Mini-Camp 2009
Thunder White pre-season mini-camp is the week of August 24th, Monday through Thursday.
Katie, our team trainer, will run the camp. Coach Bill and Coach Ed will attend parts of each session.
Days: Monday-Thursday, August 24-27th
Time: 5 pm to 8 pm
(NOTE: Wednesday's session is at Franconia Park Field #3, as we have a scrimmage planned. The practice will still run from 5-8. Because we are scrimmaging we need everyone who is in town and able to play to attend. If for any reason your daughter will not be there on Wednesday, let Coach Bill know. We will not be wearing uniforms.)
The camp is a great opportunity for our girls to improve -- we urge the girls to take advantage.
Bring plenty of water, a properly inflated size 5 ball and be prepared to put forth your best effort.

Coach Bill's Notes for Fall 2009
Practices
Fall 2009 practices are Mondays and Fridays from 5:00 until 6:30 on one of the turf fields at South Run 5. We took the 5:00 slot because it allowed our team an opportunity to practice on turf fields and allow us to complete practice on Friday before the girls social lives kick into high gear. If we have rainy weather you should anticipate we will practice unless you get an email stating otherwise. To the extent the early start time creates any hardship in getting your daughter to practice on time, let the group know and we'll see if there is a way we can pitch in and help. We expect each girl to attend every practice. Beginning in August and continuing through the year, if for some reason your daughter cannot attend practice please let Ed and I know ahead of time. Please have your daughters bring a size 5 ball and water to each practice.
Team Trainer
We are lucky to have hired Katie Watson to train the girls this year. Her background is as follows:
* Currently plays for the Washington Freedom W-League team * Played for the Northern Virginia Majestics, W-League * Played for Old Dominion University NCAA D-1 * ODU Team Captain 2006-2008 * Named to the All CAA, All State, All Region & All Mid Atlantic teams * Voted Scholar All American in 2006 * Top Scorer of Colonial Athletic Association with in 2006 * Staff trainer at the ODU soccer programs * Staff Trainer at the Washington Freedom soccer programs
Katie will run the Monday practices and also work with the mini-camp discussed below. Please come out to practice the next couple of Mondays and introduce yourself to Katie.
Mini-camp
We will be conducting our mini-camp the week of August 24th. The camp will run from Monday through Thursday (4 nights) and we anticipate the time of the camp being 5:00 to 8:00. Katie will work the camp along with the coaches. Again, conducting the camp this particular week will allow the maximum number of girls to participate.
Labor Day Tournament
We anticipate entering the FPYC Labor Day tournament on September 5th and 6th. We are guaranteed 4 games, the games will be local and the cost is a reasonable $500.
Aerobic Training / Soccer Girls on the Run
Girls on the Run fitness training conducted every Tuesday evening this summer at 6 pm outside the South Run Fieldhouse has been a great success. We would like to consider continuing the voluntary running workouts through the season on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday, so long as the interest continues.
Other Notes
Our roster remains at 15 and we are comfortable playing the season at that number. That said, if anyone is aware of a strong player who would like to play, please have that girl contact Ed or I and we will arrange for a tryout.
Most of our communication is conducted by email. If there is another or additional address you wish to be contacted at please let me know. One favor -- if I ask for you to get back to me via email about a particular issue please do so.
Ed and I are very excited for the season and we hope the girls are as well. We look forward to getting the girls out on the field and getting to work.
