Welcome to the Skagit Valley Yellow Jackets youth wrestling program. We are a non-profit organization that is dedicated to assisting and teaching your child the wrestling fundamentals. Our club is open to boys & girls between the ages of 5 and 14. Our season runs from October 26th to January 31st.
COST:
Total Cost: $102.00. (Club Dues: $60.00 includes team t-shirt and USA Wrestling Card: $42.00). This can only be purchased online and is mandatory to practice with the team and compete at tournaments. (The website is located on our links page). If you do not have access to a computer, we can order one for you. There is also an entry fee at all tournaments of approximately $15-$20.
PRACTICE:
Begins 10/26/09. Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday 6:00pm to 7:30pm at the Burlington-Edison High School wrestling room (next to tennis court). You must have completed and submitted the following to attend practice: Registration form, Medical treatment form,Concussion form,copy of USA wrestling card.
CLOTHES:
T-shirt, shorts, and clean shoes. Wrestling shoes and singlets are preferred but not required. Sweats are welcomed but not recommend as it is difficult to keep traction on the slick mats. The club will provide wrestlers with a team singlet to be worn at tournaments only and needs to be turned in at the end of the season or if you are no longer participating in the club.
TOURNAMENTS:
Are held on Saturday’s at various locations (calendar of events to come later). Registration is usually 6:30 - 8:00 am with wrestling starting at 9:00 or 10:00 beginning with the youngest age/weight and working up. These events are usually double elimination and can be an all day event depending on how successful your child is. (more information on tournament structure later).
PARENTS:
Your participation in your child’s wrestling success is very important and welcomed. We encourage you to assist in turn outs as we have a limited number of coaches who can only give a certain amount of one on one instruction.
If you are a returning wrestler who has outgrown your wrestling shoes or singlet, PLEASE! bring them to the club so they can be recycled to new or younger members.
