    Dan O'Neil Article
To: Present and Future Saints/Lady Saints Basketball Club Members:

The Saints and Lady Saints Basketball Club is designed to be a high school development program. Our goals and philosophy might be much different than club teams that you are familiar with. We do not actively recruit players nor do we turn down players. Our goals are to develop a player to be successful each time up and down the court. If we are successful there, the wins and losses tend to work themselves out. The system is designed much like the European academy systems that I have coached and have been associated with. We feel that there is too much emphasis on games and too little emphasis on practice and training. The Saints and Lady Saints program is designed to give each player a minimum of a 3 to 1 practice to games ratio. We have witnessed vast development by all players who have shown a serious commitment.

Our goal with reference to game time is to generally provide as equal playing time as possible with the thought in mind to put players in position to be challenged and to succeed. At times, in addition to league games we will also participate in tournaments.

Attached you will find an article from Dan O’Neil of the Post Dispatch that reinforces a lot of our philosophy. You will have to make a decision if our goals and philosophies match your goals and philosophies.

Please feel free to contact me to discuss these or any other issues.

    Sincerely,

    Dennis Beckett
    Founder
