim Garrett six. For the Vikings who upped its record to 2-2, Ben Elliott sank 29, Cam Fitch 24, Mullins 20 and Reddell finished with nine.
Baseline 87 C'villians 80... What a difference a day makes. On Saturday, Baseline rang up 127 and could do no wrong, dropping a plethora of treys and finishing transition beautifully all night. They found themselves in an all out war against the C'villians, who were knocking down shots and playing a more aggressive style of defense. Baseline trailed by as many as eight in the first half and came back to trail 38-37 at the half. In the second, the C'villians worked its lead back out to nine at one juncture after two big buckets by Jonathan Small and a couple of threes by Lamar Hudson. But, Rod Ashmore cranked up his offense and Chris Jones, despite an injured elbow, followed suit as Baseline roared back to take the lead, eventually building its own nine point cushion with a little over three minutes to go. Small hit a three to cut the score to 84-78 with under a minute left. But, Joe Montgomery got free under the basket and sank a reverse lay-in, drew the foul and calmly sank the freethrow to seal the win for Baseline. The C'villians, slipped to 0-4, but are a very competitive team who has to be reckoned with night in and night out. Derrick Allen, a 6'4" SG from Clark-Atlanta University, led the C'villians with 24 points, while Hudson finished with 17, Small 15, Antone' Anderson scored 14 and Reggie King came off the bench to score 10. For Baseline, who has run off three straight after an opening night loss, Ashmore put up another great effort with 29, while Jones hit 18, Montgomery 16 and Gathan White eight. Marcus Henderson and Anthony Slater each had seven.
Knicks-1 86 BC Force 80... The Force missed a golden opportunity to "save face" and knock off the only undefeated team in the Metro North Division, but they could not execute in the end. After losing badly to Baseline the night before, the Force came out like a new team, knocking down open shots and playing a more active brand of defense -- forcing the Knicks to take tough shots. The Force led by as many as ten in the first half and held a 41-35 advantage at the half. Their success continued into the second frame, even building a 12 point lead at one point. But, the Knicks began to chip away as the Force could not continue its pace. Finally taking a lead with about 2:45 remaining, the Knicks would go 8 of 9 from the line in the final minute. For the Force, Ivan Jones paced the offense with 19, Darrell Wilkins notched 16, Brian Stevenson 13 and Desi Bryant 12. Travis Floyd knocked down 26, while Lance James had 18 and Jon Johnson eight. Also, James Jackson and Tebarry Strickland each accounted for seven, as the Knicks remain on top at 4-0 on the season.
Interactive 82 BC Warriors 80 (OT)... Interactive added a key piece to its puzzle when they added 6'11" Sly Morgan to the roster. It paid off in the end as Morgan's shot-blocking and shot-changing efforts thwarted the Warriors attempts late in regulation and into the ot-period. The Warriors ran out to a 19-8 lead through the first five minutes, but Interactive adjusted and worked its way back into the game. The Warriors managed to hang on to a 37-35 lead at the half. In the second, the Warriors led much of the way, but could never pull away, as Interactive's Odarty Blankson continuously kept Warrior defenders on their heels with his dribble-drive penetration and long-range shooting. Mike Linley scored eight consecutive points as the Warriors built a 67-60 lead with 4:40 left, but several key stops by a stiffening Interactive defensive interior, led by Morgan, caused the Warriors to take tough shots. Still, the Warriors had chances to ice the game late, but Lamar Karim and Joe Hamilton each missed free throws with under a minute remaining that would have virtually put Interactive away. However, down 76-73 with 14 seconds left Interactive's Blankson dribble the clock down to eight seconds and drove left, finding Jason Redmond deep in the left corner. Redmond nailed the three to tie with only 4.4 left on the clock. The Warriors called time, advancing the ball to half-court. On the inbounds, Karim caught and dribbled to his left once and lofted an 18 footer with two defenders flying at him. The shot was off, sending the game to OT. In the OT, the Warriors broke down, taking several ill-advised, off-balanced jumpers and Interactive took advantage. Blankson's three pointer with 1:06 left proved to be the back breaker, as Interactive outscored the Warriors 6-4 in the OT period. The Warriors (2-2), got 29 from Joe Hamilton, 12 from Bobby Rouse, while Lamar Karim was held to 11. Bobby Brown, fresh home from the Dominican Republic, scored 10 and Mike Linley hit eight off the bench, all in the second half. Interactive, now 3-1, was paced by Odarty Blankson's 23, while Kellin Miliner hit 18, Ryan Blankson had 17 and Morgan 14.

BC Howren 95 Cedartown 90 (OT)... Cedartown flirted with posting its first win of the season, but gave one away to BC Howren. Up by 10 with only 1:10 remaining in regulation, Cedartown could not hang on to the ball and failed to convert freethrows, while BC Howren went on a 12-2 run in the final minute to send the game to overtime. BC Howren gained control in the OT and pulled out the win.

ServPro-2 81 Polk County 67... ServPro-2 had a battle on their hands in the first half, as Polk was able to hang strong. ServPro-2 began to pull away in the second half and rode to victory, remaining undefeated at 6-0 overall and now 2-0 in the West Division. Polk slipped to 1-5 overall and 1-1 in the West Division.

Summer Hill 68 Team Croft 60... The Blue Devils held a usually high-scoring TC team to only 26 first half points, taking a 35-26 lead into intermission. TC heated up in the second, but Summer Hill was able to hang on in the end to move to 4-2 overall and 2-0 in the East Division of the City Conference B-League. The win moved Summer Hill into first place in the Division. TC, who were without the services of Emmanual Holloway, slipped to 4-2, 1-1 and into a tie for second place.

BC Knicks-2 70 Future Entertainment 67… O’Brian Wilkins drew a foul with only 1.4 seconds remaining while he was launching a three-pointer at the end. He stepped to the line and nailed all three shots at the line to give the Knicks a three point lead. FE could not get a good shot off at the buzzer. The Knicks moved to 4-2, 1-1 in the B-League East Division, while FE slipped to 3-3, 0-2 in the East Division.

ServPro-1 Bewilders #2 Seed Celtics 88-70 in North Semis...

The #2 Seeded Celtics, who handily defeated ServPro-1 during the regular season, did not have an answer in the playoffs for the offensive prowess of Charles Burkett who drilled 28 in the 88-70 win. The Celtics found themselves down by 10-12 points on numerous occasion, fought back to close the gap, only to see Burkett nail a 28 footer to re-build the gap. The Celtics mustered one last comeback attempt, as they had trimmed the ServPro-1 lead to 5 at 70-65, but Burkett and Taran Trahon each buried 3 pointers on consecutive trips to break the Celtic's backs. The game ended on a ServPro-1 run that made the game look like more of a blow out than it really was. Trahon finished with 14 for ServPro-1, while Jermaine Spivey hit 12 and Jamarl Bryant 9. For the Celtics, who finished with an overall 6-4 record, Rob McKinney downed 15, Damien Payne 13, Jason Bryant 11 and Shae Blair 10.
ServPro-1 will now face Baseline-1 in the North Finals Friday night at 8:30pm, which is essentially the League Semi-finals. The game will decide who will represent the North Division as the #1 and #2 seeds in the Final Four Showcase on this coming Saturday in Cartersville.
While we know who the North Division's Final Four representatives will be, we will not know until Thursday evening who will represent the Central Division. The favorites are the top 3 seeds, those being... The #1 Rome Gladiators who are 8-0, #2 Lakers at 7-1 (last year's runner-ups), and #3 Team Georgia at 5-3 (2003 Elite 8). But, #6 Metro Stars, who were in the Final Four last summer, have surged at the end of the season and could upset some teams in the Central Tournament on Wednesday and Thursday at Clayton State in Morrow, Georgia.

Cartersville, GA - The SEBL Regular Season has been sizzling hot all summer and came to a close with many teams still jockeying for better seedings for the upcoming playoffs.

Stay tuned to the playoff results as the week goes by. "Semi-final Saturday" will be on this coming Saturday August 11th at JH Morgan Gym on Aubrey Street, when all of the Divsions will be playing semis of their respective Final Fours. The day will go as follows:

B-League Game Summaries - 7/10/04
July 11, 2004 --
The Sixers exploded onto the scene with a resounding 107-66 win over Hames, in the first game of the season. Mike Reynolds and Eric Cochran each pumped in 32 to fuel the victors, as Lamar Hudson and Tomar McClendon each tallied 11. The Sixers move to 1-0. The overmatched Hames squad got 14 from both Mike Linley and LaRay Roberts, as Quinten Gardner and Terry Hames collected 12 and 10, respectively.
Rockmart wore down the Adairsville team in the second half to claim a 60-46 win. Wesley Woods led the way with 15, as Tie Fezzai and Deun Hoxie chipped in with 12 and 10 points for Rockmart, who jumps out to 1-0 early in the season. Adairsville was paced by Tad Wilkey who hit 12.
Baseline-2 picked up where it left off last summer, by claiming an 88-81 win over the Hounds. Courtney Stanley, the 2003 City Conference B-League MVP, pounded his way to 21 points for Baseline-2, while Cliff Washington netted 18, Bobby Brown & Marcus Henderson 13 each, Rod Ashmore 12 and Darrell Wilkins 11, as they start the season 1-0. The Hounds were led by Chris Morgan's 21 and Ced Ward's 20. Demetrius Gibbons and Brian Stevenson also scored 16 and 15, respectively, for the Hounds who begin the summer with an 0-1 record.
ServPro-2, got a balanced attack in its season opening 78-50 drubbing of Squad Mundane. Wesley Adams sank 16, Derek Carey 12, while Jay Nelson and Johnny Goodman each scored 11 for ServPro-2. For Mundane, Eric Ballard and Sam Weaver both notched 12.

A-League Game Summaries - 7/10/04...
July 11, 2004 --
ServPro-1, the 2003 A-League Defending Champs, got 32 from Charles Burkett enroute to a hard-fought 78-72 victory over Dalton. ServPro-1, down 39-35 at the half used the 3-pt line to reclaim the lead and Burkett and Jackie Copeland connected for eight treys in the second half. Dalton, behind the sharp-shooting of Wayne Norman and Tim Moore, kept things close but ran out of gas late. To aid Burkett, Victor Saxton, who played professionally in Australia, pounded in 18, Copeland hit 12 and Latece Williams, who played in Lebanon, dropped 11. Norman, drilled six 3-pointers, while leading Dalton with 28, and Tim Moore downed 22.
Baseline-1 squeeked by the C'villians 62-61, in overtime. The C'villians were up 30-20 at the half, before Baseline-1 began a slow comeback mid-way through the second half. Baseline-1 had a 55-52 lead late in regulation, when Marcus Woods drilled a trey to knot the score at 55, with 28 seconds left. Then, a subsequent turnover by Baseline-1's Bobby Brown, allowed Tie Fezzai to put the C'villians up 57-55 with only 8 seconds left. Baseline-1 then almost turned it over again on the inbounds, but a timeout was called with only 3 ticks left in regulation. With the advent of having the ball advanced past half court, Baseline-1 inbounded the ball to Cliff Washington, who flipped in back to Bobby Brown. Brown drove down the left baseline and sank a finger roll at the buzzer to re-knot the score at 57. In the overtime, the C'villians drew first blood on a reverse lay-in by Woods. Baseline's Marcus Henderson hit the front end of two Freethrows to cut the score to 59-58. His second attempt was batted around and knocked out of bounds to the C'villians with only 30 seconds remaining. Then, with 13 seconds left, Washington got a steal and flipped to a waiting Hamilton for a jam, putting Baseline-1 up 60-59. On the ensuing inbounds, Woods dropped the ball inbounds and Hamilton grabbed it up and scored again, giving Baseline-1 a 62-59 spread. The C'villians called timeout, moving the ball into their court. With 4 seconds on the clock, the inbounds pass went to the corner to Darrell Wilkins, who could not connect on the 3-point attempt. Kevin Wilkins, scooped in the offensive rebound and scored at the buzzer, but it was only a two-pointer, leaving the victory to Baseline-1. Brown and Hamilton had 19 and 18, respectively, for the winners, as Cliff Washington collected 8 and Courtney Stanley was held to 7. Tie Fezzai downed 17, Woods 15 and Darrell Wilkins 14 for the C'villians.
The Celtics last summer mid-season form with an 86-67 pasting of Skyline-1. Mike Carson paced a balanced attack with 16, while Damien Payne, Rob McKinney and Jason Bryant each netted 11, and Kenyatta Baylor and Charles Owens collected 10 each. For Skyline-1 Jay Warden poured in 22 and Kelvin Boyd tallied 11.
The Jaguars benefited from a forfeit by Team GA, who was unable to show for the game.

B-League Game Summaries - 7/12
July 12, 2004 --
Baseline-2 improved to 2-0, after cruising to a 93-42 win over Future Entertainment. Baseline-2 saw 7 players score in double figures, with Bobby Brown leading the pack with 20 points and 6 boards. He was followed by Marcus Henderson with 14 points, Ray Luque's 13, 11 each for Jay Warden and Courtney Stanley, as well as, 10 each from Rod Ashmore and Georgy Joseph. Darrell Wilkins rounded out the stats for Baseline-2, while collecting 4 points, 4 rebounds and 6 assists. Future Entertainment was paced by Ahmad Kent's 10, as Darnel Cox put in 7 and Ced Ward and Demtrius Gibbon each collected 6. Eric White also tallied 4 points, 3 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 steals. Future Ent. falls to 0-1 early in the season.
The Sixers moved to 2-0, as the broke the 100 mark again, in a 101-63 blowout of the Hounds. Eric Cochran poured in 37 points, as Mike Reynolds downed 21 and grabbed 9 rebounds. Lamar Hudson also had 16 and Troy Moore pounded in 15 and pulled 10 boards for the Sixers. Tomar McClendon also tallied 10 points and five steals for the Sixers in the win. The Hounds, who actually led the 1st half before giving up a 9-0 run to end the half trailing 44-35, ran out of gas. They were led by John Taylor's stellar 37 point, 9 rebound effort, while Clay Harris netted 16 points, 5 rebounds and 3 steals. The Hounds fell to 0-2 on the young season.
Rockmart also upped its record to 2-0, with a 73-64 win over Mundane. Kyle Hoxie led Rockmart with 18 points and 10 boards, while James Williams scored 15, grabbed 7 rebounds and snatched 3 steals. Lamar Hudson downed 29 in the loss for Mundane. Mundane slips to 0-2 on the summer.
Cedartown debuted with an easy forfeit win over ServPro-2.

A-League North Game Summaries - 7/13
July 13, 2004 --
Brett Gravitt scored 15 points in leading the Celtics to a 70-55 upset over the defending champion ServPro-1 squad. The Celtics who move to 2-0, caught ServPro-1 on a night they did not have star players Charles Burkett and Jermaine Spivey, and they took full advantage jumping to a 10 point lead early in the 1st half and riding it til the end. Gravitt, who plays professionally in Norway, got help from former Reinhardt College players Rob McKinney and Mike Carson, who tallied 11 and 10 points, respectively. Now 1-1, ServPro-1 was paced by John William's 16 points, Victor Saxton's 14 and David Dunn's 13.
Another balanced attack fueled by defensive intensity fueled Baseline-1 to a 78-63 win over GA Vikings. Rod Ashmore led the way with 14 points, as Bobby Brown hit 13, Courtney Stanley had 12, while Marcus Henderson, Georgy Joseph and Cliff Washington each collected 11. Cam Fitch downed 16 for the Vikings, JD Pollock hit 12 and Kemper Fitch and Sheldon Peterson had 10 each.
Skyline-1 defeated the Jaguars 56-44, in a defensive struggle. Each team moves to 1-1 on the season. Skyline-1 was paced Jay Warden, who had 16 and JJ Merritt hit 14. Gathan White had 17 for the Jags, as Junior Sainvil hit 12.
The C'villians rebounded from a heart-breaking OT loss on Saturday to trash Dalton 101-77. Lamar Hudson, returned to form, drilling 9 treys enroute to a game-high 32 for the C'villians. Darrell Wilkins hit 21, Marcus Woods 15, Brian Stevenson 14 and Tie Fezzai 13 for the now 1-1 C'villians team. Tim Moore buried 27, Teddy Ragland 24, Wayne Norman and former Peidmont player Tremayne Pender dumped 10 points for Dalton, who slipped to 0-2.

A-League Central Game Summaries - 7/14
July 14, 2004 --
The Lakers struggled with Tri-County Wednesday night in Morrow, before inching away late for a 58-53 win to open the Summer League season. Darien Chavis hit 18, Sawadago Aristiole dropped 11 and 2003 Summer League MVP Craig Butts downed 10 for the Lakers. Former Valdosta State star John Prise scored 20 and Darian Burke 17 for Tri-County.
The Rome Gladiators summer entry into the Southeastern Pro Am got off to a good start with a 77-64 win over the Metro Stars. Former VA Tech player Joe Hamilton, who played for Macon & Rome in the recently completed WBA Pro League, paced Rome with 23 points. Shamar Johnson hit 16, while the other Gladiator hold over Mike Benton pounded in 11 points, pulled 10 boards and blocked 5 shots. Also, Leon Parker scored 11 and former Iowa State star Kantrail Horton tallied 9 points, 6 assists and 4 steals. Former Clayton State star Charlie Frazier pumped in 23 and Oxford College point guard Austin Ewing hit 13 for Metro.
Michael Woodard and Gary Springer combined for 42 points in leading the SW Tigers to a 65-64 victory over the Lightening. Donald Parrish and Gayle Carey each had 15 for the Lightening, while former New Orleans player Corey Sanders collected 10 points and 9 boards.
Team GA debuted with 28 from Joe Harris and 23 points from Antonio Henderson, in walking away with a 79-64 pasting of Streetwalker. Former Life University players Anthony Maxwell and Tony Phillips buried 21 and 17, respectively, while Issac Cook, who played at Lindsey Wilson College, scored 12 points, all on second half 3-pointers.

A-League Central Game Summaries - 7/15
July 15, 2004 --
The Lightening rebounded from a loss on opening night to squeeze past the Atlanta Fire 79-76. Donald Parrish paced the Lightening with 22 points, while Gayle Carey netted 19, Jamal Johnson hit 17, and Corey Sanders dropped 14 and pulled 8 boards. The Fire, who supplanted the Streetwalkers team, got 20 from Jay Hall, 19 by Johnathan Reed and Gregory Jefferson, and 13 from Mike Phenizee. The Streetwalkers team, who was being organized by former Life University player Keith Lundy, failed to report or meet financial obligation.
Tri-County evened its record to 1-1, after pulling away in the 2nd half for a 62-47 win over the Metro Stars. Marcus Hughes led Tri-County with 16, while John Prise and John Thompson each netted 10. For Metro, Oxford College PG Austin Ewing drilled 21 and former Clayton State player Jason Byrd had 11. Metro fell to 0-2.
Team Georgia started slow and trailed 35-28 versus the SW Tigers, before racing back in the 2nd stanza to pull away with a 69-55 win. Team GA employed a 3/4 press and trapped its way to easy baskets. Joseph Harris, out of Georgia College, scored 22 points and Duwand Jackson tallied 13 for Team GA, who move to 2-0 and into a tie for 1st place in the early going. SW was paced by Michael Woodard and Desmond Williams, who scored 16 and 15, respectively. Bennett Jones also had 12 for the Tigers, who slipped to 1-1.
The Lakers let one slip away late, as the Rome Gladiators came from behind in the final seconds to get a 58-57 victory. Jamal Johnson, after trading teams, led the Gladiators with 14 points. Joe Hamilton and Leon Parker each got 13 for the now 2-0 Gladiators. Craig Butts and BJ Puckett netted 13 and 12, respectively, for the 1-1 Lakers.

July 16, 2004 --
July 16th - TJ Printup scored 10 for Adairsville, as they moved to 1-1 with a low-scoring 47-42 win over the Hounds. Cedric Banks also had 10 and Eric Ballard had 6. The Hounds, who led 29-15 at the half before running out of gas, got 13 from Scott Taylor and 12 from John Taylor. The Hounds fell to 0-3.
The Sixers continued their onslaught of their B-League opponents, after a sound 89-60 whippin of a roster-depleted ServPro-2 squad. Mike Reynolds drilled 27, as Eric Cochran had 25 and Lamar Hudson and Tomar McClendon each hit 14 for the 3-0 Sixers. For ServPro-2, Jay Nelson scored 16, Wesley Adams 15 and Jamarl Bryant 13.
Future Entertainment handed Rockmart their first loss, after a 59-55 clipping on Friday evening. Ced Ward downed 19, Chris Morgan 14 and Ammod Kent 11 for the now 1-1 Future team. Rockmart, falling to 2-1, had 11 each from Deun Hoxie, James Williams and Lavada Johnson.
In the night-cap, Team Hames got 19 from LaRay Roberts enroute to a 44-42 defensive win over Squad Mundane. Horace Jones also had 8 for Team Hames, who moves to 1-1. Mundane's Sam Weaver hit 13, while Al Goodman sank 12. Mundane saw its record plummet to 0-3.

A-LEAGUE GAME SUMMARIES… July 17th - The GA Vikings, who were supposed to play ServPro-1, were the benefactor of a exhibition matchup vs Adairsville from the B-League. ServPro-1 was unable play due to a prior commitment in a tournament in Alabama. The Vikings took advantage and bolted to a 32-11 half time spread. Before Adairsville could adjust the game was over, with the Vikings claiming a 62-46 victory. Cam Fitch, who plays at Berry College, led the winners with 18 points, as Sheldon Peterson had 15 and Johnathan Reddell hit 13. For Adairsville, Edwin Higginbotham scored 10, while Eric Ballard and Johnny Smith each had 8. The Vikings move to 1-2 in the North. The forfeit loss, moved original opponent, ServPro-1 to 1-2 in the North Division… In another much anticipating game the Celtics and Baseline-1 tangled in what resulted in a strange, bruising, defensive struggle between the two top North Division teams. Baseline-1 pulled away in the 2nd half to win 47-33, despite seeing two players ejected. Bobby Brown, former Kennesaw State player, was tossed as the 1st half ended, and Georgie Joseph was ejected just before the end of regulation. In the interim, both teams battled hard, with Baseline holding a slim 20-16 intermission lead. In the 2nd half, Joseph’s size dominated and despite only hitting two field goals, took over the paint, and wound with a game-high 15 points which came mainly on his 10-11 shooting at the FT line. Skyline had a slim 35-31 lead at the half, but balanced scoring from the C’villians finally wore down Skyline’s defense. Lamar Hudson fueled the C’villian attack with 15, as Darrell Wilkins (former Gordon College player) netted 14, Tie Fezzai 13, Brian Stevenson 12 and Kevin Wilkins 11. The C’villians moved to 2-1 on the season are currently 3rd in the North Division. Skyline got 20 from former Shorter star JJ Merritt, 19 by former Georgia SW player Mac Henderson and 11 from Jay Warden, who plays at Georgia College… In the night-cap, Dalton won a 67-65 see-saw battle with the Jaguars. Tim Moore paced Dalton to their 1st win of the season with 25 pts, as Sinclair Broome hit 20 and Teddy Ragland had 17. Dalton moved to 1-2 in the North Division. The Jags got 20 points from former GA Tech player TJ Vines and 10 from Reinhardt player Emeca Ngonadi. The Jaguars slide to 1-2 in the North Division.
B-League Game Summaries… July 17th - Future Entertainment made it 2 in a row, with a 74-60 win over Team Hames. Brian Stevenson, a former Metro Conference MVP, hit 28 points, as oon to be Wallace State player Chris Morgan scored 19 and Demetrius Gibbons got 14 for Future, who moved to 2-1 overall and 1-1 in the East Division, and are now squarely in 3rd position in the East Division. Hames, which fell to 1-2 (0-2), was led by B.Low with 18, while Terry Hames and LaRay Roberts each had 13. Team Hames is sitting in the 4th spot in the East Division.… Cedartown, is now atop the West Division with a 2-0 (2-0) mark, after pulling away late to whip Adairsville 63-44. Former Miles College player, Schuyler Pace paced Cedartown with 15, as Cedric Clark had 12, Corey Gardhigh 8. Weston Price and Tracy Murphy got 7 each. Adairsville, now 2-2 (0-2), was led by Edwin Higgenbothem’s 14, as Devante McClain collected 7 and Ray Nalls and Johnny Washington got 6 each. Adairsville is perched in the 4th spot in the West Division, despite having the same overall record as Rockmart and ServPro-2. A-ville has suffered losses in both its divisional games…. ServPro-2 notched an easy forfeit win over Rockmart, who failed to show for the game in time. ServPro-2 upped its overall record to 2-2 and Western Division record to 2-1, and with a win Friday can inch back up the standings where they are used to being. Meanwhile, Rockmart, who was seemingly one of the stronger teams early on with a 2-0 record out of the “box,” has imploded, will fold and not complete the season. League staff, before next Saturday, will attempt to replace Rockmart with either a Dalton or Douglasville team, or possibly long-time summer league team, Franklin Ford…I n what was a greatly anticipated matchup in the Eastern Division, two undefeated teams -- Baseline-2 and the high scoring Sixers finally got to square off, with Baseline-2 claiming an 84-63 win. Baseline-2 was able to keep the Sixers potent offense at bay with swarming defense to jump to a 42-27 lead at the half. The Sixers made their run with about 7 minutes to go, going on a 10-0 run to trim the lead down to 60-54, behind Lamar Hudson's and Mike Reynolds' scoring. But, Baseline-2 answered as Ray Luque fed Marcus Henderson and Courtney Stanley in the block on consecutive trips to thwart the rally. Stanley had 19, Bobby Brown 13, Luque 12, Henderson 11 and Rod Ashmore 10 points, as Baseline-2 took over sole control of first place in the East Divsion, with a 3-0 (3-0) mark. Marcus Woods downed 23, Hudson 18 and Reynolds 12, as the Sixers slip to 2nd in the East Division at 3-1 overall, 2-1 in the Division. July 16th - TJ Printup scored 10 for Adairsville, as they moved to 1-1 with a low-scoring 47-42 win over the Hounds. Cedric Banks also had 10 and Eric Ballard had 6. The Hounds, who led 29-15 at the half before running out of gas, got 13 from Scott Taylor and 12 from John Taylor. The Hounds fell to 0-3... The Sixers continued their onslaught of their B-League opponents, after a sound 89-60 whippin of a roster-depleted ServPro-2 squad. Mike Reynolds drilled 27, as Eric Cochran had 25 and Lamar Hudson and Tomar McClendon each hit 14 for the 3-0 Sixers. For ServPro-2, Jay Nelson scored 16, Wesley Adams 15 and Jamarl Bryant 13... Future Entertainment handed Rockmart their first loss, after a 59-55 clipping on Friday evening. Ced Ward downed 19, Chris Morgan 14 and Ammod Kent 11 for the now 1-1 Future team. Rockmart, falling to 2-1, had 11 each from Deun Hoxie, James Williams and Lavada Johnson... In the night-cap, Team Hames got 19 from LaRay Roberts enroute to a 44-42 defensive win over Squad Mundane. Horace Jones also had 8 for Team Hames, who moves to 1-1. Mundane's Sam Weaver hit 13, while Al Goodman sank 12. Mundane saw its record plummet to 0-3.

Lakers 69 Lightening 66... The Lakers took advantage of the Lightening’s absence of “bigs,” and bolted to a 49-23 lead at the half. But, the “Bigs” finally showed up and the 2nd half was a different story, as the Lightening struck back to cut the deficit to 3 late in the game. It was too late. Craig Butts led the now 3-1 Lakers with 25 points and Rashad Williams had 11. For the 2-2 Lightening, Gayle Carey hit 16, Tony Rutland (188-G-75, agency: ND Corner Sports, college: Wake Forest) 13 and Corey Sanders (212-C-79, agency: Donigan and Associates, college: New Orleans) 10. Donald Parrish (188-G-83, agency: Donigan and Associates) also netted 9 for the Lightening.
Gladiators 90 Team GA 63... The Glads, moved to 4-0, after pasting Team GA. The 1st half saw the Glads jump out, only to see Team GA come back and make it 44-37. In the 2nd, with the score 69-61 Team GA stagnated and the Glads went on a tear behind Shemar Johnson, who scored 16 of his 18 points in the last minutes. Jamal Johnson (201-F-81, college: Clayton St.) led the victors with 20, as Joe Hamilton hit 18 and Mike Benton (206-C-80, agency: Pensack and Associates, college: Charleston), Leon Parker and Lamar Rodgers each had 12. For Team GA, now 2-2, Antonio Henderson took game high honors with 24, while Cam Dailey notched 10.
Tri County 63 SW Tigers 59... The Tigers came out like ‘gangbusters’ with an early 22-9 lead over Tri County. But, consecutive back door plays to Brandon Childs got the Crusaders ‘cooking’ and they raced back to take a 33-31 half time lead. The lead changed hands repeatedly in the 2nd half. With 30 seconds left, Tri County’s John Prise (191-G, college: Valdosta St.) buried a long trey to put his team up 61-58, a lead the Tigers could not re-cover from in the waning seconds. Prise led all scorers with 17, Mike Crain hit 14 and Childs 13 for the 2-2 Tri County team. Michael Woodard hit 16, DeMario Meriwheather 14 and Q. Brown 12 for the 1-3 Tigers.
ATL Fire 83 Metro Stars 70... The Fire was its 2nd straight to move to 2-2. But it was not easy, as they saw a commanding double digit lead disappear, as Metro stormed back to take a 46-43 lead at the half on long range shooting. The Fire regrouped in the 2nd, as Metro went cold. Mike Phenizee (203-C, college: Clayton St.) downed 26, Jay Hall 19, Cedrick Kulombo 18 and Tahaun Tuitt 13 for the Fire. For the Metro, who plummets to 0-4, Austin Ewing and Derrick Thomason each had 19 and Matt Klubenspeis notched 9.

Amod Kent hit 26, Chris Morgan 16, Demtrius Gibbons 15 and Brian Stevenson 12 for Future; Clay Harris drilled 25, John Taylor 16 and Scott Taylor 10 for the now 0-3.
ServPro 78 Adairsville 77 (ot)... ServPro-2, now 3-2, had its hands full Friday evening with Adairsville, before finally eaking out the win in overtime. For ServPro-2, Derek Carey hit 17, Jay Nelson 15, Terry Ford 14, Jamarl Bryant 10 and Darnel Cox 10. For Adairsville, who fell to 2-3, TJ Printup downed 30, Eric Ballard 22, Ray Nalls 8.
Baseline-2 89 Hames 50... Baseline-2 saw six score in double figures in moving to 4-0 on the season. Ray Luque led the way with 20, while Rod Ashmore hit 14, Cliff Washington 12, Marcus Henderson 11, and Bobby Brown and Courtney Stanley got 10 each. For Hames, LaRay Roberts had a game high 21 and Terry Hames netted 15, as their team's record slipped to 1-3.

Fut Ent. 72 Sixers 70... Ammod Kent turned in another nice effort with 19 points, while leading his Future Entertainment team to a tough victory over the Sixers. Future Ent., now 4-1, also got 16 from Demtrius Gibbons and 13 from Brian Stevenson. The Sixers, who fell to 3-2 and into 3rd place in the East, got 19 from Tomar McClendon, 16 from Tevis Wells, while Mike Reynolds and Lamar Hudson hit 15 and 10, respectively.
Hounds 60 Hames 52... Mike Linley poured in 31 for Team Hames, but it was not enough, as the Hounds got 21 from John Taylor, 14 from Clay Harris and 13 from John Owens. The Hounds move out of the cellar with a 1-4 record. Teddy Slocum also hit 11 for Hames, who has an identical 1-4 record. But, the head-to-head loss to the Hounds slips them down to 5th in the East Division.
Cedartown 87 Rockmart 82... Cedartown got balanced scoring in a hard-fought win over Rockmart. Scott Brown pounded in 16, as Schuyler Pace, Weston Price and Tracy Murphy hit 15, 15 and 14, repectively. Cedartown, who moves to 4-0, also got 11 from Corey Gardhigh and 10 from Bryant Lynch. Rockmart, using borrowed players, got 20 from Lamar Hudson, 18 from Tevis Wells and 17 from Chris Morgan. Rockmart, fell to 2-3, in what was their last game. Efforts to locate a team to supplant Rockmart were not successful, so the remaining 3 games on the scheduled will be deemed victories for Rockmart opponents.
Adairsville 69 Mundane 50... A closely fought game turned into a rout the last 4 minutes as Adairsville defeated Mundane. For Adairsville, who moved to 3-3, Eric Ballard hit 20, TJ Printup 16, Ray Nalls 14 and Johnny Smith 12. Mundane, who remains winless at 0-5, got 13 from Jeff Croft, and 10 each from Reggie King and Sam Weaver.

Gathan White paced the way with 23, while Junior Sainvil hit 20 and Phillip Griffin and Jamal Maiden 13 each. The C'villians, who fell to 2-3, got 18 from Darrell Wilkins and 15 each from Marcus Woods and Brian Stevenson.
Dalton 89 Skyline 86... Dalton moved to 3-2 and into 3rd position in the North with the win over Skyline, who fell to 1-4. Dalton's Wayne Norman drilled 34, as Teddy Ragland got 21, Tim Moore 15 and Sinclaire Broome 11. For 1-4 Skyline, who has lost 3 games by 3 points or less, JJ Merritt pumped in 36, Derek Davis scored 19, Kelvin Boyd 17 and Garnett Day 14.
Baseline-1 79 ServPro-1 50... A roster depleted ServPro-1 team could not keep up with Baseline-1, as SerPro fell below .500 at 2-3. Baseline-1, who remained unbeaten at 5-0 on the season, got 13 from Cliff Washington, 11 each from Rod Ashmore, Georgy Joseph and Bobby Brown, and 10 from Ray Luque. Newly Acquired forward Terrence Hill had 8, as Marcus Henderson and Courtney Stanley collected 6 and 5, respectively. For ServPro-1, Trent Eagar had 16, Victor Saxton 13, John Williams 13, Jackie Copeland 6 and Unice Washington 2.
Celtics 78 GA Vikings 66... The Celtics got back on the win track and moved to 3-2 on the summer, while the GA Vikings fell to 2-3. Mike Carson led the Celtics with 19, Damien Payne hit 17, Brett Gravitt 12, Kenyatta Baylor 11 and Jason Bryant 10. The Vikings' Cam Fitch got all of his team high 19 in the 2nd half, while Tiger Booker hit 12, JD Pollock 10 and Johnathan Reddell 9.

ServPro-2 73 Team Hames 50... Derek Carey led ServPro-2, now 4-2, to its 2nd straight victory while scoring 22 points. Former Savannah College of AD player, Wes Adams had 10, as did former Chattanooga State player Johnny Goodman (198-F-78, college: Martin Methodist). ServPro is now sits alone in second place in the West Division behind unbeaten Cedartown. Terry Hames had 22 and LaRay Roberts 12, for the now 1-5 Team Hames squad.
Future Entertainment 87 Mundane 75... Future Entertainment, got 21 from Amodd Kent, while moving to 5-1 on the season. Demetrius Gibbons downed 18, Chris Morgan 17 and Brian Stevenson (186-G, college: Jacksonville St.) 15 for the victors. Mundane, who picked up two new players (Jermaine Spivey (189-G-72, college: New Orleans) and Mike Linley (6-0 G Wallace State), still could not muster a win. Spivey notched the summer's highest point total with 41 points, Mike Linley hit 15 and Eric Jarvis had 14, but it was not enough and they fell to 0-6 on the season. It was unclear if Spivey would remain with the Mundane team for the remainder of the B-League regular season, because the team's financial status hangs in the balance. Spivey, who played for Baseline-2 last summer, could rejoin the defending champs by this weekend.
Baseline-2 96 Adairsville 67... Rod Ashmore (196-F/G, college: Kennesaw St.) and Bobby Brown broke free for 26 points each, and Ray Luque hit 17 for the 5-0 Baseline-2 squad, as they kept their 1/2 game lead over Future Entertainment in the East Division. Darrell Wilkins (186-G), Jay Warden and Marcus Henderson (201-F-81, college: Athens St.) also had 9, 6 and 6, respectively, for Baseline. For Adairsville, who slipped to 3-4, Eric Ballard got 14, Ray Nalls 13, Brandon Smalls 13, Johnny Washington 10 and Cedric Banks 8.

Dalton 68 GA Vikings 59... Dalton moved to 4-2, behind 16 from Wayne Norman, 15 from Tim Moore and Teddy Ragland's 10 points. The Vikings, who fell to 2-4, got 17 from Cam Fitch, 13 from Ben Elliott and 13 from Kemper Fitch. Dalton led 44-37 at the half.
Celtics 90 C'villians 60... The Celtics simply blew away a normally very competitive C'villians squad, behind Damien Payne's 19, and 17 each from Mike Carson and Rob McKinney. The Celtics, who move to 4-2, also got 11 from Brett Gravitt (193-G-79, college: S.Alabama). Marcus Woods hit 18, Darrell Wilkins (186-G) 14 and Lamar Hudson (183-G, college: Rome R.) 11 for the C'villians.
Baseline-1 65 Skyline 62... Up 35-16 at the half, Baseline-1 took a good 3-point shooting Skyline team for granted. Skyline outscored Baseline-1 46-30 in the 2nd stanza and cut the lead to 3, at 62-59 with only 50 seconds remaining. Rod Ashmore (196-F/G, college: Kennesaw St.) (196-F/G, college: Kennesaw St.) and Ray Luque combined for 3 of 4 FT down the stretch. Bobby Brown (201-F-79, college: Kennesaw St.) was the only Baseline player in double figures with 13, as Ashmore and Luque each had nine. For Skyline, Georgia College player Jay Warden hit 16, Mike Linley 15, former Shorter College star J.J. Merritt (191-G-75) 13 and Chris Morgan, a Wallace State player, had 11. Baseline-1 remained atop the North Division standings at 6-0. Skyline slipped to 1-5, but are the definite sleeper in the North, as 4 of their losses have come by only 3 points or less. No one wants to face Skyline in the opener of the playoffs in two weeks.
ServPro-1 73 Jaguars 51... Jermaine Spivey (189-G-72, college: New Orleans) and Trent Eagar, each got 17, as they improved their record to 3-3 on the summer. ServPro-1 did not figure the Jaguars out until late in the second half, as the score was knotted at the intermission, and the lead see sawed through the mid-way point of the second half. But, Spivey and ServPro-1 newcomer Taron Trahan (178-G-78, college: Columbus), were able to get the transition game cranked up, allowing them to breeze past the now 2-4 Jaguars. John Williams (193-F/G-71), a former John C. Calhoun College standout, helped ServPro-1 with 15 points and Trahan tallied 10. For the Jaguars, Reinhardt College player Emeka Ngonadi netted 16 and Jamal Maiden downed 10.

Team GA 89 Metro Stars 55... A revamped Team GA squad blew open a close game in the 2nd half to route the Metro Stars. Joe Harris led the way with 21, as Lorenzo Davis (201-F-79) hit 16, Troy Sledge 15. Antonio Henderson and Richard White each got 11, for the now 3-2 Gary Lee led Team GA team.
Rome Gladiators 81 Atlanta Fire 79 (ot)... Head Coach Lionel Garrett and the Rome Gladiators continue to figure out a way to win. Down 77-72 with less than 30 seconds left in regulation, Jamal Johnson (201-F-81, college: Clayton St.) got a steal at mid-court and then promptly nailed a three, which was followed up by a Fire miscue. Joe Hamilton then connected on a short jumper to knot the score. The Fire missed a chance to win it at the buzzer, and Mike Phenizee got a pass under the bucket and was fouled as he pushed up toward the rim. The foul was ruled after the buzzer, sending the game to OT. In the extra period, the Gladiators outscored the Fire 4-2 and Phenizee had another lay up attempt for the tie blocked at the buzzer. The Glads Johnson led all scorers with 32, while Hamilton hit 21, Lamar Rodgers 13 and Leon Parker 11, as they moved to 5-0. Tri County 73 Lightening 68 (2ot)... Tri County came out strong in the early going and stretched their efforts to a 34-28 half time lead. The Lightening actually trailed by as many as 11 in the second half before coming back to tie it in regulation at 61. The first overtime saw neither team get much accomplished, ending 63-all. Tri County, in the double overtime, John Prise (191-G, college: Valdosta St.) nailed a huge trey, followed by a short bucket to create a spread the Lightening could not overcome. Prise, Darien Burker and Mike Crain each got 17 for the now 3-2 Tri County squad, while Brandon Childs hit 11. Former Univ. Florida player Brian Thompson (198-F-73, agency: Donigan and Associates, college: Florida) led the 2-3 Lightening with 18, as Corey Sanders (212-C-79, agency: Donigan and Associates, college: New Orleans) got 15. The Lightening's Tony Rutland (188-G-75, agency: ND Corner Sports, college: Wake Forest) notched nine in limited minutes.

Metro A League Games Thursday night at Clayton State University in Morrow, GA:
Lakers 89 Team GA 63... Craig Butts drilled 27 points, as the Lakers put the skids on Team GA's win streak. The win moved the Lakers to 5-1, with games left in the regular season. Michael Sloan hit 18, BJ Puckett 17 and Sawadago Aristiole 16, in a game that the Lakers dominated from the opening tip. Joe Harris paced Team GA with 25, as Antonio Henderson collected 14. Team GA fell to 3-3 on the season, and must respond next week to keep its third seed for the playoffs.
Atlanta Fire 73 Tri County 58... The Fire used a balanced offensive attack and its size advantage to outlast Tri County. Cedrick Kalumbo and Jonathan Reed each hit 15, and 6'10" Mike Phenizee (203-C, college: Clayton St.) and former Shawnee State player Jay Hall each garnered 13 for the Fire, who upped its record to 3-3. Tri County got 18 from Morehouse College standout Brandon Childs, 11 from John Prise (191-G, college: Valdosta St.), while Mike Crain hit 10. Tri County slipped to 3-3 on the summer.
Metro Stars 72 Lightening 71... Gunning for its 1st win of the season, Metro led through out the game, but allowed the Lightening to storm back late in the second half. Metro actually led 44-33 at the half, but Tylson Boyd and Larry Thompson led the Lightening charge to come back. The Lightening took a 71-69 lead with only six seconds remaining... but, Steven Cox grabbed the ball out of the net and quickly threw it on the right side of the lane to Austin Ewing, who dribble to the left side a few steps from half court and let the "hail mary" fly -- it flew, and while flying the buzzer sounded and it bounced right off the back board and into the goal for the win. Metro improved to 1-5, while the Lightening, who continue to struggle with consistency, dropped to 2-4, despite having one of the more talented rosters in the league. Derrick Stroud (202-F/C-75, agency: Frontline Sports, college: Indiana St.), who played in Hungary this past season, made his 2004 Pro Am debut with 24 points to lead Metro, while Ewing, a rising Sophomore PG at Oxford College finished with 16 and Robert Lawrence from Lagrange College netted 13. For the Lightening, Tylson Boyd sank 21, former Rutgers player Donald Parrish (188-G-83, agency: Donigan and Associates) 15 and Quincy Simpson 10.
Rome Gladiators 83 SW Tigers 65... Rome kept a tough Tiger squad at bey, with timely 3-point shooting from James Maye (197-F-81, college: NC-Greensboro) and Jamal Johnson (201-F-81, college: Clayton St.), as the combined for 11 treys in the contest. Maye, who finished with a game high 23, was a member of the Gladiators team during the WBA regular season. The UNC-Greensboro product was making his 2004 debut in the SE Pro Am, as he just recently returned from participating in the LA Summer Pro League. Johnson, also hit 20 for Rome, who still lead the Central Division with a 6-0 mark. Also for Rome, Mike Benton (206-C-80, agency: Pensack and Associates, college: Charleston) pounded in 19 and Joe Hamilton (198-F, college: Virginia Tech) hit 10. For the Tigers, who like the North Division's Skyline is the sleeper team in the Central, Michael Woodard hit 16, Dewan Jackson 14 and DeMario Meriweather got 11. The Tigers slipped to 1-5, but have been gutsy and scrappy in each contest.

A-League Games Tuesday Night in Cartersville, Georgia...
Celtics 65 Dalton 62... The Celtics got revenge over Dalton, to move to 5-3 and secure the 2nd seed in the upcoming playoffs. Dalton squeezed by the Celtics just a week ago 65-64, but the Celtics flipped the script and came up big late in the game on this day. Damien Payne and Kenyatta Baylor each hit 16 to lead the victors, who will play the 7th seeded C'villians in the first round on this Saturday. Dalton, who ended the season with two straight losses, finishes as the 5th seed with a 4-4 record. They were led by Sinclair Broome and Tim Moore, who each hit 17 and Teddy Ragland had 16.
ServPro-1 75 C'villians 68... ServPro helped its self by moving to 5-3, after staving off a late C'villian rally. ServPro's Jermaine Spivey paced the way with 24, while Unice Washington and Taran Trahan tallied 14 and 13, respectively. ServPro-1 will now face the 6th seeded Jaguars in the 1st round of the A-League tournament on Saturday, which will not be an easy task. The C'villians, who fell to 2-7, got a game-high 27 from Marcus Woods, along with Darrell Wilkin's 15 points. Kevin Wilkins and Lamar Hudson netted 12 and 10, respectively.
Baseline-1 82 Jaguars 62... After having trouble with the Jags in their first meeting, Baseline-1 cruised to a 48-21 half-time spread, then never really looked back. Baseline-1, who had clinched the North Division's 1st seed last week with its 6th win, finishes the regular season 8-0 and will now face the 8th seeded Skyline squad on Saturday in round 1 of the playoffs. Rod Ashmore, who has been "hot" of late, came up with a game-high 21 points to lead Baseline, while Cliff Washington hit 16, Justin Thompson 14, and Marcus Henderson 10. For the Jags, who fell to 3-5, Gathan White hit 19, Emeka Ngonadi 12 and Jamal Maiden 11.
GA Vikings 90 Skyline 68... In the night cap, the GA Vikings 'handled' a usually competitive Skyline squad. The win moved the Vikings to 4-4 and into the 5th seed, as they will face off against the #4 seed Dalton team. Dalton defeated the Vikings 68-59 in their regular season tilt just last week. Ben Elliott and Brad Steinhour sank 21 and 20, respectively, while Anthony McClain hit 14, Cameron Fitch 13 and Kemper Fitch 12. For Skyline, who plummetted to 1-7, to remain the 8th seed, Chris Morgan hit 20, Jay Warden 17 and Mike Linley 13. Skyline will go up against Baseline-1 in round #1.

SE Pro Am Results from Wednesday Night at Clayton State University in Morrow, Georgia:
Team Georgia 66 Tri County 54... Team Georgia improved to 4-3, after turning a 30-28 half time deficit into a twelve point victory, late in the game. Actually trailing 50-47, with only a few minutes left, Team Georgia's fortunes seemed to turn when late arriving PG Cam Dailey entered the game. Dailey's leadership and ball distribution, coupled with a staunch trap defense shut down Tri County. Antoine Henderson hit 20 for Team Georgia, while Joseph Harris downed 14 and Jason Cornelius 10. Dailey notched two important free throws late, for his only points. For Tri County, Darien Burke got 19 and John Prise 13, as Mike Crain was held to only 8. Tri County fell to 3-4.
Metro Stars 51 SW Tigers 44... The Metro Stars have finally broken through, as the made two in a row, with the win over the Tigers on Wednesday evening. The win move Metro from the cellar up to 6th seed, going into the last day of regular season. Derrick Stroud led Metro, now 2-5, with 17, while DJ Thomason has 12 and Austin Ewing 10. The SW Tigers, who are now 1-6, were paced by George Annan and Michael Woodard, who each netted 12, in the low scoring affair.
Rome Gladiators 85 Lightening 74... The Gladiators, clinched the Central Division top seed, and took one more step in its bid to complete the regular season undefeated, but it was not an easy step to take on this night. The Lightening charged out to a double digit lead in the first half, before the Glads began began a 17-5 run that finally knotted the score at 34. The score was tied at 39-all at the half. Mid-way through the second half, the Glads went on another run that produced a cushion from which the Lightening could not recover. The Glads, now 7-0, were led by Jamal Johnson with 23, former UGA player Adrian Jones with 22, DeJuan Clark 17, James May 11 and Shamar Johnson 10. The Lightening, who slipped to 2-7, got 19 from fromer Florida player Brian Thompson, along with Larry Thompson's 13, Tylson Boyd 11 and Donald Parrish 10.
Lakers 79 Atl. Fire 62... The Fire stayed with the Lakers as long as time would allow Wednesday night, before running out of gas in the 2nd half. The Lakers led 38-35 at the half, in what was a see-saw battle in the first 20 minutes. But, with out big man Mike Phenizee, the Fire could keep up in the middle. The Lakers, now 6-1, were paced by BJ Puckett and Darien Chavis, who each got 17, as Carlton Holmes hit 16, and Michael Sloan 11. Now, 3-4, the Fire was led by Tyrell Reynold's 22, while Cedric Kolombo hit 17 and Jonathan Reed 10.

A-League Central Division Games on Thursday Night at Clayton State in Morrow, Georgia:
Team Georgia 66 Metro Stars 59... Team Georgia ended Metro's two game win streak and finished the regular season at 5-3 to lock down the 3rd seed in the upcoming tournament. The loss dropped Metro to 2-6, but they did manage to keep the 6th seed in the Tourney and will have to face Team Georgia again in the 1st round of the Tournament Wednesday night at 7:30pm. Ronald Thompson, a 6'9" Center from Morehouse College, joined Team Georgia at the deadline and promptly led them in scoring on his first night with 16, as Antonio Henderson had 11 and Cam Dailey 10. For Metro, Derrick Stroud hit 15, while Austin Ewing and Robert Lawrence hit 14 each.
Tri County 81 Lightening 79... Tri County solidified the 4th seed by holding on, as the Lightening frantically attempted a comeback late in the game. Tri Couny moved to 4-4, and will face the #5 seeded Atlanta Fire in the 1st round next Wednesday evening at 8:30pm. The Lightening, who have struggled to find a good chemistry all summer, dropped to 2-6 and as the 7th seed will draw a tough 2nd seeded Lakers squad next Wednesday night at 6:30pm. John Prise broke out for 25 points to lead Tri County, while newcomer Ernest Scott hit 15, John Thompson 11 and Mike Crain 10. For the Lightening, Donald Parrish drilled 27, Tylson Boyd 14, Corey Sanders 11 and Quantel Donigan 10.
Rome Gladiators 70 Atlanta Fire 43... The Gladiators completed the mission of finishing with a perfect 8-0 regular season mark, after waxing the Atlanta Fire on Thursday night. The Glads will take on 8th seeded SW Tigers at 9:30pm next Wednesday in the 1st round of the playoffs. The Atlanta Fire, who fell to 3-5 and into the 5th seed, will clash with Tri County in round one. James Maye turned in another stellar effort for the Gladiators with 21, while Jamal Johnson and Shemar Johnson hit 13 each, Mike Benton 12 and Stephen Freedman 10. For the Fire, Cedrick Kalombo collected 17 points and Jay had 11.
Lakers 87 SW Tigers 54... The Lakers jumped out early and destoyed the Tigers, to finish the regular season at 7-1. The Lakers will battle the #7 seeded Lightening next Wednesday night. The Tigers, who have typically been very competitive, fell to 1-7, and as the 8th seed in the Central Division draws the difficult task of facing the Gladiators in round #1. In the win, the Lakers got balanced scoring from BJ Puckett with 14, Dantel Dawson 13, Mike Sloan 12, Darien Chavis 11 and Carlton Holmes 10. The Tigers were led by Randy Orr's 12, along with 10 each from Michael Woodard and Dewan Jackson.

GA Vikings 84 Dalton 76... The North's #5 Seeded Vikings avenged an earlier 77-68 regular season loss to Dalton, by turning the tables in the playoffs and hanging on to advance. It was not easy though, while leading 47-34 at the half, the Vikings went cold late in the second half allowing Dalton to creep back into the contest behind long range shooting by Tim Moore. Dalton was able to trim the score to 76-71. But, Cam Fitch answered with a 3 point bucket to push it back to and 9 point lead for the Vikings, followed by another 3-point daggar by Anthony McClain to jump the Viking lead back to 11, and shut the door on Dalton's comeback attempt. Fitch paced the Vikings with 29 points, while Ben Elliot hit 16, Johnathan Reddell 14, Kemper Fitch 11 and McClain 10. For Dalton, Moore downed 23, Sinclaire Broome 17, Teddy Ragland 13 and Wayne Norman was held to only 11. The Vikings now move on to face North #1 Seed Baseline-1 on Sunday evening at 8:30pm.
Baseline-1 111 Skyline 87... For much of the first half Baseline-1, the #1 seed in the North Division, struggled with Skyline's fast paced style of play. Skyline, behind 23 first half points by Jay Warden, led by as many as 10 in the first half, but Baseline-1 began to take advantage of Skyline's lack of size and depth, along with matching Skyline's torrid pace -- eventually built 62-52 lead by the intermission. The 2nd half was much the same, as Baseline-1 pulled away for the big victory. Bobby Brown finished the game with the highest point total of the summer by exploding for 41 points, while Terrence Hill downed 23, Rod Ashmore (196-F/G, college: Kennesaw St.) 17, Marcus Henderson (201-F-81, college: Athens St.) 14 and Georgy Joseph 10. Skyline's Warden tallied 39, while Chris Morgan had 19, Kelvin Boyd 17 and Mike Linley 12. Baseline-1 moves on to face #5 Seed GA Vikings Sunday evening at 8:30pm.
ServPro-1 71 Jaguars 46... ServPro-1, the North's #3 seed and the 2003 Defending Champs, had little resistence from the #6 Seeded Jaguars. ServPro-1 got balanced scoring as Aaron Kelly hit 18, Charles Burkett 16, while Jermaine Spivey (189-G-72, college: New Orleans) and John Williams each had 10. The Jags were led by Emeka Ngonak with 16 and Phillip Griffin with 11. ServPro-1 now advances to face the #2 Seeded Celtics on Sunday night at 7:30pm in Cartersville.
Celtics 73 C'villians 65... The #2 Seeded Celtics staved off an always tough C'villians team, the #7 Seed, in the other North Division 1st Round Game on Saturday night. Down 38-23 at the half, the C'villians fought their way back into the game and only trailed 59-52 with 5:30 remaining, but a quick 6-0 spurt by the Celtics put the game away and ended the #7 seed's season. Shae Blair lead the Celtics with 17, while Mike Carson, James Barnett and Brett Gravitt (193-G-79, college: S.Alabama) each chipped in with 11. The C'villians to 20 from the time-less and age-less Darrell Wilkins (186-G), who has been put up all-star numbers since the inaugural Summer Pro Am season in 1990. Marcus Woods also hit 18, Brian Stevenson 11 and Kevin Wilkins 10, for the C'villians. The Celtics will now move on to face the #3 seeded ServPro-1 squad at 7:30pm on Sunday night.

Baseline-2 114 Hounds 79... Baseline-2 had six players in double figures enroute to a blowout win over the Hounds in Round One of the Tournament. Rod Ashmore (196-F/G, college: Kennesaw St.) set the tone with 29 points, while Courtney Stanley and Terrance Hill each had 18 Jay Warden 15, Cliff Washington 12, and Marcus Henderson 10. The Hounds were led by John Taylor and Scott Taylor who hit 25 and 24, respectively. Branson Harris also hit 18 for the Hounds, who saw their season come to a close. Baseline-2 will move on to face the East Division's #1 seed Future Entertainment at 6pm on Sunday afternoon.
ServPro-2 85 Hames 62... ServPro-2 had no problem moving to the second round, after an easy win over #3 seed Hames. Darnell Cox hit 16, Jamie Reynolds 13, while Johnny Goodman (198-F-78, college: Martin Methodist) and Derek Carey each netted 12 for ServPro-2, who will now clash against East Division #1 seed Cedartown at 5pm on Sunday afternoon. For Hames, Michael Linley downed a game-high 23 points, while Eric Ballard hit 16 and TJ Printup 13.
