I am very excited about the upcoming season and our affiliation with Cal Ripken Baseball.
Before the season starts, I want to take this opportunity to reiterate our values as an organization and ensure every one of our families understand what we stand for.
As a baseball organization we are here to teach baseball skills, life skills and to ensure the kids have fun. We believe in good sportsmanship, honesty, integrity and respect. At all levels from T-ball through the Colt league, we must teach fair play and provide each child, regardless of ability, the opportunity to fulfill his dreams. We hope all our coaches, parents and players follow these beliefs and if not, I would like to know.
Sometime around the first of March we will be conducting our in-house club player evaluations along with Select and Tournament travel team tryouts. In particular we want to emphasize the policy of the Green Hornets that travel team tryouts are open to all players of an age group. All team roster positions are considered open. Each travel team head coach should use evaluators that are seen as unbiased and, in as many cases as possible, “unattached”. Additional information on the in-house club evaluations and travel team tryouts will be published in mid-February. If you have any questions, contact the appropriate league director or travel team coach by using the new updated baseball website, www.severnaparkbaseball.org and look under “Contact Info”.
I look forward to seeing the kids on the diamond and having fun again this spring.
Sincerely,
Todd Frady
Commissioner
