The Alliance win Division 2 of the National Capital Soccer League ( NCSL) and are elgible for NCSL Division 1. Congratulations Team!

The Alliance exploded for five goal to defeat host ASA United 5-1 at Meade High School in Fort Meade, MD. Michael opened the scoring in the second minute taking the feed from Chris and burying the shot. United equalized four minutes later. Cam put the Alliance up for good in the 19th minute off the pass from Michael. Michael scored his second in the 54th. Brandon scored a beautiful header off the free kick delivery by John in the 59th minute. Aaron closed out the scoring in the 89th by putting in the rebound of his initial shot after a great long ball from Cam. The Alliance traveled to Portsmouth, VA to battle the ODS Big Dog Elite on September 25 in the State Cup. After falling behind in the 13th minute, the Alliance struck back in the 18th behind a strike by Xavier. Despite having the run of play, the Alliance were unable to put in a second before half. They came out of half and continued to press for a goal. Unfortunately the Elite capitalized in the 54th minute to take the lead. The Alliance continued to battle but were unable to find the equalizer and were eliminated 2-1. A link to video highlights from the game is in the Fall 2010 Season Video tab.

The Alliance followed up their opening game win with another victory to remain undefeated in league play. Chris opened the scoring in the 14th minute against the Stafford Revolution at Braddock Park. Taking a nice feed from Michael and using a burst of speed, he got around the defender and slotted a nice shot past the keeper for the early lead. Michael made it 2-0 in the 56th minute shooting while battling the defender and falling down. Stafford fought back and reduced the deficit to one in the 86th minute but could not equalize. The SYA Alliance opened their Fall 2011 NCSL season with a hard fought victory over a tough RUSH Swoosh 94 team at Braddock Park. The Swoosh had the early momentum with several shots in the first half hour. The Alliance slowly asserted themselves and earned a penalty kick in the 44th minute. Cam calmly slotted the penalty home to give the Alliance the 1-0 lead. The second half was equally hard fought with the Alliance defense shutting down the Swoosh for the final score of 1-0 Alliance. The Alliance will be joining other SYA teams over Labor Day weekend in Charlottesville to play VCCL teams in a College Showcase Tournament. The staff from UVA has already committed to attending the games as other local college coaches. Come watch the Alliance take on some of the states best competition in the VCCL. Alliance are champions of the Cardinal Cup. With a record of 4-0-0 and only one goal allowed all weekend long the Alliance were champions of the Cardinal Cup. After rain and lightening on Saturday the Alliance were 2-0-0. Sunday brought a very good opponent the VSA Heat . The Alliance won 2-0 and then in the finals 1-0. Great Job Boys !

Alliance win the High School Division 2 Winter League at Sports Network in Manassas. The Alliance went undefeated in the winter league with a record of 5-0-0 on the turf field. They faced a determined VSA Heat 94 Blue team in the finals but came out with the win and the championship.

The Alliance won their final NCSL season game Sunday, November 7, and with the win won the NCSL Division 3. The game started slowly with the Alliance down at the half 1-2 but as usual came out the 2nd half on a mission and earned the win 3-2. The Sterling Extreme scored 1st on an agressive push into the box when the Alliance were not marking and following a hard shot on a bumpy field --- it was 0-1 Extreme. Michael enabled the 1st Alliance goal with his furious drive into the box and drew a hard foul leading to a PK which Griffin deftly slotted past he goalie. In the second half the Alliance were clearly the stronger team with the defense setting the tone with hard tackles, better marking and strong goal keeping from Shaun Powell. The Alliance scored their 2nd and 3rd goals from Aaron and Christopher off of crosses. To ice the game Coach Gary with about 12 minutes to go had the Alliance go into a defensive posture with five fullbacks and with Xaiver the lone striker. With the extra fullback the Extreme were not able to break through the defensive and with Xaiver harrassing their fullbacks the Alliance earned the win. Congratulations Alliance on a fine season's record of 5 wins, 3 ties, and 1 loss.

The Alliance playing in last weekend's soccer tournament won the U15/U16 Elite division with three wins and a tie to begin the summer/fall soccer season. Many players contributed to the tourney victory but hats off to the Alliance's own Sean Powell for filling in as goalie recording and two shutouts. The Alliance next play in the PWSI Toys for Tots Soccer Tournament over the coming holiday.
