    TYF Residency




    Attention Parents:

    Some changes have occurred in the football registration process; these changes apply to tackle football only.

    In order to comply with the Buckeye Youth Football Conference (BYFC) community based approach to football organization, the Tallmadge Youth Football (TYF) boosters have voted to require families to show proof of Tallmadge residency and/or proof of enrollment in Tallmadge City Schools in order to register for tackle football.

    TYF is available to kids with primary residency within the City of Tallmadge or kids that are enrolled in Tallmadge City Schools.

    Therefore; In order to register for Tallmadge Youth Football for the 2009 season, families will need to provide two (2) of the following acceptable documents to show proof of residency:

    Drivers License, Voter's Registration, School Records (current year report card), Welfare/Child Care Records, Federal, State or Local Records, Homeowner/Tenant Records, or Utility Bills

    July 27th through July 29th: - Conditioning *no pads

    July 30th: - Pads *no contact

    August 3rd: - First day contact

    August 8th: - Movie Night

    August 15th: - Vegas Night Fundraiser

    August 16th: - Football and Cheer pictures

    August 17th: - Flag pictures

    August 22nd: – Scrimmage and weigh in weekend

    Vegas Night is a fundraiser for the Tallmadge Youth Football teams to raise money for equipment, uniforms and other services to benefit all the youth participants. Enjoy an evening of food and drinks, betting, and a silent auction sponsored by the Tallmadge Youth Football Booster Club.


    Tickets $75 per couple
    Tickets $40 single
    Price includes hor d’oeurves, open bar and $200 game money. Additional game money is available for purchase the night of the event.




    Coaching Clinic





    Attention TYF Coaches

    We are putting together a few clinics with a couple of the high school coaches; we are going to be learning as much of their system as we can. This should be very helpful. It is not mandatory, but highly recomended. The clinics will be in February and March on Thursdays, the time and place TBA. I will send out times and dates once they are set. If you have any one that would like to attend please forward their E- Mail address to Sam.

    Sign-ups for 2009 Tackle Football (Grades 2nd-7th) will be held:


    April 19th 2009 from 1-3pm

    &

    May 17th 2009 from 1-3pm

    Both days sign-ups will be held at Overdale Field.


    These sign-ups are for Football only.


    Please bring a copy of your child's birth certificate and a 2x2 photo (the photo will not be returned).

    The cost for Tackle Football is $125 due at sign-up. Raffle tickets will be supplied to help defray the cost of participation.

    There is also a $50 Volunteer Deposit due at sign-up which will be refunded when the Family Volunteer Commitment is met.

    A $25 non-refundable late fee will be assigned to any registration received after May 17th.

    Please keep in mind that although we ask for a payment at registration, we do hold that check until August 1st, 2009 giving families time to recoup the cost through raffle ticket sales.


    Football parents will need to provide 2 different checks during sign-ups: 1 for registration fees and 1 for your volunteer commitment.


    Please remember to bring proof of residency to registration.(see below)

    Players must have a physical form turned in by July 27th 2009 to participate in conditioning and practices.

    The TYF 2009 Cheerleading (grades 2-7) registration dates are:


    Feb 21 from 12:00 to 2:00

    &

    March 1 from 2:00 to 4:00

    Registration will be held at the Ritchies Memorial Shelter.

    We will be having a parent meeting to address any questions at the start of registration.

    We are in need of volunteers for Cheer Team-Moms.
    Anyone interested will be able to sign up at registration.

    There are other options for volunteers as well.

    There will be no money due at registration.

    Fees will be paid on either April 19th or May 17th during football registration at Overdale Field from 1-3pm.

    You will be able to pay for multiple children in the program at this time and also pick up your raffle tickets.

    Cheer parents will need to provide 3 different checks: 1 for registration fees, 1 for your volunteer commitment, and 1 for warm-up suits.

    We will also be measuring/ordering warm- up uniforms at this time so please plan for this by bringing your child with you.

    Director-Sam Williams
    Oversee the entire TYF program.

    Assistant Director- Jeff Natcher
    Assist with the TYF program.

    Ensures the safety of the kids involved in the program.

    Oversee the Cheer program.

    President-Sarah Boggs
    Presides at all meetings during the transaction of business to preserve order and see that the Constitution is upheld. He/She shall appoint all committees that involve fund raising for the Booster Club. Coordinates the Tallmadge Youth Football Award Ceremony.

    Vice-President- Ruth McGraw
    The Vice President shall assist the President and assume all duties of the President in his or her absence. The Vice President oversees the activity of the Concession Stand.

    Secretary- Beth Sands
    The secretary records all meetings of the organization, reads all notices and communications pertaining to this organization, and retains a permanent record of all active members of this organization. (Registrations) The secretary is responsible for the minutes of the Booster Club and provides copies for each member in attendance. Also, produces newsletters, when necessary and distribute.

    Treasurer- Dave Vardeman
    Shall receive all monies, shall be in charge of distributing all monies, shall read all bills and retain accurate records of all receipts and expenditures.


    At-Large
    At-Large Officers will be responsible for chairing the fund raising activities, activities prior to and throughout the season and the concession stand. Help at sign ups and Night @ The Races. Help to organize fun activities. Areas are defined below.


    All At-Large Booster members are encouraged to work at the Concession stand one night each week. As well as work one game on Saturday. No exceptions.

    Below is a list of duties that we would like to see one person take as a contact or go to person. This persons name will be distributed at the beginning of the season as the chair person for that event/function.

    Sign Coordinator- OPEN
    This person is in charge of selling and the renewal of patron signs. Coordinating with the sign company new signs to be made.

    Registration- OPEN
    Show up at Registration and help with the flow of the day. Collect paperwork such as birth certificates, pictures, physicals. Work the TYF table which may have hats, tshirts or sweatshirts. Occurs prior to the season in May/June.

    Dr Bachtel Physical Day- OPEN
    (Program no longer offered)
    Sit at Dr Bachtels office and give registration forms to each player. Upon the player leaving the office with the Doctors signature, you get the registration back and re-file according to Team. Occurs prior to the season beginning. June/July.

    Field Work Days- OPEN
    Promote and encourage many people to come out and help get the field ready for the season. Help advertise the days chosen so many people are aware and can attend. Things we do: weed eat, paint, clean concession, organize uniforms, prepare equipment for handout day. Occurs prior to the season in July on a few Sundays.

    Head Team Mom-OPEN
    Conduct a team mom meeting early in the season to help new team moms aware of their duties, responsibilities and expectations. Be available for questions as their contact person. Occurs all season.

    Announcer/Score Board Operator-Jason Brown
    Ensure some one is scheduled to announce each game Tuesday through Saturday and have another person to run the scoreboard and spot the ball etc.

    Equipment Manager- Mike Skraba
    Inventory and handle all equipment. Pass out to teams at the beginning of the season and maintain inventory. Be available for equipment turn ins at the end of the year. Occurs all season.

    Head of Concession- Ruth McGraw
    Schedule volunteers to work throughout the week and on game day. Buy and stock items in the concession stand. Oversee the flow of events. Occurs all season. Movie Night Select the date. Call screen company. Coordinate tickets to each team. Figure out food? Popcorn, Pizza? Help promote event. Occurs during the season.

    Photo Day Coordinator- Beth Sands
    Be in charge of selecting the date. Work with the photographers. Fill out forms and distribute to each team mom. Pick up pictures from photographer. Distribute to team mom or head coach upon arrival. Answer questions pertaining to this event. Occurs during the season.

    Picture Committee- Beth Sands
    Works with the memory book coordinator to gather photos and ensure all teams are represented. Occurs towards the end of the season.

    Memory Book Coordinator- Beth Sands
    Create a memory book for the end of the season. Collect pictures from all teams and arrange accordingly. Gather year end summary from each coach and the director. Occurs mid to end of season.

    Banquet Committee- Sarah Boggs
    Decide date, time and location for the year end banquet. Reserve hall, line up caterer. Create form to give each Player/cheerleader in organization to get a headcount. Collect forms from everyone.

    Fundraising / Night at the Races- Shannon Adolph
    Promote event. Order Tickets. Reserve hall. Book DJ. Select date. Create Booklet. Sell tickets. Sell horses. Solicit items from area businesses for the silent auction/door prizes.

    Field Maintenance- Brian Sweitzer
    Getting field ready on game days, cleaning up trash and finding people to help. Taking trash to dumpster across the street to Overdale.

    Flag Coordinator- OPEN
    Oversee the entire flag program. Handle all concerns from parents. Pass out schedules. T-shirt lists and sizes for players and coaches.

    A-Coordinator- OPEN
    Oversee the players on the A-team. Handle concerns from parents. Coordinate equipment hand out with. Pass out schedules.

    B-Coordinator- OPEN
    Oversee the players on the B-team. Handle concerns from parents. Coordinate equipment hand out. Pass out schedules.

    C-Coordinator- OPEN
    Oversee the players on the C-team. Handle concerns from parents. Coordinate equipment hand out. Pass out schedules.




    TYF Joining Buckeye Youth Football

    --2008--Tallmadge Youth Football Joining Buckeye Youth Football!!

    Tallmadge Youth Football has joined the Buckeye Youth Football Conference. This is the same great Tallmadge Youth Football organization that has served Tallmadge youth for decades joining a new conference that is a better fit for our community. The current membership of the Buckeye Youth Football Conference includes:

    Bath Township (Revere)
    Canal Fulton (Northwest)
    Doylestown (Chippewa)
    Ellet
    Green
    Hudson (A Division Only)
    Manchester
    Springfield

    The weight structure in this new league will allow everyone an opportunity to play from Kindergarten through 7th grade.




    Buckeye Youth Football Conference Division Rules
    July 23, 2008  --  

    C Division Game Rules (3rd and 4th grade)

    * OHSAA rules apply unless noted
    * Playing 8 minute quarters for both Varsity and JV games
    * Sudden death over time format (1st and goal from the 10yd line) If still tied after first round each team must go for 2 pts conversions (No JV-OT)
    * No kick offs. Ball starts on 35 yard line
    * After a safety the ball is spotted on the 50 yard line.
    * Extra points are counted; 2 pts for kicks and pass's when the ball is caught in the end zone, 1 pt for runs or pass's caught outside the end zone.
    * Kicking extra points are live play.
    * Coach must immediately designate his intent to punt or not after 3rd down. If a punt is designated, the ball is automatically advanced 20 yards.
    * Any defensive alignment is Ok with a maximum of 7 players in the box. Lining up in gaps are Ok but No stacking of defensive players are allowed
    * Linebackers and D-Backs must stay 2 yards off the ball until the snap occurs. No Stemming allowed!
    * Safeties must line up at least 7 yards from line of scrimmage (must have at least one safety )
    * The defense must get set and stay in the same position unless the offense goes in motion or shows an unbalanced line.
    * Defensive players on the line (between Tackles) must be in the down position
    * As long as a team has more than a 24 point lead, all players in the starting backfield are prohibited from playing offense.
    * Tight End's are optional for stripes. TE with stripes are ineligible and are not permitted down field (same as for a lineman) on pass plays.
    * Each team will get 3 time outs per half and allowed only one in each overtime.
    * One coach is allowed on the field/huddle during the JV games.
    * Official Ball to be; TDJ Leather ball for C div.
    * Striped players can not advance the ball. If a striped player intercepts a pass/lateral or recovers a fumble they are ruled automatically down.
    * Only solid / molded rubber spikes are permitted. No screw -in cleats allowed.
    * Mouth pieces are mandatory for participation in league games. OHSAA - must fasten to face mask and not be clear material


    B Division Game Rules (5th and 6th grade)

    * OHSAA rules apply unless noted

    Buckeye Youth Football Conference - 2008 League Rules
    July 23, 2008  --  

    Divisions

    Tackle C; grades 3rd & 4th (Not eligible if turning 11 prior to Nov 1st)
    Tackle B; grades 5th & 6th (Not eligible if turning 13 prior to Nov 1st)
    Tackle A; 7th Grade (Not eligible if turning 14 prior to Nov 1st)

    Organization Structure

    1. The official name of the league will be Buckeye Youth Football Conference
    2. Each community must have 2 designated ( voting ) representatives active on the League Board and present at each meeting
    3. All league rules and organizational decisions will be voted on the League Board
    4. Each community will pay league fees (per team) to cover referees and other league expenses as determined by the League Board
    5. A League Facilitator position will be created and rotated alphabetically between communities each year
    6. The League Facilitator position is responsible for organizing league meetings, schedules, refs and website management.
    7. The League Facilitator shall not be one of the two voting members form their community, and only vote on items to break ties
    8. Communities who fail to abide by the Organizational Structure, General or Game Rules may be removed from participation
    9. All communities are responsible for their own insurances and agree to hold the BYFC harmless from any claims or losses
    10. Participation in BYFC is limited to kids with primary residency within or are attending the same OHSAA school district.
    11. The board may approve exceptions to the residency / school requirements on an individual basis prior to roster submital.
    12. No exceptions players that want to participate in another BYFC program when they already live in a BYFC league community
    13. A communities failure to abide by the residency / school rules may subject them to forfeiture of play-off contention


    General Rules

    1. Each community must maintain a 100 x 52 yard field with goal post and scoreboard for hosting league games
    2. League to dictate official start date of conditioning / practices each season
    3. Must have 3 days of conditioning (helmets only) and I day with pads (no contact) prior full contact
    4. All communities to hold official draft or equivalent selection process each year to ensure equally split teams
    5. No team can have more than 47 players on a roster.
    6. Practicing with pads will be limited to 3 days per week after school starts
    7. Official league rosters must be submitted to the League Facilitator by
    8. All weigh-ins to be held with league representation present to sign off on official rosters with weights recorded individualy
    9. C Division weight limit to play a position that can advance the ball is 100lbs. Tight ends can be "striped" but are not eligible to catch pass's
    10. B Division weight limit to play a position that can advance the ball is 120lbs. Tight ends can be "striped" but are not eligible to catch pass's
    11. A Division weight limit to play a position that can advance the ball is 130lbs. Tight ends can be "striped" but are ineligible
    12. After Oct 1st an addition 3 lbs will be added to the pre-season limits for each division when challenging weights.
    13. Once a player has been given a "stripe" designation they are required to play as a stripe the whole year.(only exception to be Rule #15)
    14. Weigh-ins of specific players may be requested by either team before any game (no weight challenges are allowed on the first week of games)
    15. If a player misses the official weigh-in they must be weighed in at the first game. However, they must play the first game as a stripe.
    16. Every team must field a squad for a JV and Varsity game each week (exceptions may be granted by the League Board)
    17. Any player that does not play at least 1/2 of the varsity game must play at least 1/2 of the JV game.
    18. If playing in both JV and Varsity games, players may not play the same position in both.
    19. Two way starters in the Varsity game can not play in JV games (unless the opposing coach approves it before the game)
    20. Any coach who is removed from a game must sit out the following week / game also.
    21. Any coach who is removed from two games in one season will loss his ability to coach in the BYFC forever.
    22. Play-off tie breakers; head to head and then a coin toss
