Competition level
10U and 12U teams will play against similar teams in either A, B, or C level competition. (A being the most competitive, B being the next level, and C is usually a beginning level).
14U and 16U teams (and above) will play against similar teams in either Elite, A, or B level competition.
The coach and director will determine the appropriate level for each Tartan team to play. There is an opportunity for teams at each level to advance to the State Tournament, and possibly a National Tournament.

Age requirements
A player's age at the end of the previous year determines the level of play for that year.
For 2009, this means:
Born after Dec. 31, 1997 - 10U (10 and under)
Born after Dec. 31, 1995 - 12U (12 and under)
Born after Dec. 31, 1993 - 14U (14 and under)
Born after Dec. 31, 1991 - 16U (16 and under)
ASA rules allow players to play in older age groups, but not younger age groups.
In rare situations, some players may be asked to "move up" in order to fulfill roster requirements - when an older team is lacking enough players, for example.
The Tartan Fastpitch Director will determine when and if it is appropriate to allow any player(s) to move up to another age group for any other reason.
