    TABU took 5th at the Super Series Winter Nationals in Peoria, Az. TABU went to the tournament with just 10 kids. By the fifth game they were down to nine kids do to an injury to the starting catcher Brandon Lamm in the forth game. His replacement Jarrett Costa did an out standing fill in job. Costa normally plays right field. The first play TABU beat the Arizona Bounty hunters 6 to 5. AJ Vanegas pitched 5 innings allowed 2 hits and two runs. Nathan Little came in at the top of the fifth inning and recorded the save. In the second game, TABU beat Green Mountain Rams from Colorado 6 to 4. Winning pitcher was Chris Flexen and Rudy Artero recorded the save for this game. Game three of the seeding rounds TABU beat Desert Dawgs of Arizona 13 to 2. Artero was the winning pitcher in this game. Out of the 16 teams in the tournament TABU was seeded third.

    Now, in the double elimination rounds. TABU beat the 14th seed Gaunchos of Arizona 14 to 9. Pitching for TABU was Vanegas. Vanegas recorded his second win of the tournament. Then TABU lost to the 11th seeded team – Albuquerque SOL of New Mexico 11 to 5. TABU now has drop down to the loser’s brackets. Their first game there was against the 4th seeded team Bounty Hunters. TABU beat them with a score 12 to 2. Artero was the starting pitcher. He also recorded his second win. Moving on. TABU faces the 2nd seeded team Bakersfield Jr. Renegades of California on Thursday morning. TABU beat them 5 to 3. Vanegas recorded his third win and Flexen got the save. Thursday afternoon, TABU face the number one seeded team Lake Forest Titans of Southern California. In this game TABU lost to Titans 6 to 7 in eight Innings. This game was a battle for both teams. TABU had two injured kids on the field and had exhausted their pitching. But, the boys where not going down easy in this game. TABU scored first in the top of the first inning from David Morgan and Artero. Titans scored one in the bottom half. TABU scored two more in the top of the third from Little and Vanegas. The Titans scored four runs in the next two innings to take the lead 5 to 4. In the fifth inning TABU tied it and then took the lead by scoring another run in the top of the sixth. But the Titans tied it in the bottom of the sixth and then they knock the winning run in in the bottom of the eight with two outs.

    Offensively for TABU. Morgan had 7 singles and 3 triples out of 23 at bats and scored 12 runs and had 8 stolen bases. Dante Smith had 8 singles, a double, and 2 home runs, 7 RBI’s and scored 8 runs. Vanegas had 3 singles, 1 double, 4 triples, and a home run. Artero had 4 singles, a double, & 2 homers. Andre Davis had 5 singles & a home run. Jerame Vancil had 3 singles & a double, and scored 6 runs.

    TABU shuts out Ceres Reds to take first place

    Thursday, July 24, 2003 - Fremont's under-10 boys traveling baseball team, the TABU, took first place at the Solano World Series Qualifier by beating the Ceres Reds in the championship game 8-0. Eric Nevin pitched the shutout.

    Evan Mason had a triple that scored two runners, and Mark Mathias hit a double that scored three runs.

    To open the tournament, TABU beat San Bruno Green 7-0. The winning pitcher was Mason. He faced 12 batters in three innings and allowed one hit with two strikeouts and two walks. Chris Jaracz faced nine batters in the last three innings and allowed no hits and had two strikeouts.

    In the second game, TABU beat Pittsburg Travel 5-0. Josh Bell earned the win. He faced 10 batters in three innings. He allowed one hit and had one strikeout and one walk. Rudy Artero closed the game by facing 12 batters and gave up two hits and had two strikeouts and two walks in three innings.

    In game three, TABU tied Atwater Slammers 7-7. Josh Friedman pitched one inning facing 9 batters. He had given up three hits. David Morgan got the no decision. He faced 16 batters in four innings giving up no hits and two unearned runs.

    In the semifinals, TABU faced Atwater Slammers again. But, this time TABU beat them 8-4 to advance to the championship game.

    TOP PLAYERS--Rudy Artero, Jacob Montes, Mark Mathias, Josh Bell, David Morgan (TABU).


    TABU had a great run. Winning 5 of it's last 6 tournaments. Outscoring their opponents 296 runs to 95.
    Having a recorder of 28 - 4. TABU has two more tournaments before they head south for the Winter National Champioships in Arizona.

    2004 Summer National Qualifier Jan 31
    TABU a u-11 Fremont Traveling Baseball team took first in Super Series’ first 2004 Summer National Qualifying tournament in Modesto. There were a total of five teams in the tournament. So, the best out of 5 qualifies for the Summer National Championships in St. Louis in July. TABU’s first game was against Elk Grove Rebels. TABU beat them by a score of 10 to 0. Winning pitcher was AJ Vanegas. Vanegas also went 2 for 2, a single & a home run. That home run was the first of two. His second one came in the game against the Solano Stingrays. Rudy Artero and Jarrett Costa each hit a double and had 2 RBIs. In the second game, TABU beat Balz-Out from Rodeo 4 to 1. Winning pitcher was Chris Flexen. He pitched six innings allowed five hits and one run, struck out nine batters. Maurice Miranda got the save. Dante Smith and Andre Davis each had a single. In game three. TABU beat the Solano Stingrays 7 to 4. Winning pitcher was Miranda and Vanegas gets the save. Smith had a single and a ground rule double. In the final game Sunday, TABU beat Monterey Bay Bulls 11 to 3. David Morgan was the winning pitcher for that game. Morgan pitched three innings faced nine batters allowed one hit and walk a batter. Morgan also, went 2 for 3, a single and a double. In this game Joshua Bell went 2 for 3, both singles, he also had 3 RBI’s, 3 stolen bases and scored 2 runs.
